This is a continuation of the game started in the Crossroads Tavern under the thread... Dark Corner …the gathering (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=159080&perpage=30&pagenumber=1) [ooc: PM me for other information you might need, but please join in, we can always use some local color. I would just ask that you make your posts well thought out and more than just a couple of words…be descriptive and have fun! If you have to make any OOC comments please write them in silver. Also this will be free form, but please keep it within reason and the abilities of your character...the wizard Astaroth always has the final say.] :smirk: _______________ ...now for a brief recap And so it began... Somewhere between the large oak beams supporting the ceiling and the squeaky floor boards sat a stranger. Somewhere within the smoke and shadows, off in a dark corner, a mysterious cloaked figure sat. He chews on the stem of his pipe as he waits patiently for his guests to arrive. The wizard Astaroth, between puffs from his pipe, slowly sips Elven wine from a goblet. He keeps a wary eye on those within the establishment, but most importantly he watches the door. And so they gathered… now the journey begins. ...brief enough for you. ;) Gaw's Laws of Roleplaying (http://www.geocities.com/eric_dorval/pages/gawslaws.html) ...good tips on playing |
| The Grey Sentinel01-14-04, 08:49 PM | It is early morning in the town of Saradush, the sun has yet to rise above the "Ryder’s Roost Inn” as the old wizard makes his way down stairs from his room. He spots the over night barkeep lying across the counter fast asleep, Astaroth quietly slips past him to find a seat near the front entrance. He retrieves his pipe and slowly packs the bowl as he watches the tavern come to life. Astaroth puffs on his pipe as his thoughts shift to the days work ahead. Tis a long hard road that lay ahead …yes in deed. |
| coldstone01-14-04, 11:01 PM | Coldstone strides through the front door;places like this never have rooms suitable for an ogre so he slept under the eves. He was only awakend by a mighty hunger. As he walks up to the bar he rubbs his face with his scally hand trying to remember the night before but it was all a fog. He still not seeing clearly as he looks around the room and finaly focuses on the wizard. He lifts his arm in a half hearted wave as he moves across the room and mumbles, "mornin". |
| JT Klasky01-15-04, 04:25 AM | Not far from the wizard sat Jeriseán slumped in a chair, empty mugs and silver pieces lay scattered about the table, his winnings from a long night of dart playing. He moved slowly with a groan as he began to awaken. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist01-15-04, 07:37 AM | Nazrukh awakens in the hay loft of the stable located just a short distance from the inn. He stands and stretches then proceeds to pull out hay stuck in his chain mail. He buckles on the baldric and with a great leap jumps down to the ground, instantly startling a few horses. “Now, now there …tis just be me.” Naz strokes the mane of a large draft horse. “And good morning to you my friend.” He steps out into the street just as the sky begins to lighten. |
| Theda the Thief01-15-04, 11:35 AM | Theda Bara is roused from slumber as the smell of breakfast rises through the rickety floor boards. She slides out of bed and walks over to a washbasin set on a small counter, a few refreshing splashes of water and she’s good to go. The Rogue then quickly slips into her leather armor and dons her weapons. She peers out the window as she ties back her hair. Looks to be a promising day. …she muses as she turns to go. |
| Agudo Archmage01-15-04, 01:27 PM | http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongagudo.gif Artwork copyright © 2003, Gordon R. Quigley The Archmage of Light came in through the back door. Slowly stepping over a few female drunken dwarves that lay on the ground. Making sure to lift his blue and white robes, so that they do not run against the vomit stained floor. The smell of stale ale and putrid smoke, was thick in the air, of this tavern of sin “I must say Lady Hoot, we will never find a more reached hive of scum and villainy; than right here.” The lovely white snow owl nodded her head, as she calmly rested on his shoulder. As he entered the main fest hall, he took note of the local establishments décor. A dying fire slowly kindled on his left, in a soot covered brick laid fireplace. The smell of eggs and ham, was the only redeeming quality of this seedy tavern The mage adjusted his eyes to the dim light, as he looked through the tobacco haze. Several humanoids were up on this sunrise day, or at least stayed up all night drinking. To his disgust he eyes fell upon an ogre, “What did I tell you Lady Hoot!” the Archmage said as he frowned at the sight of the beast. But another caught his attention as well….. a wizard. Like all magic users, they can since each other’s magical aura; even before laying eyes on their fellow practitioner of the arts. Some magic users of efficient talent, can discern the power level of the other wizards around them as well. This usually set the pecking order of respect, each would give to their peer. Fortunately the Archmage of Light, had out grown such ego inflating social climbing. He walked over with a smile on his face, as he lowered his hood, reviling deep tan skin on his face that held a short beard; and long blond ponytail. “Greeting and well met, fellow practitioner of the magical arts, I am Agudo of the Light” He had intentionally left out Archmage, for he wanted a friendly conversation, not a competing of egos. “ Lady Hoot and I would be most honored to sit in your refreshing intellectual company”. The snow owl turned her head and smiled, in the way only enchanted owls can do. “Your wisdom would be insightful in a tavern that seems to be a void of culture.” As he waited for Astaroth, reply. |
| The Grey Sentinel01-15-04, 05:37 PM | Astaroth was deep in thought when he heard the greeting, a smile barely shown as he looked up at the mage then at once he recognized his name. The old wizard’s face lost its vexed look as his smile broadened… “Master Agudo, your reputation proceeds you, please sit and join me for breakfast for your company is most welcome.” He motioned toward an empty seat, for none of the others had joined him as of yet. “I am Astaroth … Sentinel of Ironspur, pleasured to make your acquaintance.” [ooc: Nicely done Agudo.] :) |
| kalrisa01-15-04, 05:49 PM | Kal slips through the door behind the one in the pretty robes. She had slept somewhere outside, although it was indecernible the exact whereabouts; the only tell-tale sign of such is the pressence of hair slightly wetted. The rest of her skin is slightly moist, a fresh sheen of sweat from her morning training, her ever present spear in her hand. Presently she sniffs at the air as she tastes the smells from the kitchen. Through the haze she slipped into a seat, whiping down the head of her spear with a rag as she watched, listened, waited. |
| JT Klasky01-15-04, 06:26 PM | Jeriseán perked up in his chair as he caught sight of kalrisa, as he stood he reeled back from the throbbing in his head. Arrrg …dang cheap ale. He staggers across the room, as he passes, he eyes up the pair of wizards. M’m …now there’s two of them? The fighter continues on as he tries to straighten up before reaching the spear maiden. “Good morning …m’lady, care if I join you and we shall break our fast together?” |
| Agudo Archmage01-15-04, 07:40 PM | http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongagudo.gif Artwork copyright © 2003, Gordon R. Quigley "Thank you kind Mage Astaroth, did you say you Sentinel of Ironspur?” The Archmage of Light sat himself, as granted by his fellow magic user; and took a few more puffs from his corncob pipe. “I have yet to visit Ironspur, would you be so kind as to tell me about it” Lady Hoot was pleased at the warm reception and asked a question as well. “What does a Sentinel do for Ironspur? If I may ask as well” She flapped her white wings gently on Agudo’s shoulder. |
| The Grey Sentinel01-15-04, 08:05 PM | Astaroth looks away but a moment to see the hung over sergeant crossing the room, he shakes his head as he looks back to the owl. He gazed at the creature for it had been some time since he had kept a familiar himself. “Ah yes a Sentinel, well in simple terms I am the watcher, or overseer …because of my age and appearance I’ve become known as the Grey Sentinel of Ironspur, but it is just a title and titles count for very little my feathered friend.” |
| coldstone01-15-04, 08:21 PM | Coldstone turns his head looking at the bird on the wizards shoulder and says," How's it a dumb beast learns to speak so". As he shoves a hole side of uncooked bacon in his mouth. |
| The Grey Sentinel01-15-04, 08:54 PM | The old wizard was distracted by the half-ogre as he walked up displaying his table manners once more. "Good morning master Coldstone, please have a seat ...this here is Agudo." |
| Nazrukh Darkfist01-15-04, 09:08 PM | Suddenly the door swings open and in steps the Barbarian. “Good morrow all!” he shouts eyeing up the inhabitants at this early hour. He cocks his head to the side as he spots the pile of passed out female dwarves, at least he thought they where females. “What in the hay has been gonna on here all night?” |
| Agudo Archmage01-15-04, 10:32 PM | http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongagudo.gif Artwork copyright © 2003, Gordon R. Quigley Agudo was about to order some breakfast from a lovely mixed race Halfling and from the looks Gnome? In any case before he could wave her over, a smelly brute of an Ogre made himself known. Saying something about the wise white owl Lady Hoot. She turned her head all the way around like most owls can, and eyed the barbarian. Lady Hoot then turned back to speak with Astaroth “Ahh Astaroth… I see you take pity on the educationally challenged, like this… Hairy knuckled simian Ogre “ Agudo smiled at her quick wise wit, but quickly changed the subject. “Back to my question my dear colleague Astaroth, what of this place Ironspur? For you have given your life in protracting it, why? He looked at the staggering gentlemen who seem to be intoxicated. And wondered of the type of people Astaroth keeps around himself. But kept his thoughts to himself and continued speaking. “As you have kindly said my reputation precedes me, and I am assuming it has something to do with my many books; perhaps my first one…… (History of the Realms by Agudo) “Also” (Agudo’s Travel guide to the Realms) And lets not forget my latest … ( Agudo’s Book of Magic 101) All this and more, can be found at my school, humbly named.... Agudo School of Light and Magic. In any case I do a lot of traveling, and would be most interested in whatever you can tell me of Ironspur.” The Archmage of Light waved his hand over the table; and a reddish, leather bound book appeared, as well as a magical white feather pin. For some reason this made Lady Hoot wince at the sight. “Now lets see...Where is it located?... What of its people? That will be a good place to start” Agudo smiled and waited |
| kalrisa01-16-04, 04:54 PM | As Jeriseán spoke she turned to watch him with a slightly raised brow. "I have already eaten this morning, but I do not mind if you wish to sit with me. I must warn you though, my company is oft found lacking." Her eyes then travelled elsewhere, watching as the Barbarian enters then settling a moment on the now two weilders and Ogre. Finally she gets around to moving up the table a little, to make way for Jeriseán and propping her spear on the other end of the table saying, "Heavy night? I've a herb that will help keep the headaches away although the taste is almost offensive enough to knock you off your feet." |
| JT Klasky01-16-04, 05:59 PM | Jeriseán happily takes a seat at Kalrisa’s table…“It appears m’lady, if I may be so bold, that company is the only thing you lack and that’s where I fit in.” The fighter settles down as he grimaces from the pain in his head all the while still trying to present a friendly smile to the spear maiden. As she offers up a home remedy, JT’s ears perk up. “Ah, I’ll try about anything at the moment, my skulls about to crack.” He lays his head down on the table… “Ah …how’s it with nightmare's, ah … cause every time I close me eyes all I see's are scantily clad dwarf women?” |
| The Grey Sentinel01-16-04, 10:30 PM | Astaroth’s eyes narrowed… “M’m, I see you have an inquiring mind master Agudo, but as for Ironspur Keep, I’ll only tell you this.” The wizard leaned in on the table. “It is… or was an unpretentious tower constructed from dark obsidian blocks. From a distance, it has the look of iron as it rises up from the plains of Nahoru Obsah. Since its early days it had become a symbol of the people to persevere when all seems lost, but…” Astaroth slumps back in his chair, his crackled face frowning with despair. “But now all is lost for the great tower has fallen into desperate hands, hands full of iniquity my friend Agudo.” |
| Theda the Thief01-17-04, 07:36 AM | The thief slowly descends the staircase; her hand gently glides down the top of the railing. She quickly catches a glimpse of the fighter…There he is, the swine! she quips to herself. Theda stops at Kalrisa’s table and says good morning as she stares angrily at JT. “Just so you know mister Kläskosa, I don’t contend with dwarves to get a man’s attention, hope you had an enjoyable evening.” With that she headed off to speak with the wizard. |
| Agudo Archmage01-17-04, 10:17 AM | http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongagudo.gif Artwork copyright © 2003, Gordon R. Quigley The Archmage was intently writing down every word of Astaroth’s. He even leaned in closer as well, as if receiving the answers to life. Agudo was just writing the last words when he reread part of them out loud. “Now lets see ….symbol….hope…. Nahoru Obsah….all …lost…LOST?” He frowns as he rereads the words once again. “I am sorry I was so busily writing, I just registered your meaning. Tell me my burden friend, what prey tell has become of your place of hope? Lady Hoot was listening intently as well, and asked a question herself. “Forgive me for interrupting but, what Realm is Ironspur in? Western Faerun..or another grand place? |
| kalrisa01-17-04, 04:52 PM | The spear maiden reaches into a pouch at her waist, drawing out a small package that is stuffed with dried greenish leaves. She hands it to the fighter with a half smirk. "Enjoy. You make it as you would tea." As the lady theif walked past she raised a brow then nodded a good morning. "I have nothing to deal with those nightmares, other than sound advice to learn from the mistakes you make in dreams as you would in life." She watches the retreating back of the thief with some interest before looking back at Jeriseán. "There is one thing I must ask however, the lady thief seems irked with you, whatever could be the reason for that?" |
| JT Klasky01-18-04, 08:01 AM | JT mutters out a Thank you, as he takes the strange potpourri from Kalrisa then flags down a barmaid… “Be a dear and bring me a mug of hot water miss, thanks.” He looks back across the room at the thief then turns abruptly… “Oh miss! …one more thing, I’ll have some bread and cheese, perhaps some food will help as well.” The fighter is definitely not his normal swaggering self this fine morning. He sits there with a puzzled face for a moment… “Ah, oh the lady thief? …the last I can remember she joined me at the dart board, yes and she beat me twice I do recall and then came …Ah ha! Yes I remember now, the Dwarf’s came in with a firkin of home brew Dwarven ale!” |
| kalrisa01-18-04, 04:24 PM | Kal snickers softly at JT, "I somehow believe she remembers a little more of the situation than you do. Perhaps I shall ask her sometime." She seems to watch the whole room as she sits, her eyes turning to carefully examine the slightest hint of movement. Her eyes eventually return to their table, lingering on her spear a moment as she checks it's in perfect working order and within quick reach. "You know, you should be careful with your drinking, I dont imagine that we are going to be wandering through this whole escapade. It would not be..." She searches for the correct word, "convenient to have to leave you behind." Perhaps the sentence was a little nasty but, it could just be her lack of practise in such a language, which though, is hardly discernable. She turns to watch Jeriseán, smiling gently as she does. "Why'd you answer the call? It's not often that I come across a man so bereft of his senses to come along to something he has no reason for." |
| JT Klasky01-19-04, 05:56 AM | A young barmaid returns with a kettle of hot water and a mug. She places them down on the table in front of Jeriseán, as well as a small wooden tray of bread and cheese. JT smiles gently at the lass as he drops a few coins into her open hand… “Thanks miss, that’ll be all for now.” The fighter pours a cup full of steaming water and begins to dunk to package of herbs. Looking over at Kalrisa… “I sure hope this works …so you were asking me about the old wizard?” JT glances over in his direction… “Well that’s a bit complicated to answer my dear.” |
| Nazrukh Darkfist01-19-04, 09:57 PM | Looking about the Barbarian spots most of the team from the night before, upon seeing the wizard he heads on over to the table. “Good morn masta Astaroth…” Naz just gives the half-ogre a glaring nod, his high hopes for improved table manners has yet to show in his good friend. “Looking to Agudo… “Well met sir, a mage I suppose, which begs the question …what need do we have fer two wizards on our journey?” |
| kalrisa01-20-04, 05:22 PM | Kal half smirks at JT, a look that seems to suit her more than smiles ever will. "It will work, I assure you of that. It has got many a man to his feet after a long night." Not much of a conversationalist, she seems satisfied with his answer about the wizard and their relationship. That or she didn't want to push anything. She watches the Barbarian a moment, staring at him with a straight face. She ponders to herself, looking deep in through before she peels her eyes away and over the remaining peoples in the tavern. "I wonder when we will leave...?" The question is more asked of herself than anyone else in particular. |
| The Grey Sentinel01-20-04, 09:28 PM | Astaroth looks up as the Barbarian arrives at the table. “No no, this is just a fellow colleague of mine discussing other matters.” The wizard looks to Agudo… “This is Nazrukh, a fine warrior who has come to assist me in my quest.” Turning back to the Barbarian… “This is Agudo, a fellow wizard as you have gathered, please have a seat my friend and join us.” |
| Theda the Thief01-20-04, 09:43 PM | As the thief approaches the table a massive oaf steps in front of her, the barbarian of course. Theda stopped abruptly propping her hands on her hips. “Great manners there chief!” she retorted as she moved around him to take a seat. |
| The Grey Sentinel01-20-04, 10:01 PM | The slender thief was hidden from the wizards view until he heard her comment and seen her swing around the table. “Good morning m’lady Bara, please forgive our rather large friend here, please be seated.” The Wizard shifted as he called a barmaid to order up some provisions for the table. Astaroth directs his attention once more to the mage. “As I was about say to Agudo here, we are headed south to the coast, for the great citadel of Shadow Horn lies across the Trackless Sea on the Isle of Kelanna. |
| Agudo Archmage01-20-04, 10:55 PM | http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongagudo.gif Artwork copyright © 2003, Gordon R. Quigley ((OOC Agudo is a Historian, and really wants to know :D )) The Archmage of Light puts down his feathered pin, on his history book, and nods his head; as he smiles at Bara, Nazrukh, “I am pleased to meet you both, and may the Light guide you in your adventures.” Then his new wizard friend Astaroth, mention once more about the trip to Shadow Horn and the island of Kelanna. “Kelanna?” He takes out several maps, mumbles something about organization, and looks at some of his books as well. “I have been to so many places... its hard to keep track, if I know this place or not…. That brings me back to my wise friend question? And a new one as well?…What Realm "World" and sea is “Kelanna? |
| Halfling Doppelgänger01-21-04, 05:45 PM | Having run out early to purchase supplies from the local general store, Priló Toewalker rushes back to the inn. The door swings wildly open as the Halfling appears in the entrance …or was there two? “I hope I’m not too late!” He shouts as he scampers into the inn looking for the wizard as his ghostly shadow follows fading in and out of view. |
| coldstone01-21-04, 10:14 PM | The ogre turns and looks at the halfling with his mouth overflowing with food,"I told you two last night that you wasn't coming unless yous was throne in my bag as a snack". He looks at Naz who has taken a seet across from him with a huge grin on his face ,"I's love jesting the little folk". Smart as paint he be! |
| kalrisa01-22-04, 05:34 PM | The spear maiden looks at the gathering of the little group near the wizards table. "I suppose, since we are going too we should go listen to whatever they are saying over there dont' you think?" She turns to JT as she says the last part. After which she turns, gathers up her spear and rises, not really waiting for his answer before heading over to lean on the wall nearest Astaroth's table, nodding to those about it. |
| The Grey Sentinel01-22-04, 08:54 PM | “Well Master Agudo Kelanna is a large island, those that live there would dare say it’s a continent. It is a land full of rich natural resources and people, aside from those that claim allegiance to malevolence, people that love freedom and tranquility. It lies southwest of Calimshan across the Trackless Sea, a three day sail past Lantan …if the wind is favorable. We intend to leave this inn and the town of Saradush within the hour and travel to Calimport, there I have associates already working on chartering a vessel for the journey.” He looks around the table… “Those that you see around me all have ties one way or another to Kelanna and there are more yet to join as we have just but struck the spark of liberty …with the inferno soon to follow.” Astaroth looks up as the spear maiden draws near, he acknowledges her arrival. “Good morning Lady Kalrisa …do you suppose the sergeant is well enough to join us?” The wizard glances in his direction. Turning back to address Agudo once more… “Excuse me but a moment now friend for I have business to discuss with these gathered round.” He then looks down to the Halfling as he dashes up to the table… “So mister Toewalker, did you secure all necessary provisions for our venture? …Oh! …and how about that wagon?” |
| Theda the Thief01-23-04, 05:56 PM | Theda’s face lit up… “A wagon! …what need do we have for a wagon master Astaroth? I thought we would be traveling cross country, a wagon will be a slow go if at all!” She looked around the table at the others hoping for some support. “The road will be too treacherous to travel …remember the mage’s warning from the other day, they are already watching our every move!” |
| JT Klasky01-23-04, 07:42 PM | Jeriseán guzzles down the elixir. I guess its time to get this thing goin’ he moans while grabbing the bread and cheese. He slowly rises, his head oddly feeling better already, lifting his body out of the chair JT heads over to the group. |
| Pintel01-24-04, 12:34 PM | His mission not yet completed the archmage Pintel waited and watched not far from the inn. Upon Astaroth’s move he was to make a report to her magnificence, the sinister conjuror Eveleth Maillet, who now kept residence in the Shadow Horn citadel. |
| Halfling Doppelgänger01-25-04, 12:13 PM | The halfling flashed a stern look at the thief. “No no miss, I could not locate a wagon so I don’t have one, just three pack mules and trail rations.” Priló then turned to the wizard. “We are all set master Astaroth, can I eat now?” The small fellow scampered up onto a chair. |
| kalrisa01-26-04, 06:07 AM | Kal smiles softly, perhaps smugly as JT manages to find his way over. She listens to those about her in silence, letting Jeriseán's actions answer the wizard's question of her. She seems to agree with the lady thief, nodding slightly at her qualms with the wagon issue. Speed is a valuable ally afterall... she muses to herself as she leans the spear gently against the wall beside herself. Softly she speaks to Astaroth, "The sergeant should be well soon enough I would think..." |
| JT Klasky01-27-04, 09:31 PM | Jeriseán grabs a chair from a neighboring table and drags it over taking a position next to Astaroth. He nods to the others around the table adding a little gesture of thanks toward Kalrisa… “Good morning all, are we set to go then?” |
| Theda the Thief01-28-04, 07:24 AM | Theda calms down a bit, “Forgive me master Astaroth, I didn’t mean to lash out.” She smiles at the Halfling and then looks up as the fighter finally drags himself over. “Glad to see you could join us …now we can plan our route.” |
| The Grey Sentinel01-28-04, 01:59 PM | The wizard waves off Lady Bara’s apology. “No harm done, let’s proceed shall we.” The wizard slides a plate of food over to the Halfling. “Well done Master Toewalker, now please enjoy your breakfast.” He then reaches into the folds of his robe and produces a small leather tube. Upon opening said tube he slides out two rolled up documents, the smaller of the two he lays out flat on the table, it clearly shows to be a map of Tethyr & Calimshan. “Alright then friends, we must choose wisely our course, for all have perils of their own.” He strategically places a few empty mugs to hold the corners down, and then looks up at those around the table. “What say you then?” [ooc: Here is a map of the area, you all would be familiar with the territory. Feel free to role play your ideas for the journey. Once again we are in Saradush and are to travel to Calimport.] http://a1.cpimg.com/image/A1/B2/29162401-c899-0177010F-.jpg |
| Agudo Archmage01-28-04, 02:51 PM | http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongagudo.gif Artwork copyright © 2003, Gordon R. Quigley The Archmage of Light sat quietly, as he wrote down a few notes of what is going on around him. From the personalities, names and races of each person here; even the minor banter going back and forth. He then eyes the map laid before the brave adventurers, and reaches for his own maps in one of his many magic bags. Nodding his head at the comparison of Astaroth maps, of the Calmishan and Tethyr area, and his own. Agudo then puts his maps away and compliments the group. “I can see your all very wise in preparing for your journey, so many just wish on a lucky star…. and take off to Light knows where” The wizard chuckles then turns to Astaroth with a question. “Tell me my new friend did I hear right, when Theda said that your being followed?” |
| kalrisa01-28-04, 03:34 PM | The map on the table is studied with interest as Kal looks over it. She keeps her lips tightly shut, a thin line in her thoughtfulness. As she looks the map over she brushes a hand through her hair. But she makes no suggestions even after her study, even though her eyes never wander from it. |
| coldstone01-28-04, 08:49 PM | So wizard when do we leave, my belly is full and I long for adventure, and my hammer is restless in my hand. I myself have was born on Kelanna in the mountains of the Northlandz and I miss walking in the forest of Landeladar. The ogre motions to the door as if they could leave at once. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist01-28-04, 09:47 PM | Nazrukh rises from his chair and leans over the plans. As the Half-Ogre announces his readiness to head out the Barbarian speaks up. “Now hold on a moment there Stoney, we’s need a plan of sorts.” As he runs a finger over the map… “I say we stay off the main thoroughfare all together, yes …we get out of town fast and head straight for the Mir forest.” He looks up as his finger stops. “If anyone does follow us we can lose them there or dispatch them to the gods of their choosing.” |
| Theda the Thief01-29-04, 10:01 PM | As the barbarian began spewing his thoughts about a plan Theda leaned toward Agudo, speaking lowly… “Yes we are being watched, there is a mage by the name of Pintel lurking about …have you ever heard of him?” |
| JT Klasky01-29-04, 10:34 PM | Jeriseán feeling much better jumps into the conversation. “Well that plan seems fine enough for me why babble any further then we have too, I’m with the ogre here, let’s get a move on!” The fighter then catches the end of the thief’s comment to Agudo, “That is one peculiar wizard I tell you and what makes him so dangerous is his instability. I speak from experience, had a run in with him back in Kelanna before I left.” JT looked around the table as now it seemed all eyes were on him, he quieted down a bit before he continued. “I’ve heard it said that he is a Shoon, a successor to the old empire that once spanned these lands.” |
| kalrisa01-29-04, 11:39 PM | Listening to all the comments, Kal ponders in relative silence. She does though, consider both the positive and negatives of the barbarian's suggestion aloud, if only to herself... "It will be faster by roads though. I suppose it will end up being which ally you like better, speed or evasion. It would be nice to have both but, sometimes circumstance wont provide the best conditions." It's as if the spear maiden will accept what ever decision is made. And indeed she will as she settles back against the wall, now watching over all seated at the table as well as the map. |

Quigley ((OOC I made that up about Pintel…but I am hoping that he will see its general enough…. and complimentary to the other post made by him and the others …Also it does not interfere with his characters freedom of destiny…and its just good story telling fun.. :D )) The lovely Theda leans closer, and kindly informed the Archmage of Light about their stalker-wizard. She had asked him if he had heard the name, of the sneaky wizard Pintel. Agudo smiled warmly at Theda, as he picked up his corncob pipe that was resting on the table. The mage closed his eyes, leaning back in his chair for a moment. Thinking about this Pintel and took a couple of long puffs; filling the room with the smell of smoky apple cinnamon. Just then Jeriseán a dashing yet easily tempted by the tavern festivities; seem to come out of his alcohol haze, and shared what he new of Pintel. A rather short, but disturbing tale about Pintel, came from Jerisean lips . Taking out his pipe then opening his eyes, Agudo considerd everyone’s words and his own carefully. “Some say and rightly so, that two wizards can size each other up…just by looking at each other.” He set his emerald eyes around the table, as he shared his thoughts taking careful note of each person. “Call it magic aura or magical insight, on how we mystics can see who is more powerful. The fact is... on one of my many adventures in learning the History of the Realms. I did come across this infamous Pintel and his abilities.” The Archmage of Light leans forward, to get closer to the others who are listening in. “I wont bore you with to many details” He says as he waves his hand, to clear some of the sweet smelling smoke coming from his pipe. “But I happen to be at a wizards conference, in the land of Thay; on Quantum Physics and the latest healing medicines, when I first saw Pintel. He was giving a speech about benefits of permanent Enhancement Potions. I could see that Pintel was a talented wizard, of more than one school of magic. I admit that some mages have trouble controlling their Egos, yet in truth most wizards make excellent Diplomats.” Agudo chuckled as he continued. “My Ego included, never the less a wizard skills in the arts of conversation; can insult you, and compliment you, all at the same time. Pintel was very good at just that, berating from the podium, with those who did not share his views on mind-altering chemicals from his personal lab. A jolly plump Gnome was sitting next me in the auditorium, she whispered in my ear that the wizard Pintel was famous for selling his magical services to the highest bidder. So that he could feed his "addiction" of those same Enhancing Potions.” Agudo leaned back and shrugs “Now I can not tell you the statement by Butterscotch…that was the Gnome name by the way! If she was telling truth or just gossip…But” He put his hands together in a prayer shape close to his lips, then smiles. “But from what I personally saw of Pintel, he had this odd habit of ...not quit talking to himself…more…. More like tying to listen to many voices in his head, and choosing the ones he liked.” Taking his corncob pipe and chewing on the tip Agudo added. “To be honest I do not know your history with Pintel, and he may have some personal vendetta against your group. But its possible like Butterscotch said…… that Pintel is being paid for his services to follow you…why?…that answer may lay in Shadow Horn” He puts down his pipe and then reaches for his goblet Elvin Sweet Water. After a small sip and wiping his short blond beard with a cloth napkin; he looks up at Theda and Jeriseán. “I hope I have been of some service to you my new friends” |
| The Grey Sentinel01-30-04, 09:55 PM | The Wizard moved his finger to his mouth at Jeriseán’s mention of Shoon. “Shhhh, we shouldn’t speculate sergeant.” He then listened to Agudo as he shared what he knew of their shadow. When he had finished, Astaroth thanked the mage for insightfulness. “The morning grows short my friends and so we must be off.” As the others finish up conversations the Grey Sentinel waves over a barmaid to pay the remainder of their tab. He looks to Agudo… “Keep your eyes and ears open my friend, for I fear dark times are approaching and Kelanna is just the first stop.” [ooc: You can have the weekend to role play conversations, then starting Monday we hit the trail! Also I added a link to my sig for the Kelanna map just for your information, check it out for added background for your characters. The game is still open for others to join, as not all that were summoned have arrived, perhaps we will meet then on the trail. Also be ready for some NPC’s to start showing up.] :) |
| Theda the Thief01-31-04, 10:22 AM | Theda conceded to Astaroth’s concerns but wanted to bend the ear of Agudo a bit more. She stared at the archmage with a blank look. “So you have heard of this Pintel? …small world aye.” She made sure to keep her voice low for who knew what other spy’s lurked about. “Tell me good sir, do you know anything of the Shoon …of which the sergeant here speaks?” |
| Halfling Doppelgänger02-01-04, 09:40 AM | The halfling gulps down his breakfast, "M'mm good stuff!" He stands on his chair so he can get a good look at the map, as pieces of food fall from his chin he mutters. "Ah, the Mir Forest, dangerous travel them parts be." |
| coldstone02-01-04, 09:41 PM | The ogre feeling a genuine warmth towards the halfling and a little disbelief as to his statement of being in the Mir Forest says,”Thems awful dangerous parts for someone so small. How far have you traveled in those lands?" |
| Agudo Archmage02-02-04, 02:47 AM | Artwork copyright © 2003, Gordon R. Quigley http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongladyhoot.gif http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongagudo.gif The Light mage noded his head the warnings of Astaroth Lady Hoot who had remained passively quiet, through most of the conversations . Wisely spoke up at the comment by the Rogue Theda, dealing with Pentil. She smiled like most enchanted owls can. “In some ways your right Theda, that being it is a small world. When you consider the fact that wizards are more famous, than numerous. Sadly that has more to do with apprentices of the Magical Arts, dieing young at the careless hands of their masters. Such as the Red Wizards of Thay, for example, treatment of their students.” The lovely white owl pauses then continues. “So if you take in consideration that we were at a Wizards Gathering. To here about the Magical Arts and the latest theories. You can logically see that while we dint talk with Pentil, it is not surprising that we know of him.” The Archmage of Light chuckles then adds. “Thank you my wise friend,” He then winks at Theda and Jeriseán. “The good thing about wise owls they can put things in perspective, the only down sied is…. They can tell you your right Theda … and still make it seem like a mathematical eqation” Agudo laughs some more, as Lady Hoot flaps her wings, not seeing the humor. “ In any case back to your question on the old empires and Shoon. To be honest its funny you said old empire of these lands Jeriseán. Because for a Historian such as myself, that word is a matter of what can be called old?.” He rubs his hands together, as he gets into his role as history teacher. “You see for example, we are near the old Empire of the Djinn founder Calim. These Djinn race also known as Genies, created this magical Realm, more than four thousand years ago. Then a short time latter in historical years, brought Memnon an Efreet. Founder of its own Empire, just north of the Calim boarder. As normal with magical Egos war broke out, it lasted four hundred years. Only with the intervention of High Magical Elvis, did this war end. They created a Crystal that trapped the warring Memnon and Calim. The country we are in today is Calimesa from that Empire.” He stands a stretches a bit and then twists and turns his body slightly. “Now where were we? Ahh yes old Empires, Jeriseán you could be talking about the infamous Neteheril Empire of Humans. The Magic! The Power! …Sadly the corruption of evil. Ironically the magic and Ego… once again of a wizard brought them down. As many Bards have sung in taverns such as this, of the famous wizard Karsus. He thought only his mighty talents could save his people, and their spectacular floating magical cities. Well let’s just say….. he created a spell to make his Ego godlike…. and destroyed the very thing he loved….His people….and Mystra at that! For she sacrificed herself to save magic. The cities mostly crashed to the ground but a few did escape. Agudo sits once again then considerd a new thought. “ You could be talking about the very old snakelike Empire, that was here before even the elf’s. Some of them remain in the tropical climates like Samarach. “ He was about to continue when Lady Hoot spoke up. “What of the word Shoon?” She then turns to all at the table. “That’s the nice thing about wizards, they love to talk about the question! But almost never get to the answer.” Agudo laughed. “Yes well, now …lets see… Shoon? most likely its attached to a title of evil… if Pintel is evolved. Yet to what empire is hard to say. Maybe Astaroth has an idea? For as learned as I am, I like to think I am never to old to learn something new!” |
| kalrisa02-03-04, 03:25 PM | Kal pushes herself off the wall and looks at those about the table, saying quietly to them all: "Perhaps we could hear of this on the journey. Surely we cannot sit around here and discuss whilst Pintel is out there setting traps and the like..." She eyes the mage with a somewhat raised brow, her eyes the only thing showing that she's finding his 'lessons' useful. |
| The Grey Sentinel02-03-04, 04:18 PM | As he’s about to add to Agudo’s comments, Astaroth pauses and turns toward the spear maiden. “Yes! …you are so right Lady Kalrisa; we should be on our way, this history lesson will have to wait for a more opportune time I’m afraid.” With that he stands and gathers his belongings. “We should split up as we head out of town, a large troupe would gather much attention, we’ll meet outside the city border at the Old Farmer’s Well just south of town.” [ooc: Post your last comments as you leave, then I’ll set up the scene as we enter the Mir Forest.] |
| JT Klasky02-03-04, 04:34 PM | JT springs to his feet… “Bout time!” He nods a farewell to the mage Agudo, “Thanks for the extra information I’m sure it will come in handy before this quest is over.” With that he re-positions his weapons and gear as he looked around the group. “Well I’ll gladly escort the ladies if no one objects.” |
| kalrisa02-03-04, 07:36 PM | In a fluid motion Kalrisa gathers her spear and turns to step towards the door. She leaves silently, not a goodbye springing from her lips, instead she nods, particularly to Agudo as she passes him by. The door clicks as it closes behind her and her footsteps fade. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist02-03-04, 09:58 PM | Nazrukh rolls up the map and hands it back to the wizard. “So this is it then…” He turned to the half-ogre. “We’s Stoney gonna take the mules, see you’s at the well ...and may the gods of Fangzrukh help us all!” With that the Barbarian gulped down the last of his drink and headed out to the stable to fetch the mules. As per the halfling's directions Naz quickly found the mules safe and sound. He checked their harnesses as he waited for the ogre to catch up. Just then he heard a creaking sound from the loft, as he looked up he saw three figures diving down onto him. ...kobold pic (http://a5.cpimg.com/image/C5/37/29420485-4f4b-00D80108-.jpg) |

Quigley As the others made thier way out the door, the Archmage of Light stood and wished them all a safe journey. “May your travels always be in the Light my friends!” Lady Hoot smiled like all enchanted owls can and added. “Let wisdom guide your hearts as well as your heads.” He then turns to Hoot and comments. “You know Lady Hoot, maybe I should right a book about them. I could call it Agudo’s book of brave Adventurers….What do you think?” Lady Hoot shakes her head and chuckles as they booth sit back down |
| The Grey Sentinel02-04-04, 07:09 PM | [ooc: Well it was bound to happen sooner or later, I’ll NPC the Kobolds for you…let’s rumble!] :smirk: The three assassins dive from the loft as they see their prey, one lands on a mule quickly slashing its neck as both mule and Kobold tumble to the ground. The second one lands on his feet just to the barbarian’s left as the third settles right on top of Nazrukh, all the while hacking wildly with a long bladed dagger. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist02-05-04, 10:26 PM | No time to draw his sword Naz swiftly reaches for his stag handled dagger as he dives, locking blades just a moment. He tucks and rolls into a stall rolling up unto his feet, the Barbarian can feel a flow of blood streaming down his arm as the Kobold sliced his shoulder. “Ah …ya wanna play aye?” Nazrukh quickly throws the dagger with one hand as he draws his sword with the other. |
| JT Klasky02-06-04, 05:49 AM | Jeriseán takes off hastily after the spear maiden. “Kal! …hold up a minute!” |
| Theda the Thief02-06-04, 08:36 PM | Theda just rolls her eyes at the suggestion that JT would look after her and the other woman and with that being said the thief watched as Kalrisa ran out. I guess she doesn’t need no looking after either. she muttered as the fighter ran out after her. She looked to those still left… “Guess I’ll tag along with those two, until the well then …farewell!” |
| Pintel02-07-04, 06:41 AM | The Archmage watches from a secure position as the troupe exits the inn. Ah …now the fun begins and what surprises I do have awaiting you. Pintel continues rambling to himself as he slips down an alleyway heading out of town. |
| kalrisa02-07-04, 05:26 PM | Finding a suitable dark doorway, the spear maiden slips into the shadows to wait. Taking care to make sure her presence isn't obvious, she pauses to watch the street. Her eyes take in every detail, the few people out, the karts heading for the market. Here she takes the time to ponder the best way to leave this place undetected. For a long time she waits, testing, perhaps, the level of patience of any who might chose to follow her. |
| coldstone02-07-04, 09:42 PM | As the ogre approached the door he noticed a strange scent on the air, then he heard the unmistakable clash of steel. Suddenly he felt flush and his walk turned into a gallop. He didn’t even slow as he crashed through the stable door. Instantly he was set upon, he could feel the cold steel slice his skin he quickly reeled around to grab at the attacker. He swung wide with his hammer as the blood trickled into his eyes. He flailed about with his hand, swung his hammer wildly suddenly he heard words from the past as he let out an ear splitting roar that shook the barn to its floorboards. He felt himself going back to the clearing where Naz had taught him how to fight with a blindfold on, he could hear Naz saying ,”you got to use your instincts, you got something Stoney you got to learn how to use it “. His hand suddenly closed on something, he became aware that he could tell that there were two attackers. He clinched his fist tight, he new now that there was only one. Now his mind turned to his friend once again he shouts out NAZ! |
| The Grey Sentinel02-08-04, 08:01 AM | The Barbarian’s dagger throw hit home piecing the Kobol’s eye socket and dropping him in a heap to the ground. The next attacker armed with two scimitars was momentarily distracted as the Ogre burst through the door. The mule murdering Kobold swiftly tosses his dagger which glances off Coldstone’s head and subsequently sticks into a ceiling beam. But that was as far as the assassin’s luck would go as he took a crushing blow from Throng and fell limp to the ground. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist02-09-04, 06:13 PM | At the moment of the Kobold’s lack of concentration Nazrukh lunges with one mighty thrust hoping to put a sudden end to this attack. |
| JT Klasky02-09-04, 10:00 PM | As Jeriseán exits the inn he is surprised to find that Kalrisa has disappeared. “Dang she’s fast!” He continues to look up and down the street for a moment until his keen hearing picks up the sound of steel striking steel. He quickly draws his sword and heads around back of the inn toward the stable. |
| kalrisa02-10-04, 06:07 AM | With curious eyes Kal follows Jeriseán's movements from the tavern. At first she finds it half amusing, knowing full well that he expected to find her. As the situation developed her brows formed a puzzled line, as he drew his sword and headed back to the tavern. What is going on I wonder...? And, being the cautious person she is, grasps her spear in a prepared manner and follows after JT. |
| Theda the Thief02-11-04, 06:18 AM | As Theda exits she just catches a glimpse of the sergeant running around the corner with his weapon drawn. Now what is he up to already? …the thief pondered as she decided to investigate. As she approached the small alleyway that lead to the stable Kalrisa popped out of nowhere, Theda quickly turned to her… “What’s up?!” |
| The Grey Sentinel02-11-04, 08:10 PM | The barbarian’s sword easily pierces the kobold’s rotten leather armor. As he tosses the creature’s limp body aside with his sword he looks up at his half-ogre friend …the thought now sinking in that this will not be an easy journey. |
| kalrisa02-12-04, 05:19 AM | "Not sure. I suppose the sergeant came out looking for me and didn't find me." A satisfied smile appears on her face. "But then he took out that sword o' his and ran off t'wards the stables. I'm off to see what's going on. Suppose that's what you're doing too then." Kal waits for the lady thief before heading down to the stables. |
| coldstone02-13-04, 09:10 PM | The ogre looks towards his friend and can see that he is ok.” Not much of fighters are they. “ He bends down and picks up one by the leg and holds it up looking at it sidelong and just shrugs. He grabs the other two and starts dragging them out the barn door thinking that he would discard the bodies around back of the barn, turning back towards Naz he says “ How do you think they taste they looks all skin and bones”. |
| JT Klasky02-14-04, 07:08 AM | As JT made he’s way, he turned back as he heard the ladies behind him. He quickly waved them on as the stable was still out of sight around the rear of the inn. The fighter did think it odd though to find such a quiet alleyway on such a bright morning as this, something definitely was amiss here. |
| The Grey Sentinel02-14-04, 07:37 PM | While the two inside the stable complete their melee with the Kobolds the others gather nearby. As the fighter signals to the women he is suddenly engulfed in a barrage of arrows from the roof top. As the others run into a slight delay, Astaroth and the Halfling Priló, make their way out of town unscathed. |
| kalrisa02-15-04, 05:41 AM | Kal grunts, more an angry growl than anything as she sees the arrows rain down. In the instant of their movement she's against the wall of the building, after the nearest door which could lead to the rooftops. She calls to Theda, "Hey, head round the back if you can manage, perhaps we can catch 'em!" Finding the door locked, she kicks it in, scampering inside and up the nearest set of stairs, not really minding who's inside and why. A few moments later Kalrisa's head popped round the door on the roof. After a quiet curse she steps on silent feet onto the roof, slinking around to stay behind the cover that presents itself. Kal holds her spear in a ready hand as she listens for the sounds associated with the drawing of bows, hoping to pinpoint their position. |
| JT Klasky02-15-04, 06:20 AM | Just as he turns Jeriseán can hear the flutter of fletching cutting through the morning air. As if instincts took over his whole body recoiled and then dove for the shadows. Time seems to stand still as the sergeant leaps, his eyes focused on his landing behind a stack of wooden crates. It is then that he can feel the sharp pain of an arrow piecing his thigh as he tumbles to a halt. Darn! Just like Rock Ridge all over again. “I ain’t no pin cushion you dang murdererin’ skum!” JT couldn’t help resist yelling out to his would be assailants. |
| Theda the Thief02-15-04, 07:15 PM | As Kalrisa moved toward a door, Theda dodged to the opposite side of the alley, nodding an acknowledgement to the spear maiden’s suggestion. The thief continued to make her way along the wall as arrows ricocheted off the hard packed pathway surface. She finally makes it to the corner of the building from where she can see JT taking cover behind a stack of boxes. Theda motions to him to stay put as she heads off around back. Now out of the line of fire she looks for some form of entry only to find a locked door. |
| coldstone02-15-04, 07:42 PM | As the ogre steps through the door he can hear the wine of arrows as he drops the Kobolds to the floor. He jumps back through the door turns to Naz and says, “it ain’t over till its over.” He quickly takes a peek outside and just as quick pulls his head back as three arrows stick into what is left of the barn doors.” Well at least there not good shots, it looks like JT is down, what’s the plan.” |
| Ruler of all Dragonheart02-16-04, 02:19 AM | From one of the nearby walls there is a small cage with a cover thrown over it. From beaneath the cover (and inside the cage) there is quite a ruccus. The cage begins to shake and move left and right. There is the rattle of chains and a piteous moan. The cover falls off the cage revealing a pixie about 2 ft tall wearing bright clothing. His hands are bound. He begins fluttering around the cage looking for a way out. "Help me, help me!" , he cries. "please kind adventurer help me...". He lets out another moan and then begins to weep. |
| Theda the Thief02-16-04, 06:17 AM | Theda tries a few good kicks at the door but has no success. As the sound of flying arrows has slowed a bit she is suddenly startled by a moving object just past the doorway. When the cover falls off revealing the pixie, the thief just stares in unbelief for a moment, and then reacts as the sound of arrows fills the air once more. “Oh! Ah …yes let me see.” Theda moves to free the winged fairy working quickly so she can rejoin the fight… “I am Theda what’s your name?” |
| Nazrukh Darkfist02-16-04, 09:45 PM | As the Barbarian cleans the blood off his blade on a bale of hay he watches the half-ogre play with the dead Kobolds. “Nah ya can’t eat ‘em Stoney, just toss ‘em out back we need to get movin’.” Naz checks around the stalls once more than sheathes his sword as Coldstone yells out. “It ain’t over till its over!” He hustles over to the door just as the arrows strike, quickly ducking back inside he looks to the ogre. “It seems that they really don’t wanna see us git to Kelanna, do they?” |
| Ruler of all Dragonheart02-16-04, 09:56 PM | The pixie speaks in a small, pixie-like voice, "Thank you lady Theda. My name be RoaD." The pixie bows as the door is unhinged. He then flies out and streches his wings. An arrow wizzes by the pixie and he dissapears but the buzzing of his wings is still heard. Theda feels a small depression on her shoulder and the pixie appears. "Thank you for saving me. I do hate small spaces." The pixie flies off and comes back wearing a dagger that seems to big on his belt. He is wielding a small bow with a solid white arrow notched in it. "I will fight by your side lady Theda." The pixie fires a couple arrows at the enemy. |
| coldstone02-16-04, 10:45 PM | So what do you think? Can we make it back to the alley or no? Cause ifin the answer is no I think that I’ve got an idea. What if we had us some shields? He says this as he looks down at the Kobold slumped in a heap on the floor. Then he picks up the dead fellow by the hauberk smiles and says thank you for not fussing so much about being my shield. One step out the door and the ogre takes a shot in the thigh, he growls but keeps moving towards the warrior behind the crate. The air is filled with the wine of arrows as he moves forward, the shield he holds has indeed become a regular pin cushion. |
| kalrisa02-17-04, 12:36 AM | A moment longer Kal waits, listening to the clicks and twangs associated with loading a bow. She closes her eyes, taking a deep breath before drawing out a kife and slipping around the post she's concealed behind. Its as if her eyes and hand are in perfect unison, for the time which her eyes spot the first bowman the knife has already left her hand. Quiet feet patter into a quick run, the butt of her spear aimed for the next attackers head. An itch occurs to Kal, a wizzing noice from behind her as she dives out of the way. Left in her place is a solid white arrow. "Stupid swines..." she mutters, "Who the hell is shooting me?" She grunts angrily as she rolls to her feet, spear held readily, all hope of an easy surprise attack gone. |
| Ruler of all Dragonheart02-17-04, 12:51 PM | The arrow disenegrates. The pixie dissapears again the buzzing of his wings fading away in the distance. One enemy is fallen with a slit throat. The buzzing of arrows and wings can be heard. The pixie reapears with a small cut on his cheek. He nochs another arrow and launches it towards the enemy once again. |
| The Grey Sentinel02-17-04, 09:05 PM | The troupe of Kobold archers fire mercilessly upon the adventurers but their aim leaves something to be desired as they only manage to hit JT in the leg. As they continue to look below and fire sporadically at whatever seems to stir, Kalrisa makes her move resulting in a spectacular dagger throw striking one archer in the base of the neck. With a loud moan he falls forward over the parapet and drops to the ground below. Meanwhile the Pixie helps her rescuer by launching an attack of his own almost hitting the spear maiden as she dives for cover. As the other Kobolds quickly move to defend themselves another falls limp from the Pixie’s handy work. The two remaining archers drop their bows at the sight of Kalrisa, drawing short sword they move to engage. ~~~TGS |
| kalrisa02-18-04, 12:41 AM | Now this aint very fair is it thought Kal as she watched her two opponents. "Not very fair at all," she muttered as she shifted her balance from foot to foot. Oh what the heck... she mused to herself, bringing to her face an uncannily satisified smile, much like those that enjoy sparring with death would wear. Not that this was like Kal, but, first impressions last. She moved slightly to one side, Never take more than you can handle..., she could hear her instructor's voice now. In doing so she coaxed one kobold to be in front of the other. Her feet danced, taking her just out of reach of the first attackers strike. Kindly she returned it; a deceptive swing at its legs with the butt of her spear, changing mid swing to strike at the kobold's neck with the spearhead. An attack from the second kobold catches her in her left arm, despite her best efforts to get out of the way. Feeling the blood trickle she turns with a growl, "So you want to dance..." |
| Nazrukh Darkfist02-18-04, 05:51 AM | The Barbarian watches as the half-ogre uses a “kobold cadaver” for a shield. Naz can hear some sort of fighting coming from the roof then shouts as one of their assailants’ falls. “Watch out Stoney! …it’s raining scum!” As he warns the ogre he himself dodges for the rear wall of the inn, with his back flat against the wall he looks up. M’m …where the go? …he muttered. |
| JT Klasky02-18-04, 08:47 PM | JT stays hunkered down as arrows fly aimlessly about, as the attack subsides a bit he looks up to see the ogre running toward him. |
| coldstone02-20-04, 07:18 PM | “So how’s it going? I see that you‘ve had your fill of arrows today,” the ogre says as he runs up to JT. He tosses the kobold aside and flops down next to him. “I bet that arrow would sting more ifin it weren’t for that last round of ale last night, but remember it was you’re idea. Who new the fun would start so soon? I always leave it to Naz to find the real good fights.” As the ogre finished talking he turned around to see where his other friend was just then three more arrows stuck right between he and JT. He jumps back with a jerk looking up to see if he could tell where they came from. |
| Ruler of all Dragonheart02-20-04, 10:45 PM | RoaD the pixie flies up to the roof for a better veiw. He sees one kobold and quickly fires and arrow into its neck. He hears talking and looks to see where the voices are coming from. |
| The Grey Sentinel02-20-04, 10:52 PM | The remaining Kobold now fearing for his life turns tail and runs jumping from roof to roof across the alleyway. Mid-way across he takes an arrow to the neck as he hits the wall on the other side. The would be attacker leaves a streak of blood down the wall as he fall into a heap below. Meanwhile a few concerned citizens have brought this brawl to the local law enforcements attention. A squad of six well seasoned guards rush to the scene of the disturbance. It’s time to lick your wounds and skedaddle, no need to be answering questions to the authorities the rest of the day. |
| Ruler of all Dragonheart02-21-04, 08:44 PM | The pixie upon seeing the guards quickly turns invisible. A light buzzing noise can be heard. The noise follows down to theda and stops and there is a slight depression on her shoulder. The pixie whispers in Theda's ear, "No need to fear its just me. Um..do you think we could get along before the law gets us? I dont think like me that well. Dont know why. That man dropped his coin purse. I was going to return it to him when that dog tried to get me. Well its not a dog anymore, more like a duck. But i did no harm , I promise." The whispering subsides and Theda should feel a slight depression and a invisible warm body against her neck. |
| kalrisa02-22-04, 03:40 PM | The spear maiden shifts out of view on the roof top. Trust all law enforcement to come when its too late to do anything... Down through the building she disappears, reappearing in the back alley. She doesn't take the time to tend her wound just yet, more occupied by finding the safest, quietest and easiest way out of town. Still, she knows her wound will attrack unwanted attention so she pauses first to bind it with a strip of old cloth, then puts on her travelling cloak. The next moment she's headed for the main gate, hitching a ride on a cart that's heading out of town. |
| Theda the Thief02-24-04, 06:03 AM | Just as quick as the battle commenced, it ended with the Pixie now resting on Theda’s shoulder. With the sound of the approaching town guards, the thief quickly ran to the Ogre and Jeriseán. “We must move …now!” She then quickly heads around the back of the stable. |
| JT Klasky02-24-04, 08:10 PM | As the fight progressed Jeriseán quickly searched for something to wrap his leg with. JT looks to the Ogre as Theda scampers off. “Do me a favor and get this stick outta me and lets get gone!” After the arrow is removed he ties off the wound with a strip of cloth and rises to his feet. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist02-26-04, 06:31 PM | As the fight ceases the Barbarian runs over to the fighter pushing the half-ogre aside. “Here let me at it Stoney!” Naz grabs the shaft and with one quick jerk the arrow is free. “You be one with the luck JT, lookie it’s just a pointy one, no metal tip or barbs.” With that he ties off the wound and helps him to his feet as the sound of the guards echo down the alleyway. “No time to lose let’s go!” |
| The Grey Sentinel02-27-04, 06:06 AM | The party clears the back alley just as the guards converge on the area. They quickly move to the stable as they find the place littered with Kobold bodies. Meanwhile the wizard Astaroth along with the Halfling near the meeting place running into no resistance as they left town. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist03-01-04, 06:29 PM | Naz leads the two as they follow Theda's tracks around the back of the stable, as they round the corner she is nowhere to be seen. "That girl sure runs like the wind, we've lost her." /Naz |
| kalrisa03-02-04, 07:56 PM | Once out of sight of the town Kal slinks off the edge of the cart. After adjusting her cloak she stretches a moment before beginning the job towards the meeting place, careful to watch behind her. I hope the others will be alright... |
| Theda the Thief03-04-04, 09:55 AM | The thief takes off running not stopping to look back until she nears the city gate. It is then that she takes notice that the others are not following her. Now where they go, I can’t be that fast. Theda waits and watches for a moment making sure no town guards have made it this far, when the coast seems clear, she nonchalantly walks out of town not wanting to attract any unwanted attention. Theda ...the Thief |
| Ruler of all Dragonheart03-04-04, 07:07 PM | The pixie feeling bored sitting on Theda's shoulder decides to look around. He sees Theda just walking along. A peasant on the street is suddenly alight with fairy fire. light squeaking laugher can be heard and immeadiatly stops. RoaD the pixie keeps hold of Theda's shoulder as she walks along. |
| Ricohard_Draconis03-08-04, 06:01 AM | a face peers out of the darkness of a shadow at the departing party and a smile breaks over his face revealing rows of sharp teeth. the face long and scaled watches the party as they leave then a clawed hand pulls a dark hood over the face and this mysterious figure walks away into the darkness |
| kalrisa03-08-04, 03:40 PM | After the long run Kal relaxes against a tree some distance from the meeting place. She looks and is as inconspicuous as she can be, lounging in the shadow of the tree watching, waiting. Patiently she removes the gourd from her belt and sips it, pondering as she does so...Perhaps I made better time than I thought... |
| The Grey Sentinel03-08-04, 08:55 PM | Alright, to pull everything back together let's just say everyone arrives at the well. Post some conversation as you arrive then well head for the forest soon enough ...thanks /TGS |
| kalrisa03-09-04, 01:00 AM | Kal turns to the wizard, "I trust your travels were a little easier going? It seems you got here first after all. Did you encounter anything?" Her arm is now properly bound, a poultice underneath keeping it safe from infection. "Jeriseán, if you'd like me to tend that wound I will." |
| Theda the Thief03-09-04, 05:56 AM | Theda waves a greeting to Kalrisa as she plops down on the edge of the well, then turns toward the wizard… “What a day so far, I see you and the Halfling have made it unscathed.” She reaches for her waterskin and takes a long drink as the others arrive. |
| JT Klasky03-10-04, 05:50 PM | JT limps up to the others then drops to the ground resting his back against the well. Looking up toward Theda and Kalrisa… “Thanks ladies for saving my neck back there, and yes I sure could use some tending too, thanks” With that the fighter starts to untie the wrapping he had around the wound. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist03-10-04, 07:00 PM | Nazrukh walks up to Astaroth, a vacant stare is upon his face at first then slowly the corners of his mouth turn upward as a wide grin takes over his mug. “So old wizard what other fun treats lay ahead of us?” |
| kalrisa03-11-04, 12:57 AM | Kal smirks, hiding a snicker behind it. Removing a pack from her back she pulls out a small bottle filled with a clear liquid, almost pure alcohol, but she'd never tell JT that. She looks at Naz, "If he's a whimp you'd better hold him. This stings a bit." With a clean cloth ready she poors a little of the contents over the would, making sure to rub it in with the cloth. Next she produces a satchel of dried ground leaves. She makes a poultice with them on JT's wound, mixing it with some water; after which she binds it with a bandage. "Don't play with it. Don't remove it until tonight and try not to bump it please." |
| The Grey Sentinel03-11-04, 06:49 PM | The wizard looks on as his band of adventurers roll in a bit battered and bruised. “Sorry Darkfist my friend, I had no idea that they would be upon us this quickly …perhaps they will not follow where we are headed next.” Astaroth looks to the fighter as he steps toward him. “How is the leg sergeant Kläskosa? …can you move soon?” |
| Ruler of all Dragonheart03-20-04, 05:56 PM | The pixie upon seeing others becomes visible. "Hello all, the names RoaD." He puts out his hand as if to shake. With his other hand he pulls out a flask and takes a swig of a flowery smelling liquid. |
| kalrisa03-21-04, 11:53 PM | Kal looks over to the pixie and nods, "Kalrisa. Kal for short. Welcome along." She leans her spear on the side of the well with a light smile, turning to the wizard, "If he's not walking I dont plan on carrying him. Anyone else?" |
| Ricohard_Draconis03-22-04, 04:43 AM | *steps out of the shadow of a building as if from nowhere his scales flashing in the sunlight* "I am Ricohard, I shall accompany you, you will need my help." |
| JT Klasky03-23-04, 08:48 PM | Jeriseán looks up at Kalrisa with a bit of a smirk. “No need to worry love, I can walk just fine.” As he climbs to his feet a shimmering scaled figure appears before the troupe. JT’s hand quickly moves for the hilt of his sword as he speaks his introduction. |
| kalrisa03-23-04, 09:13 PM | The spear maiden turns an appraising eye on the new member. After a few seconds she nods and smiles. "Suppose I can welcome you too. Kal." She shakes both RoaD's and Ricohard's hand. |
| Ruler of all Dragonheart03-24-04, 05:26 PM | The pixie looks at Kal and nodds. He flies up and sits on the root of the tree. "So whats next?" he says. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist03-24-04, 07:27 PM | The Barbarian looks on the pixie with distaste as he steps forward to welcome the new arrival. "Nazrukh the Darkfist be my name and this here is Stoney.” Naz points over to the half-ogre as he sits picking his few remaining teeth with a deer antler. He then turns toward the wizard as his eyes cross the fairy once more. “Don’t care much for flyin’ critters so keep yer distance pixie.” [ooc: Sorry the game has kinda stalled at the moment; this was an idea I and a few buddies at work put together. Needless to say a few lost interest already except I and the Sentinel, he should be back on in a week or so and we’ll try to get this going again, thanks for your patience and interest in the game.] |
| Ricohard_Draconis03-25-04, 04:13 AM | *pulls his cloak back over his head and stands watching the group his wings shufle against the cloak as he crouches down to carve a rune into the earth* |
| Theda the Thief03-25-04, 08:47 PM | Theda looks on the newcomer with suspicion as she just gives him a cautious nod for a greeting. Looking to no one in particular she says… “Well I for one am ready to move on for the morning grows short and the longer we tarry we put ourselves in further danger.” |
| kalrisa03-25-04, 11:22 PM | A slight nod of agreement is all Kal has to offer. Her eyes stray around the meeting place, searching for that discussed danger in the shadows and trees. One hand absently lifts to check the bandage on her arm. She turns to Ricohard, "Any reason for that?" Motions to the rune. |
| Ricohard_Draconis03-26-04, 02:47 AM | *looks up at the speaker his eyes glinting from beneath his cloak* " merely a symbol for luck" *lowers his head and mutters "we'll need it" |
| Pintel03-28-04, 11:10 AM | The evil conjuror of “Shadow Horn” pokes his head in. Oh good, we still have a game here, and I shall take vengeance for the deaths of my Kobold assassins! :smirk: |
| Ruler of all Dragonheart03-28-04, 10:40 PM | The pixie flies up and sits on thedas shoulder thanking her for saving him. |
| Ricohard_Draconis03-29-04, 07:38 AM | his eyes glint like fire as he finnishes the rune which glows for the merest of moments. then he stands and breathes over the earth he carved it in burning the rune into the now baked solid earth looks at the others around then pulls his travelling cloak closer around him his wings showing as large lumps through the fabric |
| kalrisa03-29-04, 07:44 PM | Kalrisa takes up her spear, motioning to JT to come away from the group for a moment if he'd like. There she speaks in his ear, barely mouthing the words, let alone saying them aloud. Do you think it possible that someone would try to infiltrate us? I know if I knew a group like us was coming I'd want to know everything about it. What better way? Leaning back on her spear she waits, looking over at the group to no one in particular. |
| JT Klasky04-02-04, 06:08 AM | JT follows Kal jumping at the opportunity to speak with her alone. He stands a bit puzzled when the spear maiden is all business, as he quickly finds this conversation has nothing to do with his prowess as a fighter. Jeriseán puts on a serious face as he looks back over the group and whispers. “You be meaning the winged creature I imagine m’lady, he surely hasn’t fully introduced himself and the wizard has yet to mutter a word concerning him.” |
| kalrisa04-04-04, 10:56 PM | The spear maiden cant help but notice the slight disappointment; it effectively brings a smile to her face. She makes a simple comment on it, "Expected something?" Its as if she didn't say it, the smile dropping, voice toning down to whisper again. Perhaps it is him, or perhaps not. Surely there, to me anyway, is obviousness of it in him...but would our opponents be so...obvious? It puzzles me. The wizard will realise if it is I hope. And I'd hate to seem doubtful of Ricohard if he was indeed a needed member. I should not have spoken of it. Between nimble fingers her spear turns, slowly, grinding a hole in the dirt with the butt. |
| Ricohard_Draconis04-05-04, 07:21 AM | looks over at the two disscusing in the corner then shakes his head slightly then moves his hand slightly a book appearing with in it which he begins to read. |
| Theda the Thief04-09-04, 06:06 AM | Having grown tired of waiting for the others, Theda wanders over to the edge of the woods where the trail enters the Mir Forest. As she pokes around she is quick to notice several tracks leading inside. “Hey guys! …it seems quite a few others have entered the forest before us.” |
| The Grey Sentinel04-09-04, 10:51 PM | Suddenly the old grey wizard awakens from his meditation like trance and at once rises to his feet. “Welcome master Ricohard, I've been waiting for you and a couple others that missed the meeting.” The wizard looks back toward the town. “But it seems you’re the only one for now and time is running short, we must be off.” He is interrupted by the thief Miss Theda as he swiftly turns in her direction. “Let’s hope it is just a band of merchants my dear.” He calls out to her as he grabs his staff and moves for the tree line.” |
| Ricohard_Draconis04-10-04, 10:24 AM | stands and leaps into the air his wings ermerging from under his cloak he flies just below the canopy stoping now and then on a low branch, his claws gripping the branches tightly, as he waits for the rest of the group |
| The Grey Sentinel04-10-04, 07:32 PM | As they enter the forest, the trees are tall and spread out with little underbrush. But as they work their way deeper, the canopy grows thicker as the number of trees increase. The sparse undergrowth is replaced with twisted vines and thick laurel as the trail narrows. |
| Nazrukh Darkfist04-11-04, 12:17 PM | Nazrukh Darkfist, the great Barbarian of the Northlandz, lead the way as they proceeded to delve deeper into the mysterious forest of Mir. “I’ve traveled near and far, but can say never did I see a patch of woods like this.” The large brute pressed on keeping a watchful eye open. |
| Ricohard_Draconis04-11-04, 12:22 PM | hops down from his perch pulls his cloak from his head and shakes his scimitar shaped wings. his scales glitter red and green in the half light and his talons clatter against the small stones in the path |
| Theda the Thief04-11-04, 09:15 PM | Theda follows along behind the barbarian. “I’m more of a city dweller myself, not one for gallivanting off into the wilds.” She keeps close to Naz, her hand never leaving the pommel of her blade. |
| kalrisa04-13-04, 07:33 AM | The spear maiden seems to hide her unease well. The only sign of it is in the hint of white in her knuckles that fasten more tightly about her spear. Ever alert and watchful, her feet slip along the path in silence, eyes panning from one side of the path to the other. Although she seems almost casual, a turmoil in her eyes hints at a distaste for being in zones such as presented along the path. With detatched interest she watches the winged one flying through the trees, her frown hinting that she's mad at herself for being so untrusting. Sometime I shall make it up to him... For now she settles into the unedged gait of the troupe, somewhere close to the back. |
