The Original Poster returns!

I am here to request players for a thread which I'm going to DM. It'll be an adventure set on the Greyhawk world, for 4-6 1st level characters. It begins with a complete character background (made together by myself and the players who decide to join in).

I'll set the scene, then we'll have a short period of 'warm-up' where you get to know your own new characters, and then I'll set the adventure in motion. New players and old players alike are welcome to join in, but once it's full (if it ever becomes full), I have to start turning people away- that means, if you choose to request to join in... DO NOT JUST QUIT! If you make the commitment, you *have* to stick at it. I've had too many advantures quashed by players leaving half way, and not only is everyone else left feeling unhappy (and dissatisfied at an incomplete adventure), but it also means that other people who I turned away because the adventure was full could have been in the place of whoever left, bu they never got the chance. And because of this, please be aware-

If you request to play this adventure, due to it's very nature (as I have it in my mind right now), you must be sure you can make the commitment. If you can't... don't apply! Please?

Okay, so, that over and done with... to request to join, (if you aren't now waaaay too scared to actually do so by now), email me at

jeajea@blueyonder.co.uk

Please don't leave posts here... or, if you must, leave your email address. If you don't email me, or don't leave your email address, I won't even concider you. I'm being so harsh... I wonder... I'm not usually so mean. I'll be doing a cross between dicing and freeform - that is, combats will actually be totally random, but there'll be much more to the adventure than combat. Oh, and I give you a much better idea of the whole plot once you've emailed me. And I'm about to go away for a bit, (so I was intending to let this 'stew' for a while, and if I get enough players - at least four - I'll run it. I won't otherwise. There needs to be enough people...) When you email me, peeps, don't start thinking too hard about your character - unless you have something very specific in mind, I want to create the character in tandem with you. I also want a more or less balanced party, so I'll be throwing it to the players who join what they play, to decide amongst themselves.

Oh, and it's not a first-come first-serve basis. If too many people apply, I'll have some kind of selection thing. Dunno. I'll decide what to do when (and if) I come to that. In the meantime... it's all about fun, people! Don't be scared of me! :) And apply for my (highly unusual?) adventure and style of DMing! :) I'll start sending out emails back in about... a week? I have holiday now... so, see you all in a week!

Hi Jeajea. I'm going to leave a reply here anyway.

Just wanted to say it is nice to see an adventure in the Greyhawk setting for low level characters. Best of luck with it. :)

Siani, the crispy WizO.

Thank you, Siani!

I shall do my best and see what comes out of it. There's not a *massive* interest, thus far... come on people, it's like a whole new world you could explore! Low level gaming! C'mon! It might even be... y'know... fun? Add back some of that oh-so-lacking uncertainty about you're character's amazing, Godly prowess? Back to basics? No? Anyone?

Don't make me have to beg, now...

So, here's an update for people. I have three volunteers into the madness. (It's also an excuse to bump this up to visibility ;))

Any more takers? I deliver my virdict about whether this runs or not soonish. I need *at least* one more person. Maybe I'll come and chase some people... MWAHAHA! Feeling the Halloween vibe, anyone...?

Having checked when I sent the e-mail, it seems I'm one of the three mentioned. This sounds like a wonderful chance to start up a new character and I'm surprised more people haven't joined. Feh, remember you can always add another 10 levels to it before you take it into the chat rooms. So, anybody else out there interested?

I am also one of those three. C'mon peoples! ye know ye want to try your hand at some good ole fashioned RPin! where is your sense of adventure?

.............player o gell/talon/resh/some dwarves......etc, etc.
Traveler

Well I am one of the three too, and I know of a fourth who has emailed Jea.

At this point I think it is Jea himself we are waiting for.

Hmm... three people... I want at least four. We really do need at least four, preferably five or six. I think the ideal is five, six is posible, more is too much, four is possible, but three... we really can't do this with just three. Maybe I should advertise on the ISRP boards? I don't really know how else to get another couple of people. If they don't comment here... or I could head-hunt people, too. Oh, and would the player of Gellaenen like to email me please? :) At my jeajea@blueyonder.co.uk addy? Thanks. I guess I'll try head-hunting first, and then if that fails, I'll resort to a general advert. It's probably not okay to do that, I don't really know. Maybe I should get the advise of a WizO. Guys? Siani? If you read this, please give me guidance?

Hey Jeajea! I sent someone your way. He never emailed you?
Acaed

11-15-03, 08:47 PM
I'm in, Jea! If you'll let me play as Acaed...and...and...drop me an email, okay? aseal0105@mail.com

Catch you later,
-Andrew, aka Acaed
Kathryn_aka_Kat

11-16-03, 10:46 AM
Um, I don't think he'll let you play the char of Acaed? If you read the first post, we're starting up brand new first level chars.

Which, for me, is a big part of the fun of this, hehe.

So far, the people to have applied are...

Kathryn_aka_Kat
Gellaenen
Traveller
Acaed
Myranthor
Katie

So, that's six. Unless I choose to remove people from the group (and even then, it would have to be two people removed), concider it filled. Most likely, it will stay that way. Now, I shall send out a general email to you all. Further details will follow.

Well, here I am! You already know I'm interested, I believe, so I'll just leave it at this.

Update:

I have permission to show the emails of everyone except Acaed, and the RL names of Katie, Kat and Traveler. More emails and stuff to follow, and we're getting close to beginning character creation. I hope you peeps can stand the wait!

:bump: ;)

Update:

Everyone's RL names permission. We've started deciding basic character information.

Yet to come:
Finishing basic stuff;
Fleshing out characters with history and personality (done in tandem with me);
Working out the interpersonal politics (with me and each other);
Doing the first character interactions (chatsite / boards / email);
Inserting the 'mole' in the party... no, just kidding;
Start playing!

Update:

Okay, character creation has gone as far as this to this point:

Kat's player has said:
Bard
Ranger
Sorcerer
Fighter
Wizard
And on races:
Human, Half Elf, Elf, Halfling, with slight preference for female

Gell / Resh / Talon's player has said:
Dwarven Fighter

Traveler's player has said:
Female Human Fighter

Myranthor's player originally said:
Hobgoblin Monk,
But he's changed it to whatever the party seems to need when others have chosen their characters.

Acaed's player said:
Drow Sorcerer
Which I veto, on the basis that I can't have Drow. The sorcerer part still stands as far as I'm concerned, though.

I still want:
Provisional gender(s) from Talon, Myranthor, Katie and Acaed,
Provisional race(s) from Acaed, Katie and Myranthor,
Provisional class(es) from Katie

And when we have those, we can start with firm decisions. If people who have already put forward some details would like to supply other things they'd be willing to play, that might help if we come into difficulties. Myranthor's player wanted a monk, but I suggested that as we have two fighters, that wouldn't be balanced.

Thanks,
~The DM

jeajea

12-04-03, 11:52 AM

Update (in nice logical list form):

CG Female Half-Elf Wizard (Kat)
LG Male Dwarven 'Warrior' (Gell)
NG Male Human Bard (Myranthor)
Cleric (Acaed)

So, I've been busy with a few interviews for university. However, that's all over now, and I'm going to start putting more time into this. I hope you're all still interested, 'cos if not... I don't want to think about it too hard, really. Right, so. Let's get this initial bit over with, then the juicy character creation can begin.

Don't you just love double posts? :bored:

So, I'll take this opportunity to initiate the next phase for people who've got basics down. If you want to, at your conveniance, write up some ideas about your character's past and email 'em to me, that would be great. Preferably as a word file, but in the email would be okay too. If it's a word file, though, I can edit it and have the edited bits / comments in red or blue or pink, so they stand out, then you can comment on the comments, and we (theoretically) make progress. I am aiming to interlock everyone's pasts with everyone else's, so you will all find out bits about each other in the process of this. It also means no one can finish until everyone has finished. So let's get cracking!
