I already posted these Ridley stats on the d20 Future boards, but this board is probably more appropriate. If you like him, I have a few other Metroid critters statted up.

Challenge Rating: 25
Treasure: triple standard (he runs a pirate base)
Alignment: neutral evil

Breath Weapon (Su): Every 1d4 rounds, Ridley can breath either a line of fire, or a small burst of flame that explodes on contact (like a fireball). The line is sixty feet long and five feet wide. The burst has a one hundred and twenty foot range and a ten foot radius spread. The burst deals 13d8 points of fire damage, and the line deals 18d8. A reflex save (DC 35) halves the damage in either case.

Improved Grab (Ex): If he hits a Medium or smaller creature with a claw attack, Ridley can attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking attacks of opportunity. If he gets a hold, he deals automatic claw damage each round, and can make tail attacks against the victim, who is treated as flat footed.

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): Constant-true seeing 3/day-invisibility, wall of force, meteor swarm (can use fire, lightning, or acid energy type for this last one). These are as cast by a thirtieth level sorcerer. The save DC's are charisma based.

Rejuvination (Ex): If he is killed, Ridley mysteriously respawns in his accursed palace in the volcanic depths of Norfair, on the planet Zebes. It is unknown how and if he retains this ability after Zebes' destruction.

Crush (Ex): Ridley's natural weapons are treated as adamantine.

Voidspawn (Ex): Ridley does not need to breath, and is capable of flight even in an environment that lacks air or gravity.

Martial Weapon Proficiency (Ex): Unlike most dragons, Ridley has opposable thumbs and can wield a wide variety of advanced weaponry. He most often chooses not to, but he can and does occasionally.

Looks good. I like his breath weapon. One question, why spell-like abilities? Invisibility I can almost understand, but I think a good hide bonus would be enough.

Speaking of which... um... Skills?

I haven't put the skills yet because, to put it simply, I have no idea what they should be. Any advice you have would be appreciated.

As for the spell likes:

Invisibility: There are two occasions (both in Super Metroid) upon which Ridley displays this ability. True, it might have also been some sort of active camoflage, but if so it was effective enough to be treated as invisibility.

True Seeing: I just figured Ridley would have this. Since his specialties seem to be a) hunting down and retrieving things, and b) detecting and killing intruders, true seeing seemed appropriate.

Wall of Force: I admit, this is hyperbole on my part. In most boss fights in the series, the boss room is sealed off by an unbreakable lock or force field until the meanie is vanquished. While this is not supposed to be an ability of any of said bosses (it only exists to make sure you do everything in the right order), it was so iconic that I gave it to Ridley.

Varient Meteor Swarms: This is to cover the various missile and cluster bomb attacks he has used throughout the series. Since Zero Mission, Prime, and Corruption all depict him using different multi-fireball and explosive attacks, I just gave him an elementally versatile meteor swarm to include them all.

Invisibility I could deal with. He should still be able to hide well though.

I'd make True Seeing always active and give it it's own entry in special qualities.

Wall of Force. *shrugs* whatever works.

I've never played Zero Mission, but isn't this only used by Meta-Ridley? If so, I'd leave it out of this build, and include these in a Meta-Ridley build. And I wouldn't make them SLA's, but more like a breath weapon or missile.

As for skills, I'd give him Intimidate, Listen, Spot, and Survival as class skills, and the following ranks and bonuses-

Climb +23, Hide +25, Intimidate +35, Jump +23, Knowledge (any one) +16, Listen +32, Move Silently +23, Search +19, Sense Motive +17, Spot +33, Survival +33 (+35 when following tracks)

Another thing I might consider is giving him a free attack with his tail while he's grappleing an opponent. What about making his natural weapons the equivalent of adamantine weapons?

Um, rejuvenation? The Space Pirates had to spend ages rebuilding him (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=153).

Only after Zebes a-sploded. Before that, he just kinda showed up again.

Thanks for the skill suggestions. I added them.

Automatic tail attack? Hmm. Well, he could do that in some of the games, and I'm trying to fit all his abilities in one build, so I'll do it.

Adamantine claws make sense. In.

Prime32, I hate to break it to you, but vgcats is not canon.

Ha ha ha  It says in one of the pirate logs in the first Metroid Prime that their top priorities were rebuilding Ridley and Mother Brain. Metroid Prime is set immediately after the first game. Ridley X is thought to be a clone, so the others could be too.

I could have sworn there was a log in that game that mentioned the destruction of Zebes... Are you sure it isn't set after Super Metroid? Links or anything? I never did follow it that well. I always assumed it went

Metroid-Metroid 2-Super Metroid-Metroid Fusion-Primes

with the fact that there are metroids in the Prime games being that they had some in orbit when Zebes went kablooie.

Looking good Flumph.
