Without there super fantasy powers
Yet they still had there rich personality and driven moral ideals ))

It was tropical Brazilian summer’s day on the universities campus grounds.
Palm trees swayed slightly from the nearby sea breeze giving some relief to the busy students and dedicated faculty.

One such person walked among the school’s open commons area with his sack lunch in one hand and well worn bible in the other.

He was slightly over dressed wearing blue slacks and a white silk shirt that clung to him from the humidity in the air.

This long blond haired middle aged man who often thought about cutting his vanity of long locks; was brought out of thoughts by the sound of his name

“ Agudo.... Professor Agudo!”

The religious professor of the school stopped and turned to see who was calling him

A lovely young female student came running up to him
she had slight perspiration on her bronzed body due to her long jaunt from the classroom

With a bemused warm smile that he was renowned for on campus he greeted this dark beauty.

With a slight blush upon her sweet face speaking in her broken English accent she held out her hand
“You forgetting this”

Expecting some miss forgotten school work Agudo was pleasantly surprised to see a paperback book in her delicate hand
The sun light reflected off the embossed wording
Forgotten Realms ...Cleric Quintet

With small chuckle he put down his bible and soon to be eaten food on a nearby bench
Agudo took hold of the fantasy book and gave a overly dramatic bow added with a Portuguese accent perhaps not much better than her English

“Why thank you lady of grand timing!
May God smile on you this day
For I was about to enjoy this with my meal...or ...(Chuckle)
I would have if the Lord had not blessed me to be so absentminded!

Sitting down still smiling he offered her a seat next to him

She blushed once more and shook her head with a wave of her hand she skipped off to her next class of the day

Watching her leave Agudo reached into his back pocket
Pulling out a small corncob pipe he tapped it on his free wrist
Then brushing his short chin beard with it he searched for a match to light it with

It was then he saw his favorite white parrot that sat in one of the many trees that lined the campus
Agudo had taken to giving the snow white bird a name
“It’s a shame Lady Hoot that my student didn’t bring my matches as well”

The parrot squawked and flapped her lovely white wings
“Ha perhaps your right!
It’s bad for my health anyway”

With that Agudo said a little prayer of thanks to the Lord for his meal and this lovely day

A cool wind blows through the trees on this day autumn day In western New York as a young woman in her mid twenties makes her way down the quiet town street, her nose buried in a book. The title reads Dragonsdawn, By Anne McCaffrey. Lost in the world of her favorite Author she fails to see the small child running after her, till she gets hugged around the legs. With a slightly annoyed sound she flips her waist length white hair out of the way to see what hit her, but her annoyance soon turns to a small smile as she looks down at the toddler. She smiles kindly at the child, a student at the school in which she is a Teachers Assistant.

“Jacob Dylan, shouldn’t you be home with your parents.”

The child shakes his head no and holds out his hand, which the woman gladly takes. The child says in a sweet voice

“Mommy said I could go for a walk with you Miss Ruthia.”

Ruthia smiles and waves to the Childs mother, whom she can see watching from the front porch of the house. Turning and continue to walk, answer Jacob’s every question, they soon come to a small town park were Jacob gladly runs off to play. With a laugh Ruthia sits on a bench, content to watch the child, her book sitting forgotten on her lap……
Drindin

Drindin finished mumbling the poetic Benediction in Russian, and swayed the smoking censure about in the form of a cross, and turned to the congregation gathered in the giagantic Cathedral.
"Go in peace." He muttered. The congregation gathered their restless children and their hats and bags, as the rose, heading towards the now-open doors. Drindin himself stepped out of the pulpit, and changed into his dress shirt with the white bit at the collar, and threw on his black leather jacket. He slipped on his sun glasses, walking into the brisk, autumn air. He pulled out his remote starter, and clicked it, his white dodge F150 roaring to life. He got in, and drove off down the road towards the Albertan countryside.

He arrived home, and looked infront of his country side house. He sighed as he saw the large, green, military jeep with the big, white "US" painted on the side.

Drindin went into his house, and wasn't the least bit surprised to see his brother, Shawn "Shades" Trunin, sitting at the table.

"Hey, Drinny." He said with a smirk, dressed in his US Arm Ranger uniform.

"Good afternoon, Shawn. I suppose your off to some other Godforsaken war front again?" He replied, hanging his keys up on the hook."

"Yup. That dual-citizenship idea of yours really helped."

Drindin sighed again, shaking his head. "I meant for you to get one so you could move in with your girlfriend... not so you could join the US Army Rangers..."

Shades shrugged.

Drindin continued to avoid eye contact. "How's Krissy?"

Shades frowned. "She's... surviving..."

"Is the Chemo working?"

"It's helping... doctors say she might pull through, if we pray hard enough."

Drindin looked over. "Then pray we must."
Good Knight

10-04-05, 01:41 PM
New Orleans flooded streets were everywhere as far as the eye could see
One lone man wades his way through the muck and debris.
His salt and pepper hair is matted against his face as the last of rainy drizzle falls about him
The vest he wears bares the mark of the Red Cross

Breathing heavy from the needed endurance to wade through the water
This man of around fifty stops near a partly sunken retirement home for the elderly.

The door is eerily open as bottles and other trash float in and out
Taking a deep breath he reaches out to push the door further open
Inside a mix of darkness and light reflects around the splashing water against the walls

The smell is strong of death that he knew
Fearing what would be found this lone soul moved into and out of the many rooms

Until he found the one he was looking for .....

On the wall could be seen a picture of a familiar yet much younger man wearing the uniform of the Boys Scouts

Next to that ghost of the past in the picture was a middle aged woman with the same salt and pepper hair that he now wore
She proudly smiled next to her son all those years ago
Firecam thought about the words his mother said all those years ago

You look so dashing my son.......you will always be my hero

Brought from his dreams of the past was that smell death even closer

Shaking uncontrollably Keldorn turned to the sunken bed of his beloved mother
Her form partly seen submerged within that watery grave.

Slowly like dome nightmare he could not wake up from he reached out for her hand
The cold chilly touch was frightening yet Firecam pulled her close to his chest as he knelt down beside her

Several loud sobs escaped his lips, tears running down his cheeks as Keldorn head slowly lowered resting upon his mother.
Khaira

10-05-05, 09:11 PM
Khaira was in her dressing room, looking before the mirror, brushing her bright red hair. Around her room were various pictures; her family, her friends, her fans, and a picture of Athena and of Loki. Some often wondered why she had a picture of Athena, a Greek Goddess and Loki, a Norse God of Mischief (and, some said, evil) in her dressing room. Athena was, in fact, a very strong woman, of infinite wisdom and strength, despite the current social engendered values. And Loki ... well, he was just all around fun prankster. Despite the fact that he betrayed the gods during Ragnarok.

Khaira always got so wild during her concerts, but it was so great to hear the fans go wild! It was invigorating to feel the love of another ... the love of another... those words brought back painful, stabbing memories for Khaira.

"Dear, why can't you stay clean and respectable like your brother?"
"But mother, you don't understand. People love my wild spontaenity. It makes them laugh. These days, everyone's so concerned about finances, life, their health ... they need to laugh."
"That is absurd, daughter! Our family name has always been connected with respectability, professionalism, and presentation! You bring shame to our family name to bring yourself to look as you do!"

A knocking on the door brought Khaira back to the present. Brushing away the tears from her face, she managed to call out.

"Yes? What is it, dear?"
"Five minutes to curtain, Khaira!"

Five minutes ... only five minutes. Five minutes to out to those who loved her. But did they love her ... or her music? Well, did it really matter? She made people laugh, made people forget their worries. Her shows always sold out; whether that was because they were sold nearly twice as low as other performers or her music, she didn't know.
Her producers were often ashamed with her because she refused to let the ticket sellers sell the best seats. No, the best seats she would give away to the truly needy people; those with children, those with not enough money, or those looking in a state of despair. Part of her success was with relation to those people. She had been on the Today Show, 20/20, and other television sitcoms. She had started out in her musical and acting career broke, and she hoped that she was proof to those like her that one could do anything they wanted to. No, you do not need approval of your parents to do what you want to do.

"Khaira! One minute!"

She stood up, her hair falling around her shoulder like a wild, untamed thing. No, she didn't care how she looked now; her friends awaited her. Her fans awaited her. They needed her now.
Without another delay, Khaira strode out, a dazzling smile upon her lips.
Malendor...

10-05-05, 09:35 PM
The first thing you hear is gun fire all around. It's the war front, the last place any sane person would want to be. Yet hudled in a trench is one group of dedicated soldiers in the fight for freedom. This group of twenty young men check their weapons, one daring young man looks over the barricade. He's pulled down quickly by the soldier next to him.

"Mal, have you lost your mind!" Shouts the young man next to him by the name of Branth. They had meet when they shipped out for training and have been good friends ever since. Malendor looks at Branth with wide eyes.

"Damn there has to be at least a hundred of them over there!"

"All the more reason to stay DOWN!"

Suddenly a gernade goes off fairly close to the boys hiding spot. Their commander listens to his radio, then with a hand signle the talk stops. As one the 283 division of the US Army reserves stands and charges the enemy lines, prepared to lay it all down for the country they love......
