It will be set up as if our characters are celeberties in an awards show, much like the grammies or the oscars. Your nominated char must accept the award, and yes you can give a little speach! Now this thread is solely for ideas for what catergories we all would like to see. Once the catagories are agreed on we will nominate people, then vote. I haven't decided wither will vote here or to an e-mail, but don't have to make that desicion till we get that far. Once I have the finalized winners I will start the IC thread! Also if some people would like to volenteer to be "Guest Presentors" at the awards let me know! So give me what you got, keep it in the CoC, and I'll update this first post as needed! A great, big thank you goes to Ruthia for taking on this challenge! :) I do have some rather important things to go over, and I hope in my sleepy stupor I'm able to say it all coherently. :zzz: First, I hope everyone is looking forward to these awards - but with keen curiosity rather than great ambitions of winning half the awards, or even any one of them. Doing a MOTP awards is a fantastic idea that definitely stirs up my interest (and no doubt the interest of a lot of other folks) - but the last thing I want to see come out of it is players feeling hurt that they didn't win in a certain category they were nominated for, or didn't even get nominated for a category they thought they should have been in. The reason for my concern is I noticed a lot of upset people after the results for the Urza Awards were posted, and I'd hate to see that sort of animosity carry over to our pleasant MOTP boards. So, please remember - It's perfectly alright and quite understandable to look forward to these awards. But approach them as something that you find interesting and not something you have to succeed at or you and your RP characters are garbage. After all, you shouldn't need an award to know you're a solid role-player! As long as you're having fun, and you see other people around you having fun - you know you're doing a great job! :) - Eidrog Now, Having said that, I BETTER WIN AT LEAST A THIRD OF EM!!! :ahem: ME! You know the type, A villian who really should be a side kick cause they don't have enough brains to be the main villian. Now there are only a handfull of these out there, but I'm sure someone can find a few. how about Most Indepth Character Personality? Good Idea....Added. What do you mean exactly with the avatar? Do you mean actual avatar for your account, or like the one's you put in every post? I'm going to answer this one. I think in this case it could mean both. See Characters like Luika, Piper, Agudo, and anything done by Chris/Gord have the small character drawings where as Chars like my group have just regualr old Wizards Avatars that I feel fits them nicely. So it could be both at once, idea Added. I'm revamping the first post, so make sure you check up there. I'll add most of the ideas, then weed out the ones I don't feel there would be enough nomianations for. |

Maybe three innkeepers at best if I remeber right and I feel that if it's going to be in here I want it to be able to have lot's on nominations and make the choices even harder for the voters. Most of the areas I have picked I myself can think of at least five people for. How should we nominate? Here? Or through email. Here please. But no nominations till I say it is time. Also I would prefer it if everyone only nominates once per catergory. Nominations will be done in the following format please. This will make it easier on me. Catagory/Character Voting will be done through e-mail. Also, please only vote once per PLAYER! I don't want people with mulitipuly chars voting more then once just because they think they can. Of Course I am hoping that with the good people we have here, none of the problems I have mentioned in any of my post will happen. You guys/gals are better then all that :D Best school... cough cough I pulled this one also. I mean there really is only one school thread, and if Agudo's head gets any bigger we're going to have to put an escape hatch on the roof of the award center to get him in and out. (some of them are very close to what's already been posted. . . eep.) OOC-The player awards! Most Enjoyable Character to Interact With Whether they're kind, witty, grumpy, or funny some characters are just a blast to interact with. These characters open the door for interesting opportunities for other characters to respond to and are very receptive to the input other characters give them. In short, they're very enjoyable to interact with. Most Indepth Character Personality What quirks does a character have? What strengths does he posses? What are his flaws? Characters are made up of all sorts of different elements, very good characters blend all these elements together to create a very indepth personality. Most Indepth Character Background Every character has a background story, some of which are incredibly well thought-out with good attention to detail. Often times these histories are tactfully alluded to in flash backs, conversation, other characters that surround the character, and how the character acts. Best played-up Stereotype There are all sorts of stock characters and personalities out there, the kind that are easy to identify with because we're so familiar with them. Although stereotype characters can often be labeled as "unoriginal," there are many that are quite well done and creatively presented. Superb Writer There are those of us on these boards who wish we could write like professional authors. . . and those of us who can. This award would be for the one's who can. Greatest Cast of Diverse Characters A player's cast of character's should not be judged by just it's sheer volume alone, but also by each character and what makes each one special and unique. This category is suggested as a way of broadening Lord Terran's suggestion for Most Characters, as it is open to more interpretation. (Rather than being a statistic, which really cannot be voted on.) Most Suggested Awards so he could win them Award ;) IC awards: Most Heroic Hero Really, a playful way of saying Best Hero Most Villainous Villain A playful way of saying Best Villain Best Low Level Characters that are still learning their skills and are relatively new to adventuring. Best Mid Level Characters that are veteran adventurers with highly developed talents and skills. Best High Level Characters that have mastered, or nearly mastered their talents down to a science. Best Epic Characters that have passed the threshold into EPIC, and exhibit truly amazing power. Best Romance There have been so many romantic scenes between characters that I thought it deserved a category. Two characters should be identified, unless the circumstance calls for more. Best Team of 2 Characters Not Romantically. This includes duos that work well together. Best Battle On the Map of the Planes there is often conflict and danger. This category could include fights just between two characters, or also include any battle scene that has occurred on the Map of the Planes. Serious Award For Characters that are serious in their resolve and don't fool around. Comedic Award For Characters that are just the opposite! Cute Award For delightful characters that exhibit a cute quality about them. Alignment Awards: Adopting the D&D method of labeling a character's general morals and personal attitudes. The Good Award (Not necessarily the best Hero) The Evil Award (Not necessarily the best Villain) The Neutral Award The Lawful Award The Chaotic Award (Remember, chaotic doesn't just mean insane, it can also mean free-spirited) Class Awards: Listing them all for the sake of completeness, albeit they may not all receive nominations. THe innkeepers I can think of off hand are Chris Seluneson John Sharson Pintel Whatever orcslayer's innkeeper was called Kulideb And I know there are more that I just can't think of. Maybe it would be best to expand best innkeeper to best shopkeeper, which would includes inns, taverns, shops, etc. There are too many such people to exclude it as a character award. |

Ruthia's point about the best inn keeper award being limited to only a select few players is very true. So I could go either way on it, for or against. I don't think it would hurt to give the innkeers some recognition, but at the same time other players may feel robbed they they didn't get an award tailored for them. So, in Ruthia we must trust. Speaking of tailored awards, the Best Dressed award was only suggested as an in character novelty. Now I might suddenly change my mind and vote Khaira rather then Kheldar because I really feel she is the best one for tha award. See what I mean?? Plus nominating online always others to see who has been nominated already, so that they don't nominate the same person. | ruthia05-25-05, 10:35 AM | :P ;) I think I found a new award. But this one will be like the "People's Choice" Awards that are voted on during the ceromony. The GRANDEST ENTRANCE award! Oh and speaking of which...... The new days sun sparkled over the people gathered to watch the star Characters enter the awards building. So far they had been dazzled by the Beautiful Khaira, stunned into to silence by the traitorous Piper, and galled into merriment by the grand Agudo and his trusted companion Lady Hoot. Surely, they all thought, there would be none who could top those entrances. Just then a shadow blocked the sun. Startled they crowd looks up as one to see what had happened. In the suns brilliant glow they can see the shape of a dragon, wings outstretched as if it was fixing to land. Screaming several run away in fear, though a few brave ones choose to watch and see what happens. As the dragon lands the sun sparkles off it's brilliantly shiny scales, reflecting back a rainbow of colors that stun and awe the spectators, making it impossible to tell the dragons true color. With a flash of light that blinds those watching this color display, the dragon seems to melt away revealing in its place a small-framed human. Dressed in a flowing white gown that perfectly matches her waist length white hair that seems to frame her face in a glowing halo, Ruthia delicately steps towards the buildings entrance. Laughing and clapping the people delight in the entrance of the shy white dragon woman. And you all thought I couldn't do it :P |

(Psuedodragon Illusionist 5/ Cleric of Hlal 5/ Mystic Theurge 10) The doors open, but noone enters. A few minutes are spent in confusion. But suddenly, a massive roar, and an even bigger stream of fire erupt out of nowhere. Scorch marks mark the pathway that lead to the poduim. Out of the fire comes a regal procession: Silver dragons the size of large horses lead the way, carrying a planequin marked with rich blue fabrics and dotted with all sorts of sparkling gems. Riding the panequin is a small red dragon, dressed with a gold chain and a radiant purple cape, young Kito Liadon. Behind him is an even more impressive sight: A gold dragon is letting out blasts of fire. This fire, however, does not burn, instead, it explodes into colorful fireworks, flying around in shades of silver, gold, bronze, and copper. When they approach the building, Kito neatly flies down. With a flourish, the dragons and planequin vanish, they were naught but illusion. The illusions dissolve into golden dust, catching the rays of the sun as they fly upward into the sky. |
| rom05-25-05, 09:10 PM | my turn! heh. (Dwarf---sorta....fighter 10/loon 10....don't worry....ye'll understand) Appearance: Short....even for a dwarf...if it is a dwarf. One might believe it would perhaps be a rather stocky gnome instead. He....(it?) wears a suit of full plate mail. Now....one can call it full plate mail, because it covers his body...completely. However...none of the pieces of the armor matches another piece....it appears to be a miss-matched....put-together-randomly suit of armor....the colors ranging from white to bright greens and reds to blacks and silvers. Amazingly, the armor seems to hold together rather well, dispite the discontinuity of part sizes. His left foot seems to be at least 3 inches longer than his right, for instance. A belt wraps around where his waist would be, at least a half dozen pouches hanging from it. His is armed....sort of. He weilds a large iron skillet. It looks worn, from cooking as well as bashing, and judging by the dents in the skillet and his armor, he has either seen many battles, been thrown out of many kitchens, or fallen down many flights of stairs. The strangest part, perhaps, might be his helm. It covers his head, and has eye holes, ear holes, and a mouth hole. There the similarities between what he wears and a normal helm part ways. First and formost, the "helm" is actually a large wooden bucket. Peering out of the rough hewn eye holes are a pair of wide open eyes. One ear peeks out of the ear hole, and the cut out for the mouth reveals only his wirey black beard which seems to be kept in place by the bucket. Tied to either side of the "helm" are a pair of branches in a poor attempt to replicate horns. One branch stands straight up, while the other, a good foot longer than the first, sticks out and forward. a typical entrance: As the patrons go about their patronly ways, a loud crash can be heard from outside, as if something hit the door at a rather high rate of speed. Muffled cursing can be heard as a heavy body hits the ground. Then silence...at least for a moment or two...then the door shakes violently as someone attempts to push it open, and fails. another moment passes, then the door creaks, being pulled open. A muffled giggle is heard then a small figure appears. Wearing mismatched plate mail armor and wearing a wooden bucket on its head, the figure ambles in, making about 4 steps before tripping over its own feet and tumbling forward, rolling across the floor, stopped by a pillar. It rattles off a stream of dwarven curses as it flops around on its back, like some deranged turtle. Finally, if not helped by a patron, the little figure finds its feet and begins to pull off the "helm," only to find it stuck fast over his head. It wrenches it this way, then that. Suddenly it comes off. A large wirey black beard springs out, thwapping the poor creature in the face, sending it staggering backwards. It hangs the "helm" on a hook on the armor and begins to argue with the beard, eventually managing to get it tucked into the belt. The figure, now pretty easily identifyable as a dwarf-ish thing, ambles over to the bar and looks up at the tender. "Rom want ale!" |

Kheldar's arm snaps out of his cloak and points directly up, towards the large, looming title of the thread, OOC: Taking suggestions for the first ever MoP Awards. "This is the Out of Character Thread!!! You guys can't exist here! If those stuffy players ever found out about this they'd be in an uproar!!!" Kheldar looks about in all directions to make sure none of those said players were around. "Shouldn't we be entering the auditorium once the actual in-character thread starts up?!? And what are those demons and devils doing here side-by-side?!?!? Didn't anyone do any looking up into the Blood War?!? Those things hate each other!! Off in the distance the disturbing, gigantic form of an Eidrog (CR: Total party kill, click here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=146799&page=8&pp=30) for details, page 8) emerges, it's never-drawn-the-same-way-twice body angrily jittering and boiling. With another humongous stride it stands above everyone, unfocused eyes mindlessly scanning for transgressors of the wizard's boards. Precariously, it starts poking around. it's thin, jaggity fingers stabbing alarmingly close to everyone until finally it stops inches away from almost impaling little Kito. A stupid expression of delight plays all over the Eidrog's face and it stands there motionless listening to a play only it could hear. Then it rears up and exclaims proudly with it's roaring, booming voice: FINAL FANTASY IS AN RPG! THE ONLY ONE THAT I NEED! IT'S THE RPG FOR MEE!! In hideous gales of mad laughter it dances away to go show it's friends, only tearing down a third of the awards auditorium as it retreats. |

Raising his hands high, the Red Wizard barks out a punishment spell, to grab the two arguing entities attention. "Will you two stop bickering, your ruining my reputation! How am I supposed to conquer the planes if the public see's that I can't even control my minions! Just for this, I'll have the both of your essences torn out and ripped to shreds. Then try to get back to the material plane in a couple hundred years!" Turning around, he points one slender figure out at Kheldar, and narrows his eyes. "And you! Don't you think I know what the Blood Wars are. I don't need some pompous rogue to tell me what to do! Why, they don't even know why they starting fighting in the first place!" As quickly as he entered, Piper opens up a dimensional door and steps through vanishing, though not before giving a swift kick to the smiling Agudo, and a venous glare to the enamored bardess and her hulking, foul smelling, roc that so happened to land right next to him. In the distance you can hear the mage mumbling something about giant Eidrogs and E3 fan boys. |

The awards ceremony itself won't be held for another couple of weeks. The committee is still awaiting nominations from our many lords and ladies across the realms. If you know of anyone you'd wish to nominate sir, they would gladly accept nominations over there." Tyrion pointed to an assembled group of people. "The rules are you may nominate as many people in each category as you see fit, you are not limited to just nominating one person per award. You may not nominate yourself in any category. . . Unless, of course, you are contesting for the acclaimed biggest EGO award. During the Awards Ceremony there will be a special award given for the Grandest Entrance. The drow female then stretches, cat-like, unfolds her legs from where they'd been resting, ankles crossed, on top of the seat in front of her, and stands. She strolls back to her own thread, thoroughly bored by these bloodless kivvilen attempts at theatrics even if the place is a useful resting spot from the on-going battle. But a careful observer might notice a wink to the Quigleys and a momentary shifting of the illusionary form to that of a brown-haired human, dressed more as a rogue than anything else, before the white hair and black armor of the drow fighter returns and the whole figure vanishes. |

Voting is now open. It will remain open untill June 17, midnight EST. On June 18 I will ask my counters ((You know who you are!)) to at some point login to the e-mail account and count up the votes. If we were to vote for more than one, it would just make sense to declare everyone nominated for their category the winners. But, since the goal of this thread is to highlight the actions of individuals (or, in some cases, duo's), I would think only one vote per category. That's what make this so hard; with all the great roleplayers and characters we have here, is going to be extremely hard to decide! Of course, I only speak for myself, and do not take the pretense to know what Mistress Ruthia desires.:) |

These are also general rules for the thread itself.... 1. any CHARACTER who is participating in the thread may VOTE for who gets this award. 2. only ONE character per PLAYER may enter this award. So for those of us with mulitple chars, pick the one you feel makes the best entrance and us that char. 3. You may have as many chars as you want in the thread itself. 4. But these chars must respect others, IE. You can boo or hiss or even put down another char if that is what your character would normally do. You MAY NOT try to control anothers actions unless you have worked it out ahead of time. 5. no hijacking my thread. I'll run it they way I want to, if I feel something you have done is to out of line for what I am trying to do then I will kick you out. All entrances to the hall have bouncers at them ;) . 6. There were several ties. In some cases it was just a case of eliminating the ones who voted for themselves. In other case one of the three of us volutarily dropped our characters/threads out of the catergory. And in a few cases it was given to a particular character/player in order to make the diversity of awards fair. Now thats not saying that there isn't one player who got more awards then the rest, cause trust me there is. But anyways, Chris and Gord said they'd help present awards. Anyone else??
