Hello,
I had a player come across an interesting idea. Combining improved trip with whirlwind attack. Since I didn't see anything in the rules that says you cannot use a trip attack (at least that is what I thought) with whirlwind attack. I do know that you wouldn't get any of the "bonus" attacks granted from the improved trip (based on whirlwind attack feat description). I just wanted to check with everyone and see what they thought...

Thanks

After looking both over, I would say they do NOT work together. Whirlwind attack is a full attack action.

At least, that was my initial, knee jerk reaction. However, some of the text leads me to think that is incorrect.

A trip attempt is made as part of an attack action. As whirlwind attack is a full attack action, made up of various attack actions. So, I don't see why tripping can't be part of any of those attacks, either.

I wold also allow the player to get his +4 from Improved Trip. Again, nothing that says that shouldn't be the case.

I agree that the person using improved trip should be allowed the +4 bonus.

It was my knee jerk reaction to a Full attack action... That and thinking about all of my big bad guys layed out prone...

I didn't have a problem with the idea.. and from what I have seen this is ok as long as they don't get the followup attack (bonus attack) from the improved trip.

:)
