| Arathil11-08-03, 06:09 PM | This is a continuation of the Greyhawk, Southern Journey plotline. Arathil is now heading slightly eastward, in an attempt to regain control of his family's ancestral home from the devil that drove his grandfather out in the first place several decades earlier. Castle Greystone will be used as a staging point for the second line of defense against the invasion expected, based upon Siani & Co.'s reconaissance, to be massed come spring. This adventure is open, and anybody who wishes is welcome to create a character and join in. You do not have to have a character ready prior to expressing interest; feel free to ask questions, chat, and the like. However, there are a few minor constrants: ...Characters must be generated using the 3rd Edition or v.3.5 D&D rules, or else using Arcana Unearthed. Devil's Due will combine both extensive RP and dice rolling, and an actual character sheet will be necessary. ...This adventure is set in a closed-continuity Greyhawk. What that means, is that the Forgotten Realms, Dark Sun, and other settings don't exist, for all intents and purposes. There is no Shar, no Elminster, no Palanthas, no Paladine, etc. etc. and your character is not native to, has never been to, nor has ever heard of any of those things. Deep and in-depth knowledge of Greyhawk is not necessary----what is in the PHB will do----but be aware that iconic places, individuals, and so forth may come into discussion: if two other party members start discussing a particular name and attribute some level of importance to it, please ask OOC who it might be before simply assuming that your character has never heard of them. ...Several people have expressed interest in this adventure so far. The composition is similar to that of the group which went south: it includes holy warriors of the varying good alignments. Thus, evil characters are not appropriate, nor are any characters who might otherwise cause internal strife within the party simply by their nature. ...Characters should be created between the levels of 20 and 23. ECL and Level Adjustment come into play, here. Aside from that... you're welcome to be creative. Savage Species is an acceptable source of character generation, provided you make a character who won't be shot on sight on approach to a major city before he has a chance to explain that he's really a Nice Guy. The Book of Exalted Deeds, the Draconomicon, the Manual of the Planes, the Arms & Equipment Guide, the various class supplements, the Epic Level Handbook, the Psionics Handbook ("Psionics Are The Same"), and of course the core books are allowable. Also, the paladin variants and recent 3.5 updates from Dragon and Dungeon Magazines are allowed. Anything else... run it by me. I may ask for the information regarding it, but I am pretty open (honestly). Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed may be used, but remember that the Diamond Throne setting does not exist. You may be a Mage Blade, but you're an Oerth native anyway. This entails, amongst other things, a restriction to the Oerth races. As far as joining up in-character is concerned... you may either approach Arathil in the CRT chat and broach the subject in a common sense fashion (assume you've heard him discussing it with friends, or that it's reached you via rumor, perhaps) or you may wait for a sensible intro point in the IC thread and post your approach there. Either works. If I think of any more volumes and rules and shackles, I'll post them here ;). |
| Arathil11-08-03, 09:51 PM | I think requiring people to fall between the levels of 20 and 23 was a bit restrictive. Characters may fall within the range of 16 - 23, but do be aware that this will be a difficult game for characters at the lowest rungs of that ladder. We're trying to retake a castle, which a greater fiend has had three mortal generations' worth of time to make thoroughly his own. Of course... hide behind the rest of us for a bit, and you should turn out ok. ;) |
