>>ooc: Okay, this board is to answer any q's you might have regarding the main thread and also to just talk amoungst yourself of the goings on in the other thread. Also, I wanted to post the story, before the fall over the cliff, as to answer some q's and perhaps help someone with how to bring in their character. Okay here goes the story...<<

>>This is as if Cerrinity were speaking<<

Born in a kingdom, Kahlvahr, I was loved deeply by my parents. They say I stole the kindom's heart, as many grew to love me. There were still those that hated me for being born into a royal family, as they were deeply envious. I chose to ignore them as they liked to encourage trouble.

One lovely night, when I was 16 years old, I snuck out for a midnight stroll in the forested area behind the castle. I sat upon a stump of a tree that a woodsman cut down a couple of days ago. I just sat there looking upon nature's beauty, thinking to myself how I wished I could share stories or even have someone to speak with. Not to long after my thought I heard a woman's voice speak up.

"I will listen to you and you won't even have to worry about me telling anyone else."

I looked around but saw no one, so I spoke up, "Who are you and where are you?"

"Down here at your feet..."

I glanced down and saw a daisy moving. "Forgive me," I spoke to it, "but did you just speak?"

"Yes, and it is nice to meet someone who can talk to plants."

I sat frozen for a minute before moving or speaking again. "I didn't know I had such a power."

"Well, it seems you do.." Before the daisy finished its sentence a noise came from behind us. As I turned to around to see it, the person was already running in the shadows of the trees.

"I must be off for danger is near of maybe something worse."

"Please come back and talk with me whe
n you are lonely." I then turned and ran back to the castle. Where I seen my mother, father, and town's guard waiting for me.

"Princess Kahlvahrm, you must leave the kingdom while we figure out what must be done with you." I looked to my parents and they hung their heads low as they were deeply saddened. That was all I needed, I then sprinted back off toward the forest with hot tears rolling down my cheeks like rain drops on glass.

Upon reaching the forest I heard horses coming closer. I seen the speckled mares and weapons drawn of the kingdom's army. Not the entire army but a select number of them. Seeing that I started to run, and I ran for two days straight. I tried to gain distance in hopes of losing them, but they continued to stay at a mocking distance. As I continued to run I seen a cliff ahead of me almost before it was to late. Quickly I looked around for a way across the cliff and seen one, a bridge! I started to turn and run towards it but my foot slipped....

>>And from here we are taken to the main thread for the rest of the story. :) <<

Ooo.. and a pic of Cerrinity..

11-22-03, 03:17 AM
I'm sure it will. :)

Is this a lon-term thread or just a short single advanture? Or don't you know yet?
Cerrinity

11-22-03, 03:18 AM
I am hoping to make this a long term adventure... and trust me it will never be boring! :smirk:
Nugan Wracod Sr

11-22-03, 03:24 AM
Cool. :)

I've had experience with long-term threads before (My "The Apathy Guildhall" is the longest thread on these boards right now), so you can bet I'll be in for the long haul.
Cerrinity

11-22-03, 03:30 AM
Oh, so thats your thread? Its pretty packed isn't it? :)

I have a couple of others here I've started... Where Am I and The Four Oaks Pub. I just started those recently, however Where Am I is my oldest one....
Nugan Wracod Sr

11-22-03, 03:44 AM
Ah, cool, I've been around these boards and the ISRP chat rooms since '00. I've rped with both Ssun and Wraith before, and I like their play-styles, so this thread should be plenty of fun. :)
Cerrinity

11-22-03, 03:46 AM
Thats good to know :D I just hope I make it fun for the character and if I do then I've done my job. ;)
ThePreacher

11-23-03, 03:23 PM
As soon as I read the sign in the Flute inn, I'll check in.
But I just came to my senses, so it'll take a day or so. :D
Cerrinity

11-23-03, 03:47 PM
Okay, I'll send you some information via PM... so be watching for it! :)
ThePreacher

11-24-03, 10:40 AM
Hmmm... I didn't get any information by PM till now.
Well anyway, do I need to give you a description of my char and his stats? Or do I just step in when I wanna?
Cerrinity

11-24-03, 12:57 PM
Yes I know.. I meant to send you one earler I just got busy and never got a chance I will send you one now... :)

Thanks. I make them. How do you think i gots my Avy? Well, actually, i'll give credit to Edymnion, he's the one that gave me the base for my custom smiley and got me into smiley making... but thats not what we're hear to talk about.

Sorry Cerrenity, just before you made the OOC thread i bumped this one...guess i was a bit quick.
Cerrinity

12-20-03, 06:39 AM

I just wanted to say "Thanks for roleplaying so much with me on my birthday, iIt means a lot cuz this is really fun!!" :cloud9:

Thanks a lot guys! :D
Kami no Kenshin

12-20-03, 06:50 AM
Well, I'm glad you're having fun.

Unfortunately....I don't much feel like sticking around with Mr. Munchkin.

This is NOT a problem with you. This is a problem with certain people who think it's fun to walk into threads (without first asking the topic starter) and start hurling around ridiculously overpowered attacks because they CAN.
Cerrinity

12-20-03, 06:54 AM
I'm sorry about that guys... I should have thought it out better..

Sorry Kami for what was said to you

Sorry Dragon for you having to read it

Sorry Aravilar but your character cannot stay on this board.... kinda a majority vote type thing..

Goodness, that was the biggest spout of appologies I've ever had to do
Dragon Master

12-20-03, 06:55 AM
As we say here in Australia, "No worries".

Personally, i think this thread is great, and i've had a ball. This is the first time i've role played on the boards, usually i'm in chat. So, thanks Cerrenity for putting the thread up, and thanks for all of you who stayed up until 7:00 am to play with me (hehehe, its still only 11:00 pm here). Anyway, i hope we can continue running this thread, and Kami, i do hope that you will be stayin around. I know i am.

Anyway, happy birthday Cerrenity! And heres a band to sing happy birthday to you

12-20-03, 07:01 AM
Well, I am glad that you all are getting a lot out of this thread! That has been my main goal, to give a good adventure to the players and their characters! :D

Aww, what a cute little group of singers! *hehe*
Kami no Kenshin

12-20-03, 07:05 AM
No no. Don't apologize to me. It isn't necessary. I was not offended. Irritated, yes. Not offended. Besides.....in life we make enough apologies for our OWN behavior. We should never need to apologize for others. You brought a newcomer into the thread thinking that it would enhance the RP experience for all. Unfortunately....it didn't. You had no way of knowing that at the time......

I was not suggesting that the guy needed to get kicked out of the thread, merely that he needed to be more sensitive to the fact that not everyone is impressed by displays of Munchkinism. My only point was, that for the enjoyment of everyone a certain person needed to tone down his actions. I would be perfectly happy to RP with him, so long as he left the attitude and the "Super Powered God Character" in the thread that spawned it. We are all guilty of a little godmoding once in a while, myself included. I just don't like it when it's so blatant......
aravilar_holistacia

12-20-03, 07:08 AM
I apologize expressly to Ashley for this probably irreparable damage.

Happy Birthday once again.

To Kami: I have nothing further to discuss. I have sent you a PM; whether you get it when I am blocked is up to you.

To Dragon: I see you are an excellent poster. I apologize I didn't have the pleasure of posting with you... perhaps in the future you may wander over to another thread... and we will meet again.

To Ashley: You know what I'm saying. We have Yahoo Messenger.

Aravilar

Edit: Barring the fact that I had a good idea for this thread, I shalt not see you again. Good morning.
Cerrinity

12-20-03, 07:16 AM
Well, nonetheless, the thread is up and running nice and smoothly again.

So anyone want to hear of my B-Day plans? :D

1. Stay most of the day at a bookstore and catch up on all the latest magz and books

2. Go out to eat with hubby and friends, don't know if they are coming or not

3. Go home and watch movies..

Its not a big birthday thing, just something I thought would make this an interesting birthday!

Just for those who are curious on what exactly I did and if I stuck to my plans on my B-Day....

1. Went to bed around 6 or 7 (*hehe don't remember) and woke up at 10 am from a call from my sis who is in town with her baby and hubby, then went back to sleep and woke up again at 2 pm

2. Got ready to go out to eat

3. Before leaving I opened a gift from my father and mother-in-laws

4. After leaving went to grandma's house were sister is staying and played with my niece, Kaitlyn

5. Left there, cussed people on the roads  , and went out to eat... hubby bought a margarita for me! :cloud9: Surprisingly, I got a buzz from it.. obviously I have a low alcohol tollerance

6. Went to the mall... looked around in the bookstore, then went to the Dollar Tree, then went to Bath and Body works where someone woman was right in our way and refused to move :censored: Then from there we went to Software Etc and talked to one of the employees and turns out he is looking for a group to game with! So hubby talked his ear off for 30 mins about gaming...eventually I told him to stop talking and we exchanged 411 with the dude

7. Went home for a minute so I could change.. :twitch:

8. Left again and went to Books-A-Million where we sat and read for 2 hours and I bought 2 books
1) William Butler Yeats Selected Poems
2) Robert Frost's Poems with Intro from Louis Untermeyer

9. Came home, fell asleep on the bed .. woke up at 1 am the day after and posted a bit with Sussunriyh and Dragon Master. :D

Well, that was my B-day... it was quite fun!
Cerrinity

12-21-03, 09:04 PM
Hey guys! :D I just wanted to let you know that I may not be back on until tomorrow afternoon. I nearly passed out at church, had a hard time breathing, and got real dizzy. So... if you don't catch me on, post and I will be on tomorrow before I go DM a tabletop game.

Saw The Return of the King today. All I can say is....... damn. I may never see a movie (in theater) again.......

It was worth it just to see Gandalf thwack the Steward of Gondor on the head with a staff......

"Run!! Run for your lives!!"

THWACK!!! THWACK THWACK!!!!

12-21-03, 09:20 PM

Dragon Master

12-22-03, 05:48 AM
...why? Because it was so good... wait, if the answer involves a spoiler, don't say... i haven't read the books to be honest (well, i've read the hobbit and the first book... thats all).
Kami no Kenshin

12-22-03, 01:17 PM
The only spoiler you're getting was posted 6 posts ago ;)

I only had one problem with the movie..... I bought a large Pepsi and finished it halfway through...... and then I had to sit with my legs crossed because I didn't want to leave the theater:rolleyes:

...you're PMing yourself? And you're also... trying to ignore yourself... that has to be the strangest thing that i've heard all day.

Why were you trying to PM yourself?
Kami no Kenshin

12-29-03, 05:25 AM
Just screwing around to see what the software would let me do and wouldn't let me do. And if I DID buddy or ignore myself, what would happen. Man....I need a life.....
Dragon Master

12-29-03, 05:32 AM
chances are if you could ignore yourself, it would just show you there and not show what you wrote. And if you buddied yourself, then it would show your name in the user control pannel under buddies.
Kami no Kenshin

12-29-03, 05:33 AM
Probably.....but wouldn't it be funny? AARRGGHH!!! Curse this lousy human biological need for sleep.....goodnight.

aravilar_holistacia

I posted three or four times, and then Kenshin again storms off like a child. Without actually allowing me to finish.

A FRICKIN LOWER RESISTANCE SPELL!

Ever heard of spell thematics? ONLY IGNORANT PEOPLE run off threads because of others' posts.
Ssussunriyh

12-29-03, 07:50 PM
To be perfectly honest, I tend to agree with Kami's point of view about RPing style. Aravilar's character is a bit too... extravagant for my tastes. Too much showy magic used too freely and often. With him around, it's like the rest of us aren't even needed, we get reduced to spectators - including Cerrinity.
aravilar_holistacia

12-29-03, 07:54 PM
The point of elven magic is that it is showy.

I described the spell that way on purpose so that it would be RP-effective and not just

*casts lower resistance*

How would you roleplay Saruman trying to bring down the mountains in LotR: FotR? You wouldn't say

*brings mountain down*

You would say:

"He thundered words of power... Forces unimaginable gathered above the Fellowship... And rock was loosened. Rock was broken. And it began to crumble. He boomed more words of power... And it fell."
Ssussunriyh

12-29-03, 07:58 PM
Yes, but where did this demon army suddenly appear from? Was it Cerrinity's idea for them to show up, or did you do it on your own?
aravilar_holistacia

12-29-03, 08:00 PM
And what's more is that there are many worse things that can be roleplayed! Why not just say

*kills entire army*

instead of casting a stupid ENCHANTMENT?

Spectators? The reason why the army is not dead is so that we can HAVE a good BATTLE with WEAPONS.

I remember talking to Cerrinity about low magic campaigns and worlds before starting here. The fact is, I am trying to stay within that low magic setting!

How about some spellfire? Hmmm? Or silverfire? That's high magic. Why not the Elven High Magic I would be happy to provide?

I am staying within reason.

You are free to aid me with your swords and your shields and your bows. I will not budge unless I am killed in battle.

Good day.

I ALWAYS get Cerrin's approval before posting ANYTHING regarding her character or any of her other characters.

Instant messages are much easier to chat with, and that is what we keep in contact with. We have been using IMs for over a month and a half.

Only a child leaves a thread because of someone elses posts? It must be nice to have so much free time on your hands that you can spend hours sitting in front of the computer typing out posts on this message board in response to posts made by those you really don't want to associate with, all the while being made feel like you are the "comic relief" or "irritating sidekick". Some of us have real world concerns, like jobs and families.

As far as spells go, if there is any possible way that the spell description could be construed as MUNCHKINISM, then you MIGHT want to NAME the spell AFTER you describe the visual effect. It WOULD be a NICE COURTESY to people you are playing with. Especially when you have an SN that is already associated with munchkinism by the people you are RPing with.

To Cerrenity, Dragon master, Ssussunriyh, and anyone else who still considers themselves a part of this thread, I would like to say that I'm sorry about leaving so abruptly. I just CANNOT be a part of this thread, so long as certain other persons are also a part of it. It has been a wonderfully fun few weeks, but as much as I am loathe to do so, I must say goodbye to you all and to the thread. I hope that you don't think any less of me for not wanting to post here, but I don't feel that any contributions that I might may to the storyline would be worthwhile, so long as certain other persons are still posting in the thread as well. I'd like to thank you all for making the experience up to this point into such a pleasant one, and wish you all luck and continued enjoyment of the thread. Thanks for all the fun!!

Oh... and I will no longer be monitoring the either the OOC or the IC thread on a regular basis. Any further discussion that is to be made about this issue, if it pertains to me, I would ask that you do it through PM. Thanks.
Cerrinity

12-30-03, 12:00 PM
Aravilar, you have been voted against and I have received many complaints against your character coming back to the thread. I ask that you post one final time in the thread to remove your character.

If I lose Kami as a character, my thread will have to end as he is a major part of this as is Delana and Dragon.

So, please Aravilar, remove your character...
Ssussunriyh

12-30-03, 12:12 PM
I am very sorry that it had to come to this. But, as the old saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression...

Aravilar, have you considered playing a different sort of character? One of more humble trappings, who is not an epic-level magic-user?
Kami no Kenshin

12-30-03, 01:41 PM

The point is that Munchkinism, in any form, is still Munchkinism. I don't know where the particular spell is listed, or what it does. I don't know what the particulars are. But I am reasonable certain that if it were a targeted spell that allowed you to select mutiple targets, 5000 targets would make you AN EXTREMELY HIGH LEVEL CASTER. I also know that an army, marching in ranks allows a certain amount of space between toops, typically the troops take up approximately a 5ft square. Which means.....
5 000 targets= 25 000 square feet. That's a HUGE area.

Well, just an update for you guys... I am feeling much better now thanks to the wonderful iron pills! :ayyyy!:

I do still ocassionally run out of breath but other than that, I'm doing great!

On the downside, I've got to take iron pills til I'm 40! :uh-huh:

40? Bummer... how many times a day do you have to take them, if you don't mind my asking?

lol.. everytime I hear that word I think of the Professor on Futurama, "Good news! Its a supository!" lol...

Anyway, I start college up Monday! I'm so excited!!

My classes are as follows

1. Fundamentals of Music
2. Developmental Reading III
3. Beginning Fencing
4. Introduction to Philosophy
5. Piano Class 1
6. Introduction to Sociology (though they called earlier yesterday to say that there weren't enough people signed up so now I have to pick another class which will probably be Child Development)

(Wanna know the cost? For those classes, out-of-district fee, lab fee, and other fees it was $1,069. For the books to the classes it was around $175, except no book for Fencing  )
Kami no Kenshin

01-10-04, 02:48 AM

Yep.... no book for fencing. Just make sure you don't put out the trainers eye.....

They tend to take a dim view of that kinda thing;)

Ooooh, fencing is cool! My mum used to do fencing about ten years ago and went to see it at the olympics here in Aus in 2000.

I don't know if they do fencing here in Australia at our colleges (we call them Universities... don't know what the differences is except the name)

Kenjitsu..... Iaijitsu..... Kendo...... Batto-Jitsu...... Kyudo....... Kobudo...... Karate..... Jiujitsu...... Aikido...... I've even done a bit of Boxing and Muay Thai. My work supervisor keeps saying "Remind me to never run into YOU in a dark alley...." whatever the hell THAT means.

No fencing though..... but I've been thinking about it.

I don't believe in belt rankings. Do you know what color belt a true master wears? White. The color of ones belt is meaningless. The actual history of the belt ranking system goes something like this: The only real belt colour is white. The way you "Earn" the Black Belt is through all the work you put in. The belt gets stained black by all the sweat and blood that gets on it. The purpose for the existing belt ranking system is to create a comparison method for tournaments, so that competitors don't get paired with others who are far above thier skill level. That and, it helps to draw in new students and keep them there. The idea being that a "Yellow Belt" can wave this stupid little piece of colored fabric around at his fellow students who only have white belts and say "See? I'm better than YOU!!"

I wear whatever color belt I happen to be holding in my hand when I put on my Gi.

I'll tell you the truth. I once knocked out a 7th Dan Karate practitioner with ONE PUNCH. I've fought people that others call Sensei and knocked them around like ragdolls. And I've had my butt SERIOUSLY taxed by guys wearing white belts.

To answer your question, my extensive experience with the sword comes through training with friends who are not "Sanctioned" to issue belt rankings. Officially, I hold a black in Jiujitsu (4th Dan), a brown in Karate and a brown in Aikido.

I've sparred with guys who CAN issue belt rankings in Kendo and beaten them, same with Iaijitsu guys.

The guy who taught me most of my Iaijitsu is a small, unassuming little Japanese man. He scares me with his skills..... and I can only say THAT of about 4 people I've met.

EDIT: I'm thinking of taking Capoeira next..... if I can find a good teacher.

lol Dragon.. really...

Wow... as a person who has never done any form of martial art in his entire life- and knows nothing about it, i have to say that that definately has opened my mind up a little- (and unfortunatel have seen some people do the "I am a red belt so i'm better then you")

I do appologise- please forgive my ignorance

Hmm.. I never really knew the importance of the belts and all as I *coughs* am a girl.. hehe

Anyway, what you said Kami has opened my eyes to the world of the belt and the ways in which people flaunt their titles.. its sad really....
Kami no Kenshin

01-10-04, 03:33 AM
It isn't even about flaunting rank.....

If you have achieved some sort of status in any area, you've earned a certain right to feel some sense of pride and accomplishment.

What pisses me of is certain people.....

I remember I went to this one school to learn a new style. I got picked on by this "red" belt guy who probably shouldn't have even been there to begin with. Now, don't get me wrong. This guy had talent. But I'm 24..... I've been doing this since I was 6. I have more skill in my pinky finger than this guy has in his whole body. But he was the Sensei's "Star Pupil".

So anyway.... this guy is picking on me.... singl-ing me out for his taunts.... he was doing stuff like throwing training weapons at the back of my legs while I was sparring with another student, and generally being a prick. So one day, after class I challenged him to a sparring session. Full contact, with pads. To make a long story short..... by the time I was finished with the guy, he wasn't even sure where he was. Or WHO he was. We timed the fight. It took all of..... 45 seconds (or something like that.... I don't remember exactly) for him to tap out (Tap the mat twice to surrender when grappling). The Sensei told ME not to come back. Which was all well and good I suppose. Most of the other students stayed behind after class to witness the bout. It was pretty funny, all around.

Again- i know next to nothing about martial arts, but I'd have to say it shouldn't be about gender either. The only real connection that i have to a martial art style is Tak-won-do (sp). My best friend is a black belt. His sister started before him, and i'm pretty sure she's a black belt as well. I've seen them spar against each other when i've gone on tournaments with them (as a spectator, nothing else). From what little i saw, my mates sister was more then capable of beating up anyone else who didn't have a weapon. Probably would stand a very good chance against someone with a weapon as well.
Cerrinity

01-10-04, 03:50 AM
Oh! One of Jiujitsu's specialities is disarms. I remember one night I was sleeping at my ex's place (before we broke up, FYI) and this guy broke in. I don't know what he had in mind, but he had a knife in his hand when I spotted him.... I don't think he could hold much of anything in that hand for a very LONG time by the time I got done.

How unlucky it was for him that I came to her place from a trainining session, and I had some of my weapons with me. When I heard a window break, I grabbed my Tonfas. Kept them hidden behind my back until it was too late.... for him.

Kami no Kenshin

01-10-04, 04:48 AM
You SHOULD get a handgun license. Know why? No. Not so you can buy guns silly,:P

You should get a gun license because the training you'll need to go through will help you overcome your fear of guns. Hell.... even if you just get a gun club membership and head down to the local target range a few times to learn how to shoot from a club instructor....

The next time you are around a gun, it won't scare you.

I use a gun in my work. A large portion of what I do involves teaching self defense, including the use of firearms.

If the subject is firearms, I'm the resident authority. 1991 graduate of the Pennsylvania Gunsmith School, and six years working experience as a gunsmith. (I'm not a bad shot, either.)

And FYI, I also am afraid of guns. For the same reason I am afraid of power tools and other machinery - they can mess you up really bad, if you're not careful. But that doesn't stop me from using them.
Dragon Master

01-10-04, 06:05 AM
hmm, think i'm going to stay away from the subject of firearms... i don't mind them in a movie, or game... not in real life though. Ive been to a gun club, and was extremly overwhelmed by the power and destructiveness (i hope thats a word...) of them that i began to lose what very little interest i had in them. Australia has strict gun laws, and very few house holds have them- as such there is little need for them here.

01-10-04, 10:04 AM

The PA Gunsmith School is a trade school in Pittsburgh, devoted entirely to gunsmithing and nothing else. There are only three gunsmithing schools in the entire country, of which PGS is the oldest. The Colorado School of Trades is another, and I forget where the third is.

Gunfire is actually not all that dangerous, unless the bullet you get hit by strikes something vital. If it hits a chunk of flesh.... you can WALK to the hospital....

The most dangerous part about firearms is that many of the people who carry them haven't got a CLUE about how to use them. It is normal to have a healthy dose of fear in response to having a gun pulled on you. What isn't normal is to be terrified of a gun sitting on a shelf.

A gun is just a tool, much like a sword.... a knife or a chisel. It may be a tool meant for killing things, but that is besides the point.

Shooting isn't for everyone, that's true. But I think that learning a bit about guns can be haelthy for everyone, in North America anyway.

Part of the reason I teach people to use them is that.... someone who has knowledge about how to use a gun is not as afraid of guns as someone who doesn't. And the fear that they feel toward guns is based on an UNDERSTANDING of how they work and what they can do. It isn't "Oh my GOD!! He's got a GUN!! I think I just wet myself...."
Ssussunriyh

01-10-04, 12:14 PM
Let us forget killing for a moment. Consider the gun as a piece of mechanical engineering. Think of what a machine gun does: you press the trigger, the gun fires, opens the breech, extracts the empty cartridge case and ejects it, withdraws a fresh cartridge from the feed system, locates the cartridge correctly in the feed ramp, rams it into the chamber, closes the breech, locks it, and fires again. All within a fraction of a second, hundreds of times every minute. And all without requiring any external power source. If someone could build a car half as reliable as the average machine gun, it would be hailed as the eighth wonder of the world.

Not if it hits you in the leg...

Anyway, it would probably be best if we try and steer this thread away from guns, as i'm sure talking about how effective they are in real life can't be good.

Okay, here's the deal, my hubby (husband) had put locks on the door to the bedroom, inside and out. I wasn't allowed to leave the bedroom unless I had to go to the bathroom and even then I had to ASK to go. If I was hungry he'd make me stay in the room and he'd go get it. I was a prisioner in my own room! I would have been glad to get out through the window, except there were bars on it. And he wore the key around his neck to prevent me from leaving... not to mention he'd lock me in there while he toook a shower!! For crying out loud!

Anyway I end up calling the sherriff (however its spelled  ) to come get me out. I told him not to tell whoever answered the door that I had called. Stupid cop told them that I called about a disturbance! I was so UPSET! Anyway, my hubby and his parents started jumping on me, then the cop was like "Did you call me?" I didn't want to say yes so I tried to give him a facial expression to let him know that I wasn't able to speak freely. So when he tried to pull me away to talk alone, Ryan and his dad tried to listen in. The cops get in their faces! Ryan's dad stood right next to the cop and I and the cop stepped up into his face and TOLD him to move away and let me talk. He eventually and there was more arguing and all then they told me to get a change of clothes and leave right away. After I got clothes and was heading outside, Ryan started to chase me out and the cops knocked him to the ground, hit him on the head and cuffed him. Ryan was getting crazy and wasn't going to let me leave. My sister was driving by and see the 4 sherriff cars, which made a total of 6 guys out there. Anyway, brandi took me to my grandma's house and I was in tears!

And so now I won't be on as much as normal because I won't have as much free time anymore. In a week I'll be moving to North Carolina.

Kami, I know that if i happened to of just stumbled across this thread just now, having not read any of it before or having met Cerrinity (or any of her other characters) before, I'd still be upset. Since this thread has started up, i've spent countless hours sitting down at my computer posting with you guys. Now that I think about it, i've probably spent more time with the people on this thread then what I do at school :smirk: . We may have never met face to face- but we deffinately have all met.

Aravilar: I know you didn't get much of a welcome in this thread, and I'm still going to remain neutral on that subject. For now however, thankyou for helping Cerrinity. I think I speak for everyone in this thread when I say that we do care for Cerrinity, and we appreciate any help that you are giving her. I believe heavily in not going into other peoples business- invited or not- but I know everyone in this thread cares abut Cerrinity's safety and well being.

She's quite alright now, but the real saving grace will be in a few weeks when she moves to NC, closer to her dad.

I hope you don't mind my saying that, Ashy...

The good thing is that everything is fine now, for the most part. She has gotten some of her stuff back (including that all-important keyboard ;)) and she sounded much better over the phone this morning.

@Dragon: Ashley's had nothing but good things to say about you. I know that I've not been the most welcomed person here in this thread, but that isn't the point. The point is that we are all afraid for someone, and we all care deeply for someone, and that is what we should focus on. It's no problem for the helping; I tried my hardest to keep her in good spirits (which she did admirably) and when the time came for her to do what was right, she did so. I have never been more proud of anyone in my entire life.

@Kenshin: Yes, I still hate you. Yes, the next time I find you in a thread (other than this one) I'm going to kill your character again, and again, and again. But putting that past me fro right now is what I'll have to do. All of us care for Ash's safety, and we will continue to do so. Luckily for us, we can have a common side in this. Good day.

Well, that's enough for now. I'll get back to you after I talk to her again.

Later,

Hey guys I thought I would give you an update on my situation...

I had to drop my best friend because she told Ryan that I was leaving and WHEN I was leaving. Not to mention I told her in complete SECRECY! She tried to deny it but I was like, you and my family are the only ones I talk to anymore and I KNOW my family wouldn't speak to him.

So now I've got the feeling of the world weighing down on me again and things have become complicated. He's been calling me and has even got his mom to call twice already!

I'm currently sick! :( I felt bad this morning and just didn't do much. I hope it is gone by the time I leave Tuesday! Oh yeah, we bought the tickets early for $69 compared to last minute payment which is $150. Not bad eh?
Kirion Violatta

congrates on the ticket price, and I also not up to the weather either mine is terminal insomniea *shrug*

It is quiet odd that your friend would tell him, but don't let it bother you to much, you are moving after all right ?

But still good to see the DM posting every now and then. I am learning from all DMs that I encounter so when I start I know the good things to do to progress a story and this thread is good on the progressing part(or at lest on the massive posting part :D)

I had to drop my best friend because she told Ryan that I was leaving and WHEN I was leaving

My sister's friend did that when she broke up with her abusive ex...

She moved in with me for a while, because she felt like crap and I didn't want her to be alone....

Her friend (a guy) told her Ex where to find her, and the brightboy shows up at my apartment with a knife....

Heh.....

Suffice it to say that before I was finished, he PRAYED for me to kill him.... THEN I called the police. The cops who responded got a kick out of the whole thing.....

And then I went looking for the loser who put him on her trail.....

Heh.....

I wont go into details, but siffice it to say that he and I had a pleasant conversation. Pleasant for ME.....

I know that you probably won't want to hear this from someone you've never actually met, BUT, can I offer a little advice?

Remember that gun license we were talking about? Get it. Buy a gun. Even if it sits in a drawer somewhere and gathers dust, take it to the target range once a month and keep it clean and ready to use (NOT loaded). Also, if possible, invest in some sort of personal weapon such as a taser AND LEARN HOW TO USE IT. Find out what's legal in your area, and get it. Keep it out of sight (in a purse for example) until you're going to use it.

Invest in some good self defense courses. Most areas will have some place that'll offer a good self defense course, whether it be on a college campus or a private school. A lot of martial arts schools also offer training that is specifically geared toward people in your situation. Many places even offer specialized training exclusively for women that is designed for YOU.

Wherever you go, invest a bit of time in learning the lay of the land. Figure out where your local law enforcement station is located. Figure out which neighbors are usually around, and what times. Find out where the payphones in your area are, and where the most visible and safest places to seek refuge are.

Learn all of the escape routes from your home (doors, windows....) and how best to use them. Figure out which houshold items are best used as improvised weapons, and how to use them as such (sometimes the most obvious ones aren't the best).

Try to build a support network of people around you who will watch out for you. You know, friends who will call and check up on you if they haven't heard from you in a couple days. Make sure to keep them "in the loop" as to where you are so that they don't jump the gun of you go away for the weekend.

Vary your routine. Change the times that you leave and come home as often as possible. This will prevent anyone who MAY be following you from establishing a pattern in your activities, and thus GREATLY reduces the chance of success for anything they might be planning, and also GREATLY increases the chances that they will be caught either in the act, or before it.

Force yourself to be AWARE of what is going on around you, EVEN WHEN YOU ARE TIRED!!!!. Do you see that guy standing in the shadows? He could be just a guy standing in the shadows. Or not. Better to hope for the best and plan for the worst then to find yourself in a dark alley with someone who is trying to kill you.... or worse. If you see some stranger lurking around, keep an eye on him and stay as far away as possible.

PLAN AHEAD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!!! If you know you need to unlock the car door, get the keys out of your pocket and find the right one BEFORE you leave the building you are in. Check the inside of the car for people. I once had a guy put a gun to my head from the back seat of my car. He had been hiding on the floor....

If possible, call ahead to wherever you are going and tell them when you are leaving and whe you expect to arrive. If you are going to visit your friend "Cathy", call her up just before you leave and say "I'm on the way. Ther in 20 mins." and keep them IN THE LOOP as much as possible. If you're going to be late, call them and let them know.

Try to travel with a group as much as possible. Strength in numbers. If you can' travel in a group, be EXTRA careful. If the building you are in has security, they probably won't mind walking you to transit or the car. Ask. The worst that'll happen is they'll say no.

Carry a small flashlight, and keep the batteries fresh. There is NOTHING like the relief that comes with having a light source EXACTLY when you need it. Carry a cell-phone, and keep it charged and ready for use. There is NOTHING like the relief that comes when you have the power to summon hel EXACTLY when you need it.

Whew. That's about everything I can think of right now. More later, if I can think of it.

In this lesson class, I'd like to talk a little about non-lethal weapons:

PEPPER SPRAY: This stuff is usually legal, and is a pretty good all around weapon. Most places will require you to get licensed for it, which is a good thing as it also requires you to get trained. Be careful with this stuff however, as it is easy to screw up and injure YOURSELF with it. Also, remember that it's not totally reliable. Some people are highly resistant or immune, but the relative percentage that are is pretty small. I don't have specific stats. Even those who are immune will be momentarily distracted by blocked vision due to this stuff being in thier eyes.

MACE: This stuff is HIGHLY illegal, since it's sole purpose is to cause injury, possibly permanent blindnss. Wanna go to prison? Use this stuff on someone.

ANIMAL REPELLANT: This stuff is similar to pepper spray, but much weaker. If you need to use this on a human, it's best used as a distraction. Spray the eyes, kick the groin type of thing.

TASER: These little guys really kick butt. Wanna put that 250lb brute trying to tear off your clothing down for the count? Use one of these. ZAP! Thud. Some training required, may not be legal in your area.

CLUB: These come in a variety of styles, from a baseball bat to a specifically designed and purpose built collapsible steel rod. Many weapons of this type will be legal for carry, but check restrictions in your area. This type of weapon requires some training, but it's easy to learn and quite effective if used properly.

Those are the main devices that I teach people to use.....
