This is just something a friend and I tryed out while he DMed. There were no dice invloved, and the actions would go faster to get the story along. Example: I slash at my opponents neck with a sword. He dogdes and returns a thrust at you with his dagger. It would really just depend on the DM. It goes alot faster, trust me. I just wanted to know what everyone thought of this and if they could give thier opinions.

The world started with everyone being born through magic. Eventually, some people started using technological advances to explore a different style oof advancment. When they had offspring and such, they would be too obsseded with scentific actions that the child would learn nearly nothing of their magic heritage and only knowlege of technology. And thier offspring even more so. Thus, they soon forgot about thier magic heritage and begian the age of innovation through science. But this was not for everyone, in fact most of the world kept thier magical past and passed it down. The seperation of society: Technology/Magic

Luck: Magic beings have the exsistence of luck as do many DnD games, but if there were a technology among them with let's say an eye peice caculating movements, Luck can not out due Logic, and Luck is deafeted to have what ever event it would portray in a more realalistc setting.
Also if you had lost an eye and a scentist gave you a robitc one, and let's say somone tryed to cast an illusion on you, your naked eye would be fooled but the other would see things for what it is.

Magic as a whole: When born, you have something called a "Charter Mark", this is passed down through genetics. If your father was a fire user, you had the Charter Mark enbeded on your forhead (No visiable to the naked eye) as your heritage. So if you have a mother who was a Vampire let's say, and your father who is a fire user, you have 2 Charter Marks of Vampire and Fire overlapping each other. Their society consist of arenas, stone housing, castles, palaces (The type of style FR or DL has you could say).

Technology as a whole: They have advanced to the point of possesing the things you read of in science fiction novels: Halo/Mech Warrior/War hammer 40k and nearly any other furtureristic novel or movie you've read or seen. Yes they do have "robots", but at the moment they are only a support for technologist (Cleaning streets,Driving Metro Busses,Assembly lines for mass producing items, and later on even used for battle). There are currently 2 factions through technology that later in the story have a inner war within it self: The Alliance(More of the democracy sort as in America)/The Erusions (More of the communist sort as in Russian)

Classes of magic and capiblities:
NecroMancer- If a NecroMancer were to want to know the wearabouts of somone or even speak with the dead: Their Soul Exsist the body with time freezing itself in the real world, where as of thier soul would be in a dreamlike world wandering with thier spirit in the watergate world. Watergate: When etnering this world, as a time based limit, the necromancer is surrounded with a ethreal buble containing water that starts near your feet slowly rising above your head in a certain amount of time. If it rises fully above your head and you are still in it, it drows you of course and you die. Some necromancers create SoulReapers to live in this world eternally and any living being attacked by them and defeated collects thier soul and returns it to thier master. (They do not have a watergate because they are not living or dead). Obtaining a entire soul is very hard to do though, and often only obtaining Fragment peices of a soul. When a necromancer does summoning, it requires a soul let's say to raiser a skeletal corpse, they can use thier own soul, but if you have these nifty Shards of Souls, you can use this instead. When raising a certain amount of undead, it takes a large amount of will and concentration to control them without them rebelling. Often when they necromancer sleeps, it is very nightmareish having undead under your control. "Don't loose control" in a terrfying voice and often times dreams of the skeletals souls past life. Necromancy started as a failed ressurection.

Alchemist: This can be learned and not passed down as a genetic. They are able to create items temporarlly. Example: A door let's say, now if you were a Demonologist, you could create a portal through that door and exit on the other side of the world (door needed for entrance of it of course). Another example would be to get let's say a metalic outline of wires of a bird shaped body, you could use Alchemy to create that bird into a being temporarlly and spie on others and what not, you see everything your creation does.

Undead: If thier "master" were to die, they would thus be there own entity,( a full undead of course looking just as it's body had, which is harder to raise then a skeletan). In order to survive, unlike a vampire needing blood, the undead eats flesh of a living person. Now when this happens, they often get the memories of the person they consumed and start to belive in muiltiple lifes. A very tormenting exsistence.

Ressurecting: There are God's in this RPG, and if someone has the ability to change the world on a dramtic scale and died, the ressurected, they have "ressurection sicknees". Within days thier body starts slowly fadeing a ethral form and until none-exsitent.

Scrolls: Often times, powerful beings would leave behind thier legacy. Let's say someone was adapt at healing, they might impart the spell into a scroll for others to use that do not have the efficentcy to use that spell. So if you were over a dead body, and used a scroll reading it through, it the scroll was made from a powerful user capable of this, then the being would be ressurected. The same goes for fireball spells, and even sometimes scrolls that can summon a God for a short amount of time to aid you.

Elementals: These are rare and hard to come by. Few among many have the Charter Mark to use any abillity of Element: Fire/Water/Earth and so on.

Mind controlling through Technology: Since the DM of this wanted to have a even setting for magic through technology, he implimented "Nano Machines". Often times if a magic being was captured and saw as resoruceful, the technologist scentist would implant nanos inside the forehead controlling them through computer listed commands and such.

Some stories through the RPG as diffent charcters I have played through:

Daemon: His father would outseek the best of woman who strived in thier class. Let's say there was a strong demon woman, he would bed that women, she would have a child, then he would use a spell of asorbation and take her soul. (Now he would have her powers, and a demon son with the charter mark of his mother) This was done with 4 different characters.
Alter: Born from a Farie mother that had a strong list of healing and other light spells.
Vulcan: Born of a demon mother that was adapt at demonolgy.
Nerva: Born of a kitsune mother decent from Inari(the demon fox God).
Daemon: Born of a vampire mother that was also a necromancer
All abosrbed and had a son. This would be over course from decades apart with each son born, and eventually all of them roaming about the world when grown up at the same time. His ideals were: Women were weak, and if a male did what they did, he would do it better, thus the sons.

Technology- Nightshade: See this person when he is grown up similar as Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. He has shadow charter mark from his mother, but when she died when he was young by another magic, he hated it. So he embraced technology. When his father needed to use fire magic, he hated it so much, that he would often trick his mind in a mental state of seeing his father using a rocket laucher or flamethrower in places instead of a fireball. He had forgot his backround. Now, when he was older raised as a technolgy, he would use stealth equipment he had as a watch to go invisable (sort of like pretator). The watch was broken and he was using his shadow magic to go invisable but in his mind, when he looked at the watch, it showed it was in perfect condition and he reasoned that was why he could do such things, his mind exradrated the truth in what he thought he saw to avoid misery.

Items magic: Bells- These often used by necro mancers had tunes. When you started to ring the bell, you heard a faint singing sound, depending on the bells ability, it could mind control somone, make them tired, or even kill them. Often to avoid this, they would use alchemy to aquire a potion to make themselves temporarlly deaf. So they would not hear the tune.

There is much more to this world, but I was just giving an intro and wanted to know your opinions on this.

Communists? Very Cold War... otherwise, pretty much what I said on the other thread, except to add that I'm wondering exactly how it is that a vampire, presumably undead, could possibly have a child...

Um? Dracula had a son named Alucard....yes vampires can have children...don't base everything you know from FR rules...those are made up as well. There are many stoires I could PM you that have Vampires having children from best selling novels.

On a different note: I should have known, if it's not what other people do, it sucks. Close minded people....if it's not the FR game...why care?

If it's not an FR game, then why start a topic about it in an FR forum?

I have no problem with you doing it Warning, if you enjoy it, go for it, but it certainly isn't to my taste as far as stories go. The vampire thing you are correct about, quite a bit of literature does that, but silly me, this being a d20 board, was kinda approaching it from that perspective. Sure you said it was a homebrew, but I was taking for granted that you were basing it off of a d20 ruleset at least. Might want to clarify that isn't necessarily the case. ;)
