The 6th Edition Gamma World Campaign Setting by Sword & Sorcery is precluded by the final wars, I intend to use MCWoD as the final wars and merge the two settings retaining the bulk of the mechanics from MCWoD although they sure seem pretty compatible so cherry picking shouldn't be much of a problem. I think mutations explained from the Nightmare Wave's in the annihilation zones (there will be multiple at the conclusion of the final wars) is perfect and the Knights of Genetic Purity will give my PC's another faction to contend with. |

I would also restrict the number of monsters from MC WoD you use. I would probably choose one or two of them, and maybe consider not using Mages are having them grouped with the Awakened. I think (and I can't stress that word enough) that Gamma World is basically a "if the world shut down and chaos ruled (at least for a bit) this is the landscape that is left behind." So I would change Gamma World, get rid of the mutants (the new races in MCWoD would work), the robots, and what not. I would also have the initial monster populations be somewhat numerous. Something like 7 to 15% sounds good. Especially if you change how vampirism is passed, as vampirism is a fast way to cause global collapse. But you need a role for pretty much all the monsters. Vampires have the easy one of being destroyers and consumers. And I am sure a substantial proportion of the new vampires will be overwhelmed by their new hunger and what kind of psychological damage that would easily lead to. Demons could work as avengers that seek to reconcile the emotions that caused them to form. Perhaps part of the imprint of all the victims of a serial killer caused a demon to form that ruthlessly seeks to eliminate all that would violate others (even non-violent offenders, as a burglar robbing someone can seriously damage the victims feeling of safety). Hell, I can see vampire actions causing demons to be created. Werewolves are a lot like the people that were before, only now when they get angry, they change into monsters that can rip through steel and concrete like paper. Some will go wild, others might keep control. Still others might research their "heritage" in the legends of old and literature of new. They may take parts of it as gospel. Such as werewolves being the mortal enemies of vampires. The Awakened and Mages. I would put these two together because they both appear human. And with a large part of the world going mad, sides will form. Appearances are everything. These individuals serve to buffer the rest of humanity from the horrors that have snuck up on the world. In fact, I can easily see these two also working with the werewolves (after the rapid ones are taken care of). My view of how the modern world ended is as follows: Creatures thought to be legend awoke or were born. Demons, vampires, and werewolves are roaming the world. Some step forward to challenge the rising tide of monsters. Things were manageable at first. Demons were relatively rare at first, but with the perpetual violence, it is only a matter of time before they become a problem too. If the vampires continue their trend, they will reach unsustainable levels in a matter of months. Or something like that. |

I will also emphasize on the Post Apocalyptic elements of the game for my up coming MCWoD campaign. I'll set it in the Annihilation Zone, which is mostly destroyed. The core cast will consist of Awakened and Monsters. I like the potential that relatively small territory offers for adventure and stories. Keep us (or me) informed of your game. P.S. Do you know of any active MCWoD community out there? |
