<><><><> his is a story for all, at the end of your post, leave it open for the next character to post what they are up to. Basically were attacking a fort trying to get some artefact inside, this is not a big battle, we dont have strengh or numbers on our side. Its has to be clever. Dont post anything less that a decent paragraph <><><><><>

Abaddon crept up to the orkish guards, as he approached a flock of grouse burst from the hedgerow losing him the element of surprise. Because of this, he unsheathed his sword and charged, yellnig at the top of his voice...

"YARGHH!!!!!!"

Crashing the sword into the guards shield, the trusted and parried. Both were excelent fighters, neither having and edge over each other.

Abaddon was running out of time, he couldnt possibly allow the alarm to be raised. If it were, there was no chance he would get in and make the grab......

<><><><> i .e. meanwhile, your apraching with a bow in another direction <><><><>

Garrin was standing atop a rock out-cropping watching the man trying to creep into the fortress. For his vantage point, he could also tell that the man was not having much success. As the man and orc began to battle, Garrin reached into his quiver and pulled a black-shafted arrow with black feathers at its end and an obisidian looking, jagged arrow head. He fitted the notch into Soul Scraper's fine string and set his sights on the fight. Peering down the shaft, Garrin lined the arrow up to strike at the orc's left thigh, which was the only part of the body he could get a clear shot at. He took a deep breathe to steady himself, closed his eyes, and let the arrow go.

A black trail of magical energy followed in the arrows flight, and it struck true to it's mark, slicing through muscle and bone as it struck through the orc's leg, and even coming out a good five inches on the other side. Garrin's beautiful shot could not be celebrated, however, because two orcs had seen the elf standing tall ontop the rocks, and crept around and behind the black-cloaked figure. His keen hearing told him of their approach long before they came near, but he decided to let the orcs have their belief of surprise. The elf layed the bow down on the rock in front of him, slowly as if nothing was amiss, and the very commonly put his hands onto his twin blades hilts. A grunt and a yell from behind told him it was time, and with a metallic ring that filled the morning air, Garrin drew Fiery Breath and Drip, his twin rapiers.
A high, overhead chop from the left orcs axe was swatted away as Garrin began drawing into himself, ever farther, to bring forth the skill needed to handle these enemies. They were not bad fighters, but for Garrin, they were kids with sticks. Drip slapped against the flap of the right orcs longsword, but the surprising strength of the orc (considering this was a small orc) knocked Drip off it's intended parry, bringing the blade lower than it should have been, but Garrin was a comprimisable sort of guy, so instead of digging into the orc's side, between ribs, he instead flicked his wrist straight ahead, stabbing into the orcs groing. Drip began to glow a faint green, and seemingly acidic bubbles frothed from the wound, visible because the orc worth nothing more than loincloth. Pleased that this orc was dead, Garrin turned his attention to the huge orc with the two handed axe, the axe that would be it's demise.
Ring after ring sounded from the collision of blade on axe as Garrin slapped the blades against the head, one after the other, so fast that the sound seemed a constant hum. Over and over, each time the orc would try and parry, the axe met four hits before it could move an inch. Growing tired of the embarrasment, the orc switched tactics, bringing the axe low, then, with admirable speed flipping its direction in mid-swing to bring the blade high into Garrins side.
Not quick enough.
Garrin jumped high, landing behind the too-low axe, and rolled in behind the axe, coming up to the side of the orc, with the blunt end of the two handed weapon beside him. With the weight of the swing and the time it would have taken for the orc to flip the axe over to it's bladed side, and bring it in line with the elf, Garrin would have had a hundred minor wounds inflicted on the creature. But Garrin was also growing weary of this game, with a flick of both his wrists, he brought Drip and Fiery Breath up, stopping Fiery Breath short, knowing a block from the orc's free arm was sure to come, and instead sliced a clean, thin line with Drip across the orc's throat, acid and blood mixing together in a sickening gurgle.
Garrin retrieved his bow, set it on his shoulder, and stood again looking at the man so daring to invade the fort, the same plan he had been conjuring. Something to the left grabbed his attention as twenty orcs, fully armored and armed came rushing out of the forts walls. How did they know a fight was taking place? No screams were echoed into the wind, no last cries for help. Did these orcs house something more? Did they have wizards?

((Umm... Sorry to interrupt guys, but this is kinda in the wrong forum. We have a whole section dedicated to multiplayer written/boards roleplaying, which I really feel that this is. After all, one person has set the scene and everyone's character comes in... ;) And as the Rules of the Road for Once Upon a Time (http://boards1.wizards.com/announcement.php?s=&forumid=344) say,
For IC collaborative efforts, please use the Map of the Planes board.

So I'll just move it across, leaving a marker here for people to follow. :)

If you really feel that it should be part of the storywriting board rather than the interactive playing one, drop me a PM or email and I'll reconsider. I can always move it back if you point out something I failed to notice, ie I'm wrong.

Since nobody is posting stuff, I'll post again.

Watching from a small bush, well, small for humans, were three halflings. Jimble, a short-for-a-halfling halfling, whose overall height measured below three feet, wore a simple brown tunic and hose, and knee high brown travelling boots. He carried two hand-crossbows, built for the size of the halfling, in each hand, a paralyzing magical bolt set in both and ready to fire. Ron and Don, the other two short-folk, were twins, each carrying a short-sword and a club, an interesting mix for the little fellows. When the squad of orcs rushed from the side exit of the structure, Jimble was fist to act. Leaping from the bush, he fired each crossbow, and each bolt found a head of a different orc. Ron and Don, followed suit, each leaping above the brush and rushing to meet the orcs. Five strides from the three orcs that broke off of the squad to meet the new attackers, Ron slid to his knees, and Don jumped atop his shoulders. When the orcs closed in, Don leaped from ihs kneeling brothers shoulders and closed the remaining distance to the first orc, slamming his club atop the slow reacting orcs head, then, before he hit the ground, jabbing his short-sword into the creatures belly. Another orc rushed to the fallen orc and engaged Don in melee, but Ron was quicker to act, jabbing his sword into the orc's left hamstring and his club into the back of his right knee. The orc cried out in pain, but the sound was cut short as Don sliced the orcs head off.
Now there was one orc.
And then it fell too. Two bolts sticking from the back of its neck, where the spine connected to the skull. Throwing their fists into the air in victory, Ron-Don, the duo of Battle-Lings, a new way of fighting made up by the twin brothers, rushed to attack the back of the now smaller squad. Jimble, always feeling left out behind the two, began re-loading his small crossbows, yelling at the two to wait.

Hmmm, I thought this would be a fun thing to do for many people, but I guess not, Oh well, hope you don't mind slozenger but I am kind of taking over your thread until someone else posts lol, anyways......heres another addition.

Garrin noticed the whole battle between the strange trio and the orcs, and with a slight grin-him knowing that fighting was going to be plenty, wich was what he had hoped all along- Garrin jumped from the rock out-cropping and landed twenty yards from the charging orc group, now only fourteen or so strong, and drew his bow off his shoulder, fitting two jet-black arrows into the drawstring, and taking up sights between the two shafts. He drew a deep breathe to steady himself then left fly, both arrows void-streaking across the empty space and thudding trough two seperate orc heads. The orcs fell dead on the spot, but it was not because the arrows had struck vital, it was the magic of the Soul Scraper, which had the ability, staying true to it's name, to suck the soul from the being it struck.
Garrin drew another arrow, fell another orc, then cheked his quiver.
Only five arrows left.....
The one bad thing was the almost impossible task to forge the Soul Scrapers arrows, and Garrin hated using the bow excessively. He threw the bow onto the soft ground, the drew his twin rapiers. The whole group, eleven left, chraged toward the lone elf, but barely five strides from the prone figure, the smaller bodies showed up, two coming out of nowhere, then, using each other as a means to propel, they started a quick ground roll, which tripped up many of the rushing orcs. The other small-folk shot his two crossbows, hitting an orc twice in the stomach, then threw it to the side and drew his small dirk and buckler. Garrin couldn't help but smile, the two halflings that rolled through the group of orcs had come up between them, four surrounding the seemingly weak foe, but they had no idea what a Battle-Ling was. Ron flipped to his hands, sticking his feet out for Don to grab, then Don began spinning, and once Ron got up off the ground he drew his sword, holding it out in front of his turned down head, and the two spun with tremendous speed. Garrin, amused beyond what he believed he could be, rushed to the remaining orcs, now only six strong, and slid to his knees right as the first orc chopped high with it's axe. Two quick thrusts to the side fell two orcs, Drip slipping into a rib cage and Fierybreathe into a stomach. Another axe swiped for the elvf's head, from behind, but Garrin's warrior instinct knew of it before it even came close, and he fell face first to the ground as the blade flew by, then pushing off with his fists bringing his body to his knees and blades out behind him, both impaled within the attacking orcs chest.
Three more....
Two orcs came at once, but both found nothing but air as Garrin side-stepped the obvious rush and came up on the side of the left orc, spearing the orc completely through from side-to-side, then bringing his other blade across the orc's neck, almost severing the orcs head off. The other orc was having second thoughts about this whole encounter, looking around to see the small duo of strange little-folk taking down his only other companion. It turned it's head to Garrin, and saw the sickening grin across the handsome elf's face. With a howl, the orc dropped it's weapon the ran off. Garrin allowed it ten steps, then flipped Drip in the air, catching it above his head, parallel to the ground, then throwing the blade. It streaked a silver line through the air and stabbed into the orcs neck, burring itself to the hilt, coming out full on the other side.
Garrin strode to the orc, now face down on the ground, the blade buried into the soft earth, and pulled his blade out, wipping it on his cloack and sheathing it.
"Now, who are those three," He asked himself openly, staring at the three halflings standing together, staring at him. And then he looked to the fort. " And how do we go about entering this place......

Good Knight

Charging along with great speed was Good Knight! So his reputation proclaimed to all far and wide. Up the hill along the crag was the sound of battle. The knight in shining armor, patted his trusted stead on her long main, and with a loud voice boldly yelled out.
“For God and Country!” With that valiant statement, Good Knight hurried along, galloping up the hill, until he came upon the bloodied Keep.
Seeing the half-lings surrounded by dead monsters, handsome knight halted in surprise.
“By all that is above the heavens, how did you kill these evil things?”

ooc I will check back in a few days to see what takes place if any.

"Greetings!" said Don.
"Yes 'ello!" said Ron.
"Why we slaughtered these ghastly thing's of course!" Don said, beaming with pride.
"Yes, yes, kill'tem and spilt'em blood we did! And a good thing o'course!" Ron, also smiling, stated as if that was all the explanation needed.
Jimble strolled to stand next to the duo, shaking his head.
"Please excuse my comrades, somtimes they can be too much to handle. I am Jimble, and these two," he said, pointing with a thumb." are Ron and Don, the amazing Battle-Lings. But enough with that subject, trust me, good knight, you would not wish to pursue their savage course."
"Savage we are not!" Don yelled.
"Warriors we are!" Ron also yelled.

Another figured appeared beside the three, seeming to slip into the scene from a shadow, no-one noticing him until he wished.
"Greetings," he said, his voice a low, but clear sound. "I am De'menthriose Del'avoi Delmarkione, but you may call me Garrin. Now, that the outside battle has been victorious, we shall see what will become of the true fight." He said, nodding towards the fort and the now open west gate.

Good Knight was not sure if he should laugh or run away.
For the sight of two battlelings was surprising ended.
Then a new voice spoke about the tower itself.
"Tell me brave and deadly fighters, what pray tell has made you want to go inside?"
