In this sequel thread to Cliffside War, Soziel Lorfeign has crowned himself First King of the Vampires. In his possession are powerful artifacts that allow him to control vampire’s minds at close range. This makes him a dangerous and formidable enemy to the existing government of Houses.

During the week time lapse between Cliffside War and Scions of Cliffside, Soziel has called a meeting of all House leaders under false pretenses. In a grand trick he’s taken hold of the minds of every House’s leader and made a new court.

However, there are some who would fight against their new monarch, scions of every house that managed to escape the city before Soziel closed its gates and manned its walls. Below are a list of these survivors and a brief explanation of their background and motives. Choose one and join the fight to liberate the vampire’s capital city.

We’ll begin the story once two people join up and the rest can hop in whenever.

The Scions are divided between three premade characters and three premade houses that you can supply your own character in. Hopefully this will help intergrate writers more easily into the story.

Pre-made Characters:

1. Sigula Mallus of House Mallus

Sigula Mallus, younger brother of House leader Vivictus Mallus, was enjoying another night of his retirement in a villa outside Cliffside when news reached him of Soziel Lorfeign’s coup. With Vivictus under Soziel’s sway, many rebellious family members would consider him the newly acting master of House Mallus. Sigula fled just before agents of the King sacked his villa and slew his servants.

He now roams the frontier outside the capital, looking for a way to release his brother from mental slavery. Being an architect and engineer of over three hundred years, his knowledge of Cliffside’s construction and weaknesses puts him in a unique position to access the city, but to what end? He is an old vampire, lacking the strength and fighting prowess of his brother, and all his familial assets are frozen by the new government in Cliffside.

His only other hope, besides releasing his brother, would be to brave the undercity of Cliffside in search of the Colossus of Mal, a giant golem made of pure diamond once used to slay dragons. Legend says it will wake at the call of a pureblooded Mallus and with it Sigula may yet see his city liberated.

2. Palan’Dir of House Dir

Palan’Dir had nearly achieved the rank of Master Weaponsmith with his creation of the warshears, large scissors adapted for practical fighting. His final task as an apprentice was to take his warshears into battle, proving to Master Weaponsmith Hon’Dir that he was ready to be accepted into the fold. While hunting grobolds in the Redmoon Peaks, Soziel took Cliffside. Palan rushed back and discovered his House, the weaponsmiths included, was now under the sway of the King.

Determined to see House Dir restored, Palan searches ardently for the lost Vambrace of Lithna, a legendary artifact once worn by the vampire hero Ver’Dir. With it, Palan could take on the entire city guard, perhaps the King himself. Yet thus far he’s had no success. The artifact could be anywhere. And he’s getting desperate, having frequent nightmares about what cruel slavery King Soziel has forced upon Master Hon’Dir or his father, Galen’Dir. The only thing keeping Palan going is the distant hope that Master Hon’Dir, his father, and he may one day be reunited to bring down their new sovereign.

3. Ava Delanthe of House Delanthe

Ava Delanthe was tending the human gardens to the south of Cliffside, picking the choicest creatures for an upcoming feast, when Soziel crowned himself and took the capital. While the last few rebel skirmishes were fought, many led by her family, Ava wisely hung back, using her cattle as a shield when fighting spilt onto her property.

Realizing her House Mistress Lilith Delanthe was now a slave to the King’s control, Ava decided to restore her house… in a manner of speaking. Ava seeks the King’s mind-controlling artifacts for herself, so that she might be the First Queen of the Vampires. A long-shot dream, Ava knows, but at the very least she could assassinate Lilith and take the position of House Mistress. Whether or not she’ll ever free her family’s minds relies on her fickle whim.

Make Your Own Character:

4. of House Drajltoc

House Drajltoc is a clan renown for its proud tradition of dragonhunters. One of its brighter sons burnt out when Jekl Drajltoc, who had reputedly developed an addiction to dragon blood from his many kills, died at the talons of the evil dragon, Dominus Skyblinder, during the Dominion-Istari War, throughout which the house suffered many losses.

Since then, House Drajltoc had been steadily rebuilding their forces, instilling in their young ones that same thirst for dragonblood that coursed through Jekl's veins. Drajltoc has an intense rivalry with house Gyhenna, a house of pyromancers who used to harbor young dragons in the Redmoon Peaks in exchange for a lifelong alliance and an exchange of pyromantic knowledge with the intelligent beasts.

That rivalry puts Gyhenna in a more and more precarious position as the dragonslayers, for whatever reason, are placed in powerful positions in King Lorfeign's court.

5. of House Calalas

House Calalas has long been at the forefront of goings on of the Church of Lithna. Since before the Blood War, a Calalas has held a position as Grand Cardinal and High Priest of Lithna. In fact, instead of using the hereditary rule employed by most houses, the ruler of the house is chosen by whoever occupies that coveted seat. For this reason, many of Calalas' sons and daughters choose to take up the chalice.

At this point in the story, the House Father, Druclo Calalas, remains in Tir'Buk as the new king of Cliffside assumes power in the Redmoon peaks. His house was effectively severed in two when many of his relatives who resided in Cliffside were summoned to Lorfeign's court. Lorfeign then coronated Cardinal Vinright Calalas the rightful leader of House Calalas.

6. of House Ruiz

The Sea is Merciless. House Ruiz is the most blacklisted of all the major Houses, often labeled pirates and thieves (though never to their faces). While true that House Ruiz gained almost its entire fortune through plunder and pillage, their history of buccaneering has made them hot commodity along the red coastlines between Cliffside and the jungle city Tir’Buk. Not only are they the premier naval captains in times of war, but also top-notch mercenaries in times of “peace”. Ruiz hire themselves out for exorbitant amounts to transport valuables and important persons, guard merchant galleys, or harass other ships.

Besides their colorful, almost gaudy personalities, Ruiz are known for their unusual first names. Longsaber, The Bone, and Pearl-Face are some of the more famous Ruiz on the seas. At birth, each Ruiz is simply called mate or lass until they earn their name, usually during their first adventures.

Since King Soziel’s ascension, House Ruiz has been split, as half their family resided in Cliffside and the other in Tir’Buk. Those under the control of Soziel now act as an official vampire navy under Admiral Gorebeard Ruiz, while those still free in Tir’Buk rally under his dashing nephew Red-Eye Ruiz’s flag.

OOC: I'll be co-dming this here venture with Dragna.

Come on, if there are any interested parties at all, feel free to jump in now. If you don't, Dragna will be angry and he'll make poor, poor Lectus play all six characters single handedly *pitiful sounds*.

If it makes anyone feel better about joining, by all means post a character sheet. We're still not 100% certain on the procedure of starting a thread on these boards, but the view count doesn't lie. Someones reading our stuff. Why not partake?
