| Dragon Master04-11-04, 06:28 AM | A man in long, black clothing makes his way through the hard wind and snow. Leaning against his spear, Dragon Master walks slowly through the icy desert, each step more painful then the last. His long cloak is wrapped tightly around his freezing body, and finally he sees sight of the town he has been looking for. He smiles, his lips cracked with the awful howling wind and cold snow. He continues on, making his way up to the town gates against the ever-intensifying blizzard. By the time he reaches the front gates, he can no longer feel his legs, and he collapses against the doors, his holy symbol of Bahamut lying across his chest. The side door opens, and a short old man hurries out with two soldiers at his side. Looking around, nearly tripping over the half buried man, the old man frowns, and calls for the guards to help Dragon Master up. They hurry the near unconscious mage into shelter inside the town, and sit him down in front of a fire. The short man quickly hurries about, covering him with a blanket, and getting him a cup of hot soup as the guards walk out. “Blast man, don’t know how you got here through that blizzard… you’re lucky to be alives you is,” The short man says, but Dragon Master just shakes his head, his lips at the point where they are nearly frozen together. After about half an hour or so in front of the fire, Dragon Master finally sits up, having regained most of the feeling in his body. The short man walks back into the small room, and smiles. “Oh, up now are we?” The man chuckles. Dragon Master nods, sipping the soup again. “Aye… th-thankyou for your help… I’ll not keep you much longer sir,” Dragon Master says, finishing off the soup. The old man chuckles “Worry not lad… more paper work for me if you had of shown up dead on the front porch of this town. Technically I’m not aloud to let you into the town without first knowin ye name and business, but considerin the circumstances, I made an exception. But now that ye’re here, I’ll be needin that information.” The old man says. Dragon Master nods. “I-I understand. I’m merely p-passing through; I’m on my way up to Ice P-port, to the north on trade. However, I got lll-ost in the blizzard, and I’ve lost-t my carriage… I’m lucky I got here alive,” Dragon Master shivered through clenched teeth with a smile. The old man smiled with a nod, taking a seat in an old musty rocking chair. “And the name?” The man asked. Dragon Master smiled “Dernam… Yan Dernam…” Dragon Master lied… ‘Yan Dernam’ was just another name in one of the many fake names he had… why did he use fake names? Because he didn’t know what his original name was. The old man, apparently satisfied with his story nodded. “Very well Mr. Dernam… I can sympathise with you, and I would offer you money for a room at the tavern seeing as your carriage is lost, but times be hard and my hospitality unfortunately only goes so far as to a bowl o soup,” The old man said with a hesitant smile. Dragon Master shook his head, and stood up, reaching into a pouch and dropping a few coins on a table in the room. “You’ve already been too kind sir… thanks for the soup, I’ll spend the rest of the night warming up at the local tavern,” Dragon Master said as he stood up, still shaking a little but otherwise a lot warmer then when he had first come in. With a grateful nod, Dragon Master made his way out into the cold streets of the town. After a few moments of assessing his location, Dragon Master made his way over to the tavern. He opens the door into the tavern, wind blowing snow into the tavern door, flickering the fire. Dragon Master quickly closes the door, and looks around as he gets glances from some of the patrons. Dragon Master strolls into the middle of the tavern, a few of the patrons still looking at him expectantly. “I’m in need of a few hands to accompany me through the Great Mountains to the west of Ice Port… the journey will be long… dangerous… and hard…” Dragon Master says. Several of the heads cast looks down as he says this… one man, a short dwarf, chuckles, slamming his ale down, looking to Dragon Master rather dumbfounded. “Ye crazy boy! Past the mountains to the west of Ice Port be White Dragons,” The dwarf said. Dragon Master smiles and nods. “I know. Let any man who wish to travel with me speak up now- preferably I need at least one person to guide me… someone who knows how to live on the land… the more the marrier… payment will be half upfront, half when my quest is finished… also there be an equal share in treasure we find,” Dragon Master says, looking around. More heads turn down, and the dwarf simply chuckles, shaking his head. “Ye be daft boy. Good luck on ye ‘quest’, but I’ll have no part in it,” The dwarf says, turning back to his ale. Dragon Master looks around for any person willing to speak up. (((This thread is open to anyone, but is preferable for characters of relatively high level (between about 15-30. Preferably nothing higher then 30…) Its not set in any particular world or campaign setting, so feel free to bring in characters from anywhere on the map of the planes (keeping it within a dnd style play, no space aliens or anything please), just keep in mind that most people won’t of heard of Faerun. Naturally the scenario is primarily in an ‘ice’ setting, so pack warm clothing. There will be a bit of dungeon crawling latter in the scenario as well, so feel free to jump in whenever you want. I’ll be DMing the scenario naturally, so no god-moding, post friendly, and most importantly, have fun!! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.))) |
| Sliver_Over_Mind04-11-04, 07:03 PM | A extremely young looking female elf. she somehow seems less here and more somewhere else. "i'llll---ll taakkkkeee yooouuur gooolllldd, dooo jjuussst about aaannythinggg tooo gett out of thiisss blassted cooolld." she says stuttering with almost every word. "I cannn't stannnd this cooollld forrr verrry mmmuccchh looonger, aannnd I dooonnn't haveee annny mmmoonnney tttooo heeellllpp meee gett out of here..." she seems very cold despite the fact that she has many layers of clothing on. | Lord Tarran04-11-04, 07:54 PM | A boy in a dark red cloak raises his hand. Taking down his hood, he reveals a fair face, with blond hair, and blue eyes, with a flame seemingly in the pupils. For being this far north, he is dressed fairly lightly. Under his cloak can be seen robes of the same red color, a ruby crusted dagger at his side. He walks over to Yan, putting his hand out in friendship. If the man takes his hand, he will find that it is unnaturally warm, but not in a disturbing way. He speaks in a voice that seems has the warmth of fire buried in it, though the voice is smooth and welcoming. Seen now is his cloak clasp, a gold wyrm, wrapped around a ruby. Those versed in dragon knowledge will recognize it as the symbol of Sunmag, the good dragon god of Fire. Well met. I'm Sangil Firetongue. If your traveling in the frozen wastes, I might as well come along. I could use the trip, and a little companionship. Seeing the young elf, he takes off his cloak, and wraps it around her. She will find that wonderful bathing warmth covers her. ((Sangil is a Fire True Mage, a homebrew class of mine. I'm finalizing the Fire one right now, and this is kind of a run of it in RP, to see how it is. Game rules wise, I've have amazing control and immunity and healing from warmth and fire, resistance to cold, and an aura that grants that to all nearby. We'll see how this goes, shall we? Sangil is well, I want to say 25, but I'm not sure yet.)) |
| Pipers Youth04-12-04, 08:34 PM | Taul watched with great interest as the man in the long black clothing walked through the door to the Inn requesting men to go with him west of Ice Port. He had been sitting next to the right of the the young man with the dark red cloak crossing his arms. Taul wore heavy clothes all in white, this would give him camoflauge in icy white terrain. The only thing that wasn't white were his boots that were a solid brown that looked aged and worn. He tillted his head upward blowing a white strand of hair from his eye uncrossing his arms, "I will travel with you west of the Ice port and across the mountains, I am familiar with the land but I will be no guide of yours." The man stood up looking at the others who wished to travel with this man, "But if you want to cover any ground, we must leave soon before sunset." http://www.newwavegames.com/minis/contest/minidesign/imagelg/mikolajostapiuk2.jpg <~~~~~character |
| Dragon Master04-13-04, 04:35 AM | (((Figures... the day I set up a thread, the day after my internet months run out.... sorry for the delay guys))) Dragon Master shakes Sangil's hand with what seems like a sigh of relief. "Ah... a fire mage... your company would be much appreciated..." He notes the symbol and seems even more delighted "... Much appreciated... " Smiling, he ushers him, Sliver and Taul over to a seat by the fire. Most of the patrons have lost interest, but Dragon Master seems to speak in a hushed tone as if someone might be listening. However, with the howling wind outside, its hard to hear him up close. "Well met. My name is Yan," Dragon Master says, a faint hint of hesitation as he says the name 'Yan'. "I would know your names and what you can do..." He says, specifically looking at Taul and Sliver. He looks Taul over curiously. In response to Taul's comment; "I would need only someone who can find food should we run out and who can keep us alive should a blizzard arrive. I have a feeling getting to my location should not be so hard... however, protection from beasts and traps will be payed just as handsomly," Dragon Master says looking now between Sliver and Taul |
| Lord Tarran04-13-04, 08:50 PM | Wait a moment. Your worried abouta blizzard... oh yeah, forgot about that, not everyone has a warmth aura. We should be okay. I can focus a little extra magic into my outer shield and keep just about anything but white dragon breath out of it. I only radiate about 10ft though. Weather shouldn't be a problem for us. Monsters and traps however? Well, I can either blast them, or shield from them. Taul's right though. If we are to leave, it must be soon. The sun will be up in a few hours, and would be nice to move in our five hours of sunlight. |
| Dragon Master04-13-04, 09:56 PM | Dragon Master casts a worried look outside at the raging blizzard, and then turns to Sangil "Hmm... I was hoping to get at least one nights rest before we headed out, or at least wait until the blizzard itself calmed down a bit. However... if you believe it best to leave now, i'll not argue... just as long as we get to where I want to go safely..." As if to add to his words, another howl of wind echoes from outside the tavern. |
| Finwe04-13-04, 10:49 PM | Standing nearbye is a young looking elf, with silvery-platinum hair, and bright orange eyes, which seem to dance with flame. He seems almost otherworldly, and also somehow mentaly atractive. He is wearing very little clothes for the setting - in fact, he is wearing only a cutsom made crimson leather suit. A soft glow of heat emanated from him, and small jets of fire periodicaly formed in his hands. "Excuse me, but I happened to hear that your group is travelling to ice port. I myself am headed in that direction, for I am seeking a portal in the northern wastes. My name is Animus Acri. If you would not mind another traveling campanion, I would be glad to join your group. I have numerous fire abilities, which are very usefull. As some of you said, we should leave before dawn, to maximize our travel time." |
| Dragon Master04-14-04, 12:17 AM | (((Hmm, good to see that i'm hosting some good testing for fire based classes ;) ))) Dragon Master looks to the man, and bows his head politely "Well met. My name is Yan. Good to see another one on the path of fire... I would be happy to have you travel with us to Ice Port. If you are interested, there is a payment if you travel further into the wastes that lie to the west from there... the matter of payment and actual details of the quest I will explain once we are out of the town away from prying ears, but it will hold much danger... if however you are only going as far as Ice Port, that is understandable, and you are still welcome to travel with us." |
| Pipers Youth04-14-04, 11:02 AM | Taul shakes his head to himself and mumbles under his breath,"I swear these damn mages and there egos." Taul picks up a leather satchel where he was sitting and fastens it around his neck and grabs his weapon laying by his side( seen in picture above). ooc...takes deap breath and exhails... well oh well, so much for the roughing it out way. Come on... fire mages in the Icereach? Oh well...ooc |
| Lord Tarran04-14-04, 05:59 PM | OOC: Where else would you find fire mage? Volcanoes? HA! Then things would be immune to their powers. Smiling, Sangil says to Animus, Ah, another follower of the Flame. Glad to see one other is among us. You and I, if we get the chance, should share how we channel. Yan, I think that we are ready once you are. I'm positive I can shield us from this storm. |
| Pipers Youth04-14-04, 06:11 PM | ooc...cough... well um er, there is a ....sob.... no I'm wrong...gains composer.... well then let's go mister quote"I'm positive I can sheild us from this storm." unqote lol. ooc |
| Dragon Master04-14-04, 08:06 PM | (((Wonders if I should create a thread for OOC comments....))) Dragon Master looks to Sangil and nods, still looking very worriedly outside at the storm. Dragon Master wraps his cloak around him and stands up. "Very well. I'm guessing the trip to Ice Port shouldn't be more then a few days." With that Dragon Master heads out of the tavern with the others into the howling wind that is the blizzard outside. Dragon Master leads the group to the gates out of town, staying close to Sangil for the warmth aura. The old man that had helped Dragon Master watches the group curiously from his post at the gate and shakes his head. Once they are out of the town, and a small distance away from it, Dragon Master looks to the party and smiles over the howling wind. "Now... first things first. My name is not Yan, and I do appologise for the fake name, but its rather neccesary. The truth is, I do not even know my real name, and instead I take on my title, 'Dragon Master'. The reason I do not refer to myself in such away, especially here, is because of my business in the wastes west of Ice Port." Dragon Master sighs, wipping some snow out of his eyes. His tone turns somewhat serious as he looks up to the party again. "I'm on my way to meet with a very powerful White Dragon... however, i'm very much unwelcome, and the dragon has many spies in these parts. I would ask that you do not speak of my intensions to 'meet' with this dragon to anyone." |
| Pipers Youth04-14-04, 09:06 PM | Taul listens with curiosity as the man named Yan unvailed his true name and intentions once a short distance out of town. Taul knew the moment that the black cloaked man walked into the Inn that he had potential and wasnt really meaning to just cross west of Ice port. No fool in his mind was travel this dangerous land. Just as Taul was about to speak and announce to keep the man's secret a loud female voice was heard over the sheer icy wind," Taul!!! did you actually think you could just leave me there at that Inn full of all those men you jerk!" A womenly figure apperared out of the blizzard and walked beside Taul grabbing his arm,"Ohh no ya don't not this time, your not losing me again" Taul lowered his head under his cloak as if retreating. You could hear a faint murmur under his breath saying,"Damn." He then quickly shook his arm off of her and spoke sternly,"Lena, would you be quiet I'm trying to hear what this man has to say, and your blabbering isn't helping!" OOC( This is Lena's picture below, sorry about this but I was going to do this when we were just going to walk outside the Inn.)OOC http://www.darksungames.com/dsgallery/animegirl.jpg |
| Dragon Master04-15-04, 12:58 AM | (((No worries, probably my fault, shouldn't rushed out of the town so quick ;) ))) Dragon Master looks over at Taul, and then to Lena and the faintest hint of a grin reaches his face. "A friend of yours?" Dragon Master asks, looking as if he was just about to laugh, but manages to hold it in. |
| Zanovie04-15-04, 02:49 PM | Heavily robed Zanovie makes his way out of what it seems no where as he makes his way over to Dragon Master and the others that are . His face hidden by the shadows of the hood that dreaps over his head, he speaks in a hushed yet forceful tone. "What is the full payment?" He seems ot have been following the group since they left the tavern. ((A little late to enter but here I am.... Zanovie is a lvl 20 Evoker, Wizard, lvl 5 pale master)) |
| Finwe04-15-04, 03:37 PM | "Then it seems our paths coincide, Dragon Master. I have heard of this white dragon, and the key to portal whcih I seek it in this dragon's hoard. I shall be with you until the dragon is slain or negotiated with, and I have recovered the key. At that point, we may part ways." |
| Dragon Master04-15-04, 08:06 PM | Dragon Master casts a glance over at Zanovie curiously "Payment is five thousand up front each, five thousand once the quest is finished, as well as an equal share in any treasure we aquire." Dragon Master looks to Finwe and smiles with a nod "As a Dragon Master, it is my duty to protect dragons, and every life is sacred, wether it be evil or good. However, this dragon 'Carn' has stolen something very important from my masters, and my quest is to use diplomacy wherever possible. If my negotiations fail, then full force is to be used. In other words... I must insist that no dragon be touched unless its absaloutley necessary." |
| Lord Tarran04-15-04, 09:59 PM | Well, in that case: Crack your knuckles and loosen your swords. I killed a few whites on my way up here, and they don't really like me much. I mean more than white dragons normally hate me. While he says this, he cracks his knuckles, and looks like he's praying. Suddenly, a burst of heat, warm comfortable heat is expelled from his boyd, in an aura of 10ft around him. It doesn't look like he needs to concentrate on it. The snow seems to melt completely as it hits the outer edges. Nothing wet passes through, though the snow on the ground remains as is. |
| Dragon Master04-15-04, 10:16 PM | Dragon Master nods "Perhaps... but I must ask that we try to negotiate before we attack any. If a white dragon shows a sign of hostility, then violence may be inevitable... and they normally do..." Dragon Master seems rather pleased at the heat warmth now around him and he smiles. "One last thing... if the negotiations fail, there are two items which I must insist on having. One is the item that he stole from my masters, and is a powerful item. It looks like a platinum box, and is very valuable. The other item is a blue potion... its practically worthless, and I don't really know what it does, but it is required for my atonement. If there are no more questions, I suggest we head continue on our way up to Ice Port." ((My computers going in for repairs... I hope to get it back by the end of today, but it may be a little longer, so if I don't post for a couple of days, don't fear.)) |
| Sliver_Over_Mind04-16-04, 01:02 AM | (OOC: oops, sry I guess I just lost track) The girl steps as close to any source of heat, trying to penetrate the cold "ahhh much better" she says much more crisply "good, a small bonus in addition to the benefits of a party" "no killing of creatures you say? no problem" |
| Dragon Master04-16-04, 03:23 AM | ((Ok, computers back from repairs... guess that didn't take as long as I thought it would :D )) Dragon Master looks to Sliver and nods "Just the dragons m'lady..." With that, Dragon Master turns and begins to walk to the north towards the town of Ice Port. The blizzard has calmed down a little, but still howls quite considerably, however Sangil's warmth aura protects them from most of the cold. "I expect the trip to be at least three days... possibly longer if this blizzard keeps up," Dragon Master says as he walks. He then thinks for a moment. . o O(Hmm... in a party of mages... someone would be bound to suggest it...) He turns and looks to the party with a sad smile. "One last surprise... some of you seem like able wizards, and may be capable of teleportation or flight spells. However, this mission for me is not only of diplomacy, but an atonement for my sins. It is like a test for me, and such spells may not be cast on my person. If you do wish to cast such spells on yourself, like flying ahead to scout, that would be acceptable... and probably welcome. But if such spells would be cast on myself, I would fail my atonement." With that Dragon Master turns and continues to walk through the Icy desert. One would assume that there would be a road up to Ice Port from the small town they were just at, but if there was, it has recently been buried in the Icy storm. |
| Pipers Youth04-16-04, 11:55 AM | Taul perks up a bit at dragonmaster's statement,"Yes that's a great idea, may I suggest that Lena stray ahead of the group for that task." As her partner says this Lena bites her lip and hits Taul on the head,"Why you selvish jerk! Just another way to get rid of me neihh? Well it aint gonna happen!" Meanwhile Taul rubs his head as if a coyote licking it's wound. ooc...ohh good Tarran I'm glad your not using that kind of character, I would just say so much for not going higher than level 30. But anyway I'm going a little off topic...ooc |
| Zanovie04-16-04, 11:06 PM | Zanovie smirks as he hears teh amount of payment. "Then I will join in your atonement..." At the sign on heat Zanovie makes his way outside of the 10ft radius with discomfert from the climent change. With a sigh as he shakes his head Zanovie keeps an eye on the others and keeps to the cold climent, his gray robes flapping franticly in the chilled wind. After a moment he summons his fimilar to his side, a simple Ice imp named Grooth. Grooth> speaks in a impish voice, (not like egor)"Yes Master..." Zanovie Speaks quietly to the imp,"Stay at my side I may need your aid on this journay." ((Ummm just wodner Dragon Master, What are you doing to your computer to make it kick the bucket so many times?!?!?)) |
| Lord Tarran04-16-04, 11:23 PM | Disturbed that someone would actually leave the comfort his aura provided, Sangil suddenly sees the ice imp. With a great deal of control, he brings hands down from the sudden ready position they had found, quickly dispelling the beam of fire that had been growing there. With a clap, the flames are gone, though the heat remains. Grasping his amulet, the ruby begins to glow, quickly raising to a temperature that would have burned him had he not been one of fire. He seems much more awake now, revived in a way, as his eyes flare into fire. Scanning the area around him, he points to a nearby ridge. He says, the wind not penetrating his aura to ruin the sound of his voice: Dragon Master, to you see that ridge up ahead. That crest on it, from here, looks draconic. Can you tell? My eyes end about 30ft before it. Also, if it matters, I would be honored to help another creature of dragon, but right now, I think we might have trouble. Did I mention that one beast got away from me? I nearly had the bastard, before he teleported out of my blast. |
| Dragon Master04-17-04, 02:08 AM | ((Hehe, long long story Zan... the one that actually went into repairs yesterday was my dads computer (the one i'm on now), and the one i've been using for a while (it was getting upgraded). My computer, which i'm sure you remember blew up about a month ago, I got back... but... the monitor on it blew up, and it had to go and get repaired... again...)) Dragon Master casts a suspicious glance at the Ice Imp, and then to Zan "That Imp had better not cause us any trouble... I just got out of a very bad situation with an army of demons, I've no wish to have problems with beings from the lower planes again..." Dragon Master looks back to Sangil, and up to the ridge he's looking at. He frowns, and looks back to Sangil "Do you think so? Its not like dragons to venture out this far towards towns... I would suggest we make our way around it, i'll not risk open battle with a white dragon so close to a village... but if it is after you... perhaps there is little choice..." Dragon Master says this with a worried look in his eye, and his hand dangles near his spear as if deciding what to do. |
| Pipers Youth04-17-04, 01:20 PM | A wiery smile formed on Taul's face at the newly appeared imp. He raised his hands and cast a shadow spell that enwraps him in a dark shadowy cloak that looks as if it is going to engulf him. In a split secound it vanishes and comes to life again near Zanovie's side out of the warm aura. Taul clasp a hand on the man's shoulder,"It his always good to see a fellow summoner, I knew I sensed an imp hiding on one of the planes." Taul released his hand and clamped once with a grin on his face. Suddenly a smokey figure appeared right beside Taul crossing his arms. It was a djinni, a higher demon in class and power. It gave a grin and said in a sarcastic voice,"Yes Taul you called." Taul cocked an eyebrow in frustration and said,"I charge you Bartimaeus Sakhr al- Jinni to serve me on this journey as long as I desire." Bartimaeus gave a wiery smile and transformed himself into his prefered character, It was a small tan skinned boy with black hair wearing heavy clothing. This boy was Bartimaeus's old master that grew attached to the djinni for years. ...The boy looked up at the upcoming danger that some of the people in the group has noticed exept for Taul... |
| Dragon Master04-17-04, 07:43 PM | Dragon Master really hadn't noticed the summoning of another creature, his eyes were somewhat distracted on the ridge that Tarran had described to him. His hands were now clenched firmly aroun his spear, and he looks over to Tarran. "Your call... go around or investigate it?" |
| Lord Tarran04-17-04, 09:20 PM | Go around. I don't want to take chances. Sangil says. |
| Dragon Master04-17-04, 10:35 PM | Dragon Master nods, and looks to the party "Be on your guard... we might have a dragon after us already." Dragon Master pushes a button at the base of his spear, with ancient draconic and ignan runes enscirbed on it. The spear head opens up with a clicking sound. A small amount of heat can be seen at the top of the spear where the head opened, and one would guess that something hot could come out of it at any moment Dragon Master wished. Dragon Master leads the party out and around the small ridge. Once they are past it, Dragon Master heads back on their original course. Looking back, if it was indeed a dragon, there is no sign that it is following. Not long after walking, both the town, and the ridge, are out of sight. The blizzard seems to have calmed down a considerable amount since they had left, and visibility has increased dramatically. For those outside the warmth aura, a cold wind still howls... but those outside the warmth aura seem to be more then accostomed to the cold. The treck has been rather plain, and the only real sign of scenary one has seen is the occasional top of a tree poking out of the layers of snow. After a few more hours of walking, what you can see of the sun begins to set, and darkness begins to sweep across the Icy landscape. Dragon Master looks to his companions, apparently exausted from the few hours of walking. |
| Sliver_Over_Mind04-18-04, 12:13 PM | after seeing the demons summoned the girl whispers "oh to idiots fools and weaklings." she summons up energy from within herself focusing it with quick gestures and strange words, projecting a channeled bolt of heat straight upwards. afterwards she said a few last words in draconic before letting the spell go to drift into the aether. |
| Zanovie04-18-04, 05:03 PM | Zanovies smirks at Dragon Master's first actions to the appreance of his fimilar. He speaks in a windy tone toward Dragon Master and only thoughs with very well hearing will be able to of heard it over the wind, "The Imp is at my command, and he is jsut to aid me incase I find myself surrounded by people lookingo ut for their own hides." His eyes glances over toward the Elven madin, his brow narrowing some what. Then his attentiong turns to Taul a bit frustrated at the sudden pat on his back, but says nothing. |
| Dragon Master04-18-04, 07:44 PM | Dragon Master shrugs "As long as it doesn't bring more evil to my door then necessary, or put a black cross against my name, I guess it can hang around. For now however it would be best if we set up camp in these last lights of the day perhaps?" |
| Finwe04-18-04, 09:02 PM | "Camp may be a good idea, for not all can survive the bitter cold of these lands alone. We will not need a fire; I will provide." Animus concentrates for a minute, and suddenly a wreath of flames envelops him, crackling in the wind. He seems utterly unharmed, even pacified by the flames. "There, we should be warm for the night." |
| Pipers Youth04-18-04, 10:59 PM | Taul was angry at the silent response. To angry at that, the man thought to himelf,'Yes a typical archmage.... why if I had the mind to, I would order Bartimaeus to turn into something rather nasty and goble that imp right up." Instead Taul walked away, the young boy form of the djinni right to his side. The djinni looked up at Taul with large brown eyes," Taul you can expect that from most archmages, no scense of humor at all." The two walked over by the fire and sat on the fridged ice ground. As soon as they sat Lena bounded from nowhere shuving Taul from his seat and looked at the boy,"Oh hey Bartimaeus." |
| Dragon Master04-19-04, 12:36 AM | Dragon Master looks to Animus and smiles "Excellent. If it is alright with everyone else, i'm going to head straight to sleep... i've been walking all day, and I need a good nights rest. I'll take the last night watch... I need as much sleep as possible... just make sure that there is someone on guard at all times. Dragons aren't the only threat out here." With that, Dragon Master sets up his bedroll and after about fifteen minutes, he falls quietly asleep as the last sheds of light fade from the sky... the blizzard is now all but an occasional flake of snow, but the wind still howls with an icy hatred. |
| Sliver_Over_Mind04-21-04, 09:57 PM | the girl quickly falls asleep, just before she is completely asleep, a shadow flies overhead, before anyone could see what it was, it disappeared above the cloudline. she whispers quietly to herself "not now Eve, just five more minutes?". |
| Dragon Master04-21-04, 11:52 PM | As the party begins to head off to sleep, and the area around them is nothing but pitch black, lit only by the fire of the camp, people who are still awake or on look out hear a strange flapping sound from up above, but what ever is causing it is not visible in the current light... those with Darkvision will notice two bird like shapes high in the air, apparently looking over the camp. |
| Zanovie04-22-04, 03:08 PM | Zanovie shutters with uneasiness as he watches the blurred images fly in teh distance. He galnces over to Grooth which had fallen alseep before him, he takes hold of a good size rock and throws it at his imp to wake it up. Zanovie," Blasted fool stay awake, who knows when the foul lizards will attack." Sleeply grooth wakes and turns to his master with a hurt exprestion, but Zanovie only replies with a cold stare back at him. Grooth speaks quietly to himself, "Meanie." Soon the imp too see what makes his master so uneasy and goes on a alert mood, keeping as quiet as possible. |
| Dragon Master04-22-04, 08:15 PM | Suddenly the flapping sound in the sky gets louder, and the blurred creatures in the sky get closer to the camp... fast. Suddenly, a screech can be heard from the sky like that of a beast. One of the creatures sours down at the camp, and from the creature a blast of sonic energy pummels down at a nearby tree, creating an explosion of shattered wood and snowy earth. The creautres are now no longer as blured, and looking up you can see them as reptilian creatures with large wings, a horn on its reptilian head, long tail and a strange looking fin on the back of the creature. Dragon Master had been asleep and had not heard the creautre approach, but he had been near the tree that blew up, and that certainly woke him up. A small cut is visible across his face where apparently a piece of wood had made its mark. His spear is in his hand, and he looks around rather confused "What in Bahamuts tail? Whats going on?" |
| Finwe04-22-04, 10:04 PM | Animus, having already aquired his alloted "sleep" requirement, had heard the creature with his keen ears before it came. He took off to the skies, jets of blue flame streaming from his feat (I know - cli-che). He hurtles several balls of flame at the creature. Unable to see if they hit their mark in the darkness of the night, he swoops around the beast in a complex pattern so as to be hard to hit directly. "What the heck is that thing?" he thinks to himself as a blast of sonic energy ripples the hairs on top of his head, he himself having just dodged it. |
| Dragon Master04-22-04, 10:22 PM | The creature that had just launched its attack was flying with its back towards Animus as he flew after it. However, as the balls of flame shot out towards it, the creature swooped to the left as if it knew they were coming- but it definately did not look back. The balls of fire fly past the creature, not hitting it, but they do eluminate the sky for a brief moment. The creatures partner, which had been in the air near its companion, swoops to the right, and a devestating screech can be heard from the creature. From the horn of the second repitlian creature a line of pure sonic energy shoots out at Animus. Dragon Master, taking advantage of the light Animus's fireballs had created in the sky takes a moment to study the creatures. "They're definately not dragons... at least not one i've ever heard of or seen before" Dragon Master shakes his head, and pushes a rune at the base of his spear. The spear head opens up, and he points it towards the sky. A charging sound can be heard from the spear, and a moment later three balls of fire shoot forth from the spear out at the sky. Unfortunately none of them hit the intended marks. |
| Sliver_Over_Mind04-23-04, 12:03 AM | the girl woke up as soon as the tree exploded, flipping up with amazing grace. she screams something in Draconic, and a massive form bursts out of the ice not far off, throwing huge banks of snow as the creature unfurls it's massive wings. "Evensaru! come to me!" she tells the form, as it comes near at an amazing speed, it's form is clearly draconic, it banks, scooping up the girl and throwing her onto it's back. rather than killing the strange creatures, it tries to impress them on the hoplessness of their battle. (OOC: no this is not power gaming, it is a mature adult dragon, I can do this through an adapation of the dragon comrade. (a psionic prestige class now made arcane) this is an actual character) |
| Lord Tarran04-25-04, 01:22 AM | YRTHAK! EVERYONE DOWN! Sangil screams, as his hands are covered in balls of flame, his clothes suddenly changing to gorgeous chain mail, with a lovely red hue. His eyes turn red themselves, as he begins to float several feet of the ground. Clapping his hands together, hard, it seems that a ball of yellow fire is wrapping around the inferno already on his hands. With a draconic roar, the balls explode outward creating a loud sound, sure to attract or scare anything reliant on sound. If they come for him, he flies at an equal speed, maikng them follow him. If they let loose their sonic blasts, he brings up a fire shield to take the blow. If they do nothing, he lets loose a bolt of crimson flame at the nearest one, which, if it strikes, will wrap around the beast, and drag it to the ground. Still screaming, Sangil says: They rely on sound. I've dealt with them before. These two don't look very strong, let me take the first few hits. |
| Dragon Master04-25-04, 01:35 AM | Dragon Master looks at the apperance of the dragon rather curiously and smiles, and then turns his attention to Sangil "A what? Yrthak? Never heard of those..." As the blast from the Sangils strange fire spell reaches the Yrthaks, they let out a scream of what could only be anger and frustration. This, as well as the sight of two new occupants in the sky seems to set them unwary, and the Yrthak that had let out its sonic blast on Animus seems value its hide more then food, and quickly begins to retreat into the sky. The other however seems intent on getting a meal and boldly swoops at the ground- specifically targeting Dragon Master. Dragon Master, who had been concentrating a little more on Sliver's dragon with a strange curiousity, doesn't actually notice the attack until its a little late. The Yrthak wraps its claws around Dragon Masters waist, and begins to lift Dragon Master into the sky. |
| Lord Tarran04-25-04, 01:49 AM | Snapping his hand in the air, a whip of fire appears. Throwing the lash, it wraps around the beast holding Dragon Master. Charging towards the ground, Sangil smashes the thing into the ground. During its daze, Sangil flies over, and picks up Dragon Master, flying away with the other Yrthak at his heels, (I assume.) |
| Dragon Master04-25-04, 01:57 AM | As the Yrthak slams into the ground Dragon Master seems to take a rather large beating as well. The Yrthak which was smart enough to run is now out of sight in the dark night. Sangil succeeds in picking up Dragon Master, and the remaining Yrthak moans as it lies on the ground. Sangil will probably notice now that the Yrthak is in the light of the camp that its a little different to other Yrthak that he may have seen in that its scales are a lot paler, and is dominantly blue rather then green. A large red mark can be seen where Sangil's whip of fire had dragged it to the ground. Dragon Master moans and looks up to Sangil, a number of bruises on his face from where he landed, and a couple of claw marks on his back where the Yrthak had him. "...ouch..." Dragon Master manages to mumble. The Yrthak is now getting up, and looks as battered and bruised as Dragon Master is. It turns and looks at Sangil and Dragon Master, letting out an explosion of sonic energy from its strange horn |
| Lord Tarran04-26-04, 11:49 AM | By the damned ones! Dodging out of the way of the blast, Sangil is unable to do anything to prevent the full blast from striking Dragon Master. He does however, throw a net of flame that absorbs some of the blast. Slightly shaken by the blast, Connor throws a true bolt of flame, a roaring stream of fire, that fries the horn, and most of the beast's head. Rushing to Dragon Master's side, he says to his now fallen companion: I think you'll be okay. I don't think that damn Yrthak can possibly still be alive. |
| Dragon Master04-26-04, 08:02 PM | The Yrthak is indeed dead, and Dragon Master looks up at Sangil with a nod "Thanks... ouch, I need a healing potion..." Dragon Master reaches for his pack and pulls out a small potion with a blue liquid in it and drinks it quickly. The claw marks and bruises on his body quickly begin to heal up, and Dragon Master stands, a bit wobbly, but keeps his balance none the less. He then makes his way over to the dead Yrthak and studies it curiously... "...so... what is this thing?" |
| Zanovie04-26-04, 08:47 PM | Zanovie blinks at teh sudden advancement of the Yrthaks. He sends his Imp into battle as he casts a magic shield about him as he makes his way over to the wounded Dragon Master. He stands at Dragon Master's side as well with a smirk as he looks towad the Yrthaks. "Well this wasn't what I suspected that we would encounter first..." Begins to consentrat as his hands begin to glow summoning magic missle. He launches the magic missles toward any of the Yrthak he can see. |
| Lord Tarran04-26-04, 09:37 PM | They're called Yrthak. They are an off shoot of wyvern. They are completely blind, and "see" through the use of sound. That horn is their sensory organ, as well as their primary attack focuser. They focus high powered sonic energy through it, and let it out in an explosion of force. They generally don't live this far north however. Walking over to the body, Sangil laughs, and says, I see why this one is this far up. Theses are the northern version of the creature. They are created from a white dragon mating with a yrthak.... we have a serious problem. |
| Dragon Master04-26-04, 10:01 PM | The other Yrthak which attacked them is now far out of sight, and only the body (and blown off head) of the dead Yrthak remains. Dragon Master looks to Sangil and nods "Indeed... do you think that they were sent by the dragon? It is unlikely that he would know of my plans to... 'meet' with him yet..." Dragon Master shrugs, and walks back to his bedroll, and wipes some debri off it and sighs "In any event, I don't think there will be any more for a while... and I'm afraid I cannot keep my eyes open for much longer." With that, Dragon Master spends the rest of the night resting, until his shift for lookout comes up |
| Sliver_Over_Mind04-27-04, 01:12 PM | the girl releves everyone of watch duty, as her and Evensaru have both had enough sleep. they watch from above, slowly circling, but high enough that they disturb no ones sleep. |
| Dragon Master04-28-04, 09:59 AM | The night passes relatively quietly, and no sign of harm bestows the party. The clouds from the blizzard the night before seemed to have all but disapeared, and all that remains is a very cold wind on the air. Dragon Master rises with the first shed of light, looking around curiously. He glances down a his tunic, specifcally at a small rip in it at his chest, which exposes the skin above his heart. It has been like this for some time, however Dragon Master notices that a platinum coloured ring has formed, looking very much like a tattoo of some form... but for some reason, it is only a ring... it seems that something is to go in the middle. Dragon Master smiles when he sees this, and looks to the sky "Praise... the north wind has granted me my right to cast spells..." Dragon Master grins, and gets up, sitting at the centre of the camp. He reaches for his backpack and pulls out a fist sized crystal ball. He holds the ball tight in both hands for a moment, and suddenly the ball levitates from his hand, much like an ioun stone would. However, the ball simply stays in front of Dragon Master's face. If anyone were to look at the crystal, they probably would see a picture of what looks like a spell book... Dragon Master studies the orb, every now and again the crystal orb spins, flipping a page... it would seem Dragon Master is memorising spells. |
| Sliver_Over_Mind04-30-04, 09:39 PM | the girl came into a short dive, to greet the dragon man, but pulled up as she saw what he was doing. she whispers something to the dragon, and cries forth, "greetings to the new day, may the power of light bear us and protect us in our endevours. |
| Dragon Master05-01-04, 01:27 AM | Dragon Master looks up from his study to Sliver and smiles "Indeed, and may the north wind guide our paths. I take it there was no direct trouble after I retired last night... I slept reasonably well, despite the snow beneath me." |
| Sliver_Over_Mind05-01-04, 12:06 PM | "you are correct. I am aware that you do not know what to call me by." "simply call me Evensaru, or Eve for short. I have no name any more, so I share a name with this dragon." together they swooped down, and landed "Go have your fun Eve, I am not entirely helpless." with this eve jumped off Evensaru. Evensaru leaped with power and grace, taking flight. |
| Dragon Master05-01-04, 07:23 PM | Dragon Master smiles sadly "Then it seems you and I have something in common, in that we both don't have our original names, and we both seem to have a connection with dragons." Dragon Master smiles again, and looks back to his spell orb, which has stoped spinning. He places his hand around it, and it stops levitating, and he puts it back in his back pack. |
| Lord Tarran05-04-04, 06:49 PM | Cracking his knuckles, and levitating in the air, Sangil pulls forth a staff. Soon, he enters a complex staff dance, spinning, blocking, fighting, all the time seeming more and more focused. As the mock battle dies down, Sangil looks more refreashed. Drawing a circle in the snow with his finger, he sits within it for five minutes, obviously meditating. Upon exiting the trance, he looks a great deal more awake. His aura is stronger now. Walking over to Eve and to Dragon Master, Sangil asks: What would you have me do this morning? I'm ready for anything. |
| Dragon Master05-05-04, 02:31 AM | Dragon Master thinks for a moment, looking around curiously "Hmm... well, I don't know about you, but i'm rather hungry... starving, actually, and I'm very low on rations. Before we go anywhere, I would recommend a small breakfast" Dragon Master looks around hungrily, rubbing his stomach |
| Sliver_Over_Mind05-11-04, 11:49 PM | Eve took her pack off, taking out some frozen bacon, some bread dough (sealed). she quickly took the bread and shaped it, then cast a spell of heat, cooking/ melting the food. "anyone?" she quickly chows her food down, leaving the rest for however wants it. |
| Dragon Master05-12-04, 02:25 AM | Dragon Master takes a couple of peices of food bowing in thanks to Eve "Thankyou m'lady. I will definately have to purchase more some more rations once we get into Ice Port" Dragon Master eats quickly, and when he is done he gets up, and looks around, a determined look on his face. When everyone is up and has eaten- if they chose to do so, Dragon Master adresses the party. "Well, before we go any further, I did promise an upfront payment, and I guess its a bit late, but here it is anyway" Dragon Master reaches into his backpack, and pulls out a bag of holding. He digs deep and pulls from the bag several bags of gold- each holding the promised amount. He hands them out to everyone/ "Well, assume everything is in order, I would suggest we head off as soon as possible" |
| Lord Tarran05-30-04, 11:48 PM | Sangil looks up from where he was sitting. He says: Whenever your ready... and keep your gold, I don't need it. I came for the fun, and the need to do good. ((I'm back)) |
