The messenger breathed heavily as he ran to a nondescript bar in town. The enveloped half crumpled in his hand. Thought it rather silly to be taking a letter to a blind woman. Almost insane. The money was good enough, and that came with speed. He pounded his young legs with ferocious speed and pounced over animals and crates that were scattered about the marketplace. Eventually he found the place and slammed through the front doors.

"Message for Silxa...."

He panted as the envelope was put on the table. Light fingers ripped the seal off and whispered words came out of the envelope instead of paper...

"I have a new trinket for you my dear. Perhaps the finest I have seen in some time. This is assuredly worth double my usual commision, but for you, my best customer, I will settle for one and a half. Meet me at the same place, same time, and bring payment. Good health, and safe travels to you."

Silxa listened intently to the whispering envelope. Her face light up with a smile and she nodded in agreement to her own thoughts. She quietly set down what she was doing, and laying down a handfull of small coins, dismissed the messanger boy.

She slung her bag over her shoulder, wrapped herself in a cloak, and taking up her staff made her way to the door and out into the cool damp morning. She made her way along the main road in front of shops and stores. After traveling some ways she stops and listens to the morning bustle before turning off onto a side street and disappearing down a flight of damp old stairs at the end on an ally.

She stood under the leaky eave of a collapsing doorway and knocked on the poorly hung door. It opened and she stepped in to the dark room. As soon as she was clear of the door, the man behind it closed it and led her over to the far corner.

Jax shut the door softly with a smile. His crude features were shaded in the dinginess of the curio shop and the faint twinkling candles cast an eerie glow about the room. But this meant little to a blind woman.

"Silxa...Yes. I was expecting you...You are most prompt precious...I respect that very much in a client. I thought you would be most interested in my new stock. The greatest treasures from the farthest places, thats what you find at Jax's Gems! I have a little of everything. Mythic weapons of kings, burial shrouds of saints, Angel's wings...All is available for the right price..."

He began to shamelessly attempt to hawk worthless crap to the blind woman...But as it is always said, when one sense is lacking, others componsate.

"Come now, Jax. I know you do not send me messages for no reason. I do not want the same old cloaks and daggers. You of all people should know by now that I am only interested in the exceptionally rare," Silxa stops him mid sentence, "Do not toy with me; I hear deceit, or more boldly, a load of manure in your voice. Where is this trinket that was mentioned? I would like to behold it. And as always, I am in a bit of a rush to get the dealing over with. One can never be too hasty where magic is involved."

She awaits the reply as the man hurries to produce the object.

Jax smiles and his age shows...His voice becomes softer and less hurried...

"Fine fine...As you like...I knew you wouldn't go for most of my items, but you do understand that I must try. The item that I have procurred for you on this occasion is a pendant that is exceptionally old, and one of a kind. It traces back...Far past the wars in Celestia to the dark days surrounding the ascention of the new Council...I procurred it through my usual meens, and it cost me a pretty penny, but I knew that you would be interested...The conditions under which this trincket waqs forged were not allowed to me, which only makes me wonder more...It has a most potet charm on it. It holds protection in the broad sense, but I do believe in fact that it is much more specific in its use...I experimented on it a little, and I have developed a theory. It has a potent protection enchanment on it in addition to some other more devious charms. Against pickpockets and deceit I am sure of, but there is another strain of magick in it that I cannot begin to fathom...For this I will have to charge you double my usual fee. But I do believe that it is well worth it...."

He unlocks a large chest with an odd looking key and takes out an odd looking pendent wrought of metal not of this world. It glistens in the candlelight but only so faintly. If one were to look in depth at it it would almost disappear. Almost like a waft of air. It is cool to the touch and displays an angel with folded wings wearing a hood clutching a large jewel that radiates color all about it...

Silxa held out her hand to recieve the medalion. Gently turning it feeling every last bit of its surface. A soft, warm sensation fills her hands and travels up her arms. It is soothing and calming the way it effects her.

"I shall take it," Silxa whispers, "It is wonderful. Dig down into my bag and take the amount you ask for plus two gold. You deserve it, my confidant."

Taking the designated amount the man guides Silxa back to the door and opens it. She smiles still turning the pendant over and over in her hands the whole while. She gently lets it slide into her bag as she steps out into the daylight. Leaning over to kiss Jax on the cheek before he slams the door, she says, It will be sometime before I get back this way. I must get this to me stash. Do not worry I will stop by as soon as I return."

He closes the door as she turns to make her way up the stairs. She makes her way back to the main street and finaly down to the city gates. Silxa quietly walks out of town off into the vast world.

Jax whispered to himself as he bolted the door...

"I hope you handle all of the expenses of that charm dear, sweet Silxa. But it is no longer my affair."

He counted his coin and would never learn that he was dearly wrong.
