| Dandrie Swift06-24-05, 11:52 PM | Well this is the out of character thread for lasiera. First off, Im in need of players. And now looking for a co Dm. Secondly the plot, In my excitement i never created a plot. I just made the basics and hoped for one to evolve. Dandrie Swift, the rogue, the man. :D In his last little scuffle with Torain's men he has finally angered the thieve's guild leader to the point where he wants him out of the picture. And true to his habits, has ordered Dandrie to be shipped out into Gloominveil, the guilds usual way of dealing with unwanted competition (and all competition is unwanted) or any halfwit that has peeved him on more than one occasion. Those who have been dispatched out to ship Dandrie to the swamp has orders to take anyone that is with him, as to tie up all the loose ends. But don't get me wrong Dandrie isn't the hero of this story. He is only the character who is responsible for the whole mess, and once he and any others who had the poor luck to help him are dragged to the abysmal place, don't hesitate to blame him. Once reaching the swamp, the party will try to escape. Plain and simple. Using their wits and skill to try and get back into the city. Fighting against all odds, demons, cults, undead, cutthroats and any other challenge you can imagine. Now how did this whole thing get started you ask? well let me tell you. ---------- Lasiera is a city literally carved out of the stone by the goddess of arcane knowledge, Lasiera. It came to be when this goddess decided that she needed a haven of free thinking individuals that shared her personality. It looks as if a Gigantic Spire was expelled out of the earth partially. Unlike the Dwarven mines Asoori "the Great Forge" it was wrought of magic. The tunnels are mostly perfectly cut with an unnatural sheek. The City of Lasiera is a coastal town and the water of the bay runs right under the city forming an impressive Dock. On the lower levels near the docks everything is a little more sinister. The bearers of arcane knowledge are less, the corridors are more natural and the lawless more frequent. Dandrie Swift a rogue with unusual talents was striding through there, virtually dissappearing into the shadows for no better reason than he was bored. Bound not by time he meandered around those lower levels occasionally "bumping" into individuals helping them share the burden of carrying supplies, though it was never returned, Dandrie justified this saying it was a payment for sharing the load. After an hour and some gold made he worked his way up to the upper levels. He would use his newfound wealth to pay for various magical items. He would have prefered to keep the gold and just plainly steal the items he desired but the upper levels were rigged with alarms and traps for thieves. Dandrie didn't care, he had a fascination for magic and as he thought, an apptitude. Sadley he was orphaned at in his early years and never had a chance to properly learn magic let alone eat a proper meal. Everybody is full of surprises though and in truth Dandrie did have an aptitude for magic and found he could manipulate magical items to his own use. So he was off to his favourite shop to see what was new. when he was done and purchased a new scroll for his growing collection -one that would boost his agility and reflexes- he wandered down into the lower levels once again. So caught up in his fascination with the scroll, he realized he was in a place he shouldn't have been when he was shook from his revelations and dreams when a hot pain exploded in his head. Barely able to keep his wits he dissappeared into one of the shadows. He was able to collect his thoughts as he watched the thug that hit him with the club search methodically for him. "Oh great," he thought, " One of Torain's men. Why did i walk here." Torain was a leader of a semi-powerful Thieves guild and was insulted by Dandrie when he refused to join. Truth was the Rogue of the dark shades never really had the stomach that Torain and his men had for bloodshed. So he became Torain's guild's favourite person for target practice. Which to say he became good at being a difficult target, but everyone slips. He ducked in behind the brute grabbing his purse while he was at it and ran silently down the hall. He was pleased to see that Torain paid his men well. ------------------------- Thus when Torain found out this indignity he in a blaze of fury ordered his shipment. Feel free to blame, beat, yell, and kick Dandrie for your problems. He's use to it. So! Anyone interested in my First thread i ever created <insert guilt trip here> :D:D:D:D |
| Arshes06-25-05, 10:34 PM | hmm, i may put medri in.. perhaps he can be an old contact of dendri's who happen to stop by that night? |
| Dandrie Swift06-25-05, 10:52 PM | sure. Sounds great. They could even be partners or something close to that effect. Or maybe Dandrie owes him money. There are a great deal of possible reasons. Remember it's sometime after midnight, so on average only the lawless tend to be up at this hour |
| Arshes06-25-05, 10:56 PM | medri's a ninja ;) showing up when itsnot expected is what he's good at. |
| Dandrie Swift06-25-05, 11:11 PM | Great, sounds like a good time. I just reread Jeth's post and i feel bad because i didn't make it clear enough. Lasiera is a city that was carved from a mountain. It spans many levels deep and homes are little caves and caverns cut away from tunnels, only the most wealthy nobles and live on the top of the mountain in actual traditional homes. Each floor is basically a labyrinth of tunnels opening up into tremendous caverns filled with all manner of shops, homes, apartments, and inns. Dandrie's home actually is in one of these great caverns. So it is possible to hide on a rooftop of some other building, but there isn't any stars and at this time of night all the torches are burning low in their sconces instead of stars. *shrugs* sorry. There was no way anyone could have got that, except maybe figure it was underground. I had planned on describing it in detail when Dandrie left his house. Sorry. As for anything else in this world, with the exception of the docks and the plateau (the highest level of the city where nobles reside) it is free game, be as creative as you please. :D :D |
| Dandrie Swift06-27-05, 04:57 PM | Arshes, what type of personality does Medri have? |
| Khaira07-02-05, 04:36 PM | Anastrianna Amastacia! Anastrianna (On-ah-stree-ahna) Amastacia is the daughter of Khaira Amastacia, the famous (or infamous, depending on who is speaking of her) bard known throughout Faerun. Where Khaira is an outgoing, sleightly off-the-wall, spur-of-the-moment chaotic adventurer, Anastrianna is much more calculating and analytical, surveying the situation at hand before becoming involved. She is a survivor, first and foremost, and prefers to remain an observer. She watches the clash of both sides carefully before making a decision on which to help out. Depending on the circumstances, she may use her abilities of a sneak, learned on the streets of Zakhara*, to disable enemies or, if such a situation calls for it, will use her ability with a nunchaku to distract the enemy. While she is, first and foremost a survivor, her pity for others in less ideal positions sometimes obscure her better judgement, like her mother, Khaira. If she sees that a particular person and that they would be worthy people to have as allies (or more importantly, friends), she will risk all to help them out. A character sheet is located here (http://www.wizards.com/leaving.asp?url=http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5900838&postcount=355&origin=) Is that good enough for your storyline? *Zakhara is an old, 2nd edition campaign setting, equivalent in some effect to the setting of the Disney move Aladdin or, if you rather, that of Arabian Nights. It is a somewhat chaotic - and dangerous - place full of conniving sultans and sifting sands and wily merchants. |
| Arshes07-04-05, 10:27 PM | i'd like to point out that, since medri is a ninja, he can also disapear into the shadows. :P i'm thinking of making him a reformed ghost-faced killer. :D |
| Jeth Kiirnodel07-05-05, 12:04 PM | Well, it seems my plan for giving up on the job to focus on a higher goal is being made easier by the latest entry. |
| Khaira07-05-05, 12:28 PM | OOC: From Fascinate: "The distraction of nearby combat or other dangers prevent this ability from working." Oh well. At least you got to hear a pretty song at least. ;) |
| Khaira07-05-05, 01:34 PM | Okay...I must say I'm *really* confused. Right now, everyone's on stairs or steps or something of that nature, right? Okay, so the freakish hunter Jeth is flying and attacking...someone. And he's going down the stairs to a tunnel entrance. Meanwhile, Dandrie is going UP the stairs to a tunnel entrance (or exit?). Okay, so am I the only one that's become awfully confused? You know what...here's two maps. Somebody tell me if either of them is right. -- | = steps D=Dandrie, J=Jeth, A=me, M=Midri, e=tunnel entrance | #1 e-- | |D ----A? | | |J(in air or whatever) | | |M? ------------------(etc) -- | |D ----A? | | #2 |J(in air or whatever) | | |M? ------e------------(etc) Okay, so Dandrie's going up to the tunnel entrance/exit...but Jeth is going DOWN to the entrance/exit. WTF?! |
| Arshes07-05-05, 02:24 PM | i'm right behind Dandrie. where ever he is at exactly, is beyond me. |
| Jeth Kiirnodel07-05-05, 02:29 PM | Dandrie is in the tunnel. I landed, and am chasing. Medri shadowwalked/ported/wuteva by Dandrie. You're standing by the entrance. |
| Arshes07-05-05, 02:35 PM | shadow form. ^_^ it allows my to become a shadow for a bit. well, not the undead shadow.... |
| Dandrie Swift07-05-05, 04:42 PM | ok here it is. We are in a huge cavern full of buildings. A staircase lies on the side of the cavern climbing up to the tunnel aka exit. On one side lies a wall, and the other is a vertical drop to the cavern floor. i am running to the door, Passing Ana, with Medri right in front. Then Jeth is in the air going towards the bottom looking for me, as far as i can tell. And orcslayer is off in the distance a little more than a bad memory as far as i can tell. I;m about 30 feet away from the tunnel, though i forgot to mention it, sorry. Now that we are nearing the tunnels. if we make it there. They are stone and perfectly cut, this set of tunnels makes for an effective maze where they branch off in so many directions, I'm trying to make my way for the surface, as it is nearing the morning and hoping to lose myself in the crowd. Any questions? Also i will begin writing up all the info on the Plataeu aka the summit of lasiera and only large scale district that is above ground. |
| Khaira07-16-05, 07:43 PM | hm? What's going on/ It looks as though the thread has died... |
| Dandrie Swift07-17-05, 06:53 PM | no didn't die it's just hte cumulative time spent in my house besides sleeping is about 3 in the last week and a half. I think everyone is waiting for me? As soon as I get time i will post. |
