| Lord Tarran05-25-05, 05:52 PM | Well, after a long fight with myself, and a long discussion with a friend of mine, I've decided to bring back my original inn, the Safe Haven. However, it ended up dying into god moding and not working. So, now I ask you, my fellows, how are we going to work it this time. The inn originall prevented anything fighting within its wall, through powerful over god like magic. However, that may not work. So, open call to all. Let's figure this out for this to work. I want an inn on the surface. |
| god the giant05-25-05, 06:11 PM | well LT i think we should have all the players explain what ever character they want to bring in.this way you can determine who has a god moding and have them change it to be less of a god.this way everyone has the same power and no one can do anything that has unlimited power.just a thought so if you like the idea use it if not oh well.in advance i shall be joining this inn with a very good inn keeper. |
| Lord Tarran06-13-05, 06:58 PM | Any other takers? |
| Caitlin06-14-05, 11:48 AM | I'd like to join....my character would be Caitlin Malefant, a half-dragon from Krynn who's doing some planeswalking for the first time. (caitlin_anne for the folks who've seen me around in ISRP) The stats are up on my web site (http://www2.gvsu.edu/~klitzkee/rpg_center/characters/caitlinmalefant.htm). I know the level's high, but believe me, I've never played her as if her level's that high. She's a simple wizard and scribe building a new life away from home. |

Good Idea! I want to be the bartender who doesnt drink but encorages people to drink as much as possible. But more on the subject, if anyone tries to fight or tries to become a god you could always use the antimagic spell, or have npc bouncers that are gods! |
| Lord Tarran06-18-05, 01:16 AM | 1. I'll be bartender, sorry. 2. I would like to prevent such things from happening. That is kinda what made the last edition fail. |
| orcslayer06-18-05, 10:01 AM | well you could have the first post be a set of rules. fine Ill just be one of the regulars who comes every day. |
| ruthia06-18-05, 05:47 PM | Would you like a well set up Inn to compare it to and prehaps take ideas from Tarren? If so check out the Crossroads Tavern that the Wizo's have set up for the chat site. It's pretty basic, rules wise, but you could talor it to fit your needs. Or set stricter rules, like those in Agudo's school, with specific guidlines as to what you don't want to see in the Inn....... |
| Darshendros06-20-05, 09:47 PM | Fights will be inevitable, so you'll have to just think up something to PUNISH people who fight in your bar. Anti-magic fields won't work, due to the various creatures who take other forms for convenient purposes (like dragons *cough*). Then again, I'm sure there's a way to alter it so it would only null offensive spells. I've done a lot of tavern settings, so I have a lot of ideas. - A permanent contingency spell that targets anyone who draws out a weapon to be teleported into a swamp full of undead, hungry... swamp-things, without any weapons or equipment. - Tavern Defense System. Lockdown the building and turn on motion sensors. Automated weapons take out anything that moves. - Nudist policy. (That one never got past the first day without admins breathing down my neck >.>) - Make killing meaningless; anyone killed is automatically resurrected after a certain amount of time. - Make killing serious; anyone killed permanently loses the use of their character (unless ressurected?). Usually though, the more sadistic the consequences, the more likely it is for people to test it and break the no-fight rule, so nothing may work at all, short of complaining to a mod. Silly humans. |
| Rath'mak06-20-05, 10:08 PM | would a lord of planar dragons be welcome? i could surely help on any defences. of course, I do not know if that would constitute towards god-moding or not.. |
| ruthia06-20-05, 10:50 PM | would a lord of planar dragons be welcome? i could surely help on any defences. of course, I do not know if that would constitute towards god-moding or not..:P Can I answer this one? Please??? Well I am anyways! God-Moding is basically havin a character that knows it all, does it all, controls it all, and let's no one else have any say. These charas have a tendancy to be invinsible with no flaws and if a flaw is found it is turned around and ignored...... So just avoid that and you fine :) |
| Rath'mak06-20-05, 11:17 PM | ok. my character is going to be a young adult chaos dragon. oh and you do know white dragons are the shortest lived dragons, dont you ruthia? |

I am a Pern Dragon, a totally differnt breed. I life as long as my rider lives, and since no man Is my Master Then I guess I'll live a while won't I? |
