| realbombchu06-27-07, 12:35 AM | I just got that Sandstorm book, so as I was going through it, I noticed some good traits for the Gerudo to have. Here is what I have now. Gerudo Racial Traits Humanoid (human): Gerudo are humanoid creatures with the human subtype. Medium: As Medium creatures, gerudo have no special bonuses or penalties due to size. Gerudo base land speed is 30 feet. 4 extra skill points at 1st level and 1 extra skill point at each additional level: Gerudo (like their human cousins) are versatile and capable. (The 4 skill points at 1st level are added on as a bonus, not multiplied in.) A gerudo can go without water for two days (48 hours), plus a number of hours equal to her Constitution score, before beginning to experience the ill effects of thirst. Expert Rider: Gerudo always consider Ride a class skill, and they gain a +2 bonus on all Ride checks. Gerudo rely on strong mounts while making their yearly nomadic movements, and even settled gerudo purchase (or steal) a horse as soon as they can. Female: There is only one male gerudo born every one hundred years. The rest of the gerudo are always female. Great Ally (Ex): Gerudo work exceptionally well with their allies. When successfully aided on a skill check or attack roll by an ally, or when aiding another, a gerudo applies or gains a +3 bonus on its check or attack roll (instead of the normal +2 bonus). Furthermore, a gerudo gains a +4 bonus on attack rolls against an opponent flanked by an ally (instead of the normal +2 bonus). Heat Endurance: Gerudo receive the Heat Endurance feat as a bonus feat. Mounted Archery: Gerudo receive the Mounted Archery feat as a bonus feat. Weapon Proficiency: Gerudo receive the Martial Weapon Proficiency feats for the glaive, scimitar, longbow (including composite longbow) and shortbow (including composite shortbow) as bonus feats. Gerudo esteem the arts of swordplay and archery, so all gerudo are familiar with these weapons. Automatic Language: Gerudo and Hylian. Bonus Languages: Goron and Zoran. Favored Class: Rogue. A multiclass gerudo’s rogue class does not count when determining whether she takes an experience point penalty for multiclassing. Level adjustment +0. I'm not sure it's balanced, but it is accurate as far as I can tell. I think it has a lot to offer a spellcaster, like a sorcerer or wizard, but not a whole lot to offer a fighter or ranger. I might remove the extra skill points if I have to. Please let me know what you all think. |

You've given them bonus feats, bonus skill points, and a whole bunch of other abilities too. I'd make them a bit less human (i.e., no bonus skill points). Also, the standard for skills among LA +0 races is a flat +2 racial bonus. |
| realbombchu06-27-07, 01:12 AM | Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. I thought they were too powerful compared to a human, but I wasn't entirely sure. I'll take away the skill points. |

Great Ally seems like it'd be a feat that only Gerudo can take rather than a racial trait all Gerudo would get. I think they're favored class would be Fighter. The only Rogue we see is Nabooru, the others are Fighters, Warriors and Wizards. Besides that I agree with Thomar. |
| realbombchu07-02-07, 01:29 AM | I hope this works better! :) Gerudo Racial Traits +2 Cha, -2 Wis: Gerudo are beautiful, but do not have strong, righteous hearts. Looks good, this is a very nice job at making this race LA +0. I don't have the Heat Endurance feat on me, I'm assuming that's from Sandstorm? It's probably situational anyways, so I don't think it's important. |
| realbombchu07-04-07, 11:29 AM | Thanks, I worked hard on it. Yeah, Heat Endurance is from Sandstorm, but it's very situational, and all of the desert races in the book have it, I think, so it's really almost expected, and since weather is often overlooked in gaming, even in the desert, it's not much of a feature. |
