Figured now that the MotP gets somewhat revived, i might as well try DMing again... aspecially seeing as Myranthor isn't here {much less NME or any other Dyverside talents}, so i can't nag him to DM instead.

Well, you folks got to deside on the nature of this adventure.
Maybe later, either after this one is finished, or when i feel there's not much risk in starting a simultaneous one, we'll vote again, and i'll run another one, but for now - 8 out of 14 said we play this one:

Name: Two Worlds' Dance
Jenre: Fantasy
Chars: your good old D&D chars
Starting location: One party in Oiovoronda's hall near the ruins of the Elven Court, another at the Toprock Inn in Moslehyll, Chikriza.
Info: This is what "Sandstorm" was meant to be {thank you, Sneech, and all that rhimes with that!}. A hunt for a series of artifacts, individuals, and less defined things, all connected in some way, through Faerun, Dyverside, and the realms and portals connecting them. Since it's close in jenre and concept to Khaira's, i'll recooomend playing a different character in this one from the one you play at Khaira's.

Now, please skip to message #16 (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=8636024#post8636024) and follow the instructions.

Honestly? I'd pick #1 every time.
Drindin

02-28-06, 10:22 PM
My vote goes to Numero 2. I'd say it's time we mixed things up at the MoTP. I mean, the grognards club we have going on is great an all, but I think tossing in a new setting will be nice for once!

Quathmoir Dlaeh Issarhai It’s good to see you braving out into the cold cruel Realm of GMing
As hard as it maybe Im sure you will do a super job
Yet I must admit as bold as Drindin's hope of mixing the MOP place up with verity; Taeldrin Laesrash answer for 1 would ring true at any point in the history of MOP
Even at its mighty heights of play the MOP rarely if ever saw any SCFI games take off here...just a bunch of tree huging Elf lovers here :embarrass

I quite like 1or2 (yepp, if your Dming then I'm in!) :)
Taeldrin Laesrash

03-01-06, 06:22 PM
Hmph. I ain't no tree-hugger, Agudo. I could just as easily stand a sci-fi game, and in fact, #2 is also very appealing to me.
Khaira

03-01-06, 09:22 PM
Yes, Star Wars RPG all the way! Woo! Woo! Woo!
...okay, maybe not.

But, seriously, I'm for 1 or 2. Myself ... I think I'd tend to prefer #1.

And I will proudly say that many of my characters are tree hugging elves! Mmmmm ... sensual, strong, steadfast, tree, flowing with life and love.... mmmmm

And I will proudly say that many of my characters are tree hugging elves! Mmmmm ... sensual, strong, steadfast, tree, flowing with life and love.... mmmmm

Let me finish the sentence..mmmmm all slain in a orgi of bloodlust, crimson staining the base of trees, mother and child being gored together by dark cousins. Pure ecstacy, massacre, stolen life, All in the name of the Spider Queen!

Anyway I vote strongely for number 1! I don't know much about the future genre and Star Wars Rpg, but it could be something to explore I suppose.

Actually, the Star Wars thing was actually my post. And that was ACTUALLY intended as a joke. Star Wars is a pretty different universe to be playing in anyway.

I like 1.

I'm new here. How do I get involved?
Quathmoir Dlaeh Issarhai

03-07-06, 12:27 AM
Meanwhile, Nickbeat, you need only wait a little. Another vote to either #1 or #2 will get us started. Once we begin, i'll set the scene, and you {along with the others} will present your character. :=}
Naturally, this doesn't bar you from playing in any of the other active adventures at the same time.

Nickbeat: You just have to find a thread that's recruiting (At the moment, it's just this one), and ask nicely. These boards are RP-based, so simply a role-playing concept will do ('Course, it helps to know the general stats of your character, like his or her class).

And I vote for #1!
Quathmoir Dlaeh Issarhai

03-07-06, 10:35 AM
CLICK!
We got 8 votes on a Dance of Two Worlds. Ladies and gentlemen, you may present your characters. The IC thread will soon be set. The game's "mechanics" are the usual blend of freeform and D&D rules of all editions. No one should feel an obligation to concern themelves with stats and other official stuff, but for those who feel like it, here are the limits:

Character level: 6-18 {wekaer characters are likely to find things that will make them notbly more powerful, stronger ones are likely to suffer from conditions that restrict theyr power, but all not without reason}

Permitted classes: all 2e and 3e base classes, all monster classes, and any prestige classes you can provide a reference to {either from a rulebook or a link to something on the boards}. Mirrorwalkers and Soulwards are pk too. ;=} Psionicists are supposed to be rare, so no more than one psionic character in each team.

If you're not into stats and such at all - just make sure yours is a fantasy character, and we'll be fine.

Permitted races: Anything you can provide info on {preferably by referencing to a rulebook, but a writeup of your own is ok too}.

Anything about your character you would like to use, ir want me to know for any other reason, yet wouldn't want other players to be aware of, can be told me via PM.

And ofcourse, the Two Eternal Rules are that {1} making sence is mandatory, and {2} the DM is the highest authority. If you feel a mistake is made - post to the OOC thread {here} or to PM, and if it was indeed so, the post will be edited.

The ideal would be an equal amount of charactrs native to {or familiar with} the Realms and ones native to, or familiar with Dyverside. Since Dyvies are scarce, this is unattainable, so just make sure atleast half of you folks play FR chars.
Once everyone tell me whom they gonna play, i'll tell each of you how you ended up in your given locations, and we'll be able to begin. It's likely to take quite a while before the two groups will meet, so if any of you want to be in eachother's teams - let me know.

Aight, hit me!

I i´m new here and i am having trouble building my deck please responde.

Actually, your on the wrong forum, I'm sorry to say. That's all right; it's understandable how you could make a mistake.

The forum that I believe your looking for is Magic Cards (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=268) or Magic Online Cards (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=368)

This is actually the Map of the Planes (also known at MotP), the forum for freeform ISRP (Interactive Story Role Play). In other words, it is a forum for the playing and running of diceless D&D, not Magic: the Gathering (or whatever it's called these days).

Ahh come on!
Discrimination I say!
Can’t use a common Garden Gnome.... of all the anti progressive behavior!
All right you predictable D&D Rule Thumper
Ill give you what thy lustful bloodthirsty DMing heart wants :angelhide

BUT....I will put it in story form

Updated INFO
Appleblossom has one dark secret despite her happy go lucky ways
After a disturbing experience one day visiting a friends garden a fellow Gnome named Keebler
She found a ransom note demanding a large some of coin and his secret recipe or else!

A few days latter a picture drawing arrived of her poor friend Keebler
He was shown in several far off lands wearing odd outfits holding a sign saying everything is ok....as long as they get the recipe

A note came a week latter demanding that she meet the kidnappers at dawn tomorrow in the garden

Springtime couldn’t take it anymore she had to do something to save her friend
With great furies she grabbed the last bag of Keebler Cookies in the house and stormed outside
Vowing to bring justice for all Gnomes

At first she thought about going to the Red Wizard but they can be such hot heads
The Fighter guild seem to be full of barbarians all crushing kegs of ale against there heads bragging how strong they are and how they should run for Governor

It was clear then she was on her own the little Gnome wanderd about for an hour until she sat down in front of an herbalist store sad and alone
Seeing the wee Gnome crying an old Halfling woman came out asking what could make such a cute Gnome cry
After telling her sad tale the shop owner invited her in
An hour latter Appleblossom opened the door singing and dancing for joy
The old Halfling woman called out reminding Springtime to keep what she taught her a secret

The next day springtime waited at the Garden smiling from ear to ear as she handed the secrete recipe over to the Tall folks
Two humans and a Halforg each got one of the three recopies
They of course took it without fear and read it...for who would be afraid of a cute Gnome?
The Halforg became angry when the entire note said was
You’re dead!

But by then it was to late all three lay on the ground poisoned with the not so simple ink on the recipe
Keebler and Springtime dip them in mud and baked them
And now they have a garden full of Humans and Halforgs in cute poses

That’s right!
Appleblossom is an Assassin LV 6 specializing in poisons
Don’t make her mad!
Or she may prick you with a sowing needle that gives you a nasty rash on parts of our body we can’t talk about here
Or perhaps she will yarn your socks and put itchy powder in it
No one ever suspects the sweet :cheer: Garden Gnome :cheer:
Buahhahahah :evillaugh

Debbie - how about 'em stats?
Ruthia, Piper - chose your chars yet?
Nickbeat - how about you, have you desided on a character you'd like to play?

Hey... WAIT A BLOODY MINUTE!
I just realized that Taeldrin has voted twice for the chosen option. That means we're a player short, mreh. >_<

Drindin, i know that's not the option you voted for, but maybe you'd like to play anyway? If you join in, that would return our number to 8, and we'll be able to start, soon as everyone submits theyr chars.

What? Ruthia, when did i yell at you, or argue with you? I seriously don't understand what caused this reply for you. Are you saying you're not gonna parttake in this thread? If so, i'd like to understand why.
At any rate, i hope you'll stay. Lemme ensure you, that no yelling or arguing will be allowed inside this thread; issues are to be resolved through the DM, and i have no tendency to yell. Atleast not on the boards. I think. :=S

Well, here's my character. He's not totally new, but his thread is completely dead.

Cronir Veldspar
Race: Kobold
Class: Ranger 4/ Rogue 3/ Sorcerer 4
Skin: Grey
Eyes: Blue

Cronir grew up in a vast cityscape on a long-lost Material Plane world. He possess the stereotypical greed of a kobold, which led him to wander other planes. A bit more intellegent than others of his kind, he took on the cultures and styles of the many places he visited as he performed mercenary work.
Cronir is about 2'7". He wears loose brown clothing, leather padding, a red scarf of Suel weave (And is enchanted as well), and a various collection of amulet and charms on his clothes or neck. He wields a crossbow and keeps a dagger in the folds of his scarf. He is observant and often cynical, but can stay intensely focused on a task.

Ruthia, Piper, Nickbeat? Has any of you desided on a char to play yet?
Drindin, will you be saving our asses?

Also, for Appleblossom and Cronir, i'd like an allignment. You can PM me, if you'd rather not have your chars allignments be posted on the thread.

Aaaaand i suppose i'll be getting Laurie's stats at some point of this week.

Laurie

General Characteristics:
Gender: Female
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Wizard
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Appearance:
Age:30
Height: 5 foot
Skin Color: Pale
Hair: Long brown
Eyes Color: Blue

Background:
Laurie gazed out of the openwindow.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed" said Mo, slaming the window shut and pulling the heavy curtains across.
"You know what will happen if they catch an elf here." Mo continued on.
Laurie sighed and twirled a strand of hair round her finger.
"I'm a half elf!" but Mo had gone again.
Laurie opened a book and began to study again, it had all started about a year back. The humans had began to log a forest that the elves said was theirs. First it was just skirmishes, but soon it was all out war. Elves were banned from the city any that were caught met a swift end.

The sound of raised voices brought her back from her day dreams. The door flew open and Mo came in, she had never seen the halfling so upset, well not since Laurie had been hidden away in the old tower.

"Your step mother wants you out, she said that it is bad for all of us that you are here." Said Mo saddly. She began to collect together Lauries belongings.

"Where will I go?" said Laurie.

"Your Father has arranged for you to join one of his wine caravans for now, when things are safer in the city he will send word for you to return."

Under the cover of darkness and well covered up Laurie left with the wine caravan, she had never been out of the city really before. She felt both excited and scared, although after a few weeks on the road she soon felt bored.

03-12-06, 05:43 AM
Hey, i remember her now - you plaied her at Sandstorm, no? :=} Cool!
You said her stats are for 1st level, so i figured, since we'll be advancing her anyway, would you like to give her any specific prestige class? I faintly recall you liked the idea of a mirrorwalker... ;)
Also, would you like her to originate in the Realms {in which case, i think Calimshan is appropriate to the above background}, or in Dyverside {in which case it's probably Everkec. Seeing as Everkec is uncharted, anything more specific than the continent is up to you, heh}.

03-14-06, 01:59 PM
fine fine......Here's my choice. Like all My characters they are leveled to the storylines requirments

Palanth

Age: 25
Race: Polymorphed Elf
Weight: 120 lbs
Height: 5'5"
Profession: Sorcoror

Description:

A sight to be seen is Palanth. She stands at an even 5'5", her smooth and lithe form weighing not a pound over 120. Her build may not have many curves but
it is supple and taught, limber to say the least. Bright auric-like, eyes shine on her young features, a nice additive to her milky white skin; something
like caffé. By looks she is in her mid twenties; long flowing locks of chocolate brown hair flows about her waist, unbound. Elven ears sweep back elegantly
against her head, proof of race.

Leg hugging boots fit snuggly to her, leading up to her mid thigh. These light brown in color and made of a durable hide. Sitting nicely above the bit of
bare skin between her boots and hips is a simple, dusky rose skirt fitted about her waist. Next to your eyes is a golden, banner-esk sash, wrapping about
her thin waist only to drape to her knees. A bodice of matching dusky rose and golden trimmed short sleeves is contoured to her chest and abdomen. This
high collared piece has a swath of softened brown leather down the chest, affording some protection.

Lastly, strapped across her lithe body, resting on her back is a quiver. The arrows that fill it have fletching of golden feathers. The bow is what
remains; held across her back and neatly fitted around the quiver. This weapon seems to be made of the heart wood from an oak.

Recent changes to her. Around her wrist is a small golden braclett that seems to have some powers to it. Also situated on the middle of her forehead is a tatoo, the symbol of the Mako

History is a bit unknown.......

Her reason for being on the adventure, Her "Empolyer" has "asked" her too.

In reality she's a Slave, doing this because her Master has told her too.

Hay! I'd like to join the group :D Here's my char:

Name: Marco
Race: Human
Age: 23
Hair color: Blonde
Eye color: Emerald green

Dessy:
Marco looks like a viking. He is a viking. His boots, gloves and cloak are made out of wof pelt. He wears black bear hide as both clothes and armor. His magical belt that protects him from cold is made of white dragon leather. He carries a magical greataxe, Rimefire which he uses to deliver justice upon evil creatures. His long blonde hair is straight and his beard is tied so it looks like two smaller (I can't explain well. Best for you to see here: http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/969/marco0da.jpg ). He wears a horned helmet. The horns are actually white dragon's. Marco's body is very muscular. His master say that he is powerful as a minotaur and he looks like one with his helmet. When he sees evildoers nothing can stop him from totally destroying them.

History:
Marco was born in a small village far north. When he was about the age of 5, a white dragon known as Nidhogrym killed his family. Marco watched the scene and it haunted him all his youth. He was found by a shaman Boren after wandering the north for a few days. The shaman taught him how to fight and survive. He taught him almost everything the viking knows now.
When he reached the age of 18, Marco decided to find Nidhogrym and avenge his family. After a epic fight, he defeated the dragon by chopping its head with his axe. He took some of the dragon's leather, his horns and as much hoard as he could carry. His belt was made of the leather and the horns attached to his helmet. After his old master died he decided to travel south and vanquish more evil.

I changed my mind.

Name: Terrance the Lost one
Race: Emanicpated Wraith
Classes: Fighter 4, Emancipated Spawn 3

Description: These tattered fragments of what was, at one a time, a human look at you with piercing red eyes. He looks like he was once a male with long hair, which now appears to be dark black. His skin tone has faded to shades of dark grey, and he appears to be wearing a long jacket. He wears a ghost touch chain shirt underneath, and wields a ghost touch longsword. His face looks rounded and stern.

History:
The man wielded his sword futily at the wraith. He was already weakened, and he felt his life force fading quickly. The wraith struck out with a misty tendril, and slowly, he fell into blackness...

Afterwards, he can't remember much... however, he remembers one day watching awakening, not seeing the wraith that spawned him. "Where... am I?" His voice whispered. "Who... am I?"

The party of heroes who slaid the wraith looked over at him. "I... don't know..."
Infuriated, he struck out with ghostly arms, ending their pitiful lives...

He spent his days drifting between towns and cities, slaying all those who came in the way of his journey for enlightenment. As they died, his memories returned... each one revealing to him the dark truth of his past.

What this path is... is unknown to all else.

Why is here, helping out a group of goody twoshoes? No one knows. He says he simply feels the need too... but there is suspect he has other plans for the group.

Name: Vladimir Leonin
Race: Human or Lion?
Alignment: Lawful Nuetral
Classes: Druid 10/ Warshaper 2 (from Complete Warrior)

Skills: Vlad is a charismatic leader of great wisdom, though single-minded in his beliefs. He has many followers in the realms, of all races and species. He is stealthy and adept at sabatoge and tactics.

He is not one to hold back when revolution is the only right course of action. He stands tall at 6'1' with a bald head and great charisma. Some say he is really a lion that can take on Human form, others say is existence is defined by his ideals; If ever he should falter, he would cease to exist.

He travels with a female dire lion named Sasha, his only trusted companion.

History: Vladimir is wanted in several cities for the theivery of horses and livestock. He will tell you of course that he was liberating those creatures, that no being deserves to be kept as a slave. Vermin being the only exception.

Cassy sat at the table sipping a glass of water, her cloak was pulled around her giving her a shapless form. The cowl was pulled up hiding her hair and casting a shadow over her face. The candle flickered as a slight breeze teased the flame.

She had been at a loss for a while now moving around from place to place aimlessly. Her mind drifted to past years. The sound of laughter as she had taught her young charge how to handle a sword. Memories of seeing the spirt crushed out of the girl when she had married till all that remained of the free spirted girl was a timid mouse. Of the arguments Cassy had with her employer, till he had dissmissed her, saying that the marriage had bought wealth to the family and that his daughters welfare was no longer any concern of hers.
Cassy had picked up her rapier and walked out and had carried on walking from place to place, never staying any where for long. Until she had come across an old bard, a smile came to her eyes as she thought fondly of all he had taught her.

The voices were becoming more raised in the room as the night wore on, a glass smashed and angry words were said. At the sound of steel being drawn, cassy began to sing in a soft voice. She opened her mind and "looked" at the souls by the bar. Her song began to filter over to them bringing a kind of calm. One man rubbed his head another looked a little confussed. So many souls filled with worry and hatred, she remembered how being able to see so deep into some one had almost driven her mad, exept that Istin had been there to guid her through. Soulwarded, he had called it. She couldnt read thoughts it was some thing much deeper than that, some thing she was still learning about.

The serving girl came over and took the empty glass, pulling her hand away quickly when she brushed agaist Cassy's cold skin. Cassy stood up and tossed a few coins on to the table, a breeze made the serving girl shiver as she watched the figure leave.

Cassy stood out side and allowed the cowel of her cloak to slip down. The wind caught up the long untammed locks of blue and silver hair, the feel of air moving agaist her skin bought a slight smile to cassy's mouth and a glint to her silver eyes. She slipped her cloak off fully, the wind pulled at the flimsy garment that clad Cassy's body threatening to add new tears in to the all ready patched gown.

While riches held no meaning for her the pull of adventure did. The moon glinted on the silver rapier at her hip, picking out the gracefull markings upon its surface. She picked up her cloak and set off down the path, she began to sing in a voice that was in harmony with the wind.

OK, fixed up Leonin now. He should play like your basic druid, with some special abilities to Morph and such. He will be religious in defense of animals, including human ones.

Sweeeeet, it's time one of Demmy's Functioneers joined us. :=D Also, it's interesting - once again i see a beautyful girl named Cassy who can look into people's souls, but this time she's... pale!

Nickbeat:
What do you mean by "human anymals"? Lycanthropes and antherions? Regardless, you character kicks ass, and you're totally in. I'm even gonna steal a friend's Complete Worrior to check the PrC out.

Maybe it's better that we just start the adventure. Getting a reply from Piper could take a while. Second, Warshaper is a PrC that allows the person taking it to grow natural weapons. Crystal Keep can help you out a little further.
nickbeat

03-16-06, 12:03 PM
Many people forget that humans are animals. Leonin prefers he term 'beasts' to refer to the less intelligent creatures. If we were doing Eberrron, Leonin would be more of a shifter.

Taeldrin:
I'ma give him one more day. Or myabe not; depends on job interviews, my lady's calls, and my own whims, really. Hey, i'm chaotic - sue me. :=P What's Crystal Keep?

Nickbeat:
Cool, gotcha. Have you considered making him a lionwere or a werelion?

To be perfectly honest, part of the reason i want Piper is because i think with a nineth character, i'll have an easier time dividing the parties. Aspecially if he chooses to play a tank, and one from the Realms at that. The way it tands now, i can't seem to divide the group in a way that'll suit both the considerations of party versatility and those of in-game sencemaking. But still, in this game, no single player is irreplacable - i made sure it's that way. >D
Sounds cynical and mean, sure, but in Sandstorm i made Sneech's stupid duergar a main character of sorts, around whom a good portion of it all revolved, with Harold, for example, being pretty much bound to her. So when Sneech disappeared, it was impossible to kill off the character without ruining the adventure, and equally impossible to take the character under Dm controll without making it a lousy railroad. Playing in an adventure like that would have been similar to worshipping Moander. So this one is built to make everyone... disposable. A player disappears? Char gets killed off, or less permanently disposed of, and his party goes on. Over half of the party's players disappear? We hasten things up, and the remainder unites with the other party. That way, long as we have atleast one third of our innitial number - the adventure lives! Ha!
...
...errr, was i raving again? Oups.

I second that motion.
After all, it's taken Piper such an incredibily, ridiculously long time to make posts (for whatever reason), just in Khaira's Harp thread that it may well do us all a dis-service to wait for him to come along.

It is rather illogical to wait for a person who seems to not have the time to participate.

Meow. You make a good point {the nasty spiked chains and the ready breath weapon add an aspecially true ring to your arguments}. I'll start the IC thread tomorrow morning, or, if i don't fall asleep, purrhaps even today.

PrGo:
For convinience's sake, is it ok if we say Marco's homeland is either Ruathym, or the northern Moonshae islands? That will anchor him in the Realms, and make dividing the parties easier.

I prefer to let his species be a mystery, he hates when 'speciests' pigeonhole ya. Lets say he doesn't even know himself what his true nature is. You can surprise him. (Do you have Complete Divine? I could go for one of those prestige classes as well.)

And i'm sorry for the delay, everyone. The IC thread will start tomorrow, which is saturday, meaning i'm guaranteed to have nothing beter to do. :=}

Pay attention!

In the Elven Court group, note these words in the intro:

Be it from Waterdeep, Chult, Icewind Dale or even outside Realmspace, each of them made his own way, untill eventually, all four reached the thicket towards which theyr dreams - or, one one case, theyr orders - called them.

Deep within the forest of Cormanthor, ignorant of eachother's presence and proximity, Palanth, Appleblossom, Leonin and Marco, each camped for the night at the foot of a mossy hill.
That is to say your characters have not met yet. With the exception of those to which otherwise was said in PM, you are currently unaware that any others are camping nearby.

Nothing happened, but let's just make sure such "communication failures" are kept to a minumum, aight? :=}
That aside, i'm loving your chars already! :=D

I am aware this past year, my track record has not been perfect, and I don't blame you guys if your mad at me. Honestly, I am trying to make an effort to be more active on the boards like as used to. Also I am trying to pull up AIM on this computer so I can talk to Khaira, and others. I cannot imagine what it must be like for her not scream at me, in that exact moment >< I can only say thanks for putting up with me thus far.

I love you guys too much to just bail, and how else am I going to get better at writing if I havn't any practice?

I have pmed Quathmoir saying that I'm going to have to miss out on this adventure. I wouldn't want to further delay anything, but I will observe.

On another note, I checked out Kulis deviant art site, and the art there delighted me! Thats really amazing how you can take things from memory and create them for us to see. It must be a challenge with digital art, but you make it look so easy!

Maybe you can draw Piper throwing a fireball right at Agudo's....face! Or take that scene out of treachery where we are pistle whipping eachother in his cell. Just dont put the part where he throws ******* at me. I know, Agudo's behavior is similar to that of a monkey.

Thancue, Ruthia! U R00L. :D

I'm back from my beloved now, so today, i'll fianlly post for Stfu, Treemmouphindar, the DM in Cormanthor and - if Faeryl posts and all four are ready to go - also the DM in Moslehyll.
Sure, i had other plans for today, like staying MUCH longer with m'lady {as long as her father can suffer my presence, or untill she must go back to her base, whichever 'pires first}, or going to visit a certain Crazy Drow Lady {don't ask, though Khaira will know, sorta}, but several kids needed my place, and since i'm not yet screwie enough to actually give copies of my key freely to every neighboring family, i had to go all the way back here and let them in myself.
If it weren't for roleplaying {and thus the bunch of you}, which provides me a grudging substitution for my other plans, i would have been quite post-officed right now. :=}

And now, a question for the Elven Court {Nickbeat, PrGo, Ruthia and Agudo} group: Does any of your chars know either Undercommon, Deep Drow, or Silent Drow?

Not Marco. Usually my every char has drow and drow silent (I love the race :D) but it'd be unrealistic if a barbarian from the Icewind Dale knew the language of the dark elves that dwell deep bellow the surface. He knows Common, Draconic, Sylvan and Orc. :)

The crazy drow lady suggested that? Really? You're not pulling my not-yet-developed tail, are you? My memory must be getting awfully bad, heh.

Oh, and I don't think you have to worry about being hated if you fail to make those DM posts today. After all, considering my lag in all of my threads (and, earlier, my adventure. Ahem), if such things were true, I would be detested, hated and revolted by everyone! ;)

Sorry friends, new to this experience and did not realize we had a seperate thread. Vlad would certainly know elven, not likely drow, but he would know undercommon as these areas would be a place where he would carry out much of his revolutionary activities. Charisma and Wisdom are his strong points, so likely he would not know more beyond say Elven, Common, Sylvan, and Druidic, maybe Undercommon.

I will attend to the OOC thread more diligently from now on.

Umm, Moslehyll people? Pay attention to the DMing posts?

"Where to?", asks a cheerful voice, as a horse-driven wagon with two horses {and place for another one} stops just infront of the group, as it comes ouf of the Toprock's huge doors. The goblin driving the horses is dressed just like an averege chikrizan gnome, and seems perfectly comfortable in that clothing. He quickly looks the party over, and although he shivers slightly at the sight of Faeryl and Terrance, his happy-to-serve expression instantly returns; a necromancer and its undead minion was one of the things he knew he'll end up driving one day, if he continues working from northern Moslehyll and the Toprock, and has always been mentally prepared.
Seeing that none of the four seems to be interested in his services, the goblin taps his horses with the reins, and moves on to the next series of people spilling out of the Toprock's doors, as he murmurs something under his nose about fancy guilds, with theyr magic, and ingeneering, and potions, taking away all the clients. Fortunately for him, the distance his next "marks" intend to travel is much humbler, and they readily climb into his wagon, happy for the low price of a mundane, two-horse carriage.
^
^ That was the guildless, mundane goblin driver. ^

A gnome riding a single horse stops nearby; the horse draws a wagon almost identical to the goblin's, probbaly manufactured by the same craftsman. Over the horse's neck, however, fits an odd leather harness, holding two white quarz bottles on one side, and one red and one brown on the other. A tube extands from each of the bottles into the horse's mouth. A silver rod is strapped to the driver's belt, and his garmetns are more expensive, with a guild's insignia worn over the colar. "The Outskirt's Wagoneers Guild takes you to your destiantion quickly, safely, and guarantees that your business is forgotten a soon as it is carried out, should such be your wish, for no extra payment!", he announces proudly, as he opens his wagon's door by pulling a hidden string, and motions for them to enter.

"So, where shall my noble Ladies and Sir choose to travel this fine evening?", asks the gnomish wagoneer, as if he were already elected from all other options.
^
^ That was the enhanced, gnomish guild wagoneer. ^

By the door, his arms folded on his chest, stands a different gnome. In his rich, green and silver robes of elven design, and his guild's insignia on his belt, this person remains silent, as he really needs no introduction. Anyone who was once here, and many who never were, would instantly recognize his arcane uniform as that of the Wayfarers Guild. No mounts, no wagons - only a spoken magical formula and a wave of such a person's hands, and the customer is at his destimation, whereas the wayfarer, uppon return, loses that destination, the customer's face, and other details to a pinch of Amnesia Dust.
The Wayfarer's eyes are now floating frequently over the group, however, as - eventhough he is out of hearing range, considering the lively noise around - his professional expereince tells him they are probbaly considering him as an option. As is the habbit with most of his collegues, however, he lets his readiness to serve be implied and "obvious", rather than flushed with a redundant flow of self-praise, overpredictable questions, and other needless words that a rich and important client might find irritating.
^
^ That was the gnome of the Wayfarers Guild. ^

Now, i'm looking hard, and i'm still not seeing this: where was the unclarity? What made some {i'm not even sure which ones and how many} of you mistake the number and/or nature of options?

I had taken to refering to the Wayfaring gnome as the "Wayfarer" and the guild-gnome as the 'gnome'. I assumed they were going carriage ways after Kulideb's post, and didn't bother to read up, though I assumed it's because we had made a choice.

Well, as I'm trying to update it to 3.5 FROM 2nd e, I'm somewhat disappointed they turned it into a prestige class, because it's supposed to be a water faerie that can turn into a swan in the Celtic setting (see also Gwraggden Annwn). But, yes, it would be the 3e swanmay prestige class.

Well lol I went back and read the post and the only thing I could find was that (The another) needed to be (other)and made a change
But even still the meaning seem clear

Ruthia
Palanth says nothing as these odd people all talk around her. Unsure where to run to..or even if anywhere is safe at the moment, the girl pulls out her bow and notches an arrow. WHen backed into a corner she did have the ability to fight, though she hadn't had to in along while. She Looks back and forthe between the three, not saying a word as she waits for direction..

Springtime sees the young girl played by Ruthia
Nickbeat is saying we need to fight Drow

Driud played by Nickbeat 04-09-06, 03:55 PM
It is not the druidic figure of bald humanity, but Sascha that speaks to the group! The Drow are your enemy, they seek the scroll. prepare to fight

Nickbeat 04-13-06, 10:56 AM
This should be a memorable day for all of us.... We heroes, by our solid resistance to the drow have proved that at a difficult moment there are still people in our midst who can uphold our common interests, that our worthy adversaries have not yet succeeded in turning us for all time into the miserable slaves of their bottomless purses. Let us, then, comrades, stand firm and steadfast and carry on to the very end, let us remember that we can improve our conditions only by our common and concerted efforts. Above all, comrades, don’t fall into the trap so cunningly prepared by them
Granted a grand long winded post just as good as any Agudo books ;)

Small one, you will always be a slave to others if you expect someone else to fight for you. Keep your eyes and ears on the wood, while I summon aid.
Leonin begins to encant, "Equis Purificus Fecundium!"
Two unicorns come racing out of the woods, and stand by Leonin's side. He and Sascha stand back to back, preparing for the attack of the drow.

And since my char and Ruthia dont know each other.... well then thats the one Springtime sees with the weapon who is not a friend yet so she thinks the Druid maybe talking about Ruthia Char

Buuut I am Agudo to much magic in closed towers lol

The elf woman is already in our midst, facing the forest as we all are.

In truth the girl played by Ruthia moved away from us
Rightly so I may add!
For who are we to her?

Ruthia AKA Small Girl
If anything the girl looks scared out of her mind, trying to look at all the sounds at once, her delicate elvine ears catching it all. She finally walks backwards, away from them...still scared speechless...

Like I said on PG 4 of the OOC Springtime does not know her
The young girl played by Ruthia hasnt spoken to anyone and has a weapon

Ruthia/Palantha
Palanth says nothing as these odd people all talk around her. Unsure where to run to..or even if anywhere is safe at the moment, the girl pulls out her bow and notches an arrow. WHen backed into a corner she did have the ability to fight, though she hadn't had to in along while. She Looks back and for the between the three, not saying a word as she waits for direction..

Why would we assume she friendly?

On top of it the Druid and Lion are talking about fighting Drows making Springtime jumpy

In truth I think the fact that my Char would even trust strangers like a lion and a Druid in the middle of a forest, full of deadly, creatures right after an attack, is stretching it

Then add a big Barbarian who Springtime does not know has shown up
Springtime hasnt even learn his name

With that in mind most of us dont even no why the others are here
My Char only knows her dream she is not aware of others coming like Ruthia Char

Really lol ...is it me or would we all be so trusting after a life an death fight?

Who to say one of us isn’t in with the Drow?

So I stand by my post above this PG 4 of OOC and hope its clear now to the GM :)

Alright, Agudo, then how exactly do you "die fist"?
I assume "fight fist" refers to some sort of a spontaneous boxing competition, which is hardly relevant, but atleast has some meaning within itself. However "die fist"? Is it some spell, after casting which, your unarmed attack covers the target with a coloring substance?
I'm also not sure where "there side" is located. I understand Marco was on it, so it could be that "there side" is all that lies north of Appleblossom's tree trunk {as in "this is not the west or the east side, this is not the left or the right side - this is THERE side!"}, but even that's a stretch.

Now, my guesses are your "fist" was supposed to be "first", and your "there" was supposed to be "their", in which case all falls into place {well, not all, but the rest would require the dreaded concept of Punctuation, and i think neither of us is ready to go there just yet}. However, it would be much nicer if we could all operate without resoring to the need of guessing. Trust me, there'll be enough guessing required of your chars IC, at one point or another - no need to have the players guess things OOC.

I really don't mean to be picking in you Agudo, you know i like you, but for the sake of the adventure's quality and readability, i'd like you to pay attention to these things. I'm no excemption from my own demands: make infinite typoes myself, but i preview my posts, reread them, and when i find something, i fix it. Even then, due to my own lousy attention, i end up editing the posts for things i find later. So no hard feelings here, eh? :=}

Taeldrin:
A scarf is an atribute of clothing, a crossbow is a weapon, rings and an amulet ar forms of jewelry, so i suppose that means "Nope, nothing else".

Leonin had the advantage of surveying the fight from high above, and saw the various players at rest before the attack. This is why he can be pretty sure you are not with the drow.

Granted, it truly does make sense that your character would be suspicious, as would Ruthia. We can only hope she won't attack until someone attacks her.

Leonin hopes the presence of unicorns will lend some credence to his good intentions. It looks like we are all standing at the ready, just waiting for the drow to show up. Maybe they ran away?

Perhaps we will need to converse in character a bit more.

The point here, I believe, is not to have perfect posts, devoid of grammatical or punctuation errors of any kind. I believe, more so, our kind DM was, in his own kind way, simply requesting that we, as each member of a collective group, strive harder to utilize punctuation, line breaks, and proper paragraphs.

These are, after all, the stepping stones of English (or any language!) and, when reading posts, proper grammar makes it much easier to read than broken text.

...and now that I've said that, I'm off to catch up on schoolwork, after being deathly ill for 2 days.

I agree it wasnt one of my best posts
For that I must apologies
One thing my post needed to use more is ((Quotes))
So as to show what my Char saw and why she was acting the way she did
The druid and I had made several posts and some of the subject may have been lost over time to the readers
Also when I add color and other things to my words
It sometimes drags the sentences together
Inturn making it harder for others to read
I normaly try to catch that but in that post I didnt
I will strive to do so more here

Now on a side note:
I would add that as someone who has GM many games on the MOP
To many to list here no matter how my Ego wants to lol
Its always better for a GM to (PM) a person about problems
So this stuff doesnt get dragged out in OOC ....well lol kind of like now!

Oh, and i'm not reailroading: i'll be equally happy whether you look for the drow to counterattack them, or just try to walk away, or do any other thing... as long as some action takes place!

Quathmoir Dlaeh Issarhai

FR = Forgotten Realms, aka Realmspace, the crystal sphere containing Abier-Toril, Selune, et c. The mound you're dancing around is not far from the Elven Court's remains, in the forest of Cormanthor, on the continent of Faerun, on the planet of Toril, in the Forgotten Realms, so yeah - you're in the FR crew. :=}
There's also a Dyverside crew, which has just traveled from Moslehyl, Chikriza, to Pointvale {both locations are on the continent of Clath, on the planet known as Dyverside}. The two crews will meet eventually, but for now, when i speak of the FR crew, it mean Marco, Palanth, Ms. Springtime and Leonin+Sascha, whereas when i refer to the Dyverside crew, it means Cassandra, Terrance, Faeryl and Cronir.

Quathmoir Dlaeh Issarhai

05-27-06, 03:21 PM
Yes, there's a post in the IC thread, telling you just that.

Even when Cassy reached the extent of her strength, the lever only screeched quietly, moving no more than a few milimeters. An indistinct and quiet sound echoed, as if in responce, from either the stone doors itself or from just beyond it, but that's all. Apparently, to pull the lever down - if that is at all possible - would require much greater strength or weight than the genasi posesses.

Agudo is taking the blame for someone else's stupidity, Khaira is willingly giving up her priviliges, and Alterak's post is actually removed. Wow, everybody are so nice today! I bet i got cancer and eveyone knows except for me. :P

Ok, a couple minor notes/remarks/questions:
Nickbeat: Which drow is the Big Kitty attacking? First you said she "follows suit", so from the context, i assumed she attacks the same target as Vladimir - meaing the assasin; but then you refred to Sascha's target as a "her", so i thought it's the priestess, who's currently the only female enemy you're aware of. Which one izzit? Once you tell me, i'll finally reply.
PrGo: It's not big breach, but check out your last post. You've written what happens to the enemy, which is, except in rare cases, a "verification", aka "godmoding", and thus a nono. Before you describe the desired result of an attack, you must indicate somehow that it is only the intended effect, not necesserily something that already happened {since you don't have control over the hostyle NPCs, and thus donlt know the result for sure, at the time of posting}. For example, "As he struck the beast the axe dug deeply at its flesh as the cold flames slowly consumed it." could be changed to "Once he strikes the beast, the axe should dig deeply at its flesh while the cold flames slowly consume it". I know this necessity can be a bich, but it benefits game consistency, and makes it more fluent, readable and enjoyable. :)
Where's Drindin & Philip? :P

And PrGo, have you read the one before it?
Please don't ignore your DM, my frrriends.

Is the wee gnome alive? I was under the impression she was dead as a doornail.
What does a heal check reveal? Not exactly. See, if you take one of those really tiny brushes, and draw a little face on the top of a doornail, then it'll almost seem alive. However, if you painted the same face on the tip of Ms. Springtime's nose, she'll still show flatline on your monitor.
So, in other words, eventhough you're in battle right now, take 20 on the heal check and it still tells you Appy's picking flowers in Bytopia.

That said, Agudo, please try to avoid metagaming and OOC posts in the IC thread, ok? :=}

Just fyi, the assasin is male, whereas the priestess' clothes are far from skimpy. Besides, while it's not impossible to pass the traps without a rogue, it'll be quite a trial, if they don't have the aid of their incorporeal friend.

Indeed. Faeryl's knowledge about such dangerous mechanisms is hardly enough to deal with them. While Faeryl and Cassy could technically get by the traps (Faeryl via Levitate due to racial stuff and Cassy the same). That would, unfortunately, leave Cronir all awone outside the tomb, with no way to (safely) join the other companions.
But, besides that, Faeryl has no way of knowing how that other pesky maybe-kind-of-sortingtrap works, or if it does. :)

This was, of course, the reason why Faeryl suggested that some individuals - two party members, ideally - go into the tomb whilst she and another individual stand outside to watch ... just in case a trap should to go off.
Selfish motivtions, perhaps? Maybe. ;)

But perhaps it's best to wait for Cronir anyway; Faeryl probably wants to rest after all the work she's done. :P

Just kidding. Faeryl doesn't have wizard levels ... yet. ;)

In all seriousness, though, Faeryl already rationed that out in her post.

Threads like the webs of Lolth await,
And only for another's blood shall it be slaked.

Er. Rationaled? Rationalized? Er ... ah, forget it! I can't be expected to use proper grammar after an entire morning of interviewing people and doing math for two hours. :banghead:

In any case, I'm just waiting for my other dutiful companions to awaken from death. It'd be rather foolhardy for Faeryl to venture into the tomb all by her lonesome.

Khaira

06-07-06, 04:29 PM
Hey Khaira...since when does sane and rational apply to your characters? :P

:teach: Khaira's player dons the lecturing hat. :teach:

Khaira Amastacia - Chaotic Neutral Bardess who is sometimes calm, relaxed, and sometimes meddling in the affairs on behalf of certain semi-secret organizations, and sometimes psychotically sadistic, depraved, and mashocistic.

Faeryl Zolond - Drow Elf Cleric of Eilistraee who's sole mission is to bring light and peace to the surface world, and convert the more despicable members of her race to the Dancing Maiden

Evander Sunstrike - The knight of Corellon Larethian and companion of Khaira, as well as another "meddler" whom, additionally, is involved in various other sorts of connundrums.

Mazithra Amakiir - Planeshifting Githerzai from the ever-changing chaos of Limbo who acts with a barbarian mentality with a hint of philosophy. Only half as crazy as Khaira.;)

Dante Ambrose - Half-Elven Sorcerer, deformed by experiments of Thay, Dante has a half fluidly crystalline face and a half acid-burned face. Has vowed to eliminate the Red Wizards of Thay. Nearly matches Khaira for craziness. Temporary residence in Dockview.
Chaotic Neutral (leaning heavily towards evil)

Anastrianna Amastacia - Not telling :P, but soon to see.

Thusly, so I say, devoid of depredations, that Khaira is the crazy, psychotic, individual along with Mazithra and Dante. Consequently, Faeryl, who is the meticulously analyzing character, is not insane, and neither is Evander or Anastrianna. So there. :P
ruthia

06-07-06, 04:33 PM

Update on the Forum Upgrade Process

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What happened: On Monday morning, late in the test phase of upgrading the forum hardware and software, we ran across a bug in the software that runs the database. The bug is not a small one -- it reports a table "going suspect" which is serious problem that can lead to massive data loss.

MySQL affirmed it as a known issue and explained that it was fixed in a recent release (4.1.20 as opposed to 4.1.16). We were also advised this problem can stem from bad hardware. We went to the recommended MySQL release and tests indicated that the issue was resolved. On Tuesday, hours before our intention to make the upgraded forums live, the “solved bug” reappeared.

What is being done: Wizards tech is building out a new production environment to eliminate or confirm hardware issues. At the same time, they are working with MySQL to allow them to examine our specific case in detail.

What this means: The migration to upgraded boards hardware and software is on hold indefinitely. An ETA on when we will proceed can only be made and announced once we uncover the source of the suspect table. Discussion about these issues continues on this thread if you would like to participate. Although this is a disappointment, discussion on the current boards will continue as normal.

Yes, i know i took much longer than i siad i will; sorry. I'm losing my job here, and a person whose words i'm used to take as unquestinable truths is now telling me that {as well as the accidents that led to it and many other things} is all my own direct fault, then fails to explain. Mreh. I begin sounding like a freaking blogger.

Dyverside team:
A general reminder to read posts attentively. Lemme remind you, for example, that the path does have a small measure of lighting, from the torches which so misteriously lit up when you opened the door. And Faeryl's spell still makes the traps glow, too {the ones she found, anyway. No rogue levels there}.

Marco charged in the other topic cuz the first thing he saw was the drow mage that dominated him moment earlier, so he (as a barbarian) raged immedeately, not noticing that elf.

Well, until someone gives me a clue, i'll just pretend the New boards never existed. I know i took very long as it is, but even moreso, it's annoying to see that when i finally had enough free time and clear head to post IC - the boards went down again for an indefinite time. Only now i found that the old ones are still functioning, and many who have already moved to the new ones may still not know it.

Yeeaaahhhhh. About that...Unless I'm missing something, the closest magical solution I've found is to either levitate over, or use shatter on a visible trap. But besides that, Cronir is still a rogue.
Quathmoir Dlaeh Issarhai

07-24-06, 05:56 AM
Dyverside team:
~ purrs on Debs' lap ~

Levitating would do you no good, unless you're the size of a leprechaun: the threads in the first trap cross the entrance with only 10-15 cm intevals or so between them. As for Cronir's skill as a rogue - well, the devil are you wating for, Mister Mallory? :=}

FR team:
Is anyone even using the map? I just now noticed a very stupid mistake i made in it long ago. Fixed now, and updated -
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g12/Crawling_Meower/Do2W-EC.jpg
* The number after a # is postcount: for example, the panel with "#30" shows the things as they stand at the end of post #30, and the changes that took place since the previous DM post {in this case #25}.
* The bold numbers in ()s are living enemy count.
* The drow are marked by numbers, according to quantity.
* Slaves of the drow are hollow, round and dark green.
* Chars are round: Palanth is blue, other chars are the color they speak in, Sascha is Leonin's color, but hollow.
* Summoned creatures are square: unicorns are green, the fire elelemental is yellow but outlined to be seen on the white background, the wierd llothite creature is mustard, and refered to in the descriptions simply as monster.
*The elf that just appeared is marked by a wierd s-like sign. Some of you know him personally, ofcourse, but not through the chars you play here.
* Grey numbers are drow that cannot be at the moment seen by any of the party members {due to hiding, Sanctuary, or other means}.
* "Ghosty" movement arrows {and the extra-bold one on panel #1} mean either the point of origin or that of destination is way beyond the map's border.

On Monday, August 21st, at 7:30 a.m., Wizards will make a database snapshot of the forums and begin applying software and hardware upgrades to this data. We expect to have the upgraded forums ready for your use the morning of Thursday, August 24th.

During this time, you will still be able to post here on these forums, but any posts/PMs/profile changes made between the 21st and the 24th will not be carried over to the new forums. After successful migration, these old forums will be archived into a read-only format.

Faeryl

08-29-06, 03:47 PM
I just talked to him last week ... sometime. He was online and talking to me via MSN, but I'd have thought he would've taken the opportunity to respond to both his threads and this one.

Bad me for making assumptions.
Khaira

08-30-06, 08:31 PM
Perhaps it's time - perhaps even past time - to either simply post for Drindin and drag him along or ignore him until such a time arises as he decides to associate with us again.

We've all had to do it in our respective threads - with the Quigley's in Ruthia's adventure, Piper in mine, yadda yadda yadda.

08-31-06, 03:22 AM
For now, i'm assuming Terrance remains silent. It's a wraith thing. WHEN Drin resumes posting, Terrance will once gain interact with the paty, but for now, we'll have to assume he ignores anything said to him and anything happening around. A withdrawal into his cepulcral nature, if you wish.

On an unrelated note, i think i leveled up OOC and got the Fast Healing feat: my window broke and rained glass on me when i was sleeping, but the blood was kinda gooey when it came, and now my wounds are already mostly closed. Heh, maybe i'm part troll.

TAAAAAAAAELDRIN! Come back!

Or, in the words of my personal hero:

Mr. Laesrash, welcome back. We missed you.

(Yeah, I know, it doesn't make sense, since Tael hasn't left and hasn't come back yet. THen again, when do I make sense? What sense is there to make when sense in and of itself really doesn't make sense and making sense simply, inevitably in the end, doesn't make any sense to make sense.)

Is there any particular reason why Agudo isn't posting as Appy?
We're in no position to resent Drindin for his disappearance, far as this particular game is concerned, since he wasn't originally interested, and we basicly talked him into joining with a good Cha roll. Agudo, however, joined on his own innitiative, and i would expect either a post or an explanation why such is not possible at this time.

09-07-06, 10:34 PM
I'm here, I'm here. Don't make me go Neo on you, Faeryl. We all know who won that fight.

Whoa.;)

And, technically speaking, Neo simply allowed himself to be assimilated into the self-asorbing, self-realizing Cult of Smith. Since he was merely assimilated and thus beaten, in order to succumb to the martyrdom theme inherent to which his success was dependent on, one could argue that he didn't actually win. In fact, one could argue that he merely heeded the advice of the Oracle-that-was-Smith and, thus, one could pointedly argue that it was, in fact, the Oracle who won since she, after all, played the artful came of deception and rule-breaking so well. Hm, reminds me of Elminster and Khelben.

Okay, okay, enough of my Matrix interpretations!

Is there any particular reason why Agudo isn't posting as Appy?

He was having computer problems but, as his post stated (I thought?), it was fixed. Unless he's having situation like mine and his canine companions took vengeance on his computer for him...
