OOC: This thread is intended for the use of Kaizer_soatze, Lord_Gareth, Septimus_Magistros and myself as a place to run a dragon-slaying quest. As far as I know more people are welcome to join in. :OOC

IC: As you walk into the room there is a Spellweaver wearing blood red robes standing over a book and reading. He is a white, slightly furred creature with six arms, 2 large black eyes and a tiny beaked mouth. He looks up as you walk in and his lower hands twitch but he recognizes you and calms himself.

"Welcome, lets get the preparations out of the way here and then we'll be ready for our departure to Sigil. I beleive you will feel at home their Syra, as is hinted at by your speech patterns."
kaizer_soatze

11-05-06, 11:07 PM
Should we require any use of my army?
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-05-06, 11:16 PM
OOC: Perhaps when we have to slay the dragon. I changed the ideas slightly from what I said in the PM. :OOC

BIC: "Probably, Keep them on call in case we need them."

Right, bardock this is turlus prepare the sayain pride division and track our location come with instant transmission and bring some senzu

11-06-06, 03:35 PM
Syra gets a nostalgic look on her face.

"Ah, good ol' Sigil, the City of Doors. I know some shortcuts there, if you need to go anywhere. Just, uh, a warning. I can't speak for how good you may be, but try not to look anyone in the eye if they're armed. When you're at the nexus of the planes, you can be garunteed that at least one basher or finger-waggler can take you out for good like it was nothin'"
SeptimusMagistos

11-06-06, 04:53 PM
The cloaked figure enters the room and turns to the shadow.

"Everything will be fine as long as you stay out of my way, foul creature."

OOC: No offense
kaizer_soatze

11-06-06, 06:08 PM
ooc whos foul?
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-06-06, 06:35 PM
OOC: I believe Septimus's character has a problem with shadows and is referring to the shadow as a foul creature. :OOC

BIC: Makal looks around at the assembled group, "Is this all of us that are going?"
Lord_Gareth

11-06-06, 06:42 PM
((No one SHOULD know she's her own shadow at the moment. She LOOKS like Syra.))

"Apparantly. You got a portal? I only know from home, not back to. Unless ya'll would like to go to the Negative Energy? I hear the place is a blast."

She glares straight at the cloaked figure.
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-06-06, 06:58 PM
Makal smiles, "Yes I do happen to have a ring acting as a portal key to get us in there. The problem is that its on loan from a friend of mine in Sigil so when we get there I have to give it back to him. We wont be in Sigil for very long though, just long enough to grab a few things and give this key back then find out where we need to go from there."
Lord_Gareth

11-06-06, 07:01 PM
Syra pauses for thought.

"Well, I can always take us back here if the need arises. Problem is, it leaves everyone with no shadow for nigh on two weeks after, and you feel cold the whole time. The WHOLE time. It's like ye dropped yourself, buck naked, into Stygia. But let's worry about that when the time comes, I wanna head home and check in with the folks. Haven't seen them in ages."
SeptimusMagistos

11-06-06, 08:54 PM
"I'll take that offer, Shadow mage. I would be glad to be rid of the Darkness That Follows, even if just for a couple of weeks. As for the cold, I do not think I need to worry about that."

The cloaked figure might or might not be glaring back. It's impossible to tell.
Lord_Gareth

11-06-06, 09:04 PM
Syra shakes her head slowly.

"No one appreciates a good shadow until they lose one. When are we taking our little trip, by the way? I long to return home after skivving off for so long. I swear, when I come home without the milk, my mother is going to kill me."
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-06-06, 09:14 PM
Makal waves one of his lower hands over one of his middle hands and a plain lookin silver ring appears seemeingly materializing from the inside of his finger. He touches the hand with the ring to the wall and a swirling brownish portal appears. "Well to Sigil we go then. Ladies first." He motions one of his hands for Syra to go through the portal.
Lord_Gareth

11-06-06, 09:19 PM
Syra smiles appreciatively and walks into the portal.

((Thank god she grew up in Sigil, she'll never land inside anyone :D ))
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-06-06, 09:40 PM
OOC: Its been awhile since I've ran anything in Sigil so forgive me if I'm a little rusty on the descriptions. :OOC

BIC: Syra steps out of the portal and onto a cobblestone alleyway. You realize the portal you have come out of was placed on the side of a shop. As you look all around you notice that this city is immense, if you choose to look up you see that the city is above you as well as if curved around, something akin to a city on the inside of a hollowed out donut.

Makal waves for the others to walk through the portal then follows after each of them has gone through. As they walk through he says, "Its a good idea not to look up at the streets above you if this is your first time to Sigil, its quite nauseating and those cobblestones hurt when you smack your head on them."
Lord_Gareth

11-06-06, 09:44 PM
Syra breathes in the partially polluted air, which stinks of human misery and greed.

"Ah, its good to be home."

She reaches into the shadow of a building and rips out a chunk. Snapping her fingers, it molds into a shadow version of her.

"Go find Mom and Dad. Get milk first."

The creature goes scampering off.

((Now Syra is seeing through 3 pairs of eyes. This is her LIMIT of seeing through more than one pair))
SeptimusMagistos

11-07-06, 05:04 PM
The cloaked figure passes through the portal and emerges on the other side. It looks around.

"I've seen crazier places, and I've seen less crazy places. How does the light get here?"
kaizer_soatze

11-07-06, 09:05 PM
I have my way there I ned not a portal
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-07-06, 09:45 PM
Makal shrugs, "Suit yourself then." He walks through the portal and it closes behind him. He comes out the other side of the portal with it closing behind him. "Well, hmm I just realized I dont know your name do I, anyway the way the city is lit is seemingly one of the many mysteries of this great metropolis."
SeptimusMagistos

11-08-06, 05:48 PM
"My name is MS24T9. It's not very personal, but it's useful. Where to now?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-08-06, 06:52 PM
Makal gives a slight questioning look but dismisses it, "I suppose that name isnt too strange. Well I was planning to wait for Turlus but I suppose we can be on our way. Let me just leave this for him..."

The spellweaver draws his needle again and pricks his finger, a drop of blood drips to the cobblestones below with a splash. "There we are, now off to my cousin's shop and then we can be off to our next destination." He begins walking through the maze-like streets of Sigil.

The streets are crowded with a vast diversity of people from all over teh multiverse, balors and solars walk right beside each other without a problem in this city. The trio reaches their destination after several twists and turns and what seemed like walking around in a small circle. Their destination is a small shop with a wooden sign hanging on the door, the sign reads 'Hegtev's Shop of Magical Wares'. Makal glances back to see if his companions stayed with him and then enters the shop.
Lord_Gareth

11-08-06, 06:55 PM
Syra did indeed follow Makal, though she does look rather absentminded. Then, suddenly, she snaps to full attention and groans.

"Mom WAS mad about the milk..."
kaizer_soatze

11-08-06, 07:01 PM
What in the qorld are uoy talking about im here?
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-08-06, 07:16 PM
"Well then just in time Turlus. Feel free to go around and explore and buy things as you wish or take care of anything you need to take care of. Meet me back here when the night begins, roughly 2 hours. If you dont want to go anywhere then I'll just be in here with my cousin gathering things and the proper information we'll need."
kaizer_soatze

11-08-06, 07:55 PM
Im gonna go destroy ALL the hobgoblins in the universe...2hours later... im back!
SeptimusMagistos

11-09-06, 10:55 AM
The cloaked figure followed Makal to his cousin's shop.

"Nice place."
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-10-06, 09:40 AM
Another spellweaver, this one slightly heavier built and fatter than Makal, greets the party at the door, "Hello Makal and friends of Makal, welcome to my shop. What brings you here cousin?" He also thanks Septimus on teh compliment, "Thank you, I try to keep it up and I've heard from many 2-arms that these 6-arms of mine must help alot when it comes to cleaning and they do."

Makal pats his cousin on the elbows with all six arms and then steps inside his shop, "Ah well yes Hegtev, we're here for a few supplies and then we have to use your portal in the back to get to the outlands."

Hegtev nods and walks with Makal to the counter of his shop.
SeptimusMagistos

11-10-06, 01:55 PM
"What do you sell here?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-10-06, 02:00 PM
Hegtev lets his cousin wander off to the back and gather whatever he needs and then turns back to the cloaked man, "I sell pretty much whatever you want, if I dont have it right now then chances are that I can get in about two to three days for you. So what is it you're looking for sir."
SeptimusMagistos

11-10-06, 02:03 PM
"Courage."
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-10-06, 02:21 PM
Hegtev makes a facial expression similar to that of raising an eyebrow, "Hmm, there are many things that can give you courage, some you'll have to go in the alley across the street for, but what more specifically do you want. Theres a nice amulet I have in stock, may be what you're looking for."
SeptimusMagistos

11-11-06, 01:36 PM
"Unlikely. I have transversed a thousand worlds. I have looked in every magic shop from Abyss to Elyssium. I have donned every amulet and attempted every potion I found. None of it works. I fear I shall never realize my destiny."
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-11-06, 01:50 PM
A clanging is heard in the back of the shop and Makal leans around the corner with a guilty smile on his face, "Dont worry cousin nothing broke, I'll clean it up."

Hegtev looks back then smiles and turns back to the cloaked man, "Oh interesting. Well if you care to elaborate then I may be able to help, if not then I understand."
SeptimusMagistos

11-11-06, 01:58 PM
"See, it's like this. Since the dawn of time, my race has led the battle against darkness. Each of us has taken up the fight. But I became too scared and ran away when it was my time. It haunts me still, but I cannot bring myself to go to battle with darkness yet. Not in that way. So, I've looked all over the multiverse for courage, and no one seems to be able to help me because of what I am. Do you really think you can help?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-11-06, 08:49 PM
Hegtev smiles, "Theres nothing wrong with not fighting, being a humble merchant I myself have backed down from many fights. So yes of course I'll help. By the way, if you dont mind me asking, what race are you?"
Lord_Gareth

11-11-06, 08:52 PM
Syra steps out of a random shadow.

"Hot damn, that woman can get worked up about milk. Folks, never show up at my mother's house without the moo juice."

She looks about.

"Wait a second, what's all this?"
SeptimusMagistos

11-12-06, 04:55 PM
Hegtev smiles, "Theres nothing wrong with not fighting, being a humble merchant I myself have backed down from many fights. So yes of course I'll help. By the way, if you dont mind me asking, what race are you?"

"Isn't it obvious?"

Hegtev gives a confused look to the saiyan then turns back to the cloaked figure, "Nope I have no idea what you are my friend. A cloak tends to hide a person's appearance."

OOC: Sorry Gareth, I was waiting strategically to get to that. Cool pic Kaizer. :OOC

BIC: Makal leans around the corner at Syra and Turlus, "We can be on our way shortly." He smiles and turns back to what he was doing and a bright flash is seen and a whirring sounds is heard.

Makal then walks back out to the group with a small tan pouch on his waist. "Well theres the portal. We'll wait til whatever transaction these two are having is complete and then we can be on our way." He points two right thumbs at his cousin and teh cloaked figure having their own little conversation.
Lord_Gareth

11-13-06, 08:48 PM
Syra's form wavers at the bright flash.

"Oi! Don't be doin' that near me! Light is BAD."

With that said, she steps through the portal.
SeptimusMagistos

11-15-06, 04:39 PM
"Well, the cloak is actually for another reason. But it does serve for that too. If you don't know my race, I won't tell you. But I will say this: My race fights darkness better than any other. That's why I can say with confidence that light is GOOD."

The cloaked figure also goes through the portal.
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-15-06, 08:52 PM
OOC: It would be preferable to know what race the cloaked figure is OOC as the DM of this thread (You can tell me via PM if you prefer). I may know but its just not clicking in my mind what he is, sorry. :OOC

BIC: Hegtev smiles and nods, "Well I'll be seeing you around then. Good luck on your trip and if ever need anything you know where to go, Hegtev's Shop of Magical Wares."

"Sorry about the light Lady Syra." Makal says then walks back to his cousin and the two whisper a small conversation and shake hands in their odd way, then Makal returns to the portal and gestures for the saiyan to go through first.

11-17-06, 10:18 AM
You step out of teh portal and all around you is flatdesert-like terrain, but as you look around more you notice a small hut in the distance.

Makal steps from the portal and it closes behind him, "Welcome to the outlands, we are near Curst the portal town leading to Carceri. We are here to see someone very mysterious and thought lost after his overthrow."

Makal then begins walking towards the hut cautiously.
SeptimusMagistos

11-17-06, 05:10 PM
The cloaked figure looks at the army. Though its face cannot be seen, the figure seethes contempt. The figure then turns around.

"Nice place, I suppose."

The figure follows Makal without making a sound more.
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-20-06, 04:37 PM
Makal walks to the small hut and stops about ten feet away. He turns to face his companions and speaks in a hushed tone,

"This is the home of the previous yugoloth lord, Anthraxus. Now I'd enter first but I think it would be best for me to stay back in case we need a spell cast quickly."
Lord_Gareth

11-20-06, 04:48 PM
Syra gives a derisive snort.

"Coward. Allow me."

Stepping into the closest random shadow, she re-appears inside the house.

"Hello? Foul spawn of the dark gods? You in here?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-20-06, 05:00 PM
Makal ignores the comment and readies himself to cast spells.

The inside of the house is dark, darker than normal darkness and it reeks of sickness and decay. The stench is overwhelming and the air is heavy. In the darkness a reply comes in the form of a deep voice with a slight underlying high-pitched noise behind it, "I am here and waiting. The door is unlocked and I wont harm you... yet."
Lord_Gareth

11-20-06, 05:02 PM
Syra sighs.

"I see through magical, nonmagical, and god-induced darkness. Drop the act and let's get serious here. I've got associates outside who want to bargain with you. Seem to be under the impression that you'll kill them."

With an idle wave of her hand, the darkness in the room collects around her waist, forming a stylish belt of darkness.
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-20-06, 05:35 PM
OOC: Well in that case, of which I was unsure of her darksight capabilities. :OOC
BIC: The inside of the hut has many unlit candles leading to a overly large chair. The walls are lined with bookcases packed full of books and some books even litter the floor.

In the chair is a large humanoid figure with a ram's head. His face and parts of his body are rotten and discolored. There is a large ancient tome in his hand from which he does not look up from during his response to Syra.

The figure finally looks up and Syra gets an eerie chill about her as his gaze falls on her, "I meant no offense with the darkness, my dear, it was merely to allow me to read in peace. Lets meet those friends of yours and bargain."

He appears to smile and maggots fall from his half eaten cheek, you are unable to discern whether the maggots are seperate living creatures or a part of his gruesome visage. He puts the book down on a table beside him and waves a hand, lighting most of the candles around him. The room is now dimly lit and the colors now visible make the dark lord appear that much more disgusting and disturbing.
Lord_Gareth

11-20-06, 05:43 PM
"Alright then. Allow me to fetch them."

Syra dissapears into her belt, which hangs in place, and reappears outside. With another pass of her hand, everyone is sucked into their own shadow ((Syra borrows someone's)) and reappears near the belt. Syra is, of course, wearing it.

"Here you are folks, one extremely hideous spawn of all the gods that are vile and dark. No offense."

((On top of teleportation disorentation, that was REALLY COLD. As stated earlier, like swimming naked in Stygia with the Fire subtype. THAT COLD))
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-20-06, 06:06 PM
Makal is shivering and chattering his teeth when he emerges from the shadow and his voice shows a hint of sarcasm, "Thhh..ankssss..alotttt...Ssssyrrra."

Anthraxus watches with interest, "None taken Lady of the shadows..."

OOC: To be continued when the other players catch up.
SeptimusMagistos

11-20-06, 07:49 PM
The cloaked figure seems undisturbed by cold.

"I'd suggest you don't do that again, or I cannot be responsible for consequences. Hey, you there, ugly! What are we doing here?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-20-06, 08:24 PM
OOC: Good enough. :OOC

BIC: Anthraxus turns his smile into a frown, "My, my such rudeness, what exactly are we exchanging anyway, as if I cant guess." He eyes one of his books in the bookcase to his left.

Makal is recovered and eyes the same book as well, "Oh yes..." He hurries to the front of the group, "I wish to own the book with the map to Talluthurixesica's lost lair in Gehenna."

The diseased lord looks with interest at Makal and brings the book from the shelf to his hands, "And what, praytell, do you have to barter with?"

Makal looks to the group and puts a hand to his mouth to cover his whisper back to them, "Do any of you have anything of value?"
Lord_Gareth

11-20-06, 08:26 PM
"Hmm. Lemme check. You wouldn't BELIEVE the things people just chuck into infinite voids."

Syra vanishes into her belt, which continues to hang there, leaving the room unnaturally shadowless. A few minutes later, she comes back.

"Let's see...Eye of Vecna, Book of Vile Darkness, picture of Tyr at a wild party..take your pick."

She spreads an assortment of miscellania out.
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-20-06, 08:54 PM
Anthraxus peers more closely at the spellweaver, "I know you dont I?"

Makal sweats and gets nervous, his lowest hands twitching and his middle ones and upper ones shrug, "No you must be confusing me with someone else, I've only read about the great oinoloth Anthraxus, never met you until now."

Anthraxus smiles again and looks over the items the shadowmancer has found, "I'll trade you this book for the spellweaver and the Eye of Vecna, what say you?"
Lord_Gareth

11-20-06, 08:56 PM
"Can't say anything about the finger-waggler, he ain't mine to trade, but since someone just threw the Eye away, that I can trade ya."

She holds out the orb in question.

"Mind you, betraying me, or likely any of us, is a bad plan. Especially me. You can't hide from darkness. Ever."
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-20-06, 09:19 PM
Anthraxus stands and grins, dropping maggots to the ground from somewhere underneath his skirt.

Makal backs away slightly and hides his lowest hands behind his back, he looks at Syra, "You dont quite get who we are dealing with here do you. Not only will he double-cross us, but we wont be able to do a thing about it, not against his power."

Anthraxus grins and takes a step forward, an depressing aura of fear and despair and helplessness overcomes the adventurers., "Flattery will not help you coward." He takes another step and forms a ball of electricity in his hand with what appears to be maggots and decayed flesh inside of the orb.
Lord_Gareth

11-20-06, 09:22 PM
Syra lazily stretches forth a hand, and jerks on it.

And the demon leaps up like a maironette.

"There's more than one kind of darkness. For example, the darkness in your soul. And since your whole soul happens to be darkness, I can control you like any other shadow. Maybe you'd like to taste oblivion?"

She expertly twists some fingers, and the demons shakes his head no.

"I suppose not, we need you to get the book. Will you behave?"

((Only against fiends could this trick possibly work. Thank you, Sorcen)).
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-20-06, 09:54 PM
OOC: Sorry but Anthraxus is too powerful to control, my archfiends are more of the Dicefreaks variety power-wise, although we wont get into all the stat battles here. :OOC

BIC: Anthraxus straightens up at the jolt on his soul, "Interesting I wasnt expecting anything of that sort from you, you are much more powerful than you look my dear, but you still pale in comparison to my strength of will." He gets a slightly annoyed expression on his face and stares at Syra. She feels hot and (maybe) sweat pours from her.

The diseased one holds his electric orb of disease and continues staring down Syra. "Dont be too stubborn or you'll catch a few illnesses."

Makal chants in a low voice and puts another pair of hands behind his back.
Lord_Gareth

11-20-06, 09:56 PM
"Fine then, my little marieonette. Let's see who can pull the strings."

Syra's belt expands to fill the room, and the Shadowmancer passes out of view, magically enchanced or otherwise. She IS the darkness.

Her mocking laughter comes from everywhere, nowhere.

"Feel like a thousand knives of soul-shredding ice?"

The demon lord can feel it, blades of darkness ripping into him, into his flesh and soul. ((assuming he doesn't counter))
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-20-06, 10:07 PM
Anthraxus looks around but catches on quickly. As the 'knives' close in on him they hit a barrier of force, inside this barrier there is a single ball of light emanating from a ring on his finger. "I know what your weakness is my dear, I know your what you fear."

He hurls his electric diseased ball and it is heard colliding with something solid. Satisfied at the sound of an impact, he begins walking towards the door with his barrier following him.

OOC: Things will get moving to the battle soon enough, and there's gonna be alot of battle dont worry.
SeptimusMagistos

11-21-06, 06:09 PM
"May I suggest we stop this ridiculous power contest and proceed with the exchange?"
Lord_Gareth

11-21-06, 06:18 PM
"May I suggest we stop this ridiculous power contest and proceed with the exchange?"

Or he WAS going to say that. A band of solid darkness wraps about his mouth, silencing him.

He hears a whisper in his ear, the voice of Syra.

"Be quiet fool, I'm distracting him so I can get the book. You think I'd let him keep the Eye of Vecna?"

Out loud, in her best mocking, grating voice, Syra laughs.

"I think not, spawn of maggots. Let's see how well your little candle handles attacks from within you."

The demon lord can feel the knives ripping into him from within.

"Your body IS your soul, remember? And since your soul is darkness, your body is vulnerable to me. Truly, you shouldn't underestimate a Shadowmancer when one is a fiend."
SeptimusMagistos

11-21-06, 06:29 PM
His voice rings in Syra's mind, burning like a great fire.

"Fine."
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-21-06, 10:00 PM
Anthraxus smiles at the pain, "You forget the extent of my powers shadowmancer. Follow me if you dare." He laughs maniacally and disappears and one of Turlus' soldiers outside yells out in surprise.

Makal flings the door open and throws a forceball out at the yugoloth lord as he walks quickly towards the gate town to Carceri (Whose name escapes me at the moment). The forceball hits Anthraxus in his back but has no effect. Makal stumbles out the door and after the diseased lord.

Anthraxus disappears into the gate town (Despair?) and screaming is heard.
kaizer_soatze

11-22-06, 01:13 PM
I have no care for the saftey of the people turlus begans projecting a hail of blasts levilng the town then scouts to find the enemy ready to attack
Lord_Gareth

11-22-06, 01:28 PM
"No!"

The darkness in the room flows out with unnatural speed, absorbing the blasts before they can level the town.

"WHAT KIND OF MONSTER ARE YOU? The people's safty should be our FIRST priority!"

For a moment, the darkness forms into a face of rage, before streaking off to intercept the demon.

"Fiend! Leave the people out of this!"
Sorcen_Anenooata

11-22-06, 01:48 PM
Anthraxus laughs manically and continues walking through the town, "Most of these people are fiends or of fiendish ancestry, I dont intend to hrut them unless they get in my way. I'm headed for Carceri, join me and we will bargain there."

Its clear to you by now that Anthraxus has no intention of bargaining and is completely and utterly insane. He teleports to the large portal leading to Carceri and takes his time activating.

As the adventurers close in he nonchalantly walks through laughing and grinning. He leaves a trail of maggots and decayed flesh behind but seems to lose no mass as the trail appears.

Syra comes through the other side of teh portal, the landscape is swampy and full of bogs and quicksandand there seems to be a slightly red tint to everything, there are no signs of life anywhere and she cant help but feel depressed as she enters this plane.

Makal comes follows in after her and tries to turn and warn the others that they should be careful not to touch the ground when they come through, but he finds that this portal does not go both ways, its only an entry portal. "Umm, thats not good."

As Anthraxus reaches dry ground the soldiers attack, he absorbs the attacks and all of the soldiers panic and try to move away as their energy is sapped from their bodies.

Anthraxus' body swells with the power and some of the soldiers drop from the sky like dead flies. He starts chanting and waving his hands in strange patterns. With this the spellweaver waves his lowest hands in a pattern reminiscent of a pentagram, the symbol materializes in blood floating in midair and then shapes, surprisingly very quickly, into a dragon seemingly made entirely of blood. He releases the pentagram and it fades into oblivion as he climbs onto the blood dragon's back.

Meanwhile, atop the mountain Anthraxus continues his spellcasting and the plane shakes more violently and the darkening/lightening continues as well. Makal has made a sword resembling a rapier made of blood appear in his hand and is readying himself for battle. His blood dragon begins to ascend to the skies and takes flight just as your last images of Carceri fade away.

New images come into view, images of a large farming community mostly populated by gnomes although there are hound archons and other archons and other assorted celestials. "Oh my, my. . . absolutely fascinating! I'll have to purchase this book, most definitely! Hmmm. . ."

His brow furrows and he scratches at the whiskers of his beard.

"I can barely understand it, but I like it! If you've got a manual that can help translate this text you've got yourself a sale - I'd happily pay-* Oh?"

With quite a startled look the gentleman looks up though his spectacles, and notices more people in the room.

"Why hello! Who are you?"

The elderly man smiled. The Hound Archon who ran this shop was a very humble sort of person. 'Pay me whatever you think is fair for it' is something he would often say to his customers, or otherwise he always sold for a bargain.

"You're too good to us my dear friend, I must insist on paying 10 gold pieces for each of them! Books are very precious things and I have to make sure you too get your money's worth!"

As soon as the books were paid for the armored gentleman puts away his gold pouch and focuses on the arriving party.

"Now what's this business I hear of slaying dragons!? That can be a dreadfully dangerous undertaking! Something you're not taking too lightly I hope."

But the party appeared to be some-what indifferent about it.

"Hmm. . . you're very confident. Well splendid! I never give up the chance to see a dragon up close! If you would have me I'd be happy to join you! BIC: The cloaked figure strides through the portal and comes out the other side, the sight on the other side is complete chaos and quite different than when he left the dreary place.

The great diseased fiend is standing atop the mountain where he was before but he appears to be watching things this time, below him is utter chaos as the titans rampage freely and the other various prisoners of Carceri roam freely throughout the land and some seem to be trying to teleport and planeshift out, the barriers of the plane feel weakened.

There is another being here, larger than an other prisoner and a sickly green glow surrounds him, his tail is the only thing visible yet and he seems to be slumbering loudly, likely done by Anthraxus to keep the beast from destroying the other prisoners.

"Let us find your guide, and be quick about it too! Goodness, what have we here?"

Roland hasilty clambers towards the female form under the white sheet while trying to be mindful of all the danger surrounding him! Beginning to perpare for the worst he investigates what lies underneath the sheet.

Anthraxus telepathically communes with the cloaked figure and the gentleman below, You mean Makal, the great blood mage, He grins and continues, You can have the worthless fool.

He kicks the beaten and bloodied body of the spellweaver. As it rolls down the mountain and gets closer, you can make out that he is still alive and conscious but beaten badly and bleeding quite a bit.

The various monsters see Roland trying to contain them and begin taking an interest in destroying him. A few stop their chaotic rampages and walk towards Roland and the cloaked figure.

Viscious creatures close in upon the helpless lass lying on the ground, she stirs slightly but otherwise seems to still be asleep. As Roland investigates and the sheet is slowly slid aside, new parts of the young lady are revealed. She has a shimmering golden tail and a beautiful white feathered angel's wing on one side of her back and a black and red demon's wing on the other side. She stirs and awakens slowly.

". . .Ughhh. . ."

A momentary flash of discomfort washes across the strange girl's face before she slowly opens her eyes and takes in the blurry visage of man kneeling beside her. The girl's eyes then immediately grow as wide as saucers as she clumsily scrambles to her feet and lets out a horrified shriek!

"NO!!! KEEP AWAY FROM ME!!! PLEASE NO MORE!!!"

Looking to be on the verge of tears, the winged damsel spins around on the balls of her feet and flees in the opposite direction, her long sunburst hair and shimmering golden tail trailing behind her. However, she only makes it a very short distance before awkwardly loosing her footing and tumbling face first into ground. From there the girl tries to stand up again, but seems to have an awfully difficult time doing so, almost as if somethings throwing her off balance. While this bode very poorly for the poor maiden, it looked rather amusing through the eyes of the blood thirsty monster that was looming above her. The girl lets out another scream as the creature quickly descends down upon her.

With a heavy grunt of exertion Roland charges forward with his greatsword in hand and places himself between the enigmatic girl and the beastie threatening her.

"No no my dear! You must run the other way, please! To where that gentleman in the cloak is!"

The armored knight swung his sword infront of him hoping if nothing else to distract the monster enough for the maiden to get away. . .

"My cloaked friend! Are you able to fetch your guide, Makal?"

It was all Roland had time to call out before engaging the monsters surrounding him.

The cloaked figure suddenly raised its arms and forcefully dragged Makal, Roland, the maiden, and anyone else friendly I may have forgotten, behind it. Then, the figure raised its had a bit.

A thermonuclear inferno of the sun emerged in a sudden flash, burning away with heat so intense the rock evaporated, and every kind of light and radiation in both visible and nonvisible spectrum, leaving the area for miles around a scorched, radioactive crater.

The figure replaced its hat. The ones behind it should be fine.

The titans are badly burned and knocked down by the sunburst but seem to slowly be regenerating their wounds. The large dragon's tail was unaffected by the blast and seems to be stirring awake.

Makal makes noises as if he is talking in his sleep, one eye is half open and the other is blackened and swollen closed. He should be fine after some healing and the rest of the group is shocked from being dragged so suddenly behind the cloaked figure and at his amazing display of power but were not harmed any.

Letting out a yelp as she's flung backwards, the girl slides to a halt behind the cloaked figure just in time to watch the world in front of her explode!

Not knowing she was safe from the spell, the girl instantly curls up into a fetal position, her angel and demon wings covering her like a shield and her tail wrappingtightly around her. From behind the curtain of feathers and scales all that can be heard is whimpering and tears.

12-15-06, 12:29 AM
Roland studies the destruction around him. When he asked the cloaked figure if he could fetch Makal he hadn't been expecting that!

"Well done my cloaked friend, but you must exercise discretion when wielding such powerful magics lest it look like general frippery."

Roland observed that the powerful explosion had also had its consequences too! Whatever monstrosity had been peacefully slumbering was starting to show signs of life. And there was an old wizard's proverb that that went strictly against!

"But well done none the less. We've got two guests that need attending to lets see if we can whisk them to safety!"

But no sooner after he says it the elderly man frowns.

"I don't want to leave that tail to it's own devices. . . I wonder. . ."

Roland spies a large globule of molten magma boiling its way up to the surface and quickly begins casting a spell.

. . ."teleport object."

A spacious chunk of the surface 30 feet away disappears.

"I just sent that to cook the interior of monster's cranium! Assuming it has one the spell shouldn't misfire."

While surveying the effect of his spell Roland begins preparing a plane shift spell back to Bytopia.

Its skin is pale white, the color of bone, and it is surrounded by an aura of nauseating bright glowing green energy.

From behind the mountain Anthraxus senses Roland's move and yells "Noooo you fool." He quickly casts a spell of his own and gets the lava out of the dragon's head but not before it melts away at the great beast's brain. The diseased lord calls out to Roland, "Now even I wont be able to control his rampage."

He ducks back down behind the mountain hoping the dragon wont notice. Meanwhile the collosal beast stops thrashing so much and focuses in on the adventurers with an insane look in its eyes. He then notices the spell and recognizes it, "Oh good Bytopia, i need some healing, I dont even want to know what diseases I have just from being in contact with that fiend."

Roland holds off firing his spell. On one hand he wanted to be off to Bytopia, but on the other he felt obligated to stay until something could be done about the calamity all around them. He turned to address Makal.

"Yes, I want to see you healed and the young woman properly attended to but is it alright for us to just leave this beast here?"

Roland faced the monster again.

"The titans are horrifying but even the creature that held you ran from this dragon. Should it break loose it could be a catastrophe!"

Monsters were closing in on them.

"As far as I can tell that dragon is impervious to outside forces or otherwise spells that would effect it directly. Attacking the dragon with forces from within itself and using spells that indirectly effect it seems to be the only apparent way to harm it. . . If we mean to fight this creature we'll need an established shield against it's attacks and an indirect way of damaging it from within itself. . . Makal, as a blood mage is there anything you can do to that effect?"

Roland acknowledged the others.

"Use anything you can think of. . . but we'll need protection too! I can plane shift us out of here at a moment's notice as backup - the spell is all but cast - Or otherwise end my spell and assist with this."

The titans fully regenerate and turn their attention to the adventurers but seem wary of the dragon.

Makal tries to stand but collapses back to the ground, "Well it appears I wont be much use, I have a few ways that I can damage him but I'm not sure I'm strong enough at the moment." He raises a hand and strains to use a spell to pull the dragon's blood from him, the dragon seems to take notice of this but teh spellweaver is not strong enough to do anything more than cause a wave in the blood.

More of the prisoners from outside the area of the cloaked figure's blast, come in to investigate. Some of the more sane ones retreat immediately when they see the dragon.

The dragon stomps around and swings its tail wildly. Makal gives up on his spell and closes his eyes, "I think a strategic retreat for healing would be smart, maybe some of the celestials will come back to help us as well."

As the mountain crumbles to the ground, Anthraxus is seen tumbling down the other side for a moment then he catches himself and floats in the air. He turns to speak to the cloaked figure but notices the fiery figure fading from view and the dragon following the fiery figure with an intent to attack Anthraxus. The fiend tries a spell but knows it wont work, the dragon keeps coming and the two do battle as the adventurers disappear from view.

As the adventurers disappear, they see the titans coming at them and many of the other prisoners catching up to them. They reappear in Bytopia, back in the same hound archon's tent they left from. He is surprised at their entrance but greets them happily and begins healing their wounds, beginning with Emily.

"Yes, very well done!"

The eldarly man went up to the Hound Archon's countertop and retrieved his helmet which he had left behind from his last visit! He didn't put it on, but he held onto it like itwas something important.

"Oh! I wondered where I had left this! I was in such a hurry to jump through that portal I had completey forgeten it!"

Roland adjusted his attention to the cloaked figure and suddenly became very curious.

"I don't believe I know your name yet, or for a matter of fact - and I hope you don't think I'm being rude - what you are. . . Are you an Elf underneath all of that?"

Roland peered into the cloacked figure's cowl but almost immeaditly got distracted by the Saiyan in his presence.

"You my friend I can see in all of your splendor, but I don't think I've come across anything like you before. You must be an outsider of some importance I think. Well, my name is Roland Wanderson and it's a pleasure to meet you! If we have some time latter I've got all sorts of questions to ask you! . .

. . .And you my dear."

Roland turned around and approached the area where the Hound Archon was tending to Emily.

"I've got some questions for you too. . ."

Roland scratched at his chin, what would he ask first?

"What? . . no . . . . . . I've got a different question. Can I get you anything to drink? There's a shop a few doors down that makes the most superb tea I've ever tasted. It's run by a funny Gnomish fellow and I'll happily get you a cup. . . Of course. . . you don't have to take me up on my offer. . . oh no, no no. A wise mother tells her child not to accept anything from strangers - And I can't imagine a stranger group than what you see before you."

Roland gaver her an odd look. She was fairly strange herself.

"But be reassured my dear that you are among people who wish to help you. . . I hope you can at least find some comfort in that."

Roland makes his way to the door. Fully prepared to retrieve that tea in a moment's notice.

"Oh! And I want to know more about that map! No, no my dear that's not a question for you. Makal, do you know anything about it? We had some trouble dechipering it, which ~thankfully~ is what lead us to you!

However the cloaked figure is viewing the battle through that mirror, he sees Anthraxus dodging the dragon's attacks and unsuccessfully assaulting it. Anthraxus tries to teleport away from the great beast and after a few swats out the air he manages to get away in one piece.

The hound archon has finished healing all of the adventurers and goes back to comforting the young girl. Makal finds the map and looks at it,

"Oh yes the map, wow I feel good now, better than I thought I would. Anyway, yes I can decipher it easily enough, I'm guessing this noble merchant has a portal somewhere in here to allow us to go to Gehenna, then from there we dodge the Yugoloth cities and find the mountain where the dragon should be."

"To answer your question, Roland, no I am not an elf. I'm a star. These clothes are for your protection. If I didn't hide underneath them, my presence would kill people from 10 miles away."

The cloaked figure turned to Makal.

"Now, then. What was that thing we woke up and what is this dragon we're slaying, anyway?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

12-19-06, 09:44 PM
Makal seems to expect the questions about the dragons, "Well the dragon back in Carceri was the Nuke Dragon, apparently a one of a kind experiement of some unknown wizard. From what I hear it was originally a fang dragon but was given a nuclear reactor, whatever that is, while still in the egg.

From what I've heard and just seen of it though I can tell you it has a deadly aura about it that kind of rots you and makes you sick and its breath weapon is a beam of the aura stuff and supposedly it can spit a glob of that stuff and make it explode in a huge explosion with the effects of the aura as aftereffects, good thing he didnt get a chance to use that on us.

As for the other dragon, she is a blue dragon tainted by the plane she lives in, shes extremely old and may not even be mortal anymore, if you would call a dragon mortal that is."

12-20-06, 04:51 AM
". . .Thank you. . ."

The winged girl offers a timid bow to the hound archon as he finishes patching her up and hurries back to the duties of running his shop.

". . .And you my dear."

"Oh?"

Quickly spinning around, the girl turns to faces Roland's perplexed gaze.

"I've got some questions for you too. . .What? . . no . . . . .

A small smirk spreads across the girl's face, which is then immediately followed by a deep blush.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by that. . .Ummmm. . .Tea? Yes. Tea would be incredibly nice of you, thank you. . ."

Her voice isn't much louder than a whisper, and her eyes never stay looking up at Roland for very long, they mostly seem focused on either her bare toes poking out from underneath the silken sheet she has on, or some wondrous item hanging on the store walls. Roland gets the impression that she's quite shy.

Seeing the older armor clad man move towards the door, the girl then turns her head towards the other group of people who all seem to be discussing something over a map. She had no idea how they stumbled upon her, or what she was even doing in that Hell they found her in, but she was pretty sure that they had just saved her life. She wanted to thank them so much for what they had done, but she didn't feel comfortable interrupting them while they all looked so busy.

Well. . .maybe she'd try to slip in a quick 'thank you' anyway. . .It couldn't hurt, right?

"Thank you guys."

Makal looks at the map for a moment then nods and looks at the hound archon, "Sounds good, so where is this portal of yours sir?"

The hound archon smiles happily and goes behind his counter and produces a pair of large rusty metal rings, "Heres your portal friends, when your all ready to go I'll activate it for you and you can pay me what you feel is fair when you return from your trip."

Via the mirror in Carceri, you see the nuke dragon has blasted the wards of Carceri out of commision and many of the prisoners of the plane have breached the barriers and are escaping to various planes.

Anthraxus appears in front of teh mirror momentarily and then it seems to be moving and is somehow placed on the nuclear dragon's head so that you now see everything it does. Anthraxus allows himself to be seen in the mirror once more and disappears from view quickly with a laugh.

Emily

"WHAT!?"

the girl looks towards the cloaked figure as if he had just announced the world was about to explode. What terrified her almost as much is how calm and collected the man had sounded when he announced it.

"What do you mean you just released god-like criminals? What's going on? What in the realms were you trying to accomplish!?"

Emily couldn't help but begin to question the intentions of her company again. . .

"Indeed we should!"

Roland returned with a steaming cup of tea in hand and almost went for a sip until he remembered who he had brought it for!

"Oh my, forgive me - it is my favorite after all!"

With a touch of regret in his face he surrendered the cup to the girl.

"Now then -Those monsters are on the loose! It's one of the reasons I didn't feel right about coming here right away. . . Did you see how quickly they were leaving the plane? All I did was stop one! Pah! A grain of sand compared to a desert. . . And that spell will wear off tomorrow afternoon anyway."

As Roland grumped about it he noticed the girl's budding distrust.

"Oh! We didn't release them. No no, there was some monster there - I suspect he's responsible for it - and I believe Makal who witnessed it better than anyone else here can confirm that suspicion."

When the Hound Archon spoke up about the Portal Roland turned to regard him.

"That's 1400 gold for a portal to another plane my friend and I can pay for 400 for it."

Roland recalled the price quickly, seemingly from memory.

"I suppose if we're done here we may carry on. Are we off to the Bleak Eternity of Gehenna to investigate the Blue Dragon? Or back to the Tarterian Depths of Carceri to see if we can set things right?"

Roland regarded the girl once again.

"My dear you don't have to join us in this endeavour. If you know where your home is we'll make sure your on your way before setting off again."

The hound archon looks worried about Emily and moves cautiously to comfort her, "Of course you should be worried about their escape, I wouldnt say its your fault though."

Makal looks depressed but regains himself when his name is called, "The evils of that prison were released by Anthraxus, true, but I did play a hand in it. I was not strong enough to defeat the diseased daemon and so when he had me at his mercy, he invaded my mind and found the power he needed to release them. A power I dont even know much about, all I know is that it was prophecized and that he stole a piece of my mind to release them all."

He sighs after this speil but remembers the portal, "I have about 200 gold on me I can contribute to the portal purchase. So which place do we want to go first then?"
SeptimusMagistos

12-22-06, 05:30 PM
"Darn. I never carry gold on me. These clothes can't have pockets for metaphysical issues. Does anyone have some lead though? Oh, and I say we leave this mess for someone else to clean up. I suspect this is how adventurers earn their keep. Certainly, some of the ones I traveled with did so."

OOC: Either way is fine with me, if you guys dont take care of the Carceri prison break then I can turn that into a new adventure and have Makal run back to the bar to recruit adventurers for it after the dragon quest is done, or we can prolong this one and deal with the prison break then go back and destroy the dragon afterwards or vice versa.

"My dear you don't have to join us in this endeavour. If you know where your home is we'll make sure your on your way before setting off again."

"Home?"

Hope and sorrow seemed to fill the girls words as she looked longingly down into her tea cup. After a few moments the she lets out a shuddered breath closes her eyes. Together her angelic and demonic wings wrap around her as if two concerned parents embracing a weeping child, and her golden tail curls around at her feet like loyal pet trying to comfort it's owner.

"No. . .no I can't. . .I don't want to. . . "

It sounded more like the girl was trying to convince herself more than anyone else.

"But, even if I did want to, I still wouldn't. Not after hearing what you just said."

The girls looks up at the rest of the party sounding a little bit stronger than she did before.

"If some evil's been released on to our world than I want to help set things right again. I'd feel wrong just fleeing from it."

Standing up from where she was sitting, the girl shifts her attention to Makal.

"Sir, which threat do you feel presents a greater danger to the realms? The blue dragon that was mentioned, or these escaped criminals? We need to address the more dangerous of the two first. There's no sense in wiping up spilt milk when the sharp pieces of it's broken glass container still lie on the ground."

The girl nods her head.

"Then I vote that those escaped creatures be dealt with first. . .What about you Mr. . .ummmm. . ."

Emily looks back at the gentleman who got her the tea, blushing as she tried to remember his name.

". . .Ronald was it? . .I'm sorry. . .I don't think I know your name. I'm Emily."

Emily then turns to face the others, still blushing.

"My name is MS24T9. It's not very personal, but it's useful. Very well, let us then proceed to round up the escapees. Question is, where do we put them?"
Emily

12-27-06, 05:04 PM
"Back from where they came?"

Emily sounded a bit hesitant. She really had no idea how to contain an escaped evil, so she really wasn't sure if her suggestion was even plausible.

"There must be some way of restoring their old prison, right? Who built it and caught them in the first place? Maybe we could use their help. They must be every bit as interested in recapturing these escaped criminals as we are."

the girl looked at everyone in the room humbly, hoping that her suggestions were actually helpful.

"Yes, I must agree! Those escaped titans could do horrible things!"

Roland fretted at the thought. And then looked curiously at Emily as she called him Ronald.

". . . it's Roland. . . my dear friend Emily. . . ha ha! I'm sorry that's what I deserve for not introducing myself properly!"

When MS24T9 shared his name Roland blinked.

"Let me see if I have the pronouncition correct. That's Emm-Es-Two-Four-Tee-Nine? Gosh! May I call you Istar? It's the elven word for "sorcerer' and, why, it's got the word star right in it! I think it suits you."

Roland smiled at the mighty mage-like character then scratched at his whiskers.

". . . Now then. . . I'm not sure where we could cage those titans. I could take a stab at getting my hands on a living vault, but certainly that wouldn't be big enough. . . no, no, no. . . Hmm, There are a few spells that create an extra dimensional plane for the purpose of storing things. . . Hmmm. . . I wonder if an existing spell could be augmented to work for what we need. . ."

Roland clapped his hands together as a good idea sprang into his head.

"Why, if you could get a demensional anchor spell in permanent effect within that plane you would have a prison that's inescapable! . . Oh!"

Roland's brow furrowed.

"Nevermind, you would also have a dimensional space this is immpossible to get anything inside of. . . hmm. . . hmmm hmm. . . I wonder if. . ."

Roland paces about mumbling about other mixed up ideas and plans.

The cloaked figure jumps up and down in an earth-shaking elation.

"Ha, ha! I finally have a name! I always wanted one. Hm. Istar. I like it!"

Makal nods, "Well then it seems we must find out who created Carceri now, i think a demiplane with lots of enchantments on it to keep them in there but allow others to enter it. Anyway I'm not sure who knows my name and who doesnt so allow me to introduce myself. I am Makal, magus of many schools and master magus of the blood magi of Keralask.

Now who can make that demiplane and who can put the enchantments on it or were we going to search for the creators of the prison plane first?"

12-30-06, 06:07 PM
The hound archon, who had just been behind his counter digging for something, comes back up with a small dusty tome. He opens the book and flips through a few pages, "Ah here we are, a passage on the creators of Carceri, I knew it was here somewhere."

He passes the book around teh room for the adventurers to read:

The Creators of Carceri, Who Were They?

Everyone and no-one. Carceri is the reified concept of betrayal, and traitors are always trapped within their webs of treachery and deceit. Carceri is a prison because its inhabitants trap themselves and one another - because there can be no loyalty and no cooperation in the plane (because the plane itself rewards betrayal and punishes loyalty), everyone slides deeper into prisons of their own making.

Many forces can accurately claim to have created Carceri, because everyone creates Carceri every time they betray a friendship or break an agreement to benefit themselves. Carceri is created again and again, created within the hearts of oath-breakers and traitors, each act of treachery causing the plane to grow, stone by stone and shell by shell.

The baernaloths, primal creators of Evil, created Carceri when they banished one of their own for the crime of creating a race tainted by Chaos. Then, of course, they went on to taint their own creations with Chaos deliberately, as part of a long-term plan.

The Olympian gods created Carceri when they turned on their parents and cast them into a prison - and created again when they refused to free their uncles, the hecatonchieres for whose sake Gaea had begun the war in the first place.

Carceri was created when primal concepts, potential paradigms of universes that might have been, were hidden away by those forces that came to rule the current cosmos. When concepts like good and evil and fire and water came to power, displacing those alien ideas that might have dominated instead.

Carceri was created when Cain slew Abel. Carceri was created when Annam banished his sons Grolantor and Karontor. Carceri was created when Talos banished his servant Malar in jealousy over his growing packs of worshipers. Carceri was created when a sultan was stabbed in the back by his trusted vizier. Carceri was created when Brutus stabbed Caesar, when Tantalus fed his son to the gods, when Ixion seduced what he thought was Hera, when Judas betrayed Christ for a pouch of silver, when a man visited a prostitute instead of his wife. Every lie a trap, every hypocrisy a shackle, every promise broken another bar in the cage, every infidelity another brick in the wall.

: After reading the passage Makal says to himself, "We question, we speculate, and all the while the Bells of Othrys chime in chorus with each and every self-inflicted, self-destructive betrayal..."

OOC: Edit: I forgot to give credit where credit is due, which would be to Ripvanwormer and Shemeska the Marauder in this thread I started to ask about Carceri- Carceri Creators (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=763265)

Makal snaps out of his thoughts and turns to Istar, "Thats teh right track but I believe the time of recovery for teh plane would be a bit more than you think."

The hound archon closes the book and places it on his counter when it returns to him, "I will have a friend of mine speak with Pelor about rebuilding the prison plane itself."

He pauses and searches under his counter once again, when he stands again he holds a small bronze colored cube, "In the meantime, you can use this as a place to hold the prisoners as you hunt them down. When I get word from my friend of his discussion with the sungod, then I will find you and tell you the results as well as give you a means to put the prisoners back on their proper plane and if at all possible a list of the prisoners."
Roland_Wanderson

01-02-07, 09:43 PM
"Good grief, re-building the prison as it was would take ages to accomplish! Or otherwise quickly rebuilding it would inevitably put the world into ruin. . ."

Roland paced about.

"Certainly to bind those monsters it would take several severe betrayals - not just one or two light ones. . . A plane built upon the sins of others? That sounds like a powerful force if it could be properly harnessed. . . and Carceri seemed to do it! Hmmm."

Roland stopped pacing about.

"And that monster, Anthraxus? Was able to break that seal. . . Oh my, oh my. . . he certainly knows what he's about, doesn't he?"

When the Hound Archon revealed the copper colored cube, Roland couldn't resist approaching it and giving it an examination.

"Such a simple-looking device. . . How does it work?"
Emily

01-03-07, 01:50 AM
Emily looks at the hound archon with the utmost lost expression written all over her face. She had gotten confused about half way through the Celestia's lecture, and all efforts to make any sense of what was said after that left her feeling even more baffled. A peasant's education wasn't much of a foundation to work off of when discussing the makings of other worlds. And the mention of a friend speaking directly to the Shining Lord Pelor was almost enough to make the girl faint! Gods were just one of those things that you revered and prayed to, but no one actually ever met them!

Fortunately for Emily, things became a lot simple when the hound archon presented the copper cube. Emily peers at it every bit as intently as Roland, wondering how something so small could be used to trap titans.

"How are they all going to fit in there?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

01-03-07, 08:08 AM
The hound archon smiles and tries to explain the cubic device, "Well this is an artifact I managed to get in a trade. It uses some sort of magic to trap beings inside of it. From what I under stand of it, it will only be able to hold about ten beings in it at any one time so thats why I'll be counting on Pelor to help by reforging Carceri."

Makal seems spaced out and speaks in a low tone, "I had that spell inside my head without even knowing it and he stole it. Anyway, I doubt that Anthraxus can break down Carceri's barriers, for awhile at least."
SeptimusMagistos

It is highly likely that I can get a list of the prisoners that escaped sooner than I'll have the answer from Pelor."

A scroll materializes in front of the lantern and falls to the hound's outstretched hand, the hound looks the scroll over and looks satisfied, "Ah thank you friend." The lantern zips back out after seeming to bow to the hound.

"This is the prisoner list I was speaking of. I beleive it would be too overwhelming to take it with you without a method of disposing of the prisoners after that cube is full so I'll keep this copy and give you a small list of ten prisoners each time you go to capture them. Savvy?"
Emily

01-07-07, 04:27 PM
"Alright."

Emily waits for the short list of ten names to be written and then peers over the hound archon to see the first name.

"Ummm. . .I don't suppose there's any magical way of finding where these people are located, is there?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

The hound archon answers the girl as he writes up the list of names, "Actually there is scrying and things you could do to find them but some are even more simple. You can infer where some of these beings went by their files and what information we have on them. Take, for instance,Soaf Zihuor, he lost his love so he will be seeking revenge against the killer and would be in his old village of Khateri. Heres the list by the way." He lets the group see his paper and smiles.

1. Lofku, half solar-human warlock, betrayed his now-dead god to the god's rival.
2. Sh'Jusfak, Shapeshifter with death touch
3. Xoegof, earth elemental that is invulnerable except for his weakness to a sunburst spell which turns him to stone until he gets any moisture on him and he turns back to mud, mass murderer
4. Soaf Zihuor, half-elf ranger/warlock, after his true love was killed he destroyed an entire village in a rage and was curse to grieve for enternity in Carceri by a wizard's dying breath.
5. Lulpa, drider, betrayed Lolth and was banished to Carceri
6. Fved, lizardman that betrayed his village and was exiled then took revenge by vowing to kill all lizardmen, eventually killed himself and was reborn as a petitioner in Carceri in his former body.
7. Hadto, a toad that was once a servent of a powerful being that became cursed for bein a theif when he wont so he (as a toad) went back to the ruler and used his poison tounge to kill the dude and when the gaurds seen teh toad sittin there liek a normal toad they was talkin botu it and when the toad croacked it sounded liek he said hadto and onl;y criminals can understand him but they named him hadto cuz thats all he says to innocents
8. Akterem, crazed green dragon, has an obsession with mice and will go to any lengths to capture one, unknown crimes
9. Lullbug, unique cute little beetle that normally sings beings to sleep but got angry and put alot of people to sleep for eternity until the Lullbug is killed, there is a defensive spell ability on the Lullbug's shell which makes killing it very hard, was placed in Carceri until a way to kill it is found.
10. Faos, a black eyed, fire furred wolf that was sent to Carceri because it killed all the men of a small island, women calm the beast

Roland was shrewed, and didn't like spening money.
"Oh my. . . Istar, have you no money at all? . . Well. . ."

With woe written across his weathered face Roland held out the bundle of money he had had used to pay for his book with earlier and put it on the shop's countertop.

"That's good for one portal my friend and just shy of all the healing you did. . . I'm afriad. . . ahem-* If you could open the portal to Jujitar I've got one portal left to see us safetly back here."

Beyond that Roland would need scrolls or a good night's sleep.

As his hand left the moneybag on the countertop a small smile began to spread across Roland's whiskered lips. Surely the enlightenment gained from the journey would more than make up for it. They were chasing after some fantastic villians after all.

"Allright! Xoegof is our first quarry! Are we all ready to go? Emily finish up that tea. It's too good to let go to waste!"
Emily

01-11-07, 02:04 AM
"OH! Ummm. . .alright."

Cooling her tea till it was a temperature comfortable enough to drink, Emily gulps down the rest of the hot beverage and then stands up, ready to set off on her first adventure!

. . .Well. . .at least. . .as ready as she was ever going to feel. . .

"EEP! Wait a second!"

Suddenly remembering that she's not wearing anything more than a silken sheet, Emily blushes a deep shade of crimson and then timidly asks.

"None of you would have anything I could possibly wear. . .would you?"

Without a copper to her name, Emily prayed that someone would have something she could borrow. She also wondered if anything in all the realms would fit her anymore since she now possessed two large wings and a long tail. The later of those two thoughts sent shivers down the young girl's spine. . .

. . .Neither of her wings nor her tail truely belonged to her. . .
. . .All three of them had been stolen from three creatures less fortunate than herself. . .

The hound archon smiles at Roland's genorosity and would have let them use his portals for free but seeing his look of acceptance of giving away the money. He pulls a bracer off of a display on the wall and puts it on,

"With this I can cast the spell to open the portal to Jujitar. Your payment is more than sufficient Roland, thank you. And you my dear..." He turns to Emily and smiles and averts his eyes when she blushes, "...I beleive I have some clothes that will keep you safe and should fit despite you extra extremities."

He walks to the back of his tent and comes back with softly glowing white clothes including shirt, loose pants, and a robe for her as well. He hands the clothes to her and keeps his eyes averted, "If you wish you may go to the back room to change. Also if you have any training with a weapon then let me know and I will lend you one of mine and also let me know if you'll need a belt as well."

Makal reaches into a pocket of his robes and produces a handful of large bloodred rubies. "I can contribute these if need be."

"Seriously, though, does anyone have a brick of lead I can borrow? Or iron? After that, we should have all the money we need. It has to be a metal, though."
Emily

01-14-07, 04:05 PM
"Thank you so much! Ummm. . .as for that weapon. . ."

Emily's eyes scan through all of the weapons hanging on the wall. Judging by her modest frame, most of them look too heavy for her to even carry.

"Maybe a dagger?"
* * *

When Emily steps out from the back room she's fully clothed. Her wings stick out from the open back in the robe, and the very tip of her tail can be seen poking out from behind the robe despite her best intentions to hide it.

"Okay. . .I think I'm all ready. Lead the way guys."

Emily hoped the cheerful smile she put on hid the fact that she was terrified about stepping into the unknown.

Roland rubs his chin at the thought of Emily using a dagger. A dagger wasn't the best choice he thought, but perhaps given her strength and how comfortable she was with using a weapon a dagger would suit her the best. He turned his attention to the enshrouded star.

"No Istar, I'm afriad I don't have anything like that on me, but perhaps we'll find a few ore desposits on Jujitar."

When Makal produces the rubies Roland declines with a hand gesture.

"No thank you my friend. However, I am interested in purchasing Emily a sunblade when we have the money for it. If you could contribute to that I would be greatful."

Roland glanced at Emily.

"Weilding a sunblade is as easy as weilding a shortsword, but with the range and benefites of using a bastard sword! You'll see what I mean when we acquire one - and mark my words we will!"

Roland just didn't want to tell her that one cost over 50 thousand gold. If emily was the simple peasant girl she seemed to be at heart, siting that ammount of gold could undo her!

"Everyone be alert when we cross into Jujitar. We're as likley to end up somewhere safe as we are to end up in danger - and don't forget first impresions can be decieving!"

The shadows waver and darken, and the room goes pitch black for an instant. Then the darkness recedes, and Syra stands there, glaring dissaprovingly at Septimus.

"I swear, turn my back for one measly second and ya'll go sprinting across the cosmos without so much as a warning or a good-bye and -"

She notices Roland and Emily.

"Who the hell are you two? For the love of all that is holy, please tell me you aren't more finger-wagglers. We need some cutters."
Emily

01-14-07, 09:46 PM
"Finger wagglers?"

Emily had no idea what that meant, but it was presented in a derogatory enough manner that the girl was clearly hurt by it. Any courage she had managed to build up for the quest ahead was now beginning to waver. Did she look like a "finger waggler?"
Lord_Gareth

01-14-07, 10:06 PM
"Casters girl. Squishies. Those who are fragile and easily broken because they lock themselves up in towers poring over dusty tomes. By the way, I'm Syra. I'd be one of those fragile people. Shadowmancer by trade, manipulate darkness, yada yada. I signed up at the outset, but we're sort of low on cutters and bashers. Strong-arm types."
Roland_Wanderson

01-14-07, 10:58 PM
Roland smiles grandfatherly and picks up his plumed helmet.

"Why, hello to you Syra! You must be a friend of Istar's."

He tipped his head and acknowledged her. At first glance Roland looked like an elderly human far past his heyday. He didn't look very strong, but despite this he wore a suit of fullplate armor, a large greatsword and shield strapped to his back, and a long sword belted to his hip. Everything about his equipment looked gaudy and in several places there were gems worked into it. Atop the bridge of his nose he wore a simple pair of round spectacles and on his chin he sported a short brown beard with grey working it's way into it. The rest of him looked weathered but otherwise fairly well-kept.

"I'm versed in both. But as I grow older I must admit to relying on one to help with the other."

Roland smiled and gestured to Emily.

"This is Emily and we've only just met her. She's a mystery to me. To all of us. Despite our offers of returning her home she seems compelled to join us, for which I am equally grateful and concerned about. I suspect she herself doesn't yet know what she is in terms of mage or fighter. She did cast a powerful barrier spell to protect us in the realm we discovered her in. . . Perhaps she's a gifted cleric. . ."

Roland eyed Emily. One of her wings was feathered like an angel's, but the other was leathery akin to a demon's.

". . . or perhaps something worse." He regretfully muttered under his breath.

"She will find out for herself. We were just on our way to Jujitar to apprehend a mass murdering Earth Elemental named Xoegof. He, among several others, was recently released from his prison in Tarterus by a filthy monster named Anthraxus. We could use a finger waggler such as yourself if you wish to help us."
Emily

01-15-07, 12:12 AM
"Casters girl. . ."

"Oh?"

Emily Blushed. Being called a spell caster wasn't so bad, not that she really considered her self one. She wasn't sure where she'd place herself on the adventurer spectrum; probably somewhere between 'fool girl' and 'wool headed idiot.' She really didn't know the first thing about adventuring. .

. . .Well. . .There was 'one' other spot where she thought she'd fit. . .Monster. . .Ever since she had gained the wings and tail Emily though herself a freak, which is why she wasn't so keen on returning home. . .

Pushing those thoughts away, Emily looks at Syra and smiles.

"It's an honor to meet you Miss. It makes me feel better to know that someone of your talents will be with us."

". . .Emily did cast a powerful barrier spell to protect us in the realm we discovered her in. . . Perhaps she's a gifted cleric. . ."

"What? I did!?"

Emily thought back to the battle, but had no recollection of ever casting such a spell. . .all she could remember was curling up into a ball and cowering. Could she actually cast magic? The mere prospect of that was actually kind of neat!

"I. . .I honestly don't remember ever casting anything. You can't cast spells by accident can you?"
Roland_Wanderson

01-15-07, 01:31 AM
Roland's expression suddenly became curious.

"You don't remember casting the barrier spell? . . . Oh my."

The armored gentleman began pacing around Emily like she was some sort of alchemical experiment.

"This wing. . . yes it was the feathered one. . . It turned very bright when it happened."

Roland looked at the wing a moment longer before taking out a small notebook and inkpen to begin jotting down some notes.
Emily

01-15-07, 03:47 AM
Emily kept a watchful eye on Roland as he paced around her. She wasn't sure how much she enjoyed being examined like a test subject, but the older man's intentions seemed to be innocent enough. All the same though, She didn't like being looked over like she was a specimen. The last time she had been, things had ended very badly for her. . .

Makal sits back and watches the conversation until now, "To catch you up Syra, Anthraxus released the prisoners from Carceri and now we have to go around and recapture all of them and send them back, then after that we'll go after the dragon we were originally after."

The hound archon takes a gem covered dagger from the wall, the markings on the handle and lower part of the blade depict a great battle scene, "Here you are Emily, this one is special in some ways. When you figure it out better I will teach you how to use its other powers. Oh and sadly I dont have ny sunblades in stock but I'll let you know if one comes around Roland."

"Good to see you Makal, gods know that I can't be the only one with sense on this trip."

Syra eyes the archon warily. The light of a celestial's soul wasn't good for her health in the slightest streatch of the imagination.

"I'm afraid we haven't been introduced, though your name came up in my universal search a few days ago, on Baator. Where am I, exactly?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

Makal seems to smile at Syra's remark.

The hound archon extends his hand to shake Syra's but quickly rethinks this action because he doesnt wish to harm the shadowmancer with his soul of light, "Actually I have not spoken my name to any of you yet. It is nice to meet you Syra, I am Er'-Inelmak, Primes have been known to call me Erin or Eric though as a short form of my name. You are in Bytopia at the moment by the way."

Eric the hound archon nods at Istar and presses a large emerald on the bracer. A green beam springs from the emerald and strikes a clear spot on teh wall where Eric aimed his outstretched arm, a large swirling blue portal appears and grows to about the size of a normal doorway.

"Here we are then, take this ring so that you may return here when you go back through this portal and so you will be able to see it." He looks around the adventurers and decides to hand it to Roland since only him and Emily would be able to wear the ring properly.
Roland_Wanderson

01-15-07, 10:50 PM
"Thank you Eric."

Roland put away his notebook and accepted the ring from the Hound Archon. He seemed completely oblivious to having caused poor Emily any distress.

Once one of his old rings was traded out for the new one, and his gaudy gauntlets were secured back on his hands Roland took a moment to mutter a few spells in preparation for the journey. To anyone familiar with magic the spells are easily picked out as Magic Weapon, Magic Vestment, and Divine Favor.

"Alright - keep a eye out for trouble everyone."

And with that Roland stepped through the portal.

The beam of light flies in a straight line and over a few hills before Istar senses it striking something and a loud roar is heard that causes the ground to shake.

Upon closer inspection of the bodies it is apparent that they are covered in mud that squirms and pulses with an unnatural life. The body seems quite dead but the mud atop it is living in some strange way and inside the mouth of teh dead man is mud, inidcating that he was drowned in mud rather than crashed, although crushing seems to have happened some other bodies and all of the buildings.

01-17-07, 01:28 AM
"Oh my gosh!"

Emily covers her mouth as she steps through the portal, looking on at the catastrophic scene with eyes the size of saucers.

"What-what happened here?"

As if to answer her question, A roar like thunder tore through the sky, causing the ground to quake viciously, and the ruined remains of building to tumble to their foundations. Emily quickly found her self questioning the logic of following everyone else through the portal. What in the realms had she gotten herself into!?

"Ummmmm. . .f-forward I guess?"

Waiting for the party's reply, Emily catches a quick glimpse of the surrounding patches of mud. . .Something about them looked fishy to her, but she couldn't discern why. . .

Makal raises an eyebrow at this turn of events and inspects one of the bodies more closely, "This is intriguing. It seems liek a good thing we have Istar with us or else this guy would be alot harder to beat."

At Syra's sudden combustion, Makal turns his attention from teh body to her and tries to shade her from the sunlight with his robe and tries to drag her into the shadows. "This is even more intriguing."
Emily

01-18-07, 11:01 PM
"Miss Syra!!!"

Watching Makal attempt to shade the Shadowmancer as best he can, Emily dashes over to both their side and shields them against the light with her wings. The girl then frantically inspects the woman, checking for a pulse or any other signs of life.

Meanwhile, Emily's white feathered wing begins slowly pulsing with holy energy, delivering a steady stream of healing to the injured woman.

"ISTAR! Careful with that spell!"

It sounded angry coming from the old man, but in actuality it was the sudden shock of Syra's reaction that made Roland loose his composure, not any real anger he felt towards the star-being.

"Oh my is she alright? Syra, is there nothing you can do to shield youself from the adverse effects of bright light? Syra?"

If Roland had a Darkness spell prepared he would have casted it, but Darkness was a spell he rarely used. The only sactuary he could offer Syra was another body to block the light.

"With Syra's sensativity we should focus on draining away moisture from our opponent through other means. Istar, can you can cast Horrid Wilting?"

Horrid wilting was a dreadfully painful spell that evoporated moisture from the victum. It was devastating against living humanoids but even more destructive against elementals that relied on water.

The animated bodies let out almost human screams of pain as the blades of darkness rip through their bodies, a thick red-brown mixture of blood and mud pours from their wounds and the more badly damaged ones collapse once again. The ones that can still crawl after collapsing do just that and continue to crawl to attack their enemies, the ones that were injured badly enough to be permanently dead have a look of horror and pain on their faces, almost enough to make Syra feel guilty for killing them.

As Istar flies towards the mudman he notices something moving in its shadow but it quickly disappears to another shadow some distance away. The mudman is a humanoid shaped mass of mud and various dirt and debris that it collected from its rampages throughout its lifetime. 11. O'Vautut, a human shadow necromancer with only blood red eyes and brilliant white teeth and fangs, steals the dead and uses them against their living relatives and steals objects for the shadow to bargain with other beings and eventually steal their bodies

O'Vautut sheds his human form and goes back to a shadow being composed of darkness except for his brilliant white teeth and fangs and his blood red eyes. His past is full of evil deeds of taking the recetly deceased and rasing them as zombies to kill their living relatives and stealing objects of value from the familys of zombies he would create, he then learned the art of necromancing and became a master at it but was imprisoned in Carceri before he could use his power to its full potential. When he was released he decided he needed Xoegof's muscle and that the mud man's path of destruction would be a good coverup for him practicing his art of rasing the dead.

"Ah bloody hell you found me out and I know better than to resist your prying princess of shadows." (hoping that term is used correctly to describe Syra). He holds his hands out as if asking to be cuffed and waits to see the adventurers's next move

The shadow necromancer screams in agony as his body is torn to shreds and his soul is trapped. He still screams after these events but it is only because of the hopeless situation he is now in.

Makal mutters under breath, "Indeed, Hell hath no fury like a woman's wrath." He then smiles at Syra and begins his walk back to the town where the rest of the party was left beside the portal.

"Okay. What's next?"

When they reach the portal, Makal pulls out the list of prisoners and marks off Xoegof's entry and notices that the necromancer's information has appeared on the list and been marked through all on its own, "Hmm well we have two down and nine to go, any suggestions as to who we hunt down next, if not then we'll start with the first on the list."

This list now looks like this:

11. O'Vautut, a human shadow necromancer with only blood red eyes and brilliant white teeth and fangs, steals the dead and uses them against their living relatives and steals objects for the shadow to bargain with other beings and eventually steal their bodies

Makal seems to raise his eyebrows, "An interesting idea, Alright we have Syra against Faos and Istar against Lullbug, I will hunt down Soaf Zihuor, I beleive I may be able to relieve him from his curse. I know where he will be. Lullbug will likely be near the city of Kar and I suppose the wolf would be back on his island. I can open portals to each of the places if need be."

He casts the spells with his three pairs of arms and the three portals open simultaneously. "Good luck comrades." He says as he enters his own portal to find find his quarry.

Istar steps through his portal and emerges at a path in the midst of an ancient dense forest. The beam of light snakes along the path and stops at a clearing in the forest. The sunlight pours through this clearing and on the other side, resting in the shade of the trees, is a gigantic ladybug with a multitude of maidens and one young farmer fast asleep around her.

Syra steps through her portal ready for a battle and finds herself in the midst of a battle. There are many armored men, some on horseback, with the symbol of a howling wolf head emblazened upon their armor. Fighting them fiercely is a wolf whose fur seems to be aflame and his eyes are black as night. The wolf is growling and snarling and the men seem timid and afraid at this beast they've only heard of through legends.
Lord_Gareth

02-17-07, 10:13 PM
Unknowing and uncaring of any innocence, Syra twists her hands. The men fighting the wolf experience a highly uncomfortable sensation in their guts.

Right before their torsos rip around, twisting of like macabre pop caps.

Syra approaches the wolf slowly, unthreateningly. She speaks softly and soothingly in Sylvan, the closest thing animals have to a language.
Sorcen_Anenooata

02-19-07, 01:02 PM
The wolf seems surprised at the woman's sudden destruction of his enemies, his firey fur lays down slowly and he sniffs the air as he slowly approaches Syra. His flames die down but stay alight as a low glow, he stops cautiously and waits to see what the woman's next move will be.

02-19-07, 05:16 PM
The Lullbug cocks it head sideways, akin to the look of a confused dog. It begins to scrape its wings together creating a surprisingly beautiful song. The song starts off with a sound similar to a rough chirp but soon it smoothes out and becomes a sound quite similar to the sound of a beautiful woman singing a lullaby to her child. The effects of the song would normally make a being fall fast asleep, but due to Istar's racial makeup he merely feels a strange mixture of sadness and joy from listening to the song.

Syra crouches down until she is resting on her ankles, keeping eye contact with the wolf. Syllables of Sylvan pour off her tongue like water, spoken with an almost fey grace.

"Tell me your story, Faos. What has been done to you?"

"Yes, that's lovely, but it doesn't quite answer my question."

OOC: The Lullbug cant exactly talk. Nor can Faos really but I will allow Syra to 'hear' the story of Faos through a sort of vision because of the magical nature of the Sylvan language. I dont have the time or mindset to reply properly with the story at the moment so I will wait until later for this, sorry.

The Faos wolf throws its head back in a howl and Syra begins to see and feel as Faos does. The wolf travels through his memories and takes Syra through his mind until she comes to a deep dark portal in a grove in the forest, there is a grey wolf standing near the portal and inspecting it cautiously. Suddenly a demonic spirit with a snarling and drooling visage bursts forth from the portal and dives down the wolf's throat.

Syra feels the wolf's struggle against the demonic spirit and senses it take over the actions of the body as the wolf bursts into demonic flames and bounds towards the nearest town. She feels the wolf's confusion as he destroys all the men of the town with his newfound demonic powers. Finally he comes to a woman and the demon wants to kill it but the wolf does not allow him to, but the woman was being used as bait by the men remaining.

A bag is thrown over the woilf's head tehn all is dark as he is knocked unconscious. He awakens bound and laying upon an altar with a old sage casting a spell on him, the next thing he knows he is thrust across time and space and reappears in a horrible place filled with demons, Syra recognizes this place as Carceri and feels the anger of teh demon and the helplessness of the wolf.

The wolf sends an emotion that belies its approval and happiness at this deal with the woman. The feeling takes form as a word in her mind, "Peace."

The demon senses this 'evil' feeling of a way out for the wolf host and gains control of the beast. The firey fur springs to life and the wolf's eyes go red and it seems to fight within itself about whether or not to attack Syra. Finally the demon apparently wins as the demon wolf lunges at the woman, aiming for her throat.

Syra twirls sideways, whipping her daggers out of their sheaths. She rips twin lines of blood across Faos' hide as he lands, but she doesn't follow through. Instead, she concentrates, trying to bind the wolf to the ground with his shadow.

"Help me Faos. Contain your demon if you can."
Sorcen_Anenooata

02-21-07, 07:19 PM
The wolf is bound by his shadow as a dog is by a chain, Syra remains out of range of his snapping jaws and he seems to snap back to his good side momentarily when she speaks his name. His eyes turn back red and he resumes snapping at her but his legs seems to cease their struggle to break free. Shes senses that the innocent wolf side is what is causing this resistance.
Lord_Gareth

02-21-07, 07:23 PM
Syra concentrates, taking advantage of Faos' aid. His shadow reaches up to envelop him, merging with his blood. It flashes darkness, and then the wolf's shadow forms a dark collar around his neck.

"You are free of the demon, Faos, but not of me. I can only hope that you enjoy my company. You will never cast a shadow again, but I think that is worth it."

She strokes the wolf, the chill of her darkness helping to shield her from the flames.

"Come on Faos. We should get back before my friends start to worry."

Damn straight. Waiting is for those who can't sieze what they want!

Syra dispels the leash, sitting on the ground to wait. She hands Faos a hunk of meat that she pulls from her own shadow; flash frozen and preserved by its stay in an endless void of darkness.

As Syra finishes her sentence, a muscular and handsome beardless humanoid with slightly pointed ears comes rolling out of Makal's portal. He seems very depressed but has a strange alure about him that makes Syra feel more than slightly attracted to him, assuming she is heterosexual. The man is wearing plain brown clothing and scrambles to his feet with a ball of energy forming in his hand. Makal walks through the portal nonchalantly and begins walking towards the man, "Soaf Zihur, I say again, I can lift your curse if you only allow me to help y..."

The man known as Soaf throws his ball of electrical energy at the spellweaver before he can finish his sentence. Makal catches teh ball in one of his lower hands and crashes it but continues to hold his other hands out unthreatenly.

Soaf seems hysterical and delusional when he speaks, "Stay away from me demon, I know you killed her and your not getting my soul too. It took me years to free her from your grip." He continues to back away from Makal and holds out one hand that begins to glow with a dark purple energy.

4. Soaf Zihuor, half-elf ranger/warlock, after his true love was killed he destroyed an entire village in a rage and was curse to grieve for enternity in Carceri by a wizard's dying breath.

Istar extends his hand to touch the bug's antennae and thinks of the relationship of stars and all other matter. All worlds and their products are just remains of old stars fed by younger stars (Or so stars say.) Therefore, he tries to use that to get his point across

"I am Istar. What do you call yourself?"

Lullbug touches an antennae to Istar's clothing and recieves the images of his thoughts, she replies in a voice even more soothing then her song, "I am called Lullbug by those who have not communicated with me, so few are able to but my true name is Nara. To reply to your earlier question, I am getting a meal and my revenge. History is told only by those that win and have a chance to speak it."

Notice the personality shift? She gets more comfortable around men she's attracted to. She doesn't know why, but it's immensely helpful

"Thank you. Soaf, would you like..nah, they're usually frozen. Or do you eat frozen food? Actually, we'll wait for niceties. Care to sit?"

She forms a pair of reclining chair-like shapes, and she sits on one in an easy, sideways manner, her feet dangling out in the air.

"My name is Syra Kavon. You've already met Makal. Let me make this clear; Makal is not a demon. I know, he looks like a demon, the name sounds demonic, hell, he probably smells demonic from the time he's spent in the Arena, but he's not a demon. He's from an ancient and proud race of magic users, and I'm sure he's quite insulted to be called demon."

She smiles at Soaf, and continues in her gentle, friendly tone.

"We're here to help you, and a few others. I've already helped Faos here, and he's all the gladder for it, aren't you Faos?"

The wolf wags his tail as Syra continues petting him.

"We're not the bad guys here, and Makal definitely isn't either. He can help you, if you let him. Oh, and don't mind that loud, ethereal screaming. That's a shadow necromancer. I dealt with him earlier."

Makal smiles and waits unthreatenling beside hsi portal.

Soaf cautiously makes his way to the chair and sits down even more cautiously. He doesnt watch Makal as much but seems more interested in Syra. "I am Soaf Zihuor. I am sorry.. Makal, but my stay in Carceri has affected my mind I'm afraid. How do you intend to help me though, everything is lost to me and there is nothing I can do." He holds his head in his hands and sighs.
Lord_Gareth

02-24-07, 09:43 AM
"Well, we can't rebuild your life. That's something anyone has to do for themselves. But Makal can lift your curse, if you let him. After that..well, you'd be more or less on your own. Makal and I, along with a friend who will be along shortly, have other business. There's a dragon that needs slaying, and other former prisoners that need to be...dealt with. Some of them are past saving."

She shifts in the chair until she isn't so much sitting as lying on her back, streatching out in a way that reveals more than a little of her curves under her outift. Yet, she makes it seem perfectly natural, and her eyes never leave Soaf's.

"If you want, I can send you to Sigil. I can't make portals to anywhere else, but the City of Doors is certainly the place to go if you want to go somewhere else. Or you could stay on. We could use someone with a shred of sense or power. Istar's a bit...well, he isn't stupid, but he ain't the brightest...bad analogy."
Sorcen_Anenooata

02-24-07, 10:33 AM
Soaf has forgotten about Makal already and is focused entirely on the curvacious woman. He stammers slightly as he speaks but his face belies that he is thinking of his dead lover, "Should I really be lifted of my curse though, dont I deserve it."

Makal speaks up, "Thats the curse speaking friend, you will only know the truth after I free you of your curse. What do you say then, shall we releive you of your curse friend?"

The half-elf bows his head but glances at Syra with a glimmer of hope in his eyes, the glimmer is quickly extinguished by his grief. He looks once more from Makal to Syra and seizes the moment of hope, "Yes lets try it Makal."

The spellweaver slowly walks over and waves his arms in a precise pattern. He lays his lowest left hand on Soaf's shoulder and white energies surround him and are seen to overtake a black aura surrounding his head. Soaf lays back in his chair, exhausted and with tears in his eyes. He looks at Syra and then up at Makal, "Thank you, I believe my crimes have been repaid aplenty, perhaps more then enough if you've seen Carceri you will know what I mean."

He stands and walks over to Syra and leans down to eye level with her, "I beleive I will accept your invitation to accompany you on this journey."

02-24-07, 10:55 AM
Syra gives Soaf another smile, rolling over to sit up once again, her legs crossed lightly as they still dangle over the side.

"Well, if I remember correctly, there's a dragon on that list. Makal, care to open a portal?"

Syra's voice slides smoothly into Soaf's mind, a gentle intrusion that only goes in deep enough for communication. Her voice in his head is alluring, seductively dark.

"Care to join me? I'd love to get to know you better."

02-24-07, 12:35 PM
Soaf smiles at Syra and answer mentally back to her, I'm sorry milady but I still must mourn my wife's passing, I am finally back to myself from my fit of rage and then my curse so I can finally mourn her properly and must do so to honor her. Perhaps one day in the future things will be different.

Makal pulls out the peice of paper with the rpisoner list on it and reads it over and makes the appropriate marks. It now looks like this:

1. Lofku, half solar-human warlock, betrayed his now-dead god to the god's rival.

Lullbug mulls this over for a moment, "You mean to say that my actions against these humans will warrant more death and more revenge and that I should release the ones I have put into an eternal sleep as a show of good faith?"

Soaf nods his agreement and readies himself for battle whilst following Syra.

She slides into his shadow, and he feels her cool, dark presence against his mind.

"Sorry about the mental contact, but it's unavoidable while I'm riding your shadow. Hmm...even your shadow feels handsome. I envy whoever you settle down with. Let's get going."

Out loud, she calls for Faos to follow Soaf. Setting down his still half-frozen meat, the wolf obeys.

Soaf and Faos walk through the portal and find themselves in in a large ancient forest outside the mouth of a gigantic canyon filled with all sorts of tropical plants. At the bottom of the canyon is a dark deep cave with the faint smell of acid emantaing from it. Soaf mentally contacts Syra, "Should we go in?"

Lullbug considers the offer, "I think I have learned what you mean Istar. If you beleive it best teh I go to this place you have in mind then I shall follow you but I could remain here if you like."

Soaf begins to walk cautiously towards the cave, "I'm not immune to acid so I suppose we'll try reasoning with the beast, shouldnt Faos be in a position for a sneak attack so that he wont be seen as a threat?" As they are deciding what to do, a small gray mouse runs from the cave, travelling at an amazing speed for his small size and heedless of any danger the man and the wolf in his way may pose to him.
Lord_Gareth

02-26-07, 06:39 PM
"Good idea. Faos, if you would."

"Grab this, please. We can offer it as a peace token to the dragon."

As Faos slinks off and disappears, Soaf grabs the helpless and nearly frozen mouse and floats down the canyon and walks cautiously into the cave, making certain the mouse is in plain view for the dragon.

The smell of acid gets stronger as the cave grows darker and Soaf ventures deeper into it. Soon he brings about an orb of purple energy as a light and a rustling is heard echoing throughout the huge cave. After a few more steps, bringing the half-elf about a hundred paces into the cave, a booming voice rings throughout the enclosure. The smell of acid becomes stronger as it is apparent that the voice belonged to the dragon, "Who dares enter my lair, friend or foe?... Is that Rupert in your hand?!!!"

The Dragon's large head comes into view now as he looks closely at the mouse, he smiles a toothy smiles and the smell escaping his jaws is horrible, "You've found Rupert!"

Soaf seems confused and mentally asks Syra what to do next.

"Mighty Akterem, we come in peace to your most magnificent presence. Your very presence is an honor upon our most unworthy souls. We bring dark tidings of lands beyond that may yet bring threat to you, and hope that, by warning you, you might smite those who would dare threaten you and your mice."

Lullbug steps into the portal, her mental voice ringing through Istar's mind as the antannae's connection to him is broken, "Thank you for giving me a new chance at life. I can see I am needed here."

Soaf repeats Syra's words and copies her tone as well. The dragon doesnt even take the time to think, "My mice, who dare harm my mice. Thank you." Akterem begins walking out of his cave and is about to take off when he realizes what he forgot to ask, "Who are these enemies that I must kill to save my mice." He spits an acidic glob of spit onto the ground.

"Sh'Jusfak, a shapeshifter whose touch is death, is jealous of your immense power and the majesty of yourself and your pets. They seek your death. Once, like you, they were banished to Carceri. If you strike, they will not be prepared, and your might will bring them down like wheat before the scythe. Great One, there is a portal near here that will lead you to a man named Makal. He may take you to Sh'Jusfak. Simply tell him I sent you, and he shall guide you on the way. Make sure to say, 'The shadows beckoned.' He will know what you mean."

Syra laughs slightly in Soaf's head. She's spinning complete bull on this dragon, and with any luck, two enemies will destory each other for her.

The green dragon at Soaf as he repeats this information, "You did good informing me of my enemies, but I am not sure I can trust you to stay here and not steal my treasures." He sits on his haunches and reaches a clawed finger up to the small grey mouse on his shoulder and pets it lovingly.

Makal welcomes Istar back and talks about Lullbug and his whereabouts and then proceeds to mark the bug's name off the list. He watches as the star-man converts the ore into pure gold and marvels at his ability to do so easily what alchemists would give their limbs to be able to do.

Istar notices Makal's wonder.

"I see. It's somewhat strange to you, isn't it? It's elementary, really, I can either use nuclear fusion to make iron into gold, or nuclear fission to make lead into gold. I could do it with other things, but it's easier with metals."
Sorcen_Anenooata

03-16-07, 04:29 PM
The spellweaver continues to watch the process as best he can without burning his retinae, "It is quite interesting, I'd be quite interested to learn more of your people, we are both rare beings but you Istar, are far rarer it would seem."

"Actually, there are a lot of us. It's just that most of us live unobtrusively until maturity, then fly up into the sky and flare into a star. Me-I'm a coward. I can't do it. I just don't feel ready yet. However, I feel that this voyage has taught me more about courage than any magics I've tried so far."

"Ah I understand now, but you underestimate yourself friend. You are quite brave, you stand your ground against any enemy laid before you. Although, I suppose that is a different kind of courage." "I'm not sure, if we were to go then it may interrupt Syra's plans, me presence is generally unnerving to mortals and they tend to react violently, although I dont know how a dragon would react, they vary so much you know." Makal says as he turns to Istar from the portal.

The green dragon meanwhile, awaits an answer and looks at the stammering mortal man. "Speak up now fey-blood."

Soaf comes to his senses and speaks, "I fear your wrath great dragon, I would not steal from you. I will guard your hoard as best I can with my mortal life. Surely my warning to you is insurance enough."

The dragon thinks cautiously then roars at the man, "I suppose you are trustworthy fey-blood. I will return and for your sake, nothing will be out of place." With this he bounds, catlike, towards the portal and emerges on the other side.

Makal is startled at the site of a giant dragon suddenly emerging from the portal and begins to think the worst when the dragon speaks, "Soaf sent me to destroy my enemy Sh'Jusfak. He told me to tell the portalmaster 'The shadows beckoned.' Now where is this enemy."

Makal quickly takes note of the shadows reference and opens the portal for the dragon. The dragon again bounds through the portal and disappears. Makal turns back to Istar, "Wow those two did good on that plan."

As Soaf, Faos, and Syra come through their portal, an very angry one armed ogre comes forth from the portal that the dragon just went through. He is dragging the dead body of the dragon behind him with his last remaining arm and his other arm is a bleeding stump that appears to have been bitten off. He roars and slings the body of the dead dragon at the newly regrouped adventurers. "What is the meaning of sending a dragon after me, he bit my arm off."

Makal dodges the limp and thrown body of the dragon and updates his list accordingly. He then resumes watching the ogre intently as it changes its form, getting smaller until it is human-size. When it is done transforming it is a well-muscled human male with long blonde hair dressed in shining armor. "Sh'Jusfak, I presume?"

Syra steps out of Soaf's shadow, rematierializing in all her dark attractiveness.

"I think he was under the impression that you wanted to kill him and his mice and steal his hoard. I'm so sorry about that, he must have misheard me. That's what I get for relaying instructions through Soaf here, I hope you aren't feeling too bad about it."

By the laws of Kahatam, I am due restitution for my pain and anguish of your inability to relay orders to underlings. I demand blood as the payment for your crimes against me, kill this Soaf fellow and bring me this dragon's hoard and I will forgive you and let you be. Lord_Gareth

04-07-07, 09:29 AM
"Yes, yes, I believe I do have an idea. You want blood as your payment, huh? Well, see, I'm rather attached to Soaf. He's nice to have around, good to look at, and cuddly to boot. But, see, I've got this other underling that you could say is equally responsible. He sent me to the dragon in the first place, told me there was something of mine in his hoard. He was lyin' through his teeth, the little sod. You can rip him to pieces if you want."

Syra's voice is smooth, placating, the heart and soul of the negotiator. A dark presence, her own, slides into her companion's minds, telling them to play along. Of course, she is incapable of telling Istar using this method, so the shadowmancer prays that he plays along.

"The man's name is Lofku, he's half-solar who betrayed his former master. That should have given me some kind of indication, but he begged me to let him serve. In all likelyhood he's already disowned me and attempted to usurp my orginization. I'd be in your debt - and you'd have your vengance - if you could kill him for me. Makal here can make a portal for you."

OOC: Nice move again Gareth.

BIC: Sh'Jusfak looks at the shadowmancer warily and answers slowly, "Alright, I suppose his blood will suffice to quell my vengeance. Where is this man then?"

Makal casts the appropriate spell with his middle set of arms and a medium size blue portal that seems to suck inward appears in front of the shapeshifter. "Here we are, this should lead you to Lofku."

The shapeshifter keeps his eye on the group of beings before him and then wades into his portal apprehensively.

Soaf seems impressed and blushes some. "Am I to go with you Syra?"

Makal nods at the lady's request and waves his hand, opening a portal with a surface resembling brackish green water, "Watch your first step. It leads right out to a swamp, sorry."
Lord_Gareth

04-22-07, 10:24 AM

Syra steps into Soaf's shadow, re-establishing her mental contact as she does so.

Faos bows his head at Syra's request and wanders over to Makal's side and rests on his haunches.

Soaf and Syra emerge from the portal and step right into the swampy water. Soaf sinks as soon as he hits the water but quickly regains his bearings and swims in the murky water. He reaches teh surface and looks aroudn for land and swims towards it. An eight-legged crocodilian beast enters the water almost silently when he senses the splashing of the half-elf.
Lord_Gareth

04-22-07, 12:46 PM
Soaf feels the mental contact cease as his shadow steps out from under him, sending a cold shiver through his body. The darkness enlongates, drawing shadows from the swamp around it, until a large dragon of liquid night circles lazily around him, tendrils from its body feeling outward in the swamp for threats and to warn off predators.

He could be any toad here. Do you have any way of tracking him or even confirming that he hasn't been eaten?

"I'm looking for Lulpa."

Istar finds himself in a large cavern with a pitfall not twenty feet away that seems endless. The creatures that would normally attack any adventurers, shy away and hiss at the being of pure light that had invaded their home. A small pale gnome walks forward wearing dark goggles, "I know where you can find the evil that plagues our underworld."

Gareth's:
The crocodilian beast stays a safe distance from Soaf's shadow and the half-elf soon reaches the spot of land he was after. He drags himself up and looks around. "Thats very true Syra, I imagine he would be in a position of power though so thats at least something to go on."

The blind gnome smiles then turns and walks. He walks quickly and doesnt stumble once over the rough and slick terrain. He leads Istar through twisting caves and caverns, creatures shying away the whole trip. Eventually they come to a large opening with a glowing green area ahead of them.

The gnome stops, "Head towards the glowing area and you will find the drider you're looking for, she has been organizing the driders around here so be careful. Good luck shining one."
SeptimusMagistos

04-28-07, 03:10 PM
Istar extinguishes his light. He also waves his hands in a complex gesture. This sets the suit to total absorbtion and he no longer emits anything-light, sound, smell, heat, radiation, magic-all are gone. Essentially he's invisible and undetectable short of active use of spells (Which means freshly cast spells as opposed to ones already in place). Slowly and silently, he drifts down on the gnome and encases him in a short-term unreality. He then drifts over into the opening.
Sorcen_Anenooata

04-30-07, 09:46 PM
As Istar travels undetected through the underdark cavern, (assuming he can see in the dark) he sees the driders lurking around, some of them staring at the spot where he entered, trying to figure out what happened to the strange light source that had momentarily plagued their sanctuary of darkness. The soft green glow of the opening gets slightly brighter but not uncomfortable to the eyes of the light-sensitive beings that thrive here.

Istar eventually spies a rather large male drider speaking with some of the smaller ones. The drider seems to take note of Istar's presence but stays calm and continues speaking to his underlings in their odd language.
SeptimusMagistos

05-01-07, 05:28 PM
Istar glides down and suddenly goes back to full descernability, simultaneously throwing a fiery sphere around himself and the lead drider.

"Hello. I am Istar. Before we do anything else, would you like to tell me your story?"
Lord_Gareth

05-01-07, 09:20 PM
The shadow dragon retracts its tentacles as Syra thinks, the shadowstuff blurring at the edges as her concentration on its cohesion lessens. Finally, she seems to decide something. Shadowstuff goes flying outward, leaving only the elf.

"My shadows are going to collect all the toads they can find. Now we just wait."
Sorcen_Anenooata

05-03-07, 05:17 PM
The large drider sends his entourage away. "Short version, I tried to kill Lolth and usurp her power so she locked me away in Carceri because she couldnt kill me. What exactly is your purpose here?"

The shadows flitter in all directions, gathering toads and bringing them back to Soaf's feet. The toads seem highly confused, one of the shadows brings an obese toad back that seems as though he has a spark of intelligence.
Lord_Gareth

05-03-07, 05:30 PM
The shadows convert to ragged tatters that glide lazily in a circle above their mistress, looking to the entire world like a massive collection of wraiths. Looking somlemn without looking grim, Syra adresses the fat toad.

"Would you be Hadto? If so, don't hesitate to speak. I've seen the other side of more than one stockade, even if I only stayed there to humor my jailers."
SeptimusMagistos

05-05-07, 03:29 PM
"I am Istar. I came to bring you back where you came from. I needed to ascertain the reason you attacked Lolth. Your reason seems bad. Therefore, I guide you now into captivity."

The firery sphere blazes and levitates. As it sails towards the entrance, it shoots out balls of fiery light to keep back the driders.
Sorcen_Anenooata

05-09-07, 12:00 PM
Septimus: The driders hiss at the balls of light and flame but only one of them is mortally wounded, another is grazed but otherwise undamaged. The large drider, Lulpa, begins casting a spell, "I do not wish to return to captivity. Would it not be best for someone to replace Lolth, as a being of light I am sure you have no love for her. Help me overthrow her and I will use her power to fulfill your wishes o' great Istar." As he spoke these words, a shield goes up around him and he waits for his chance to escape the sphere (I may be reading it wrong but I gathered that Istar had trapped Lulpa in the sphere with himself and was using the sphere to transport Lulpa to the portal, and by the way, good line up there, "Your reason seems bad. Therefore, I guide you now into captivity.").

Gareth: The obese toad speaks, his voice is a surprisingly deep tone and his accent is akin to british, "Oi I be the guy yer looking for. State yer business darlin, by the look on yer it cant be cheery." Soaf hears the words clearly just as Syra does.
SeptimusMagistos

05-11-07, 03:02 PM
"True, I hold no great love for Lolth, but nor am I convinced that you would be a better choice. Lolth is old news. She's been quieted down, made more sedate, by all the crazy parties trying to kill her. You, on the other hand, seem like someone whose ambition is not yet broken. I refuse to take it upon myself to make this conversion. Back in you go."

The sphere keeps floating towards the portal (should be about halfway there)
Lord_Gareth

05-12-07, 10:04 AM
"Well, see, we have this minor problem that you happen to be part of. See, a bunch of people, you included, up and escaped from their prisons in Carceri, and we, somehow, have been drafted to deal with it. Now, I don't quite see a problem with you - you've paid for your sins enough, and you're STILL a toad, but we can't just up and leave the job undone."

Syra rests her chin on one hand, looking contemplative, but in Soaf's head, she's laughing.

"I guess we could let ya off if you can give us a bit of help. Your rap sheet says you killed someone with a poison tongue. Now, luck has it that we need someone killed. Interested?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

05-13-07, 09:17 AM
Soaf projects a thought to Syra that gives the impression of a smile, but outwardly he keeps a look of curiousity on his face about what Syra is up to.

Hadto seems skeptical and looks to Soaf to see if his face tells that this is a ruse. After a moment, the toad looks back at Syra. "Bah alright who'll 'ave me kill?"

Septimus: Lulpa sighs and hangs his head, seeming to accept his fate. He raises his head to reveal a smile and suddenly the sphere is dark, very dark. When Istar rids himself of the darkness, Lulpa is nowhere to be seen.
Lord_Gareth

05-13-07, 09:26 AM
"Another one of your former inmates, my amphibious friend. A lizardman named Fved who's got this whole thing with racial genocide, very nasty piece of work. I figure that you look inconspicuous - you can get in, kill him, and get out, and we'll call it a day. There's a portal nearby that will take us to Makal, who can send you to Fved if you're still interested. 'Course, you could always say no and have us cut ya up a bit."

Soaf can feel that Syra doesn't mean it, but she does a great job of looking deadly serious as she contemplates Hadto.
Sorcen_Anenooata

05-13-07, 09:33 AM
The toad thinks and does a motion very similar to shrugging, although it seems quite awkward for a toad to do such a thing. "Alright I s'pose I accept yer offer." There is a hint of something in his voice but you cannot seem to place it, perhaps fear, perhaps uncertainty, anxiety maybe.
Lord_Gareth

05-13-07, 09:45 AM
"Then this way, please."

One of the wraith-like tatters forms into a smooth, small disk and slides under Hadto, floating him into the air. Two more provide the same service for Syra and Soaf, and the three float out of the portal.
SeptimusMagistos

05-13-07, 12:22 PM
"Okay. That was really annoying."

For lack o fbetter things to do at the moment, Istar flew over to the drider cave and began to atomize the driders therein.
Sorcen_Anenooata

05-14-07, 03:29 PM
Septimus: The driders scatter as some of their kin are vaporized right before their eyes. Lulpa steps out of the shadows and a burst of cold air springs forth from his hands, aimed to strike Istar in the back.

Gareth: Hadto goes along quietly and the trio (with the wraiths) emerge on Makal's side of the portal. The spellweaver and the wolf are there with confused looks as a fat toad accompanies Syra and Soaf from the portal on strange flying black discs. "Back already Syra."
SeptimusMagistos

05-14-07, 05:22 PM
The cold air does nothing to Istar. He turns around.

"Okay, I don't really have time for transportation anymore. I'm behind schedule, so I'm just going to kill you and hope that you end up in an appropriate place."

Istar lifts his hat slightly, unleashing the violent burst of heat and radiation again.
Lord_Gareth

05-14-07, 06:30 PM
The three are gently lowered to the ground and the wraithlike tatters convert to normal shadow that wraps around the elf in a protective cover, leaving only her icy blue eyes and already night-black hair exposed.

"Yep. This is Hadto - he'll be dealing with our lizard problem. In exchange, he has his freedom inside the swamp where we found him. That sound good to you, Makal?"
Sorcen_Anenooata

05-15-07, 12:48 PM
Septimus: The extreme heat and radiation splash against Lulpa. He makes no attempt to shield himself and only smiles as bits of his flesh are burned off. Amazingly he is still standing there after a few moments of the exposure, his flesh is bubbled and burned but he seems fine and his wounds seem to be healing. "Remember when I said that Lolth could not kill me, it wasnt for lack of trying."

He cackles with a hint at insanity and a blade appears in his outstretched arm. The blade radiates an aura of frost and cold as he swings it at Istar.

Gareth: Makal looks over his list, "Sounds fine to me, now where is Fved...Ah there he is. Alright enjoy yourself Hadto, report back to me when you've slain him and I'll send you home." Makal waves his lowest rigth hand and a portal opens up.

Hadto croaks and holds in the air. He slowly lifts off the ground and is now floating almost a foot above the ground. He moves his limbs as if he were swimming and propels himself forward and into the portal. He seems to grin as he enters but it is hard to tell.
SeptimusMagistos

05-16-07, 05:21 PM
The blade bounces off Istar's clothes, designed to be impervious from inside or outside. They need to contain the fire of a star after all.

"We seem to have reached an impasse. You can't hurt me. If you did, there would be a full-scale supernova going here. I'm having trouble stopping you. It's a difficult situation."
SeptimusMagistos

05-20-07, 12:31 PM
Istar thinks for a minute. Then he comes up with something.

"Wait a minute. Could I... And why not? No one has tried it, have they? How do I know it's not possible then? I'll do it!"

Istar extends his arms and thinks a thought unknown before. Suddenly, gravity goes up many times, pouring down on Lulpa and making his body weigh many tons.

OOC: See what you made me do?
Sorcen_Anenooata

05-21-07, 05:11 PM
OOC: Sorry for my absence from this thread as well.

IC: Lulpa is slowly crushed by the ever-heavier gravity that Istar unleashes. His guts seep through his pores with a sickening gurgle. He smiles as his insides splatter onto the floor forcefully from the increased gravity. His voice carries, more deeply than before, "Ah a good move...." His voice trails off as he becomes a broken sac of flesh and bones laying in a puddle of gore and bile and other bodily fluids.
SeptimusMagistos

05-21-07, 05:38 PM
"Wow. I just made a discovery of a great magnitude. I can get the black marks off my record for this. I'm the greatest!"

Istar jumps for joy. Of course, with the increased gravity, this causes the ceiling to fall, due to its already weighing thousands of tons. About five minutes later, Istar climbs out, covered with rock dust. He then teleports back.

OOC: Sorry if the rock part was presumptious. Couldn't resist.
Sorcen_Anenooata

05-22-07, 03:37 PM
Istar teleports back to Makal, presumably. The spellweaver smiles and puts his finger to Lulpa's name, "Is it a safe bet that I should mark Lulpa's name off of here?"
SeptimusMagistos

05-22-07, 05:31 PM

Makal makes the adjustments to his list. The spellweaver notices a tiny black widow spider crawling away from Istar, but merely glances at it and pauses his writing momentarily. He shrugs this sight off and finishes marking the name off his list.

1. Lofku, half solar-human warlock, betrayed his now-dead god to the god's rival.
2. Sh'Jusfak, Shapeshifter with death touch (Currently sent to kill Lofku)

A burst of flame covered lightning violently bursts forth from the blue portal that Sh'Jusfak entered into. A tall, blonde human dressed in white greek-style robes floats calmly through the portal with his back protruding through first. He floats upwards and eyes the beings gathered below him as he continues to face the portal. He stops in mid-air so abruptly that his long blonde hair swings in front of his face. He calmly pushes the hair back and watches and waits as a tyrannosaurus squeezes through the portal and swings its massive green head back and forth, snorting and searching for its prey. Its eyes narrow as it slowly lift its gaze to where the blonde man floats above. To the surprise of the adventurers the tyrannosaur's lips curl as he speaks one word in a deep growling voice, "Lofku!"

The blonde man, now identified as Lofku, smiles as a hissing ball of acid and flame appears in his free hand. In his other hand, he wields a serrated longsword decorated with red jewels.

A lizardman, with a golden crown atop his head, a flowing purple cape around his neck, and a belt with multiple daggers and a rapier attached to it, carrying an obese toad sneaks out of the same portal as Lofku and the T-rex came from. The duo of reptile and amphibian slowly make their way behind the portals and sneak their way through the woods until they are behindthe group of adventurers.

Istar notices Makal's gaze and traces it. He then flies up into the sky and engulfs himself in a sphre of absolute heat. After several secods, he uses that heat to incinerate the general viscinity (As in hundreds of feet) of the spider.

"Better safe than sorry!"

"Hello gentlemen."

Syra is smiling now, a broad, unfriendly grin as she pets Faos.

"Well, my shapeshifting friend, you couldn't even get the job done right. I'm afraid things are about to get very dark for you now. Lofku, my name is Syra Kavon. When you go back to hell, remember it. Faos, ATTACK!"

The wolf leaps for the fallen solar, flame surging from his coat as the wraithlike tatters of shadow at Syra's command wrap around the shapeshifter, binding Sh'Jusfak tightly.

Hadto hears her voice in his head, serious as death.

Not another step. I've been reading souls since I got back here. I know where you are. Continue to betray me, and I might just kill you. Hold still, and I might be willing to give you your freedom. Understand?

The ball of scorching heat blasts the spider and causes it to curl its leg close to its body in a burned seemingly empty shell. As the heat moves off it though, the spider regains its natural form quite quickly and grows exponentially until it has taken the form of Lulpa once again. He smiles at Istar and finishes his sentence from before, "...But not good enough."

Faos leaps high into the air but Lofku turns the ball of energy on him and blasts him with a burst of acid and flame that was originally meant for the shapeshifter.

As the shadows grab for the tyrannosaur, his size diminishes and his form is now a tiny adamantine fly that barely escapes the clutches of the shadows that reach for it.

Hadto and Fved freeze in place and listen to Syra's threats only momentarily. Hadto half leaps, and is half thrown by Fved, in one direction as the lizard-man runs in the other. Makal turns quickly with white-blue lightning arcing from his middle arms. The blue electrical bolts fly forth through the air with a sizzle and strike the lizard-man in his right leg. Fved falls and slides face first into the dirt. Hadto meanwhile leaps towards the unsuspecting Soaf, tongue beginning to protrude from his maw, the betrayer toad's poisonous tongue is aimed to strike the half-elf in his neck, delivering a fatal poison.

"Okay. It's time for the unpleasantness to begin."

Istar glides down to Lulpa at the speed of light. He grabs two of Lulpa's legs and grips them with the mass of a planet or two each. He then pulls his hands apart, trying to rip Lulpa's appendages out.

"Fine then, if you want to play THAT WAY, THEN I'LL PLAY ROUGH!"

Syra's voice echoes with power and a very, very sickening sensation rips throughout the clearing - the sensation of every last scrap of evil, every last bit of darkness from withing the tiniest cracks, being ripped from existence, torn from reality around her. The air turns blacker than black, a darkness so absolute that it drowns out the light and devours the senses.

And from within this darkness, blades.

Fved, Hadto, the shapeshifter and the fallen solar all feel it as the darkness manifests blades of hate and anger, shredding silently towards them, through them, draining the light from their souls and the warmth from their bodies.

"I WARNED YOU," the elf yells furiously into the darkness, "Now you're going to SUFFER!"

SOMEBODY made her angry...

As Lulpa's legs are torn from his body he only smiles more broadly. When he speaks this time his voice is mocking and insane with the pain, "What part of invincible dont you understand." The limbs regrow and he lashes out with four limbs to strike at Istar.

Fved and Hadto are utterly destroyed by these blades of darkness and hate. The frog and lizard are shredded and flayed into innumerable pieces of flesh and boneshards. Sh'Jusfak and Lofku, however, are bathed in light. The half-solar utilizes his angelic blood's affinity for the light. Light pours from his every pore as he fights against the darkness, the light causes the blades to dissipate in the immediate aura vacinity of Lofku. Sh'jusfuk, on the other hand, takes the form of a star, almost an exact copy of Istar, likely due to the fact that this is the only star he has met. His aura of light pushes back the blades with many times the effectiveness of Lofku's radiant aura. The shapeshifter hurls a blazing ball of light at Syra with a strangled sounding cackle.

Makal's eyes light up a deep blue as the darkness encompasses him. He flicks his finger at the still intact tip of Hadto's tongue that is heading towards Soaf's neck, a drop of blood is flung from his fingertip and intercepts the poisonous tongue tip. The blood seems like acid as it eats away the remnants of the tongue and only the blood of the spellweaver splashes harmlessly against Soaf's neck. The half-elf comes to his sense when this happens and he draws his dagger.

OOC: Sorry if these guys are hard to fight against but thats the point for these last guys on this list. You guys are very challenging to DM for, good job.

"OKAY, THAT'S IT! WHEN I KILL YOU, YOU STAY DEAD!"

Istar pushes Lulpa's severed limbs past the scarf and scarfs them down. He then gets a hold on Lulpa and pulls him upwards and then towards Istar's head, and as the scarf goes slightly askew, the heat of a star is attempting to convert him to plasma even as gravity like nothing on any planet is pulling him in.

OOC: Istar really doesn't like people who don't stay down.

Lulpa does not smile this time. He is sucked into Istar's burning core with a scream and a curse laid upon Lolth with his last breath.

Makal comments on this death, "Apparently my friend Istar is too stubborn to understand invincible, good riddence spidey."

The ball of light streaking for Syra never did and never would find its mark. The elf melded into the shadows around her, stepping out to hurl one of her daggers at the shapeshifter with speed and precision born of fury.

"Not this time. Your pathetic little candle flames won't hold me back this time."

Dark tendrils reach into the light, and instead of snuffing out, they get darker and darker as they streak for the shapeshifter and the fallen solar - like Konvinax would.

"You. Hurt. My. Dog. Die."

The darkness engulfs the fake star and the solar, crushing them tight and sending chilling, utter cold - hatred in its purest form.

If this kills them, it'll be quite gory. Being crushed to death by telekinetic force generally is. It'll look like a Caben killing.

Lofku and Sh'Jusfak are utterly trapped by Syra's outburst of crushing darkness. The shapeshifter begins to comment on something but is crushed in a bloody mesh by the darkness. What would have been his last cry was forced and strangled and unintelligible. The solar holds out a little longer then the shapeshifter and his perfect form is covered in the blood and gore of his fellow prisoner. He strains against the darkness but is crushed by the dark forces as soon as he lets up.

As Syra lets her spell dissipate, the rain comes, the blood and gore from the two dead prisoners were crushed into a fine mist and rain back down upon the adventurers. The mist is made up of everything from he beings, skin, hair, organs, everything and the winds and air pressure created by the sudden pressure and removal of the pressure. Makal's already blood red robes seem to eagerly absorb the bodily fluids that rain from the scene above and the spellweaver stays dry somehow.

"Well, that was rather annoying. But, on the positive side, we're done with it."
Lord_Gareth

The elf is soaked in blood, her face red with it and her hair dripping with the fluid. With a snap of anger, the shadow runs into Faos, healing the wolf's wound before reatreating. She lets it slip back into natural positions before looking back at Makal.

"It's done with," she snaps, "Now let's collect the green's horde and be done with it. I'm getting tired of this butchery."
Sorcen_Anenooata

Makal nods and seems tired as well. He makes his way to the portal when Soaf decides to step forward, "I can haul the hoard while you guys wait, if you'd like me too."

Makal is now at the portal and pokes hi head through, "First things first, lets move this portal closer." He grabs the edges of the portal with all six of his hands and each of them glow. He seems to be steering the portal around trees and things but the portal doesnt move on this side. Finally he seems satisfied and lets it go and pulls his head back out. When his head reappears on the adventurer's side, he plucks a leaf from the top of his head and tosses it back into the portal.

Syra steps through the portal, angry and not bothering to waste time. The darkness in the cave gathers around the treasure and sends it whizzing through the portal at less than polite speeds before the elf steps back through.

Makal and Soaf look at each other and duck and make to the sides of the portal to use as cover. Both have seen angry women and now what to do when objects begin to fly.

The two then look at each other and begin to bag the treasure when Syra comes back through. When the finish Makal poses a question, "So back to our celestial friends?"

06-14-07, 01:17 PM
"Yeah, fine, whatever. C'mon, Faos."

The shadowless wolf comes to his mistress's side slowly, sensing her anger, and she idly scratches him behind the ear.

"Let's go."

Makal waves his upper right hand as though he is seeking some sort of energy, his hand seems to drag in one area and then he returns it to that area then points and walks to that spot. He reaches out and taps the air to reveal a blue swirling portal. "Ah here we go. Now to Bytopia to see our friend Eric."

He turns back to the rest of the group before stepping into the portal. The world of Jujitar fades away into the dual celestial realm of Bytopia. The spellweaver, and the others when they come through, appear in the merchant tent they were previously in, catching Eric the hound-archon by surprise. "Ah hello there my bounty hunter friends. How fruitful was your journey."

Eric smiles and addresses them all at once, "Thank you very much for your help. The prison is restored so you no longer need to trap the beings in that cube, only to cast a banishing spell or open a portal and get them through it. That is if you'd still like to help, you may take a break if you'd like and of course I can heal you and refresh your weariness if you like.

Thank you on behalf of all civilization for your help. My archangel friends have taken the list of Titans and captured most of them so far. We still have the father of the hydras and a few other major prisoners at large but it shoudlnt be too long before we recapture all of the escapees."

Makal crosses his lower arms and rests his chin in his left highest hand, while using his free high hand to accentuate him as he speaks and the middle arms rest calmly at his side, "Hmm, well the way I see it we have a few choices, go after that dark dragon in Gehenna, wasnt it, or go after the Hydra king, or we can head on some other random quest."
