However, I only recently discovered that there was a novel in the universe, but don't know much if anything about it. The main idea for how to run the game starts by giving the players artifacts that each grant an alternate form and each character may only have a single one of them. From there the alternate form is a creature of a defined level with the Kaiju template added on to make it the creature form. Both forms use the same base scores and the monster form adds everything ontop of the base form. That allows the players to still have character interaction while not adding a ton of giant monsters into the mix to let this be more than a oneshot adventure or a very short campaign. The transformation requires a Will save with successive saves each time damage is taken or the transformation fails and you return to human form with a number of rounds equal to 2x the failure before you can resume the form. Beyond that I'm not that sure of how to pull the game off. I like the idea of Necrosan the Bone Dragon as a Kaiju Dracolich or similar, perhaps even a Divine Rank. The badguys are trying to awaken him through the story. However, beyond the mechanics it becomes a simple plot problem for avoiding the 1 on 1 fights of that genre of games. |
