(OOC: Yes this is a companion thread to Acaed's thread similarly named. I am looking for mages specifically to help in the war in Eliiya. If you have a wizard char and want to join please read the set up and setting below and then post a char into of your own :))

Will they come?

Alighan sat in near total darkness. One candle burned upon the table beside her, illumining the pages of the book before her, and casting strange shadows across the dark bruises on her face.

The runes on the page seemed to dance in the dull glow. A complex spell lay before her. Her full intent was not upon it. One Wizard alone, no matter how powerful could face the evil rising in Eliiya, the land she had come to love as her home...where she lived with her beloved, Acaed. Blind A tear escaped down her cheek. She sniffed and swiped it quickly away. There was no time for feelings now, only for action.

A breeze blew in through her window. The candle guttered. She rose and went and looked out of her tower down into the tree tops of the Vale below. To this place, to Halderas, her home of old where her tower still stood, she had called Wizards to rally...

There was a battle to be fought and much to be done and she would need the skills of many powerful mages if they were to have any hope. In mage schools, in guildhalls, in inns, she had left word. But who will come? She layed her bare left hand on the cold stone of the window sill, her wedding band caught the moonlight and gleamed. She forced her eyes form the bright ring and out into the woods, to the path leading to the tower.

Who would come?

Alighan left the stone sill and returned to her book.

Hours passed and no sound broke the stillness but the faint whisper of wind in the trees outside, and then soft rustle of turning pages.

The candle burned low. She sighed. Will anyone come?

A single knock drifts up to the lady waiting in the tower from below.

A wind whistles through the trees; a chill wind springs up.

After several minutes, a single knock comes again.

If the lady should perchance look outside of the window, she can see a man below, standing in front of the door. He is about the age of 26, with long brown hair tied back in a pony tail. He carries a staff with runes inscribed into it, ones of protection and warding. He is dressed in travelling robes of a midnight blue-ish hue.

If she does look down, he looks up at that exact same moment, catching her eye.

He waits, to be let in.

In moment the stone door at the base of the tower swings slowly outwards...

The tap of a wooden staff upon stone issues from the dark shadows within. Moonlight catches the toe of a soft leather boot...the hem of a greyish brown robe...

Alighan said stepped out into the light. Her hood was up so as to hide what her last battle had wrought upon her face. her gloved right held her Rune carved oaken staff what stood half her own height taller than she. Her bare left hand rested at her side. "Who are you, and what do you here?"

In spite of the man's appearance she had no definite cause to assume he was here to heed her call.

"I am here, madam," the mage replies, "to assist in any way I can on this war in Elyiia. I heard murmurs of a powerful wizardress calling for mages from a crowd in a nearby plane. I know what it is to be in a position such as this, and I heeded the call."

The mage bows. "Joas Rupha, Elemental Mage, at your service."
Traveler

10-30-03, 10:41 AM
She appraises him silently a moment and then nods taking another step forward. "My name is Alighan Damon. Welcome," she says pushing pack her hood, letting the moonlight cast her bruises in stark relief. "I have just come from another war on another plane. I left the battle in capable hands there, to face the threat in Eliiya....my home."

She pauses a moment looking past Joas downthe road, hoping to see another traveler there...
Joas Rupha

10-31-03, 08:19 AM
He sees her look, and he looks down at the road.

"I am, sorry to say, mi'lady, but I am travelling alone and have seen no one coming along this road for many, many miles."

He looks up, catching her gaze again.

"But I am here now, to aid you in any way I can."

A sad expression comes over her features as she looks back at him. Through it, she smiles. "For that I am greatful."

She steps back in the doorway. "Come inside."
Rapheal

11-01-03, 11:22 PM
Far, far down the road a shadow moves. A short while later a figure can be seen moving through the shadows of the road at a moderate pace, seemingly in no hurry to get anywhere. The figure approaches a place in the road where a path cuts across and seems to be heading for that path, but stops. The figure looks in the direction of the tower, then the path. Decided the figure moves towards the tower....

She catches movement in the corner of her eye and turns back to the road.

She waits...
Rapheal

11-01-03, 11:36 PM
As the figure approaches details become clearer. Average height and build are the easiest features to see, as well as something shadowy moving behind him. He appears to be carrying no weapons of any sort, not even a staff. Finally he makes it to the tower door where the Lady is already greeting her first guest. With a slight bow of respect in the ladies direction a deep voice asks

"Is this the place from which the askings of assistance originated?"

The shadow behind the figure moves again, this time though it is identifiable. The person before you has a tail of some sort.
Traveler

11-02-03, 12:04 AM
"It is." She studies the new figure a moment. "And who are you who sought it?"
Rapheal

11-02-03, 09:03 AM
The figure raises his hands and lowers his cloak hood revealing the face of a wolf with startling blue eyes that seem to sparkle with some unknown mischief. Once again he gives a slight bow of his head, ears forward, then says

"My name? I am Rapheal, a sorcerer from another dimension. I have traveled here to help the cause, if you will allow me.”

He stands quietly, awaiting her response. His ears swivel towards the other male figure that is also standing outside, his tail swishing back and forth as he waits.

She was not familiar with the word dimension so used. "You are a sorcerer from another plane, I see that. Tell me, to what People do you belong?"
Gellaenen

11-02-03, 04:31 PM
A flash of silvery fire interrupts the moment, and an elf emerges from the flames. Dressed in a black robe, with silver piping and markings, his hair appears to me almost pure silver, and his face is slightly pale. His eyes, though shaped in the traditional elven almond shape, have a draconic appearance. A staff is in his left hand, the crystal topping it appears to shift colors occassionally. He looks around and nods.

"I am Gellaenen"
Rapheal

11-02-03, 05:20 PM
When the next person arrives in a flash of silvery fire, Rapheal's ears go back flat against his head, and he blinks his eyes several times before he answers the ladies question.

"Use, um another Plane as you say. This place I am from is called Earth, my race of people are called Mutants. We are a people who where once human and have been transformed into animal forms by" He pauses here, ears swiviling back and forth a little as he tries to think of the word "something they call an Experiment. I personally never remeber being human, I only learned this through my caregiver as I grew. He is the one who taught me sorcery."

He pauses now and looks at the others now. Giving a respectful bow, Rapheal steps backwards a little so the others may introduce themselves.
Traveler

11-02-03, 07:34 PM
She has yet to come across a plane that isn't essentially called Earth, but her puzzlement at his terminology is cut short by the appearance of... "Hello Gellaenen," She says doing something of a double take. "News travels far and fast it seems."

She looks at Gellaenen, back to Raphael, and finally back at Joas, giving a polite pause for any further desired introductions.
Joas Rupha

11-03-03, 08:00 PM

Steam rises from the warm bath, as the mage slowly lowers himself even deeper than before; were only his chin and top of his head show. Hoot is on the rafters sleeping, with her feathers slowly ruffling in the warm damp room.

When suddenly a pigeon courier named (Email) arrives, through the open window; and lands on the rim of the tub. The chambermaid try’s to shoo the new bird, but it merely ignores her. Agudo who is nearly a sleep is now forced to open one eye.

”Its ok me Lady, I believe this courier has a message for me.”

The bird gives the message magically, so that only the Archmage can read or hear it.

“Oh my!… Hoot this is disappointing news.”

Hoot opens her eyes, and looks down on the now rising, and with the exception of soap; covering key body parts, the “naked” Agudo.

”I am afraid the orphanage we wanted to build in this poor city, has been rejected by local Mayor! … She says that the “rift raft” would only multiply more; knowing that they could dump their children, at this government (tax money black hole.)”

”We must speak with the mayor immediately”

As the mage puts one foot out side the tub, it lands nicely on a large soap bar and with the floor being wet; causes Agudo Archmage of Light, to fly across the now slippery room and…

A plump washwoman was just pining up her laundry, when she just happens to look up.
With a fright she screams, as the soapy and naked Wizard, comes flying out the third story window.

With his hands flapping trying to fly, most people would think he was screaming, for help when they saw his mouth moving. Yet to any trained spell caster, it was obvious that he was casting a spell.

Just before that plump woman and Agudo would become romantically involved, a portal opens up.

Agudo the Archmage of Light, could only hope that wherever he landed, it would be soft.

Flying out the window after him, and just before the portal closed; was Hoot the white owl and loyal friend. She was caring Agudo blue/white robes, sandals, bag and magic staff.

The chambermaid stuck her head out the window, and yelled down to her friend the washwoman did you see the Archmage of Light?

The washwoman yelled back with a grin on her face…

{IN ALL THE LIGHTS NAKED GLORY)!!!!

((>>>>>>>Continued from the post above>>>>>>>>))

The wind was slowly picking up, and the clouds moved ever so pleasantly past the moon.
When suddenly magical energy can be since by all who have such power.
A portal of many colors opens above the tower, and something..or is it someone? Falling through.

“Ahhhhhh”
BAMMMM!

Whatever it was, it just hit the roof, and was still moving down the side of the tower.

“Ouch….oh noooo!..Ahhhhh”

SLAM…CRASH!

“loooookkk oooouuuutttt”

SPLLLLAAAAAATTT!

The impact on the muddy ground, sends mud everywhere, in the middle of a small hole was a half naked man. With tan skin and long blond hair, he slowly raises his head, and promptly spits out mud.

“ By the Light this is embarrassing.”

A few seconds latter a lovely white owl lands, holding a blue and white robe, sandals, a bag and a wizards staff toped with a blue jewel of some type.

Inside and up the stairs she led Joas, Raphael and Gellaenen. She illuminated their dark and winding way with a small globe of light she causes to hover above the edge of her staff.

At length they reach a point in the stairs somewhat lower than the top. She makes a gesture with her staff and a door appears in the stone of the stairwell. She opens it. Beyond is a dark space. She points her staf upward and mutters a word. The globe of light left the egde of her staff and lit upon a brazier of sorts hanging from the roof's ceiling. The light scattered and became a series of ghostly candles that actually appeared to be slowly melting, the flames undulating.

The room is small and a little bit close, with a tall ceiling but no windows. There is a table in its center, around it several high back chairs.

Alighan walks in, beckoning the others to follow.

(OOC: Note to Agudo, there is a lockout on telelportation and portalling in the tower vale. That means if Agudo theoretically got portaled there the portal would be diverted to a spot nearby. Lol, I think his situation just got a little funnier. Good job on that count, btw.)

Lady Hot gives his cloths to him, and smiles like only an enchanted owl can.
“Somewhere alive, by sure luck or the Light above. As far as what Realm well?”

He stands up and quickly covers his unmentionables, seeing he is all soapy and muddy at the same time. The wizard quickly mumbles a few words and with sparkle of blue/white light he becomes clean….but still naked.

“Now thank the Light that no one of the wizard guild saw that!
I would be very embarrassing, to say the least.”

Lady Hoot chuckles
“I am sure the wash lady wont say anything, back at the city we just left”

After a few minutes of cleaning himself off and gathering his barings. The Archmage of Light, lifts Lady Hoot on his shoulder, and looks around.

“I must say it is rather late, and it’s starting to get a trifle cold. Shall we knock on the door and see who is home.?”

The white owl turns her head practically all away around, as she looks at everything. Then just as quickly returns her attention to Agudo.

“After your giant knock… or should I say bounce, on their roof; and lets just say less than dignified landing on the ground. I would have thought, they would send out an army by now.”

Agudo coughs with some embarrassment.
“I cast that spell at the last moment…it..it ..was that or become one with the washwoman! To be honest I don’t think my wife would understand.”

Lady Hoot smiles at the thought,.
“Well then wisdom dictates that knocking after all the noise we made would be a waste of time. Sooo wizard, open the door!”

Agudo mumbles out loud as he follows her advice.
“Let us pray we don’t get our heads chopped off, by those inside thinking were here to rob the place.”

Agudo knocks anyway and trys opening the door.
{If successful?} then he yells out inside the tower, but still near the front door……

“Hello! Is anyone at home? We are a couple of lost travelers seeking shelter”

{If he can’t open the door} Then he says this….

“Hello were a bunch of religious people trying to convert you!… Normally at the worst time, when you’re in the bathtub!”

He says that more as a joke for Hoot and himself as he hopes someone opens the door.

"Now to ther reason for my message..." she begins and then the knock sounds followed by a most ridiculous statement regarding religion and bathtubs.

The black mage Drakun, commander general of the necrosummoners of Legion in Eliiya has been revived. By themselves the necrosummoners are capable of raising demonic armies with a word. Now with Drakun and his partron deity behind them, they may ovverun the realm if left unchecked."

After a few minutes he looks over to Hoot.
“Maybe your right, if someone was home they would have heard us by now.”

Lady Hoot thinks for a moment.
“We need shelter for the night, if no one is in, then it may be necessary to use some Rogue skills on this door.”

Agudo frowns
“I don’t want to make anyone mad at us, yet it is emergency. For after that fall, I am in no condition search in the night for another place.”

He bends over a little and try’s a few basic spells on the door handle. As well as one or two magical lock picks.

“Why don’t you fly around and see what’s you can through the upper windows.”

Lady Hoot takes off with her white wings, fluttering in the air. She pears around several locations, up the high tower making mental notes off anything she sees.

Agudo thinks for a moment then smiles and mumbles out loud.
“Well this may not work, but a wizard calling himself the Gray…Something?

Agudo waits for a moment, raises his hands and in a loud voice ….

Alighan grinned. "Never mind. In the meanwhile I suggest we establish what resources are available to us."

Jaegofen waited a full minute on the other side of the door before opening it for Agudo and then swung it wide....

...before Agudo stands a tall man in sappire blue magerobes what sparkle with embedded diamonds. He has long black hair, a black goatee, a thin face and dry grin.

"Odd, you don't look like a mage," he said in a deep voice, an unkind smirk on his decidedly sinister looking features.

It took Agudo a second or two before he realized that his knuckles were hitting air.
“Oh my! Greeting good sir, I am….What did you say?…. Really!?!”

The Archmage of Light was truly speechless, for what Jaegofen had said to him.

“I must say thank you!”
Agudo smiles Jaegofen, for a long moment, flattered by his kind words.

“You’re the first person, in all my two hundred years, to tell me that I don’t look like a wizard. In fact it is always the opposite, with some snide comment, about my big floppy mage hat or gaudy magic rings.”

The Light mage gives a small tip of his hat in thanks.

“Anyway good sir, allow me to introduce myself. I am Agudo the Archmage of Light and Headmaster of the school of Light, just down road..or is it a Realm or two?”

Agudo has a perplexed look on his face.

“ To be honest sir I am lost and in need of shelter, for you see after a truly last minute spell. I ended up at your tower. I will of course work for my stay. I will use my magic to defend this tower from evil, if the need arises. Also I am very able body, willing to help in any good cause you may have.”

Agudo stops for a moment then grimaces.
“If that doesn’t work, then I can do manual labor inside the tower for my stay, such as cleaning and cooking….Please?”

At the invitation of Jaegofen, Agudo entered the enchanted tower; he took off his hat and held it in his hand.

“This is a wonderful tower, that you have here…um..sir…um.. may I know your name and are you the owner?”

As the door starts to close, a hand stops it.

"Not so fast, good sir, there is another out here who seeks entrance. If this is indeed the place that has sent out the request for magical aid? I find myself at loose ends, and I'm interested in hearing your proposition."

Looking out, Jaegofen and Agudo see a human with a pleasant smile on his face. He's tall and lean, with dark brown hair and greenish eyes, dressed in a white shirt with a heavy black vest, black pants and boots. He carries a dagger but no staff, though there's a stick tucked into his belt that's about a foot long and the thickness of a man's thumb.

"Varnevian D'Saer, at your service."

"But of course, if you're full up, if you have all the aid you need, then let me know and I'll be off. No need to waste your time, good sir."

Feeling rather dismissed and surprised, at the rude lack of response to his question.
He turns to Lady Hoot, who sits on his shoulder and shrugs.
“Well let’s just see what up stairs like he said”

With that they made their way to the top, and opened a door. Seeing several people Agudo tips his hat and gives a warm smile. He speaks in a deep but fatherly voice as if talking to a close friend.

“May the Light shine on you all, apparently I have been called, or so I have been told; by the man down staires. Allow me to introduce myself I am Agudo the Archmage of Light. And this lovely white owl is Lady Hoot.

He looks at her as he speaks.

Lady Hoot smiles like only an enchanted owl can do.
“We our travelers and bid you wisdom and peace, and I pray the same for us”

Agudo nods his head and takes out his corncob pipe, as he takes a seat with the others at the table. He light it and fills the room with a cinnamon sweet smell. Agudo takes a few more puffs then asks a direct question.

“I wondered what caused my spell to fail, and since I been summand may I know why? And by Whom those names belong too?”

He smiles once more looking at the others at the table.

Varnevian's smile somehow stays pleasant despite the apparent attempt to offer insult.

"Are you so very sure you know my type, sir? Perhaps, and then perhaps not. Consider, what if I am testing the nature of your company and who might be accepted to it?"

He shakes his head almost sadly,

"Ah, but in any case it would be a terrible thing if you turned away aid that might be the very piece required to turn the balance of your conflict. But if you are sure, very sure, certain to the depths of your soul and fully willing to take all responsibility for this, that you have no need of me... then I will leave."

The smile is still there on his face, but his eyes are suddenly very sharp indeed.

“Well yes the Agudo school of Light and Magic is a busy place these days. Yet as a traveler of the Realms, I am often away; so that I can do my research for my book into history.
I find it better to travel to see these places up close and personal.”

He bends down for a second, and takes out two books form his caring bag.
“I am happy to say both of my books have been published, one is called…

(History of the Realms by Agudo) and (Agudo’s Travel guide to the Reams)

He passes them out as a free gift and continues his conversation.
“As Lady Hoot is so found of saying I am a good humble wizard…Just not with my name!”

Lady Hoot smiles and nods her head, but lets Agudo continue.

“Now you look familiar?… Have we met before?… Is your name Alighan?…...
For you seem to know me and my school, yet forgive me for not being sure I meet so many people. Maybe I have just heard of you or by the Light know your name”
Rapheal

11-24-03, 11:20 AM
The wolfman's ears flick back and forth as he listens to all that is said. The this Archmage shows up and starts into a long winded speech that only an old man who knows not when to be quiet and listen would do. With an irratated little sigh Rapheal leans backwards in his chair, trying not to nod of as the old man contuniues to speak.
Gellaenen

11-24-03, 06:27 PM
the robed elf smiles as he lifts an eyebrow towards Agudo.

"perhaps your grasp of magic is not as good as you had previously thought?"

The elf chuckles and leans back in the chair slightly, his draconic eyes twinkling with humor.

She grins faintly. "Yes, Agudo, we have met before. Now are you or are you not here to help?"

Jaegofen continues to grin. "Clever, very clever indeed." His smile broadened. "Payment comes in gold from the High King of Eliiya I imagine, when the job is done."

He narrows his eyes appraisingly. "Like you, I'll be frank. This job may involve some things mere gold cannot compensate for...the balance is usually accounted for in an interest in the cause. Have you any?"
Varnevian D'Saer

11-24-03, 10:44 PM
Varnevian grins back. "I have an interest in many things other than gold. Artifacts, for instance. But also in testing my skills, disconcerting enemies, helping friends along, and even occasionally in doing the good deed, helping make the realms safer for, oh, I don't know... little children and puppy dogs."

He snorts lightly at the last part, but afterwards looks at Jaegofen with a more open expression.

"But what should matter to you is that I when I give my word, I keep it. If I take up this cause of yours, I won't back away till it's done. And while I may expect some recompense if it ends well, I also accept that the end for me may be death. Or worse, considering the circumstances."

Varnevian shrugs, then glances around at the uninhabited landscape.

"So in or out? Take me or not, sir. Third time is final, and I'm off to the nearest tavern if you keep me at your door any longer."

Just as Agudo got done speaking he noticed a fury-dog like creature sitting at the table.
It was growling slightly, and he wondered if it was fleas that were bothering the beast.

But before he could ask if the fury-dog man was Alighan pet familiar.
An Elvin mage spoke up, and questioned Agudo magical abilities.

The Light mage smiles back at the whimsical elf, and give a friendly tip of his hat, before speaking.

“Well to be honest, now that you mention it, I did learn the spell from one of those Sun Elves; and we know how mischief’s Elvis can be.”

Agudo winks at the Elf, at that moment Alighan spoke up, about being with them in their cause.

“Why yes my lady, I would be honored to join your adventure. I take it that its something to do with fighting evil, and the good-folk are endanger. Or some such classic historical moment, that takes a brave band of heroes; such as our selves to deal with the scourge….. In any case I am in!”

"Agudo, if that is how you feel about it, I daresay this is not the place for you at all."

There was a trace of steel behind her friendly smile.

***

Jaegofen bowed and stepped back extending his hand toward the winding stairway beyond. "The Lady awaits us."
Varnevian D'Saer

11-25-03, 02:15 PM
Varnevian bows politely back, hiding a large grin, and walks into the tower to the stairs. He glances back with a single query.

"The Lady... then you aren't the one that issued this call?"

Regardless of the answer, he turns and starts up the stairs, trusting that Jaegofen is unlikely to let Varnevian wander into any part of the tower other than the appropriate meeting room.

Alighan inclines her head politely to Varnevian when he arrives, not waiting for Agudo's answer.

"Welcome. Do take a seat. We were just about to discuss the our first course of action. I shall fill you in. But first, tell me. Do you know anything of the current trouble in Eliiya?"

Jaegofen walks in after Varnevian and leans in the doorway.
Varnevian D'Saer

Varnevian walks as easily into the room as if he were used to it and bows to Alighan with a bit of flourish, having quickly noted that she is the only "Lady" present.

Moving to an empty chair, he nods to the others gathered, then turns back to Alighan with a quick and pleasant expression but not quite a smile since the matters she talks about are serious.

"I have heard that there are troubles, but I confess my attention has recently been on other matters, dear lady. I would appreciate it greatly if you could give more details?"

Agudo smiled at Varnevian who walked in but let Alighan continue to speak with him. Untill she finally gave the answer he had asked before.

"Well now that clears some things up...Eliiya is it. Now I know a little about why we are here, I take it this has to do with The black mage Drakun. Roomer has it he’s been revived… But why now after all this time?"

Agudo leans back and ponders outloud

"For I saw of no prophesy in the ancient texts or omen from above. Never the less for som false god to go through such trouble, as to bring the dark mage back to life; must have some fiendish goal….But what?"

Rapheal opens one eye and looks at the Lady as she reexplains everything, one ear tilted towards her and the other towards that annoying old guy. Finally he speaks in a quiet voice that everyone seems to be able to hear with no problem.

"So between all of us, what resources do we have that could possible defeat this power?"

He seems to be making a general question to all.

Varnevian D'Saer

Varnevian listens to Alighan attentively, then cocks a brow at the wolfen mage. As the latecomer, he leans back casually to wait his turn, letting those here before him go first to see what information they're willing to share and using the opportunity to study each more closely. His gaze is kept light and non-intrusive but his eyes catch much, including the odd cast to Gellaenen's features and the suggestion of actual competance beneath Agudo's overly effusive nature.

((Heh, he also notices Agudo is not old at all. Don't go by the avatar.))
Rapheal

11-29-03, 09:11 AM
((;) I know he's not old, I just like making little jabs at him :D All in good fun Agudo pal! And I'm willing to bet you'll figure out who I am eventually. My compliments to the artiest.))

Rapheal's ears flick back and forth as he waits for others to answer, he doesn't feel it's his place to suggest first as he know not much of the menace that threatens, only what he has been told.

So many powerful people all gathered together in one room and yet they lack confidence in battling this threat to the Realms. Agudo didn’t say this outloud, but he was sure the others were thinking the samething.

Yet what really got him was that hairy beast kept eyeing him. What was it that it liked about me? Agudo frowned as he considered such questions. He then whispered to Hoot about moving to his other shoulder, away from the intelligent animal. Lady Hoot did so and wondered as well if this animal was part cat.

With that settled, the Light Mage thought to himself that this Varnevian, must be Bard like as well as magical, for his style says artist.

((OOC Its ok Varnevian, I know who Raphael is, were just having a little fun with each other. Normally were very friendly to each other….at least with the other characters that I encounter of this person….. But Varnevian is right about the picture… For a up-incoming great artist did this YOUNG Agudo and I am sure he takes great pride in it :tiphat: ))
Gellaenen

11-29-03, 04:55 PM
The silver haired elf runs a finger down the length of the staff hovering at his side, then stands and faces the gathered.

"I suggest that our host, " Motions to Alighan. "Give us a more detailed explanation of the situation, a run down of those we must face, and some sort of time frame for our projected campaign. Some of us, Myself at least, know nothing about this enemy or even the lands and possible allies at our diposal."

He pauses a moment, looking at the others before continuing.

"I know none of you, so I think it would be a good idea for each of us to inform the others what they can offer. For myself, I am rather skilled in the arcane and I can call upon an army to assist, assuming he is available."
Traveler

11-29-03, 05:42 PM
"Gellaenen makes an excellent point. What do we know about this foe? At the present, not very much.

She studied those present.

"This is of course, unacceptable. I daresay that it is beneath everyone present to walk into a situation such as the one before us without being completely prepared. Our first task, therefore, is to gather information. Detailed information."

She nodded to Jaegofen, who grinned back from his place in the doorway. He made a gesture of looking up and then a circular motion with his hands. She nodded in response.

"The thorough knowledge of what we face is the most important weapon we will have. Be your strength in spellcraft, innovation, or commanding legions, to do any of those blindly is worthless. Agreed?"

Gellaenen had made a good point, and the Archmage of Light was impressed, by this man astute understanding of the situation. Even Alighan saw the wisdom of his logic, and was prepared to admit the danger ,of this grave undertaking.

Agudo thought for a moment, as he nodded his head respectfully, to Alighan point on blindly charging into the unkown.

Before speaking Agudo taps his pipe on the side of his shoe as the fire goes out. He then puts it away in one of his many inner pockets, before answering Gallaenen question.

“I can see that we have many a brave, and powerful being in this tower. Yet Gallaenen has a good point, about coordinating are abilities, to best make use of them.
As I have stated before, I am an Archmage of Light, and have been trained to take on the most vile of Dark magic’s; as well as its evil beasts.”

Agudo then points to the snow owl on his shoulder.
“Lady Hoot is a very powerful Cleric capable of bringing back from the dead, several people at a time. Very useful in a large scale war, if that’s what we face?”

Agudo pauses then looks at the others.
Varnevian D'Saer

11-30-03, 04:22 AM
Varnevian listen to Gellaenen and hides a grin at the elf's description of himself as "rather skilled in the arcane" since such seems so obvious. Then quirks a brow at the apparent army of one. As Agudo describes himself and the owl, more than a common familiar, Varnevian nods, remembering passing references heard elsewhere to a school of magic.

When the two finish and the others still seem reluctant to speak, Varnevian shrugs and looks at Alighan, smiling.

"Agreed, lady. As for my skills, I think they are not quite the same as these others you've called. Though I may be wrong. My magics come from my nature more than instruction, but they're strong enough in their way and often more available. And my specialty is magics about and against magic and against summoned beings."

He flips a gold piece onto the table in front of him and then looks at it for an instant as it stays in place, before grinning wryly at Alighan.

"Ah, a dimension lock? So much for my arrangement with my favorite tavern.... I also have some skill in moving stuff about. But I can't help much with the information gathering, except in that way."

He slides the gold piece back to his pouch, seeming not in the least embarassed.
Rapheal

11-30-03, 09:38 AM
Rapheal listens when Gallaenen suggest they introduce their talents and Alighan suggest they spy a little first. Nodding his agreement, he waits for others to finish before he talks.

"I am skilled in a method called "Will and Word" which involves using the energies of everything around you to preform the task you need done. Advantage of this is I have no need for learning long diffcult spells and can do things almost instantly. Disadvantage to this is that our god, Aldur, only allows certain things to be done this way. Any weilders of this art must think carefully before doing anything. Other then this I have learned the arts of Bushido and Ninjitsu, forms of self defense. I could also do some spy work if need be, but if some has an easier more readily available means to do this then that would be best."

Rapheal settles back into his chair again, prepared to hear what the others have to say. He seems to be watching Alighan, but his one ear is turned towards Lady Hoot and Agudo.
Joas Rupha

Joas leans back in his chair.

He looks around the assembly.

"I see," she said at last.

"Well then, Agudo, you should go back to your tower and look for any who show promise. We shall need more help. Have a care when you do this, and when you have selected those best please send a letter detailing the abilities of these for my review. Gellaenen, why don't you go see if your army is available?" She grins at him with and expression that is somehow reminiscent of a wink. Joas, I need you to go h.." she had almost said home. "...to go back to Eliiya and keep your ears tuned Raphael and Varnevian, if you two would join me, there are things we all may learn."

She looked at them all. "What say you?"
Varnevian D'Saer

12-07-03, 10:27 AM
Varnevian studies Alighan a moment then smiles, though his eyes still watch her closely.

"For my part, I say that you are the one leading this, so I'll follow your lead. But this may be all the help you get, m'lady, and if so, what then?"
