| funnymanmike04-05-07, 06:06 PM | for those fans of Magic the Gathering, i realy enjoyed the hole Ravnica set, just beacuse of the idea that the entire realm was one big city. I personly would like to see a d20 suplment for this. You don't have to belogn to a guild but you could. Monsters would be based off of cards (go watchwolf) To belong to a guild you would have to meet aligment requirments (color based) anyone have anything in the go, big maps? |
| Bladerock04-05-07, 07:00 PM | mmm... Eberron on steroids? Seriously, that is what ravnica reminded me off. Regardless, asupplement would be nice. And statting the monsters based on the cards might be fun. |
| Bosh_Vant04-08-07, 12:46 PM | To be honest I have been considering the same thing as well. There are a few things that I would have liked to see in the RPG that were not in the card set. I would have loved to see giant undersea cities, full of Dimiri celphalid conspirators, homerads being perfected by the simic, and merfolk knights of Prav, perhaps a new race of electrical eel folk for the Izzet guild. |

Dimiri celphalid conspirators! Cool!:w00t: The rest, I'm not so keen on through. |
| Bosh_Vant04-20-07, 09:12 AM | Well the other blue aligned guilds have to have something aquatic, and I picture Ravnica as a maddenly diverse and cosmopolitan place. Both above water and underneath it.Hundreds of cultures, and dozens of species squeezed into nine guilds (pay no attention to the Dimir iconography - insert whisteling) and once city. , The Azorus merfolk & Dimiri cephalids seemed like easy fits admitedly I was scrapeing for the last two but Homerads just [I]feel[I] Green, well they do to me at least. More beasts than sentient beings. |
| EyeHunter04-21-07, 09:13 AM | I loved the Odessey creature types, so I'm eager to see celphalids. The Dimir had a "water" connection through the sewers, through. Merfolk in Magic, usually want nothing to do with humans and other land species, so wouldn't they be anti-guild, maybe even wiped out by the guilds? Homerads work in the simic, in the sense that odd creature not associated with the other 3 colors does, too. |
| Veritatis04-24-07, 09:52 PM | I think Guild affiliation could be managed better as an organization, as outlined in PlayerŽs Handbook II, or even better as alternative class features. I have been working in some things about the setting, IŽll post them soon. Eberron in steroids... that was a good one!!! :D |
| Bosh_Vant04-25-07, 06:47 AM | Merfolk in Magic, usually want nothing to do with humans and other land species, so wouldn't they be anti-guild, maybe even wiped out by the guilds? While in most settings Merfolk are isolationist, I feel that Ravnica needs a diverse and cosmopoltan population. So while merfolk might be isolationist, this could translate to a kind of aquatic suburbanites. Isolationist in a personal space kind of way, and with development rules and strict sanctions on who could visit what areas. That is why they seem good for the Azorus to me. Nothing existing for me works for the Izzit - so all that I could think of was semi-anthropomorphic electrical eels. But by gum they need something. |
| EyeHunter04-28-07, 11:36 AM | Nothing existing for me works for the Izzit - so all that I could think of was semi-anthropomorphic electrical eels. But by gum they need something. They have the last dragon :dragon: in all of Ravnica, and a lot of clones of that dragon, :dragon::dragon::dragon::dragon:plus all high-magic-tech stuff! They don't need any more. |
| Bosh_Vant04-29-07, 03:23 AM | They do if we are expanding all blue guilds beneath the waves. - Oh interesting tidbit overheard on You Tube boards. Ravnica translates to Meadow. Alternately - we can assume that all the seas have been drained and thier water put to more, constructed use. |

| Bosh_Vant05-08-07, 04:35 AM | My only objection to this is the Ravnica trailer shows fairly large bodies of water at it's begining and end. Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvhopmaoIoI I don't imagine the Guildpact stops at the water's edge. |

Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvhopmaoIoI I don't imagine the Guildpact stops at the water's edge. I counted about 3 dragons in there. (not drakes, they had the forward hands) So I don't know about large bodies of water, maybe they were built over. |
| jarzium05-14-07, 02:20 AM | hey guys, i would love to see this thread thriving. i have got no idea what happened to the previous magic thread. hopefully we can have enough inputs and put them into a pdf file. |
| Belljar05-24-07, 08:01 PM | I'm working on a Ravnica D20 idea myself, but moreso, I'm working on converting the flavor of Magic into D20. i.e. The magic system (mana) and the cosmology (colours of magic, planes, etc.). One idea I have: Ravnica Guilds serve the same function as gods in D&D; they have domains, alignments, and grant access to special spells (to mimic the abilities of the Guildmage cards), as well as substitution levels or prestige classes for Guildmages. |
| japoniano07-04-07, 01:49 PM | Check this topic (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=576276). |
| Bosh_Vant04-28-08, 01:32 AM | Guild territories I picture the various basic lands being different depending on the guild that runs them. (This I would also have loved to see in the art, well maybe if they return to Ravnica.) Some would be simple to show, such as a plain filled with small, modest, and humble Orzohv parishiner houses, almost bowing before the towering mansions of the great families. A Boros Plain would be filled with almost regimented houses perfect in simitry and ease of navigation. A Dimiri Island would be a few hundred floating wood buildings creating a shifting maze of rope bridges and darkend wooden walkways. A Simic Island would be a Magically engeneerd Lilly Pad, large enough to support a college campus. What are some of your ideas on the subject? |
| Melpomene04-29-08, 02:19 PM | ~La, la http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=803149&highlight=ravnica Yeah, I did this when the sets first came out. ^_^ This link is the most updated version of the setting. |
| Bosh_Vant05-26-08, 02:04 AM | I was thinking of certain guilds having additonal races beyond the standard D&D PhB & MM races. I would like to see the Gruul with Gobelfs & Elorks. Half Goblin / Half Elves & Half Elf / Orks. Bring in the Dragonlike transformed Moho (I know I'm mispelling this,) as avatars of the Firemind for the Simic. One major wrinkle that I would like to add. The Nephilim are kept asleep by the Guildpact and can only awaken if it is dangorusly weakend or broken. Such an event might destroy the entirety of the civilization on the plane. |
