Not long ago I came across he shapeshifter prestige class from Oriental Adventures and realized that it could grant you access to Master of Many Forms without any druid levels. I posted (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=845255) about it in the other optimization forum, but it led me to wonder...

Can we create a TRUE shapeshifter? Someone who can, any time he/she wants, become any creature or object he is familiar with of any size?

Changeling Warblade 4/Warshaper 3/Shapeshifter 1/MoMF10/Warshaper +1 is what I would do. Focus on Tiger Claw manuevers. You get all of the nice forms from EVERYTHING. Very versatile. BAB+14 Alternatively:

Warblade 4/Warshaper 3/Shapeshifter 1/MoMF7/Warshaper +3/Warblade +2
For a less versatile, but more powerful form. Tiger Claw again. BAB +16. : )

With both, you get 20 hours per wildshape, at least 8-11 uses of wildshape, and access to forms up to your hitdice. No spells, but you're a good martial character.

w00tw00t. I REALLY do not know how you could become Constructs, but you can also take Exalted Wildshape/Abberant Wildshape/etc to improve your abilities. How about:

Fighter 2/Monk 3/Warshaper 3/Shapeshifter 1/Warshaper +1/MoMF10

Feats:
1) Sacred Vow
3) Vow of Poverty
6) Multiattack
9) Exalted Wildshape
12) Improved Multiattack
15) Rapidstrike
18) Improved Rapidstrike

Hmmm.... very broken.

Yes. It's called a Wizard. The spell is Shapechange. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/shapechange.htm)

Thanks. Your post was unhelpful. See a wizard can only cast shapechange a few times in a day, then he's done... We're discussing a real shapechanger, not a crappy imitation one using a spell.

A guy who can change into a cup, then a fork, then a spoon, then a rat, then a pumpkin, then a... get the point?

We've already worked out how to get MOST creature types, I've just been looking for a good easy way to do objects and constructs/undead. There used to be a PrC that did this, if I recall correctly, but I can't seem to find it now.

So... if you have anything constructive to contribute then go right ahead.

I think you missed something. The shapeshifter prestige class has a level 1 ability which, if you have a racial ability to change forms such as a change shape ability or alternate form ability, you gain an extra number of wild shape uses equal to your normal number of uses/day from your race + your class level in shapeshifter.

With a changeling, you can change shape an infinite number of times per day IIRC, thus you get infinite wildshape. :D

Persistant metamorphosis, greater. I'm sure there is a way to get ML high enough.Metamorphosis, Greater

As metamorphosis, except that this power enables you to assume the form of any single nonunique object or creature (of any type) from Fine to Colossal size. The assumed form cannot have more Hit Dice than your manifester level (to a maximum of 25 HD). Unlike metamorphosis, this power allows incorporeal, ectoplasmic, or gaseous forms to be assumed.

You gain all extraordinary and supernatural abilities (both special attacks and special qualities) of the assumed form, but you lose your own supernatural abilities. You also gain the type of the new form (for example, dragon or magical beast) in place of your own. The new form does not disorient you. Parts of your body or pieces of equipment that are separated from you do not revert to their original form.

You can become just about anything you are familiar with. You can change form once each round as a swift action

Any ideas how to persist the metamorphosis spell?

Technically it only lets you change once, but with 5 levels in warshaper you gain the ability to change multiple times during the duration of the spell/power/ability, so thats no big deal.

Font of Power + Temporal Reiteration will make sure you never run out of duration, too.

Interesting, but I was hoping there was a way to do this for a non-spellcaster as above.

I'm sure a few feats could be worked up for the creature types not already covered.

Sorry. Just for clarification, I missed that you wanted objects as well. Persistant Shapechange gets all creatures and free changing and can be gotten easily (DMM and Animal Domain), at least.

Incorrect. The ability clearly states that it adds your shapeshifter level to the ammount of times you can naturally shapeshift. Thus, if you had a racial ability to shapeshift three times a day, and you were a level 3 shapeshifter, you could instead shapeshift 6 times a day. As changelings can already "shift" infinite times per day, it has no effect at all.

Trust me, I wish you were right ;)
