"Greetings, councilors" said the old, crooked magistrate with his deep, impressive voice.

"Behind me and the curtain that still compeltely prevents you from seeing the subjects of this audience are those who were called to compose it. However, before we lift this silky frontier, I shall remind you of our task.

As you know it, our fine city has only been established lately, and ourselves are in post since less than a compelte moon. Yet, a tenday ago came a priest, a herald of his faith, hoping his Church would get permission to establish a temple within our walls. Most of you must remember that we gathered and held many reunions, weighing the pros and cons of such a decision. As we were ready to decide, grateful to have a house of healers and thinkers with us, another man entered before we could sign, claiming we would commit a fatal error. He thought that to support our citizens with beliefs was a great thing, yet he was sure that the beliefs we were about to offer them were wrong and coruptive.

Many similar situations rose afterward, with priests and heretics claiming that we'd bring suffering instead of helping our inhabitants. Tired of all these claims, I invited all of them to come today, in front of you, to debate of their dogmas and prove one's superiority over all others. To prevent bloodshed, all of these men are wearing a necklave of sanctuary we offered them, protecting them from any physical or magical attack.

They will first present themselves, as well as their group. They will also tell us briefly in what they consist. After these brief presentations, the last one who'll present himself will have the opportunity to doubt or to ask a quesiton in the hope of proving another one's faith to be fallacious or senseless. We shall only open our city's doors to the mightiest of gods, in fear of angering it and its servants.

May the ceremony begin!

(OOC: Anyone is welcome within, as long as they've got a good philosophy to back them up. Also, I want no combat within this thread. ONLY debates. You may insult, threaten, mock (altough not too much, for it would derive from the principal interest), but I bid you not to concretize your threats. Thank you.)

"Sir, can I speak?"

*An elf in white robes raises from his chair, before the lord have even answered. He is high, even for an elf and with beautiful dark hair. His features are graceful and smooth, while his eyes expresses deep wisdom*

"I am Tentahkanaka of the elven kingdoms. I have come her with my gathering of acolytes, to teach the humans the way of Gaea, mother of the earth.

Gaea decides everything in nature, grows everything on earth, many would go so far as saying that she is the earth. She will grant you eternal peace, and how to communicate with the world around you. All animals follow her and do her bidding, which is always fair and gives something to her believer, as well as herself. We cannot live without her, it would ruin our mind, soul and body. So grant your trust in her, then she will always be here.

She can teach you how to speak with trees, to obtain their wisdom, how to lead the animals and how to grow with the world itself. I hope you will choose wisely"

A man clothed in white difficultly rose from his chairs, a walking staff in his hand.

"Greetings, High nobles. I am Bonze, and am herald of a faith I called the Way. Its principles are simple. Everyone must find his or her place within existence, or suffer greatly because they do not fit their own role. These personnal illnesses are the source of all our inconsiderate actions, our flaws. And each of our flaws generates other flaws, because it disturbs more and more people around us.

I believe that to be incomfortable brings you to create discomfort, and that to create discomfort is bringing insecurity (another form of discomfort) on the people surrounding you.

It is also known that your actions during your life decide the plane of which you'll be a petitionner. I do believe that life does not end as a petitionner. The most foul (and thus, inconfortable) of us are turned to fiends, and continue to corrupt life, while the most vertuous are turned into celestials. Thus, death is not an end within itself, only a mean.

Thank you for your attention."

The man sat down, looking at the next one to speak.

That is not a religion, but a lifestyle! Or is it a religion that have nothing to do with.. Religion!

*Laughs mockingly and then abruptly stops*

Blasphemy, I tell you! Now sit down or ill grow roots to those mouldy legs of yours.

"Charming" let out a voice from one of the wooden chair, diametrically opposed to Bonze's. "We have not even finished presentations and the hostilities are starting."

"My lords, I am pleased to be here today, in front of your magnificent persons. I am representing, please remain calm, a dogma shunned publicly by the people of Toril. I am a servant of the Lady of Loss, Shar. "

"It is true that we encourage nihilism, and it is also true that we despise life under all its forms. Yet, let me explain our deep conclusions, and you may judge me afterward."

"It is known to most grandiloquent philosophers and diviners that our world was created, a long time ago, by an unconcerning, careless overdeity. Glancing within our plane, he distinguished naught but a mass of swirling darkness, and decided he should change that fact forever. He thus created light and life, the perfect anathema of all that already existed. You probably guessed, by now, that I am speaking of the deities Shar and Sêlune.

Since these times, the universe lived in great conflict. The light continued to fight, to establish itself, even though the primal essence of our universe fought against it to recover, once again, its primal rest. Since the creation of Chauntea, divine embodiment of the planet, humans and every other creatures alike fought desperately against each other, struggling desperately in an universe that was not meant for them, in which they have no future. Did you never ask yourself why those living on the Material Plane die, while all petitionners, demon, celestials, devils and elementals live forever? It is that the nature of this plane is corrupting us, slowly decaying our bodies until they can't support us anymore.

Our task is to alleviate our suffering. We have enough of this mascarade. We know that our place is not here, that life is a constant renewal of sufferings, and that's why we want to end it now. Because to die young and healthy is to reserve yourself a better place in the afterlife, while living longer isn only offering yourself to more pains along the way.

This does not mean we won't take care of your citizens, my lords. The members of our clergy, too, are living beings, sacrificing their own destinies because of the duty they believe in. We would be proud to further the education of your children, to transform them into helpers of the common cause of all living beings.

The small elf sat and listerened to the talkers. She stood up a little unsure of her self, she could feel herself blush, but she spoke out.
" I dont really belong to any religion. I have never seen one yet that didnt seem self serving, that thought it was better than all the others, that didnt try to install some sort of fear over beings to get them to belive in their God. I came here today to see if there was anything worth beliving in."
She sat back down again glad to be back in amongst the crowd.
