| SeptimusMagistos12-30-06, 02:47 PM | As you enter, you behold an ancient building. Done in a bizarre mixture of styles, it baffles the eye of the average observer. It has an intercepting amount of domes, towers, and walkways. The ancient walls have been rebuilt, painted, and inlaid with decorations. Among the older buildings are a number of newer, smaller ones. The towers have giant crystal, stone wheels, and other unnecessarry objects on top of them. People o various races are walking around the school. Periodically, a bell will ring with a melodic sound. A strong magical aura hangs over the entire complex. Some visitors are loitering off in a small garden. |
| Gideon_Gideonson12-30-06, 06:52 PM | Bartelemus the Archivist hobbles slowly into the building. Looking around him at the flurry of activity, he turns to a nearby worker. "Excuse me, but where might I find the being in charge of this operation? I believe I can assist in this venture greatly." |
| Sorcen_Anenooata12-30-06, 08:26 PM | A large werewolf-like creature attired only with a belt of many pouches and wands and various other magic items hanging off of it, walks onto the grounds of the magic school. His fur is black with red tips and he has orange speckles, forming a pentagram if examined closely, in his pure white eyes. Despite his bestial appearance, his face and hands are more human-like than any other werewolf. When he speaks it is a smooth humanoid voice with hints of a dog's voice to it. "Master Septimus, I have heard of your School of Magic from Sorcen and I imagine you are in need of teachers for your new institution. I, Professor Paraclesius formerly known as Amon, come to volunteer my services as a professor in your newfound school." As he says this he bows and returns to await Septimus' response. EDIT: Needed to add a list of Paraclesius' classes, the first page of the relevant thread is always a good place for such things. Merely step into one of my classes to join them and feel free to ask questions and participate in the lectures. Perhaps there will be tests in teh future if I actually get students, who knows what the future may hold. | SeptimusMagistos12-31-06, 12:07 PM | Septimus answers: "I'm in charge here friend. I'll be with you in a second." He then turns to the wolf-like being. "Well, I wasn't going to start looking for teachers until the repairs were done, but I guess I can start now. What is it you teach?" Septimus turns back to Bartelemus the Archivist. "How is it you can assist me?" |
| Lord_Gareth12-31-06, 01:09 PM | Syra steps out of a shadow. The elf's face is still scarred by her light burns, but they are almost faded entirely. She smiles her warm little smile. "How can he help? If there's something he doesn't know, mortals can't know it, that's how. Bartlemaeus here can teach anything to anyone." She twitches her hand, and a chair made of shadowstuff forms behind her. She takes a seat. "I believe I can be of assistance as well." |
| Gideon_Gideonson12-31-06, 04:50 PM | "Sadly, I fear that Syra is right...the knowledge of many things is now part of me...sometimes it is useful...but...some things were not for mortal men to know. I am haunted by the knowledge of horrors beyond comprehension." "Still, there are other ways I may assist. Written words contain great power. Observe." Bartelemus's voice booms out, its tone deep and powerful, totally at odds with the frail man speaking. The words of ancient tomes flow from his mouth, and, as he speaks, become reality. With that, Lord Birila bade the work commence, and the construction of the Academy of the Stonespire Knights began. For seven years they labored, raising tower upon tower, hall upon hall. Great monuments of granite, strongholds of knowledge and skill, rose from the plains, and, at the summer equinox of the year of the Starless Night, it was finished." Buildings rise up, halls furnish themselves, ancient buildings are strengthened, and the workers around Bartelemus stand in awe. Architecture unrivaled by modern capability surrounds them, its grace, magnitute, and style all powerful and strangely alluring. Bartelemus turns to Septimus. "Just an example...if it was written, I can create it. I hope that may be useful to you in some way. If you dislike it, I can remove it easily; sadly, so much of mankind's writing deals with death and destruction..." |
| SeptimusMagistos12-31-06, 05:38 PM | "Stop that. This isn't according to plan. Why the heck do we need stables? And that's totally out of color scheme. Look, I know all about the power of written words. I read the contents of several great libraries myself. However, the reason I stayed away from constructing things directly with magic is that it tends to be rather templated. Besides, most of the beings you see here are performing community service. It helps them avoid jail. Some of it's all right, but I'll have to demolish the rest." Septimus started blowing buildings to rubble. "If you really want to help, do you know how to go about getting some rare books?" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-01-07, 05:16 PM | Paraclesius raises an eyebrow at the events around him and then quickly snaps back to answering the schoolmaster's question, "I may have been over-prudent in my attempts to grasp a position in your school, forgive me. As to your question, I can teach offensive magic and domination spells mainly and of course some transmutation spells as I am the patron of werewolves at times." |
| Larz_Fang01-02-07, 03:55 AM | A man wearing green-purple robes appears in a flash of light. "I heard that there was a new school of magic here. Greetings, I am Thelron the Knowledgeable. I am the famous archsage of Danaroth and among the greatest users of arcane power today. I myself have opened some schools of spellcasters, and most of my pupils have become truly great mages." He turns to Septimus. "Ah, you must be the great magician Septimus who owns this place of greater learning." |
| SeptimusMagistos01-02-07, 10:37 AM | The building is almost finished. "All right, then. You're hired. Just one thing though, you don't have any problem with your...condition, do you? I need to know, you understand." Septimus turns to the newest arrival. "Greetings, friend. Yes, I am starting this school." |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-02-07, 03:29 PM | "Oh no friend, dont worry, I am not afflicted with Lycanthropy, I merely am a Baatezu that serves as a source of worship for the werewolves that choose to do so. Thank you for the job, I will await the final touches on teh building before I move my things into my room. I assume you'll have someone show me where my room will be." Paraclesius bows to Septimus and steps back so that the schoolmaster would not be overcome with so many applicants for teaching positions. |
| Larz_Fang01-03-07, 02:57 AM | "As a sage, I have learned spells that are not available to either wizards or sorcerers. For 127 years I have studied ancient secrets of spellcasting and discovered so many spells of great power and I no longer have that much to learn. However, if you like, I can teach your students a wide variety of spells that deal mostly with conjuration, divination, evocation and abjuration schools. I also have knowledge of so-called purple magic, green magic, blue magic as well as rune magic. I am also good at crafting constructs such as this one." The sage snaps his fingers and in a flash of lighta 9 feet tall humanoid-shaped construct with glowing blue runes carved to it's surface appears to his right side. "Meet Runion, the Bluerunic Guardian." |
| treetrunker01-03-07, 02:02 PM | As the conversation progresses on the ground level, Roran steps up to the edge of a balcony, steeling himself for what is about to come. He begins slowly casting a spell. It looks as if it shouldn't be that complicated, but he seems to be having trouble anyway. When he is finished, Roran readies himself, and jumps off. He quickly begins falling, and curses at the failed spell as he hits the ground with a loud thump. "Not again," he groans. |
| SeptimusMagistos01-03-07, 05:30 PM | The building is finished and most of the magical creatures disappeared. Some still remain, like a 2-headed ogre swinging a broom around with much enthusiasm but little finesse. Septimus sighs and claps his hands. A tall and slender female in a striped gray suit appears. "Hello. I'm Ms. Strict. I am the vice principal of this school and will handle the applications. Your qualifications are quite impressive, Mr. Bartelemus. You have the job. Now then, everyone, form a line, please." Septimus meanwhile walks over to Roran. "Having trouble with Feather Fall? It's all right, you'll get it. But nevermind that now. Though we made a good start, this school will need more teachers and students than can be found around this arena. I shall lay a powerful spell to attract them. I think that the very height of magic is an appropriate first lesson for a student who learned his basic spells, don't you? Come along now." Septimus walks towards the tallest tower. |
| Lord_Gareth01-03-07, 05:33 PM | Syra slips out of a shadow in front of Septimus, looking serious and dissaproving. "I knew a girl who tried powerful magic when she wasn't ready. Leveled an entire magical college by accident, and hasn't been able to live with herself since. I don't think your student is ready." |
| SeptimusMagistos01-03-07, 05:37 PM | "Huh? Oh no, I'm not planning on having him cast the spell. I just think watching it may be a good educational experience for him." |
| Lord_Gareth01-03-07, 05:42 PM | "Right. Well, I haven't had time to explain what I do, just in case you didn't see my fight. I manipulate shadows and darkness, the mind and the soul, deception and manipulation, everything that is hidden and that which hides in plain sight. My power is both literal and figurative, and though it is easier if you are born with it, it can be taught. A warning, though. Learning my arts comes with a bit of...light sensitivity." The elf slides into her own shadow, emerging near Mrs. Strict. "Ma'am, your name is more obvious and cliche'd than Lady Pain herself, queen b*tch of Sigil. I'm Syra Kavon, here to sign up as a teacher." |
| SeptimusMagistos01-03-07, 05:45 PM | Mrs. Strict attacked Syra with a sneak-attack-soap-in-the-mouth. "As long as you avoid such language among the students, you may have a position." |
| Lord_Gareth01-03-07, 06:02 PM | Syra slips into a shadow, narrowly dodging the soap. "You ain't my mother, and she couldn't even stick me with that. I'll take the job, but I warn you now; what happens in the Shadow Ward, stays in the Shadow Ward." With that, she flits off, bringing all the shadows she can muster with her. |
| SeptimusMagistos01-03-07, 06:10 PM | "It's times like this I wish Mr. Magistos had a more strict hiring policy." |
| Lord_Gareth01-06-07, 10:00 AM | "Your loss." Syra's voice whispers in Mrs. Strict's ear, but the elf is nowhere near her. But the ogre gets a sudden image of the tiny elf waving in her head, before the shadowmancer slips out of her mind. Shadows flit throughout the building, but exactly what they are doing is unclear. All you can see is that anything not bolted down or on someone's person is being swiped. |
| SeptimusMagistos01-06-07, 03:28 PM | Septimus appears in a blaze like a burning sun. "Syra! Just what do you think you're doing?!" |
| Lord_Gareth01-06-07, 03:39 PM | Syra flits into the shadows of Septimus's mind, keeping away from the burning light. "What? I told them I needed building materials. Not my fault if they're stupid. Besides, you're a finger-waggler, you can make your own crap. I have to find crap. Now, before you crush me under your willpower, I'll be leaving." Syra flits out of the mage's mind, moving through the school. |
| SeptimusMagistos01-06-07, 03:55 PM | "This is going to be a long, long semester, isn't it? Coming, Roran?" |
| Larz_Fang01-08-07, 02:37 AM | OOC: Sorry for my absence, but I got sick last week. BIC: "So, how is it going to be? Am I... 'in'?" Thelron snaps his fingers and the glowing construct disappears. |
| SeptimusMagistos01-09-07, 05:36 PM | "Sure, why not." |
| treetrunker01-09-07, 07:36 PM | "Yes master, what exactly are you going to show me?" |
| SeptimusMagistos01-10-07, 05:24 PM | "I shall show you the foundations of this school as well as one of the most fascinating rituals in all of magic." Septimus proceeded towards the central tower. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-10-07, 06:02 PM | Paraclesius begins setting up his classroom and writing teaching plans. A few imps zip about helping him setup and hang things and sweep and whatever else needs to be done. When the setup is complete he sits at his desk and does the last minute adjustments and awaits the students while reading a large dusty tome. |
| Larz_Fang01-11-07, 04:42 AM | Thelron grabs a rock from the ground to his right hand and steps outside to the school courtyard. He mumbles something and the rock that he is holding starts to glow purple. He then throws the rock right next to the school and a new great tower appears. It becomes connected to the main building with a rather large corridor. After that the sage disappears to his tower and summons up few items, including books. After that few small metallic constructs appear to help him clean and arrange the items to their places. |
| SeptimusMagistos01-11-07, 06:26 PM | Septimus enters the central tower. As he and his apprentice rise in the elevator, he points to glowing bundles of magic. "These are the spells to keep this school powered, whole, and protected. You may find such a tower in some major wizardry compounds. We need only complete the last spell, which will call up all the students and teachers we need." On the second-to-top floor (The top floor is for anti-aerial defensive spells) Septimus gets off. "Prepare to witness the spell, my student." |
| Larz_Fang01-12-07, 02:40 AM | Thelron, holding a gnarled staff appears in a flash of blue light behind Septimus and Roran. "This is something I have to see." |
| SeptimusMagistos01-12-07, 03:38 PM | As Septimus begins to weave the lines of the spell, he lectures his apprentice. "The real beauty of this spell isn't in its power, you see. Any of the great mages could raise a spell with twice as much energy without breaking a sweat. The trick is in its complexity and, even more so, in its elegancy. It will only attract the beings who will prosper here and be happy. It will not attract anyone who didn't want to come, or wouldn't fit in here. In general, they probably will not be the most conventional of students, but they will be the best for this particular arrangement. There, done." A glowing ball composed of lines of power hung in the air. It glowed brighter as it was activated. "Well, now the teaching is about to begin." Students and teachers began to arrive, one by one. |
| Larz_Fang01-15-07, 02:46 AM | As Septimus finishes the spell, Thelron walks alongside the magician. "All right, good thing that that's out of the way. Just so that you know, I have raised a tower for myself here, so when you notice it you know that it is my handiwork. My office and classroom are both located there and you can find me there. Though, needless to say, I see and hear just about everything that takes place in this school. Farewell for now." That said, he raises his staff and disappears in another flash of light. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-15-07, 10:08 AM | As teh students pour in and fill the seats, the archdevil teacher looks them over and stands and paces about for a few moments, "Alright I beleive we've waited long enough for the stragglers. We'll start by going through the roll-call of course..." He then proceeds to call the names of each of the students and they respond accordingly, likely one or two of them decide to be funny and say something other than 'present' and Paraclesius merely laughs along with them at this. The professor finishes teh roll and sets the paper back on his desk and looks over his teaching plan a moment, "Ah here we are, we'll be learning the intricasies of a fireball today kids." At this he draws a fireball on the board and begins labelling parts of it and explaining where it comes from and how it gets here. "... Of course this is only one theory on where it comes from and how the fireball gets here. If any of you have any other theories to add or questions to ask then feel free to raise your hand and I'll call on you." |
| Lord_Gareth01-15-07, 11:24 AM | One of the students begins to raise his hand, right before his shadow rises up and swallows him, taking the desk with him. All over the school, certain, specific students are getting sucked in by their own shadows, or else shadows of something nearby, taking both child and shadow with them. In a section of the school marked off by total darkness, Syra speaks to her bewildered and blind audience. "Welcome to the Shadow Ward, students. I'm Syra, but you'll refer to me as Professor Kavon, or I'll boot you so hard you'll end up in Limbo. My talents are yours, quite literally, and I'm here to teach you how to use them." |
| SeptimusMagistos01-15-07, 01:25 PM | OOC: Could someone post a list of everyone who joined this so far? I'd do it myself, but I'm a bit busy right now. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-15-07, 01:49 PM | OOC: Certainly. I'll edit this in a moment with the list. Teachers: Bartelemus- Gideon Gideonson Paraclesius- Sorcen Anenooata Syra- Lord Gareth Thelron- Larz Fang Students: Roran- Treetrunker |
| Larz_Fang01-18-07, 09:00 AM | Students start to arrive into Thelron's classroom. The old sage seems immobile when the students come. Sitting behind his table, Thelron looks like he is sleeping, but when the last student finally arrives, the classroom's door suddenly closes and the sage raises his head. "Welcome, welcome to my tower in this school. I am Thelron the Knowledgeable." He snaps his finger and his name appears to a blackboard behind him. "And Today we shall focus on the protective magic school of Abjuration. But first let's see who are present and who are not." And the roll-call starts. No-one is missing. "Okay, let's get started." |
| Gideon_Gideonson01-19-07, 03:42 PM | Bartelemus wander off in the direction of the library, where he immediatly begins to take over in a quiet, controlled manner. As soon as he enters the room, it becomes apparent that he belongs there. He looks in awe at row upon row of shelves full of arcane lore and powerful magic. "Most impressive! I have never seen so many volumes of magic in one place!" "But we can do better. Where is the head librarian? You! Come with me. And you. Yes, bring him along. We've got work to do......" OOC: I take it that if Bartelemus is to teach here, the library is where he is best suited to work, whether lecturing, teaching, or simply cataloguing and pulling books. Whatever the school needs... |
| SeptimusMagistos01-19-07, 05:23 PM | The head librarian is a tall insectoid creature with many appendages, suited for reaching any book. "You called?" |
| Gideon_Gideonson01-20-07, 04:09 PM | "Yes, yes...now hurry up. You're doing this entirely wrong. Look over there. Come on! Use some common sense! Keeping magical religious texts close together results in combustion or auras of divine power within a few days. Don't they teach you ANYTHING here? You need to dilute the effect. Look, you grab that one there...no, the other one...and move it to this shelf here. Good. That should balance out the Nerulian Blood Ritual tome. See? That wasn't hard at all. But we can get more creative here...with the right balance, we can create magical auras to influence those inside the structure. Hmmm...we'll need a study area...get some medatative texts. Not to many, mind. Let's see...I want three thousand pages of prayers on that shelf, top right hand side, and a book of poems over there...make sure some are about spring and winter. And then we'll need..." Bartelemus rattles off commands to the librarian and any lackies/students that happen to be in the area as he begins rearranging the library to balance magical powers and create the perfect atmosphere for work or studying. |
| SeptimusMagistos01-21-07, 01:31 PM | The head librarian shrugs and rearrenges books according to orders. If the little old man was convinced arranging books in that order could have an effect, he wasn't going to argue. |
| Gideon_Gideonson01-21-07, 07:13 PM | As soon as he does so, the very atmosphere within the library changes dramatically. The room seems calmer and more balanced, and each person present feels a sense of studious academia (sp?...most likely) which seems alluring and peaceful. Bartelemus leans against the wall and smiles. "See? Books listen. You just need to hear them speak." |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-21-07, 09:52 PM | At this he draws a fireball on the board and begins labelling parts of it and explaining where it comes from and how it gets here. "... Of course this is only one theory on where it comes from and how the fireball gets here. If any of you have any other theories to add or questions to ask then feel free to raise your hand and I'll call on you." Paraclesius frowns at his student disappearing but assumes it was supposed to happen, "Well then does anyone else need to leave.... Alright then back to the lesson... You there in the back, can you cast a fireball for us for further study?" The student that was called on seems more than happy to hurl a fireball at the professor, Paraclesius winks at the student and the fireball freezes just a few feet before it would have struck him, "Thank you Sabok. Now if you'll take note of the nature of this ball of darker flames in the center of the fireball...." He trails off into another lecture on this spell. |
| Larz_Fang01-23-07, 08:33 AM | For 45 minutes, Thelron teaches his students what they need in order to use magic to protect themselves properly. "Remember, sometimes offence is not the best defence. If you attack your opponent without the knowledge of his or her weakness, you just might waste your spell AND your life. In order to prevent this, make sure that you keep some abjuration magic at hand all the times, and if you cannot or don't want to use your own magic in order to do that, keep some magic items ready, for they may very well save your life. Observe." The sage waves his left hand and an image of a human mage and a flesh golem appears. "Now, this here is a rather young wizard Ethel Radiante who encountered a golem of flesh when he got lost from the rest of his adventuring party. He had no knowledge of the golem's weakness, so he just foolishly tried a lightning bolt on the thing." The mage in the image casts forth a bolt of lighting, which hits the golem. "Of course, the spell had no effect, for flesh golems are in fact immune to all energy-based spells, and lightning energy in fact heals their damage. Therefore..." The flesh golem moves next to the mage and knocks him down the rest of the image shows how the golem rips poor Ethel limb from limb. "...never make the mistake that Ethel did. Most of his friends even gave up their adventuring career when they finally found him lying as a pile of flesh, bone and blood." After the lesson Thelron gives the students their homework and stays for a moment to study a book that he has never seen before. |
| Larz_Fang01-24-07, 03:07 AM | Thelron carries the book back to his office, where he begins deciphering it's words. After an hour of study, the old sage notices something in the new book. "Very interesting indeed. I'd better check this at the library." With a simple command word, Thelron vanishes from his office and reappears in the library. The sage walks to the librarian. "Excuse me, but I am looking for a book named Libris Ignus IV. Do you happen to have it in here?" |
| Lord_Gareth01-24-07, 10:01 PM | "That hurt. Welcome, students, to the Shadow Ward. You have talent, latent, in your blood, and I've brought you here to harness it. No doubt you find yourself unable to see in this darkness. I, however, can see just fine. What makes the difference? Training. Listen, and unlock the power of Shadow. Fail, and I punt you so hard, you'll circle around the plane and land where you started." Syra's voice echoes from every direction, issuing from the darkness itself. "Now, the shadows reveal their secrets not just to anyone. You need to befriend them. You'll find some books at your desks. Your first challenge will be to read them." |
| Gideon_Gideonson01-25-07, 04:43 PM | As the librarian reflects on the question, Bartelemus's eyes glow white. Finally, he turns to Thelron. "Second floor, down the hallway, ninth left. Third shelf from the top on the far lefthand side. Thirteenth book from the right. Careful though. Its fragil. Also, page 345-346 is missing, and page 446 is slightly burnt. But readable." |
| SeptimusMagistos01-25-07, 05:48 PM | A student in Syra's class looks around. Suddenly, she screams so loudly it hurts everyone's ears. It's not a sonic attack. Just pure terror. "I'm scared of the dark!" |
| Larz_Fang01-26-07, 08:09 AM | Thelron nods and says a quick "Thank you" to the librarian. Then he rushes off to find the book he is looking for. When he finds it, he snatches it to his hand, summons up a chair and sits down to begin his task of studying it. Ten minutes pass until the old sage suddenly yells up a giant "DAMN IT!!!" Then Thelron finds a table and scribes some glowing purple runes to it. He places the book on the runes and begins humming a spell. The runes begin to glow brighter and then Libris Ignus begins to glow for a moment. When the book stops glowing and the runes fade away, Thelron grabs the book and checks it. "Good! It's fixed. Now I can learn the spell..." |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-26-07, 08:48 AM | "...And thats probably all you'll need for the fireball. I'll see you tomorrow but right now I need you to read page ten in your textbooks and come to class prepared to learn about the destructive power of lightning tomorrow." Paraclesius says as he waves a hand and sends a textbook to each student from a huge stack of them sitting in the corner. He goes back to his desk after dismissing the frozen fireball and resumes reading the old tome he had before. He thinks for a moment and takes a beautiful blue gemstome from his desk drawer and twirls it in his fingers while he reads. |
| Lord_Gareth01-26-07, 03:05 PM | The darkness hardens around the girl's mouth, preventing her from speaking or screaming any further. She can still breathe from her nose, however. "Be quiet," Syra's voice whispers in her ear, "or you'll scare the others. The darkness isn't what you're afraid of. It's the unknown in it. Relax your eyes. Reach out to it. The darkness doesn't make friends easily, but it shares its secrets freely once it does. Relax." |
| SeptimusMagistos01-26-07, 05:08 PM | The girl's face is frozen in horror. As she struggles to scream, shadowy tentacles emerge from her body and grope around. |
| Larz_Fang01-27-07, 07:39 AM | After having written the mysterious spell to his own spellbook, Thelron takes the book back into it's shelf and walks back to the librarian, who glares him with frustration. "Oh, sorry about that yelling, the spell that I was looking for was in those missing pages, but due to my great pseudomagical abilities, I was able to restore the book to it's former glory. Now, if you excuse me, I have some tests to carry out. Goodbye for now." The old sage once again raises his staff and disappears in a flash of bright blue light. |
| Larz_Fang01-27-07, 08:04 AM | After his visit in Cycine's Tavern, Thelron appears to Paraclesius' quarters. "Greetings, my colleaque. Had a good lesson? Good. I just discovered a most interesting spell and I need someone to go test it with. You up for the job?" |
| Lord_Gareth01-27-07, 10:00 AM | Syra gently holds the tentacles back, dispersing them into normal darkness. "There is nothing to fear here. I won't hurt you. Nothing here is going to cause you harm. But if you don't believe me, look for yourself. Just relax. If you show the darkness you aren't afraid, if you show it you have the gift, it won't keep any secrets from you. The shadows are your friends, not foes." |
| SeptimusMagistos01-27-07, 02:07 PM | A snarling head of a shadow demon reared its head out of the little girl's chest, roaring with defiance and bloodlust. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-27-07, 10:29 PM | Paraclesius shuts his book and stands to greet Thelron, "Ah yes I was expecting you. Heres our pocket dimension to test this spell of yours, I'm intrigued as to what kind of damage it can do." He holds out his hand and the blue gem begins to float and hums almost inaudibly. A thin blue beam of light extends from the downward facing facet of it. The beam expands until it becomes a doorway wide enough for the professors to walk through. Paraclesius motions for Thelron to go before him, "Shall we?" |
| treetrunker01-28-07, 06:44 PM | After a long day of classes, Roran finds an empty classroom on the bottom floor of the school. He jumps on top of a table, casts a spell, and steps off. He starts to fall, but his spell holds him up, and he slowly glides towards the ground. "Yes! I finally got it!" The look of pure ecstasy on his face lights up the room as he walks to his room at the inn. |
| Larz_Fang01-29-07, 02:00 AM | Thelron nods "Yes, let's do this." And both enter through the doorway. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-29-07, 09:05 AM | As the professors enter the blue gem's portal, they emerge in a world of pure gray in all directions. This room is seemingly endless and it is hard to discern the floor from anything else here. You seem to be floating but know you are standing on a solid surface. "Here we are, I commisioned a great psion to make this plane for me so that I could test spells and store things in its many hidden compartments, it was a costly copper to get him to do it too. If you need some terrain to see that damage than feel free to will it to the landscape you desire." Paraclesius says and waves a hand to make a shelf appear and grabs an empty book off it and waves his hand for the shelf to disappear again. "Just taking some notes if thats fine with you." |
| SeptimusMagistos01-29-07, 08:21 PM | Septimus watches Ronan walk off. "That boy has a lot of talent in him." |
| Larz_Fang01-31-07, 02:50 AM | OOC: Sorry for the delay, yesterday's connection errors came on a bad time. Luckily I saved what I wrote. BIC:"That's fine. Oh, but we definately need some protection from this one." Thelron closes his eyes and a barrier of material that is both metallic and crystal-like raises from the ground around them. Then a dome-shaped energy shield covers the space above them. The old sage opens his eyes again. "That should do it. Now, observe. I will first invoke the first form of the spell. People usually call it the Basic Nuclear Blast." Thelron mumbles some words and raises his palm to point to the sky. Then an orb-shaped object of orange light appears, and it turns quickly into a orb of fire with black-coated green central. "There. Now I'll throw it to the danger zone." The sage throws the the orb right throught the shield above them, and the orb moves quickly towards it target. When it hits, it detonates with big explosion, from which slowly forms a 400 meters tall mushroom-shaped cloud. The explosion emanates a big "BOOM"-like sound, and the shockwave from the blast shakes the barrier. Where once was some ground is now nothing but a rather big crater. |
| Larz_Fang01-31-07, 02:58 AM | "Next up, the Meganuclear Blast. I learned this one about 40 years ago." Again, Thelron mumbles some words and raises his palm to point to the sky. Only this time, the orb he creates is teal-colored, and it is a somehow bigger than the last one. However, like the basic version, it too has black-coated green central. "Now, let's see what kind of destruction this one brings." The sage throws the orb again, and it hits to the exactly same spot. Now the explosion is MUCH bigger and this time it creates a mushroom cloud of one kilometer in height. The sound and blastwave are both much more violent, and the crater that the last one left grows bigger and deeper. "I'd better reinforce our barrier. Even though it is made of cydorium, the next one would wipe it and us out. The shield, however seems to hold well enough." Thelron closes his eyes and raises his staff, and an aura of blue light surrounds him for a while. Then the barrier grows bigger, and the parts that were broken in the two previous blasts are repaired in an instant. "Now, do you have any questions before I blast that place to smithereens?" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata01-31-07, 08:31 AM | Paraclesius takes short quick notes on the different blasts and looks at Thelron when he is spoken to, "Thats an amazing spell there, I've only seen a few other spells that can match that destructive force. I have no questions yet though, please proceed to destroying things." |
| Larz_Fang02-03-07, 07:12 AM | OOC: Once again sorry for the late post, but the technical difficulties have just kep manifing themselves here at Wizards community. I lost this one, but I think I can write it again. BIC: Thelron nods in agreement and sets himself to casting form. "All right, here goes nothing!" The old sage begins to raise his gnarled staff up, mumbling some ancient words of power while raising the palm of his right hand towards the sky. The process of forming the orb is noticeably slower than the two last ones. "Sorry, this is harder when you haven't tried it before. Hopefully I succeed." Then, a few seconds later the fiery orb is complete. Like the last two, it has a green-coated black central, but this time the fire is purple-colored instead. "Yes, I did it! Excellent! Power of the Giganuclear Blast! HAAAA!!!" With that yell, Thelron throws the orb once again right through the shield above, and as always, it lands perfectly to the same spot as the other ones. The explosion it creates is absolutely immense, and the strength of the blastwave shatters the first two layers of their cydorium barrier, but the last one holds, as does the dome-shield. The mushroom cloud that the explosion left is like a monstrously gigantic ghost, and it extends to near 4 kilometers in length. Once again the crater just got bigger, almost twice the size it was before. "Wow, that's one heck of a spell. Not many people get to feel such power in their lives, not even in the outer planes. That explosion was so powerful that I don't know if I want to actually use it at the arena." He turns to Paraclesius. "The test is complete. Shall we go back now?" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata02-03-07, 08:53 AM | Paraclesius nods his approval of the spell and forgets to take notes as the gigantic blast sweeps across the landscape. After regaining his bearings he uses a spell to have the notes take themselves quickly, "Thats quite an awesome spell. Yeh lets get out of here before this last barrier gives way to the residual effects of the spell. I'm surprised there wasnt a residual anti-magic field actually." He waves his hand for the gateway to open back up. He motions for Thelron to step through and glances back to see his plane slowly repairing itself. |
| SeptimusMagistos02-03-07, 06:26 PM | Septimus passes by the reemerging men. "How did it go?" |
| Larz_Fang02-05-07, 02:51 AM | Thelron passes through the portal just in the nick of time to hear Septimus' question. "Quite well, actually. The spell's power was a bit bigger than I imagined, though. Oh, by the way just that you know... umm... it's Paraclesius, right? Anyway, I didn't want to risk that the spell would be unmade by an antimagic field. Also, I have some bad experiences of the usage of antimagic, so I wouldn't even consider using it unless it was an emergency." That said, Thelron hurries to look out of a window near them to the tournament arena. He notices from the atmosphere that he might be late. He then turns back to the professors. "Anyway, I believe that I have a tournament match to catch. Bye for now and have a good day." The sage raises his gnarled staff and mumbles some words, and then he is once again gone in a bright flash of blue light. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata02-05-07, 10:00 AM | "Ah yes thats understandable, anti-magic can be dangerous if not handled properly. Good luck in your match Thelron." Paraclesius waves his hand at the sage's departure in a manner indicating good luck from some ancient civilization. The wolf devil turns back to Septimus, "How are things schoolmaster? You seem busy so I wont keep you, I myself have a class soon." |
| Steropes02-05-07, 12:23 PM | Steropes steps in to the school followed by a small halfling like creature. He starts to look at someone who can escort him to Septimus. |
| SeptimusMagistos02-08-07, 06:02 PM | "Well enough. Now I think someone is looking for me." Septimus appeared next to Stereopes "My Headmaster Alarm informed me there was a visitor. What can I do for you?" |
| Steropes02-09-07, 10:09 AM | "I'm here to make an offer for you. As you know, I've collected many books of magic and a like in my long travels and I'm willing to give your school access, but only if you can teach him.. Where did.." Steropes casts spell and the same halfling like creature appears again. Steropes graps from it. "As I was going to say, you will have to prove that your school is worthy and train a fine wizard from this kendar. Do we have a deal?" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata02-09-07, 03:17 PM | Paraclesius smiles and bows at the schoolmaster's need to disappear. He pulls a sheet of parchment from his robes and looks it over, "Ah yes my afternoon class is starting soon." He seats himself at his desk once again and returns to his reading of a tome. The students begin pouring in one by one and Paraclesius waits until they are seated and reasonably quiet, "Alright class are we ready to begin..." |
| Lord_Gareth02-10-07, 08:32 PM | Syra slides out of a shadow in the library, holding her side in pain. The old wound has opened from her last fight, and she wasn't feeling that great mentally either. "BARTLEMAEUS! WHERE ARE YA, I'VE NO TIME TO SEARCH THIS DAMNED LIBRARY!" |
| Gideon_Gideonson02-10-07, 10:01 PM | Bartelemus appears, coughing heavily, in a flash of dust and falling paper. "I...hope you'll *cough* excuse my...*wheeze* disheveled appearance. I was just...looking through some of the *cough* dustier rooms." He waves a hand haphazardly and the dust vanishes. "*cough*...Ah...now, what was it you wanted?" Suddenly he notices Syra's injury. "Syra, what happened? Here..." He lays his hand on Syra's side, and his eyes go white as tomes of medicine and healing flow through him. |
| Lord_Gareth02-10-07, 10:03 PM | Syra grunts softly as the healing spreads through her. "Just a fight, signed up for that tournament. That moon master will pay later. But I have more important news for you. I've found your daughter, but it ain't pretty." |
| Gideon_Gideonson02-10-07, 10:05 PM | Bartelemus looks at Syra in ecstatic shock, and then falls gracefully backwards, completely unconscious. |
| Lord_Gareth02-10-07, 10:15 PM | Syra sighs heavily. "When I get back home, I'm buying you some longevity potions and an amulet of perpetual youth. And a puppy." She idly waves her hand, and Bartlemaeus's shadow melds with the old man, jolting him awake and dealing with any wounds he might have. She plucks a book from the shelf, setting it down. "Here we are. You want the good news, the bad news, or the 'some dark god must hate me very much' news?" |
| Gideon_Gideonson02-10-07, 10:22 PM | Bartelemus gestures, and two armchairs form from the air around him. He falls heavily into one and puts his hands to his temples as he looks at Syra. "Let's have the good news first...then I want to know what we're up against." The puppy was a great touch! :D |
| Lord_Gareth02-10-07, 10:29 PM | "Well, the good news is that I can get you, me, and any number of people where we need to go. The bad news is that the particular destination is the Plane of Shadows." She opens the book, skimming to a particular page. She passes her hand over it, and the text in a particular passage turns white as the page around it turns black. "..recently, I have found that travel through the Shadow is dangerous. Increased activities of both undead and creatures of darkness most foul have picked up, and, even more strangely, monstrosities of shade and blood forcibly melded together. The Order of .... "The very bad news is she's hooked up with my father." |
| Gideon_Gideonson02-10-07, 10:39 PM | Bartelemus sits with his mouth open in shock. "Your...your...how? How did you learn this? What can I do? He's the lord of shadows, is he not? How can I fight that?" |
| Lord_Gareth02-10-07, 10:45 PM | "I sent my Shadowguard after your daughter, remember? She hasn't failed yet. And maybe you didn't notice, but my Shadowguard is back at my side." Syra points to the shadow she is casting. "As to fighting my father, the Lord of Shadows...well, that part will be a bit more difficult. Personally, I'd be more concerned with this blood god posessing your daughter. I have an idea for fighting Konvinax, but this blood deity of yours is a complete blank. What we need is some help, and a bit of muscle. If you hadn't noticed, the two of us are easily breakable and happen to make Grade A predator snacks." She snaps the book shut and replaces it. "You have any ideas?" |
| Gideon_Gideonson02-10-07, 10:49 PM | "No, but this is the battle royale. Muscle is only a few feet away at any time...it shouldn't be to hard to find a few people to assist. I'd say this is where we ask at the Tavern...there's muscle aplenty there." And here, I am afraid, I must leave off for now. My apologies. |
| Lord_Gareth02-10-07, 10:56 PM | "Alright. See if any of the teachers here can scrounge up some items or send talented students. I doubt they'd come themselves, but we can pray. I'll get some bashers from the Taverne and see what we can do. Here's praying." She slips into a shadow and vanishes. Alrighty then, see ya later |
| Sorcen_Anenooata02-10-07, 11:49 PM | OOC: Feel free to ask Paraclesius for a reference and if no one will mind then I'll be using my sandman planeswalker(MTG version), LeVeldrin the Somniscient. He didnt get used as much as I would have liked in the Caben battle so I need an excuse to try out his abilities and this seems like a perfect chance. |
| Lord_Gareth02-14-07, 02:05 PM | "Bartlemaeus." Syra slips out of the sage's shadow, her voice tense and her face forcedly nuetral. "It's time to go to the Taverne. Come on." |
| Inaya_Elrissa02-14-07, 02:29 PM | And together the old man and the young shadowmancer walk from the school. |
| Lord_Gareth02-14-07, 02:32 PM | Wrong account again :P |
| Gideon_Gideonson02-14-07, 03:25 PM | Damn...you're right. That's probably going to happen every now and then...i'll try to prevent it though. |
| SeptimusMagistos02-14-07, 10:11 PM | "Sure. I find kenders less annoying than most people do." |
| Steropes02-15-07, 01:27 PM | "Very well then. Now I'll make my leave" Steropes walks a way. The kendar looks at Septimus. "Soo when am I going to learn how to teleport? Now? Can i wear black ropes? Or become a lich? I've allways wanted to see what happens if skeleton smokes pipe!" |
| SeptimusMagistos02-17-07, 03:24 PM | "Whoa, slow down there. First tell me what magic you already know, if you please. Then I'll know if you can learn teleport. You can wear anything you want, but black magic is forbidden, so you can't be a lich." |
| Steropes02-20-07, 10:11 AM | "Aww... That is not fun! I don't know anything about magic, but I have many magical items! For example this!" The kender studies his bag and pulls out wallet. "This is my uncle Fastfeets (have I told you how he once becomed a dwarvish god? No? Then I'll tell you some day about it) encanted everfull purse!" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata02-20-07, 10:39 AM | Paraclesius begins his lecture for his second class of the day. "Welcome to the Application of Offensive Magicks class, I am your instructor Professor Paraclesius. I know this is a big spell for us to learn about but today we will be learning of the history of the Nova spell. Now which of you can tell me the name of the inventor of the Nova spell?" An elven child with glasses and pale skin raises his hand quietly, Paraclesius nods for the child to speak, "The nova spell was discovered by Walter Alfronsiac, the resident master wizard of the wizard's guild in Karia." Paraclesius seems surprised at the detailed answer and some of the other classmates snicker at the child's obvious nerdiness, "Correct Albert, good job, yes the master wizard Alfronisiac discovered the nova spell in his study while researching how to adapt one's inner energy into a sudden release of great energy. Luckily for the townsfolk his study was far enough away from town for his rat familiar's test of the spell to not harm the town. His rat used this spell and was destroyed in the process but it showed that even the life of a tiny rat would be sufficient to destroy the entire tower and part of the hillside on which it was built upon. Alfronsiac told his council about this spell and it was locked away and kept secret for many centuries until an elven assassin named Drake stole the spell..." |
| treetrunker02-27-07, 06:40 PM | Removed |
| Larz_Fang02-28-07, 01:03 PM | Behind the kender Septimus can see a very big golem of flesh with ragged black trousers and a purple cloak hobbling towards him. "Hello, you be Sep... Septe... Septimo... Septimus, yuh? I be Grugol. Cycine say Grugol come here if Grugol want learn magic-making, yes?" |
| SeptimusMagistos03-05-07, 08:27 PM | "Sure. What magic do want to learn?" |
| Larz_Fang03-06-07, 02:01 AM | "Grugol think want to learn warluck magic or war magic. Can Grugol learn to become warluck here? Me old master, Master Khumar want Grugol to be a sorcecer, but Grugol no want be sorcecer. Master Khumar make Grugol from powarfull sorcecers, so Grugol know little magic alredy. Some power Grugol be having be too comp-lee-cated to Grugol, so Grugol not use it anymore. Last time stupid adventurars come steal master's gold, me use big magic and destroy all stoopid adventurars. Grugol still had fix dungeon wall after that, because master no want prisonars escape." |
| NerdNumber103-06-07, 08:50 AM | A winged, black kobold steps out of the shadows and turns to the flesh golem. "Sorcerer magic comes from the blood of dragons as does warlock magic. There is know way to learn it if you weren't born with it." He turns to the teacher. "Do you need an expert in the ways of the dragonheart mage? If so, what is your disaplinary policy?" |
| SeptimusMagistos03-06-07, 05:43 PM | "Nah, that's just a myth. Have you ever met a dragon? I've never seen one who could cast half as well as a competent sorcerer. Really, magic comes from a nexus point within yourself, though it's true that affiliation with certain powers may help you be a warlock. But it seems you already know some magics. The basics should come easily enough if you're truly prepared to learn." |
| NerdNumber103-06-07, 08:32 PM | "I mean to say that you cannot learn sorcerer ability without dragon blood. Refining this ability is what makes the average sorcerer better than the average dragon. As a kobold, the ways of the sorcerer is in my blood. I have, however, heard about beings who have developed sorcerer-like powers from other sorces such as the elemental spirit that animates golems. This method is rare and can cause variations on the normal traits of sorcerers. I also know of golems who have bolted on magical items to mimic casters and others that have had their very bodies turned into magical items with various effects." |
| NerdNumber103-06-07, 09:01 PM | "Oh, on the subject of teaching classes, I will teach basic combat stradegy, the draconic approach to magic, sorcery, and will tutor. I do not, however wish to start teaching without the permission of the administration of this school. I am also interested in what your disciplinary policies are. I'll get back to you, I have to go." He flies out the door. |
| Larz_Fang03-07-07, 08:13 AM | "Grugol has gift in magic because master Khumar make Grugol different from other flesh golums. At beginning, Grugol have some intel-leegence not like other golums, they be mindless. Master Khumar make Grugol a spee-cial prototyp of a magic-making flesh golum, maybe in hope uf making a perfect golum. Grugol read aboot warlocks and how they be having some fiendish power. Grugol know fiendses be evil and they can corupt hu-mans by giving power, but Grugol really can't be corupted becose Grugol is golum. Grugol maybe not smart, but Grugol know what be diff-reence wit good and evil, and Grugol be nee-ther. Can u teach Grugol to be a warlock, Sep-ti-mus?" |
| NerdNumber103-07-07, 08:25 PM | Since all other teachers have been hired, I'll just start teaching. I have a lecture prepared, so I think it can be a limited series if need-be. Kurthix walks into the classroom. "Welcome to "Basic Combat Survival Tactics." I am Kurthix And will be your teacher. In general, arcane spellcasters are frail in combat. Most of our spells are disruped by armor, we focus on our minds instead of our bodies, and commonly fail to train with anything more complex than a club. All of our arcane might does little when something is bashing our brains out with a rock." "One of the most common stradegies is to put someone or something between us and our opponent. Vethiloex, troth!" A horrid weasle bounds into the room and jumps in front of Kurthix Snarling at the class. "Ssifiv." The weasle calms and walks over to the corner to lay down. "The nature of the bodyguard is a point of personal preferance. I have seen golems, mundain fighters, all sorts of exotic beasts, summoned creatures, and undead. A variation of this tactic is the use of magical barriers such as wall of fire." "The next survival tactic is avoidance. Many spells can be used at a range, keep a little room between you and your opponent. Mounts can help in this reguard, but I find flight and burrowing very effective. For example, my wings allow me to evade many enemies. Variations of this include concealment, using invisibility, darkness, etc., and diversion, such as mirror image and illusions." "The last and most difficult tactic is to use training and acane ability to beat your enemy at their own game. This is an advanced skill that may disrupt ones arcane development. That being said, it can be the most shocking attack when the frail mage beats the mighty warrior in melee combat. Take myself for instance, not only am I a mage, but a 3 foot tall mage. And yet..." A tanslucent tail grows from his own and shashes the stone floor, breaking off large chunks of it. "I can beat back some of the greatest foes. I suggest you all form your own defences. I plan on testing you soon. Enix will stay and answer any questions you might have. I have business elsewhere." And with that he walks out of the room. |
| NerdNumber103-07-07, 09:59 PM | How was my first lecture? Anyone want to attend more? |
| Sorcen_Anenooata03-08-07, 12:03 PM | OOC: Nice lecture. I usually break mine into seperate posts to make them last longer but thats just my style. Anyway on to my lecture. BIC: "The assassin Drake stole the Nova spell from the crazed wizard and took it to his base camp with the Tgrstr race. He could not read the spell himself so he gave it to them as a gift for letting him stay, during his time there he also taught them his ways of assassinating and theiving, so if you ever need an assassin you should hire a Tgrstr. The spell was passed down through the lines of the race of tiger-men and still can be found among them today. Unbeknowst to the Tgrstrs, the assassin kept a copy of the spell and, although he could not learn it, his apprentice could and did. We have a proud member of the Tgrstrs here in Baator serving as a lord of a layer, he is Drakyll." He turns to his board and draws a symbol on it. It has wide arcs and a sort of lightning symbol drawn in teh center under the arcs. "This... is the symbol used by the spellweavers to describe the Nova spell. I believe that is enough of discussing this spell for today, we are almost out of time. Read about the demonic delayed blast lightning in your books, for we shall be discussing this in class tomorrow." As he finishes his sentence the students begin closing their books and leaving the classroom. Paraclesius meanwhile sits himself down at his desk and flips his dusty tome back open and begins reading it once again. |
| SeptimusMagistos03-08-07, 05:17 PM | OOC: The lectures have been excellent so far. BIC: A small letter with wings reaches the kobold. As it comes right near him, its wings fall off and the envelope melts, leaving only the message. Thank you for applying to teach in our school. You have been accepted. The disciplanary policies are fairly liberal, but anything that causes students pain, injuries, or deep-set emotional scars is highly discouraged. Meanwhile, Septimus affirms his ability to teach the golem the way of the warlock. For his first exercise, he is to practice using the Eldrich Ray in one of the safe rooms. |
| NerdNumber103-08-07, 07:44 PM | You know that kobold disapline tecniques are basically instructional pain, like a switch or ruler smack on the hand. Nothing major. He may also use instructive fear (draconic presence). |
| SeptimusMagistos03-10-07, 12:46 PM | You know that kobold disapline tecniques are basically instructional pain, like a switch or ruler smack on the hand. Nothing major. He may also use instructive fear (draconic presence). Seems acceptable. However, some students may react negatively to this. |
| SeptimusMagistos03-11-07, 02:16 PM | Septimus catches up with the black kobold. "Excuse me, could you explain to me what you meant about the connection between dragon blood and sorcery? I mean, I know that some dragons can learn magic by giving up their magical breath and magic resistance, but why would dragons be related to sorcerers in general?" |
| NerdNumber103-14-07, 10:06 AM | "As you well know, kobolds descend from dragons and 1/4 of our population has some power of sorcery. All true dragons develop sorcery at some point during their lives and beings with dragon blood are more prone to sorcery. If you take the average human or demihuman and compare it to the average dragon, who is a greater sorcerer? The dragon! The conection between dragonblood and sorcery is well established. Even wizardry can be connected to dragons. Most of your words of power are taken from the draconic tongue. Also, I would suggest you not question the power of dragons to other kobolds or dragons, they will most likey take it as an insult to their honor and may try to kill you." For ooc reasons, look at the sorcerer's description in the phb, races of the dragon, and dragon magic. |
| SeptimusMagistos03-14-07, 05:30 PM | "Amazing. Where I come from, most dragons can't do magic. I mean, their flight seems mostly magica, as is their breath, and they're almost impossible to hurt with magic, but I've never imagined a whole race of dragons as spellcasters." |
| SeptimusMagistos03-14-07, 05:46 PM | While the other parts of Septimus continue on with their business, one of them enters a classroom. "Welcome to Intro to Reality, my good students. Before you can do magic on any advanced level, you must first understand the nature of magic. And before you can do that, you must learn about magic in conjunction with the non-magic. That is the purpose of this course. Now, what is reality. Take this rock." Septimus lifts a rock off his desk "I think everyone would agree it's a rock. What they'd disagree with is what else it is. Some would say that this is a common mineral Galon, approximately 2.5 pounds of it. Some would say that it is a lot of atoms formed from protons, neutrons, and electrons, combined in covalent bonds. Some would say that it is merely a shadow of the great concept of Rockness, a projection of it upon reality. Some would say it is a piece of an ancient earth elemental, an enchanted prince who can be brought back to life by the tears of 100 virgins, a primitive weapon, a good counterweight, a resting place for a slug, food for a Stone Titan, and so much raw stone to be converted into industrial gravel. What is it really? You'll have to deside that on your own, by combining the stories and filtering out the parts you don't think are true. Maybe you'll go with one of these explanations, or several, or none of them. You'll just have to figure out reality-and this rock-on your own. Of course, it might still surprise you." At this moment, the rock cracked, broke, and a small stone griffin crawled out, spread its wings, flew around the room, and out the door. "Reality is unpredictable, especially when magic is involved. Remember that students. I'll see you tomorrow, and I expect an essay on the nature of reality from all of you." Septimus walks back out. |
| Larz_Fang03-15-07, 08:08 AM | Grugol walks to the black kobold and Septimus' part. "Meh, dragon blood not be de only source of sorcerous magic. Me old master told me that not all of the greatist sorcecers have dragon blood. In ancient times hu-manoid bloodlanes were mixid wid blood frum all kainds of magical creaturs. Some hu-manoids had dragon blood, some had fey blood, othars had fiend or celestial blood. Master Khumar make Grugol from body parts of great hu-man sorcecers which some be having dragon blood but not all. When master make me, me listens well to master and gain powarfull insight of me origin. Me find out dat master have plans to make speecial arcane-craftid constructs, such ash flesh golums like Grugol." The golem digs out a small device that looks like a golden key at first but then it becomes noticeable that it is more complex than a key. "Grugol dig this out from the old archaives and see that master's plans be hidden here, but now Grugol not have the old reading device or other meens to open it's seecrets, so Grugol need somewun's help." |
| SeptimusMagistos03-15-07, 11:06 AM | "Hm. This one looks complicated. It probably can't be solved by magic, either. We may need someone good at solving ancient secrets. I wonder if that sage I hired is still in the library." |
| NerdNumber103-17-07, 07:50 PM | "Even if you don't need the dragon blood, there are rituals that could give you a little draconic power. I also have heard of a golem kingdom inhabited by inteligent golems." |
| SeptimusMagistos03-18-07, 03:36 PM | "I still can't quite believe it. Dragons are sorcerers. Not just an exception, in general. This world is strange indeed. But then again, where I'm from, there is no Sorcen. Baator is ruled by Mephistophiles." |
| NerdNumber103-18-07, 04:11 PM | "Of course the dragons aren't born sorcerers, they develop powers later, slowly. Also, many lesser dragons lack such powers. In other worlds I have visited, even the most animalistic dragons have some connection to magic, such as a magic resisting hide." |
| Larz_Fang03-19-07, 06:45 AM | The flesh golem gives both the magician and the kobold an angry look. "Be you saying that Grugol not smart, kobald? Grugol be smart enough! And Sep-ti-mus, why you not know that Mep-histoo-pheles only master in da eight hell of Baator (that be Cania, Grugol think). Big archdevil Asmodeus be grand duke of Baator, and even be that so, da great half-devil demigod Tazros find Mep-histoo-pheles' true name and make da archdevil be his servant after epic battle forty years ago. Tazros be ruling Cania now, not Mep-histoo-pheles, but Asmodeus still be da grand duke of Baator. If this be part of Baator and this 'Sorcen' you spoke of be leader here, then Grugol not know what part of Baator this place be. Me not hear of any Sorcen before." |
| SeptimusMagistos03-20-07, 05:31 PM | "I think we may be from different worlds, friend. In my reality, Mephistophiles challenged Asmodeus for dominance after the Faust affair. They fought for ten days and nights, but in the end Mephistophiles compressed Asmodeus into a quantum singularity, and took over the rule of the Nine Hells of Baator. In here, it would appear that Sorcen has achieved dominance. I suppose Hell's rulership could have gone a lot of different ways." |
| Larz_Fang03-21-07, 08:54 AM | "Wait, be that meaning that there be more than one Nine Hells of Baator? Or be we from different times? Maybe Grugol travel back in time? Or maybe Sep-ti-mus travel back in time? Or maybe, maybe foward in time? Oh, Grugol now be so confused!" |
| SeptimusMagistos03-22-07, 05:45 PM | "Okay. You see, there are such things as alternate histories. Each alternate history has a Point of Deviation compared to the history you're in, which is the historical event that went differently. But we're from alternate realities. Rather than one Point of Deviation, there are many fundamental differences in every aspect of it." |
| Larz_Fang03-23-07, 06:18 AM | "Grugol kind of know before that there be other dimensions, but never would poor Grugol think that there be other bigger dimensions surrounding the other dimensions..." |
| SeptimusMagistos03-24-07, 01:21 PM | "Yes. It can get pretty confusing, can't it? Still, most of the time you don't have to worry about things like that. Not unless you plan on being a history teacher of some sort." |
| Larz_Fang03-26-07, 01:28 AM | "That be good, becoose Grugol not here tee-ching. Grugol be here to learn. So, where be the guy that teach me war magic? And what we gonna do with this thingy?" The golem points at the strange, golden key-gizmo in his hand. |
| SeptimusMagistos03-26-07, 05:08 PM | "Well, I think that the mystery of that object comes first. Here, let's start with this." Septimus cast legend lore on the gizmo. |
| Larz_Fang03-28-07, 04:21 AM | When Septimus casts the spell, the golden object glows bright yellow for a while. After it stops glowing, the knowledge of the gadget fills the magician's mind. The spell tells Septimus the following information: This device is a rare informational storage device known in the common tongue as Faraios's Golden Archive, and operating it requires a specific reading/recording machine. To build such machine you need 30 pounds of adamantium, 30 pounds of mithril, 50 pounds of gold, 100 pounds of steel and 20 pounds of sapphires. After that, the specific knowledge of how to build the machine comes clear to Septimus. Grugol the flesh golem looks at the wizard with delight speaks. "So, you know what to do now, Sep-ti-mus?" |
| SeptimusMagistos03-29-07, 05:18 PM | "To the stockroom!" Septimus charges forth. He rushes into a room that's much larger on the inside than it is on the outside. It's covered in all sorts of things, including mundane items, desks, priceless treasure, and minor magical items. In the middle of the room, there is a mountain of the more expensive items, on which there lies a Gargantuan dragon, with grayish scales. "What? You're not supposed to be here! Get out immediately!" The dragon glances at Septimus and yawns, fire showing in the throat. "Darn it. That dragon's from my home reality. They're nearly invulnerable to magic. Even my Staff of Penetration won't kill one of them, because they've got some loophole. Arrgh! Spell Resistance annoys me!" |
| Larz_Fang03-30-07, 06:44 AM | "Grugol can do something to that, yes. Stand back, Sep-ti-mus!" The flesh golem unites his two hands for a moment until a strange, reddish glow emanates from the inside of his closed palms. Then, Grugol quickly separates his two hands, and between his hands forms a glowing red orb which is still connected to the golem's hands with similarily glowing red rays. After the orb is the size of a standard human head, he rapidly raises his hands to get the glowing orb above his head. As the orb grows more and becomes bigger than it's wielder, Grugol falls to his knees(or rather one knee and one foot). The golem raises his head and throws the red orb straight towards the dragon. As the orb connects with the wyrm's body, the red glow quickly starts to surround it. "Cover your eyes! Hurry!" As the dragon's form becomes completely overwhelmed by the red glow, Grugol quickly covers his eyes. Finally, after a loud "KHOOOM!" -noice, the dragon vanishes in a blinding flash of red light. |
| SeptimusMagistos03-30-07, 05:24 PM | As the light dissipates, the dragon is still there, slightly disgruntled. "Uh, we may need someone to help us with this one. I can only speak Draconic on basic level, and even translation spells won't affect that thing." The cobold receives another message. It reads: Dragon situation in the stockroom. Translation necessary. Please arrive at your earliest convenience. |
| Larz_Fang03-31-07, 04:19 AM | Umm, that spell was not an attack spell, Septimus. It does NOT do damage. It's a spell called "Orb of Returning", and it was supposed to transfer the dragon back to the place where it was before. Maybe when Grugol does it, it looks a lot like an attack spell, but that's because it's hard to do that for a dragon that big. Also, it doesn't allow spell resistance, but does allow will save. :nonono: "Huh? It no work? Grugol sure it work. Ach, dumm dragons! They be having too good willpower!" |
| SeptimusMagistos03-31-07, 05:33 PM | Umm, that spell was not an attack spell, Septimus. :nonono: OOC: That doesn't really matter. The dragons from Septimus's home world have something like an antimagic field in their outline. They can't be affected by any sort of magic, including beneficial, anti-magical, or even magic that would normally disallow SR. Furthermore, they dissipate magic in whatever they touch when they're so inclined, making even such feats as sending golems against them nigh uselsess. BIC: Septimus frowns. "That's why dragons annoy me. Don't worry, we can't touch it, but it can't touch us either. All it really has to go on is breathe fire on us." Septimus cast Protection from Fire on both of them. |
| Larz_Fang04-03-07, 02:35 AM | In the recent words of Black Mage: Well that's NOT FAIR! (Also, could you please, please, please correct the post where ye wrote that the treasure got damaged? Because how can an antimagic-suppressed spell that doesn't deal any damage in the first place damage any kind of treasure? Surely the treasure is gold and not some dry clay that breaks from the smallest breeze that hits it. "So gray dragons can breathe fire too? Grugol thought only red and gold dragons breathe fire. In Grugol's world, there are also other dragons that not many other worlds have. We have also mithril dragons, adamantine dragons, yellow dragons, cyan dragons, moon dragons and the list just goes on and on. Heh, we even have elemental dragons like water and earth dragons. Wind dragons can be real nasty if they notice you, because they like playing pranks on you, like summoning whirlwinds to your direction. Grugol was once caught in one while master Khumar sent me buy stuff in town. Grugol never see a gray dragon before, though." |
| SeptimusMagistos04-03-07, 05:36 PM | OOC: Post fixed. BIC: "They're the standard dragons in my reality, actually. They've pushed out most other dragons by the virtue of superior magical resistance. Not all of them breathe fire. Some do acids or posionous gases. Still, I may need to handle this one with diplomacy. Which is bad, because I usually use spells to enhance diplomacy." Septimus ran out of the room. A moment later, a white orb of pure energy appeared. As it dicipated, Septimus came out. "Well, I'm back from the future. I know Draconic now and I developed a spell which can let me pass on an understanding of Draconic to you too. We'll try to talk that dragon into submission." |
| SeptimusMagistos04-09-07, 12:30 PM | Septimus casts his spell and attempts to talk to the dragon "Hello. I am Septimus. This is Grugol. What are you doing here?" The dragon answered in broken Draconic. "I be the greet and powerful dragon Ironfang, c'sin of Prince Ironscale the Invincible, and nefew of King Ironwing. This be my treasure!" "Oh, great. Apparently now I can't even have someone come and excort him off the premises physically because that would violate the treaty I made with Irontail. Why me?" |
| Larz_Fang04-10-07, 02:28 AM | OOC: Sorry for my absence. Had a lot of stuff to do. A bit too much for one 6'6'' ogre to do. So there's two Septimuses now? (is that even a correct plural? Note to self: look for the rule that states the correct plural for names that end with the letter 's'.) BIC: The flesh golem looks once again confused. "Aach! What does that mean? Who be this Irontail you speak of? Is he another dragon like this guy? And what treaty you be having with him?" |
| SeptimusMagistos04-10-07, 12:01 PM | OOC: Sorry for my absence. Had a lot of stuff to do. A bit too much for one 6'6'' ogre to do. So there's two Septimuses now? (is that even a correct plural? Note to self: look for the rule that states the correct plural for names that end with the letter 's'.) OOC: Actually, Septimus simply went off to learn another language (And is now in a quiet chamber somewhere) and then came back to the time right after he left. So yes, there are technically two Septimuses, but one is not going to show up. Of course, there are always several Septimuses running around by virtue of a spell. BIC: Septimus answers the question. "Yes. It's like I told you, he's from my home reality. He's from the Iron Mountains, which border my home kingdom of Nor. These mountain have all sorts of iron things-iron golems, iron men, iron mines, and, of course, the Iron Dragon Tribe. There was some unpleasantness with that tribe about 10 years ago, so I had to help make a treaty with King Irontail. Apparently, he's dead now, and his son Ironwing now rules. The treaty would be broken by violence on royal family. Now I need to figure out a reason he doesn't want to be here, preferrably without emptying the treasury." |
| Larz_Fang04-12-07, 02:06 AM | "Hmmm... How about we get someone really annoying to bother him? But there be one problem... if Ironfang be violent, we must protect the guy that is to annoy him. You know anybody like that, Septimus? Grugol think that kender guy who you talk with before Grugol come here be pretty annoying." |
| SeptimusMagistos04-14-07, 04:46 PM | "That's brilliant! The dragon could get violent, but luckily my spells can protect someone, though they can't harm the dragon. It might be tough finding someone annoying, though. I'll try for the kender." Septimus sent a note to the kender cordially requesting said kender's presence in the treasury. |
| SeptimusMagistos04-27-07, 06:14 PM | "Okay. He's not responding. So, I'll have to try something really annoying to these dumb beasts-logic." Septimus turns to the dragon. "Consider an imaginary universe-that's right, not a multiverse, but a universe- in which there are only four major forces: The strong nuclear force, the weak nuclear force, the electromagnetic force, and gravity. Even in such a universe, it would be very hard indeed to determine reality absolutely due to the variations in the wave-particle interactions and the differences in the perception of time and space which actually define it to a degree. Absolute knowledge would be rather problematic, would it not? How much greater then must the uncertainty be in our multiverse, which is affected by several more forces, such as magic, the mental force, the divine force, the various elemental, para-elemental, quasi-elemental, and so on, the shadow force, the positive and negative energy, and a plethora of others, including Mysterium, which may be a single force or a collection of forces. Certainly, we have not yet come close to fully understanding Mysterium, or even detecting it, but we are fairly sure it affects everything. In such an unstable framework of reality there is almost zero chance of anything being absolutely true. And if you consider the various realities, that chance drops to sub-zero. There is just no way to know anything. For example, there is no way to know you're here. In fact, statistical evidence indicates you're much more likely to be in your home reality than in this one. Therefore, you must in fact be there." The dragon blinked and vanished. "There, that got rid of him, though it'll have negative consequences at some future point. Let's get back to your device, shall we?" |
| Larz_Fang04-28-07, 07:04 AM | As Septimus looks at Grugol, he notices the flesh golem is sitting on the floor and holding his head with obvious pain. "Yea... let's be doing that... Oww..." |
| SeptimusMagistos04-28-07, 03:27 PM | Septimus clicks his fingers. A warforged slides in with protrubing tools sticking out of his back. "You called, Septimus?" "Yes, if you please, could you construct a device to the following specifications:" Septimus repeats the procedure and the warforged builds it at amazing speed. Within ten minutes, it is complete. "Thank you. That will be all." "Sure thing, boss." The warforged walks out. |
| Larz_Fang05-03-07, 06:31 AM | (Damn, double post) |
| Larz_Fang05-03-07, 06:33 AM | "Yea! Metal man make reading machina! Grugol can use gold device now! Whee!!!" With that, Grugol digs up the golden device from the pocket of his trousers and looks at it with great satisfaction. (:D) "Now... we take a look at Master Khumar's projects." The golem inserts the device to the reading machine, pushes some buttons, (:bump:) and the machine starts to hum and whirr. Then finally, above the machine appears a glowing, threedimensional screen that reads: System procedure complete...100111010100011101011010100 1010100101101010001001010101010101000010 101001100010110 Supplemental archive detected...01010101010101011010011 1010101010101010010010100010010101010001 010010101010001 Downloading information...(1%)0101001110101010111011 001 "Uh... this maybe take some time..." |
| SeptimusMagistos05-05-07, 03:19 PM | "Huh. Didn't see that coming." |
| Larz_Fang05-07-07, 04:45 AM | After 4 minutes of waiting, the machine's interface shows: System procedure complete...100111010100011101011010100 1010100101101010001001010101010101000010 101001100010110 Supplemental archive detected...01010101010101011010011 1010101010101010010010100010010101010001 010010101010001 Downloading information...(7%)0101001110101010111011 001 "Ok, this be going very slow... a lot slower Grugol remember the old machine work... is there maybe something Grugol can do while machine pro-cess the informashuun, Septimus? Maybe Grugol do some errand, yes?" |
| SeptimusMagistos05-08-07, 05:28 PM | "Sure. But first, could you tell me your guess as to what this machine might reveal?" |

| dragor_shadowfury05-10-07, 02:24 PM | Munchlord came walking into the area. "greetings, my name is Munchlord, and who do i have the pleasure of meeting?" He is rather interested in the device they have been working with. |
| Larz_Fang05-11-07, 02:34 AM | The flesh golem turns towards the Munchlord with a slight expression of anger on it's face. "Ach! Can you no see we be having pri-vate conver-saation? If you must know, me be Grugol and this be Septimus Magistos. He own school and you must ask his permission to be here, unless you be a mage or wish to become one. And this machina not be your concern until we agree to say otherwise!!!" As the golem finishes it's ranting and opens it's eyes, it continues: "Uh, me be sorry. Not mean to say it like that, but machina put Grugol on da edge there, because it jUST WON'T WOR... Ugh damn, calm down, Grugol, calm down..." |
| dragor_shadowfury05-11-07, 04:26 AM | You are forgiven for your anger. I happen to be a mage, and i wandered here in the hope to find some lore that i did not allready possess. See I seek lore primarily, and I can't help but to be interested when i run across a magical crafting. I am a seasoned magic itme crafter myself. |
| SeptimusMagistos05-11-07, 03:14 PM | "Hello there. You say you know of magical craftings? Perhaps you could offer some insight on what to do when a machine works slowly." |
| EpicEvokerElf05-11-07, 05:06 PM | A small, nondescript young man dressed in drab brown clothes approaches the School (on foot). He has a pair of thick, square glasses perched on his small nose, which is buried in a paperback book that looks to be about 250 pages long (he's on page 197). He walks right up to the doors, to the point where he stubs his toe on one of them. Then he stops. Without raising his gaze, he knocks quietly on the great doors. |
| dragor_shadowfury05-12-07, 04:31 PM | I may be able to help, but I can't do much without knowing the items function. Of course it would be of most use if I know how it was constructed. In chase you posses these informations I would not need the time to examine the item to determine it. Then the newcomer knock the door. oh it seems you have yet another guest. |
| SeptimusMagistos05-13-07, 12:15 PM | "Oh, my. This certainly is a popular place today." Septimus shimmers and splits in two. One goes to the door to greet the new guest while the other takes a moment to contemplate Munchlord. |

Then all of a sudden, an incorporeal, ghost-like form of Thelron the Knowledgeable charges through the ceiling of the room. "AAAH!!! It's the Umar Witch!!!" "Septimus, thank Boccob I found you, it seems like I've gotten myself on quite the trouble." |
| SeptimusMagistos05-14-07, 05:11 PM | "See what I mean? All right, what's your problem?" |
| EpicEvokerElf05-14-07, 06:08 PM | "Hello?" the man mumbles, not raising his eyes from the page. He tries pulling on the door, but it doesn't budge. "Student here, Septimus." |
| Larz_Fang05-15-07, 02:50 AM | "Remember when I had my tournament battle? I used all my power to seal Siventarr away into the very demiplane he himself opened a portal into. However, by doing so my soul also got separated from my physical essence, which means that my contingency plan to revive myself failed, and now my body lies in my tower's revival chamber and I am not able to get to it. I must get into it quickly before the essence of a demigod that my order uses to make a desperate last-resort super transformation (which you propably saw me do in my battle) breaks free and takes control over my body." "Uh, we must help this guy!" |
| dragor_shadowfury05-15-07, 08:46 AM | I agree, a Demigod running amok would certainly not be a favorable position. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-15-07, 09:03 AM | Paraclesius's ears perk up as he hears the knocking on the great doors of the entrance to the school. The wolf devil suddenly fades from view, reappearing a moment later near the doors and opens them for the young man. "Hello young student, welcome to Septimus's Magic School, please come in." The diabolic wolf-man bows and motions for the young man to come in. OOC: Sorry if I misread which doors you were at. |
| EpicEvokerElf05-15-07, 03:37 PM | "Hello. You must be Paraclesius," he says softly, his diction clear. "I'm here to ask about an apprenticeship. Do you have an opening?" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-15-07, 04:19 PM | "Yes I am professor Paraclesius, sorry my absence of manners in my introduction. I do indeed have an opening for an apprentice. What are your credentials that would persuade me to pick you as an apprentice. Please follow me and we will speak on the way." The devil closes the door behind the young man and begins walking down the hallway in the general direction of his office. |
| EpicEvokerElf05-15-07, 05:06 PM | "My credentials are thus, sir. I studied for five years at the Uhjalthar College of Magic. I am here on reccomendation from Headmaster Mavlecc for continued studies, despite my marks which are little better than average. In the words of the head, 'I require an engaging instructor due to my fairly poor attention span.' I in fact have exausted the College's library and confounded my last three instructors with various paradoxes. I trust that a being of such prodidgious intelligence as yourself will not be so susceptible." He said all of this very quickly, and in a more vivacious voice than his usual drab monotone. His paperback was gone, tucked into one of his many deep pockets. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-15-07, 06:12 PM | "Ah then you are indeed worthy of my tutelage. I enjoy paradoxes, especially the grandfather paradox. To think that you could be your own grandfather is amazing and even plausible with the ability to time travel that some of the extremely powerful wizards possess." Paraclesius pauses in the hallway and extends his hand to the young man for a handshake, "Welcome aboard...Uh I didnt catch your name pupil." |
| EpicEvokerElf05-15-07, 06:16 PM | The small man grasps Paraclesius' hand and shakes it firmly. "It's Derek, sir. Derek Schmidtke. And about the grandfather paradox: it's possile even without time travel. Marry a widow whose daughter marries your father. Only works for males, though." |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-15-07, 06:51 PM | Paraclesius chuckles at his explanation, "Sorry but I had not heard that one before, good work and quite true. Nice to meet you Derek. I'll show you to a room for you to stay in so you may set your things down. I have class in a few hours so we have some time." The wolf devil resumes walking and has a cheerful smile on his face. |
| EpicEvokerElf05-15-07, 08:11 PM | "Thank you, sir. I'll be there. Your lectures are something of a legend, actually. Where is the room, exactly?" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-15-07, 08:32 PM | Paraclesius smiles and motions toward a door to his left, "Actually here we are. I dont think Septimus will mind you using this room, I'll fill him in when he gets back. My Offensive Magical Philosophy class will be in three hours if you'd like to attend. It will be in room 103 on the right wing." |
| EpicEvokerElf05-15-07, 08:55 PM | Derek pushes the door open and tosses his bag onto the bed. "Thank you Paraclesius, I will be there when it begins. Offensive Magick is by far the most interesting and engaging topic of those I have studied. I'm sure your lecture will be most enlightening." With that, he flops down on the bed beside his pack, the picture of the tired student. "I may catch up on the sleep I missed on the way; plane shifting can cause an accelerated form of jet lag." |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-15-07, 09:13 PM | Paraclesius nods knowingly, "Quite true, if you think thats bad try the jet lag from travelling between dimensions. Have a good rest, look forward to seeing you at my lecture. Oh and thanks for the compliments on my lectures." He turns slowly in case there is a reply and begins to walk to his office, just a few rooms down the hall. |
| EpicEvokerElf05-16-07, 04:42 PM | Derek enters the classroom, his bespectacled eyes taking in everything from the students to the material contents. He glances up at Paraclesuis and asks, "What are we studying today?" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-16-07, 05:47 PM | Paraclesius smiles as Derek walks into the classroom. The students are just getting settled in as the apprentice walks in. "Ah good you made it, we'll be teaching about why offensive magic is used and for what purposes." As the class settles, he stands and motions for Derek to come over to him. "Students, this is my newly appointed apprentice, Derek. He will be helping me with my demonstrations and lectures." He scans the classroom, "Alright then let us begin the lecture for today. Open your textbooks to page 12. Today we are having our intro into the Offensive Magical Philosophy." He pauses and waits for the pages to finish rustling. "Jimi, will you read the first paragraph." The wolf-devil smiles at the skinny little trouble maker in the back of the classroom as he is caught off guard and has to flip his book open. He stumbles over the first few words but regains his articulation and reads through the first paragraph with little trouble. |
| EpicEvokerElf05-18-07, 04:39 PM | "Master?" Derek interjects, before the student begins, "Are we dealing with the mental aspect, the pseudomagical aspect, or the metaphysical aspect, of these theories? I mean, are we discussing the mental preparations for the casting, the spell-spell interactions, or the measurable (though not necessarily physical) results?" |
| SeptimusMagistos05-18-07, 05:28 PM | "This is getting a bit away from me. Who are we supposed to help? What's this about a demigod?" |
| Larz_Fang05-21-07, 03:03 AM | What? Aww, man... Septimus doesn't remember Thelron...? After seeing Septimus's confusion, Thelron's ghostly form tries to come up with an anwser. "Uh, you do recognize who I am, Septimus? It is me, Thelron the Sage, and umm... how should I say this? This demigod named Xarius was captured by my order some odd hundred years before, and he was a powerful druid and also a sorcerer of terrible might. He claimed to be one of few surviving godchildren of a war between him and his godchild siblings. He claimed to have shared some of his father's power with his companions, who were also children of this god of murder, Bhaal. They were the felguard Larz, the assasin-wizard Tyrius, the mage-thief Imoen and the massive warrior Sarevok (though which he claimed their leader, Larz the felguard had killed before and was then later brought back to life). After assaulting our tower and trying to steal some of my order's artifacts, we captured him and bound him as our new source of power. If this being manages to possess my body, it would mean that he could possibly combine his power with mine. Even if that does not happen, the magical might of my body alone is greater than that of three normal wizards combined. With my selection of spells, he would propably annihilate this school at once and take Sorcen's place as the ruler of this hell. We cannot let him come back, because if he does, he will be a serious threat to this place, for he is so twisted and evil that he will not leave anything standing in his wake and every life he takes just makes him stronger no matter how insignificant that life is." "That sounds very bad, we must not waste time sitting here! Let's go!" | Dex05-21-07, 09:05 AM | While the apparation speaks, in the entrance hall there is something happening. A faint, tiny and nearly invisible image of a person appears on one of the walls, and seems to be walking forwards. As the figure "approaches", the image gets more solid and larger, revealing itself to be a humanoid dressed in a long black coat, tall broad-brimmed hat and with a set of dark goggles over his eyes. The nature of the wall's texture obscures fine detail. The newcomer keeps on advancing until the image is life-sized against the wall, and smacks his head on the other side of the wall's surface and stumbles back. "Ouch." He rubs his head, and more carefully makes his way through the wall's surface, stepping out into the hall. He is human at first glance: emancipated and thin for his just under seven foot height, or seven and three inches if you count the tall crown of his wide brimmed hat. His pale skin and hairlessness could be normal, but this person's hands are the talons of some ferocious bird of prey, and some indiscernible aura of wrongness soaks the air around him. He speaks with a phlegmy, strangely deep voice: "Excuse me, hello?" He searches around the room, ignoring anyone in it currently as he peers under potplants, tries to lift people's feet to look at the spot they were standing on, and in general seems to have lost something. He eventually finds a small slip of paper and a name badge in his pocket, to his obvious relief. The badge reads in Common, Old Suel, Celestial and Dark Speech: 'I'm Shaitan, Nice to meet you! And The Black Below says Hi! too.' He unfolds the slip of paper, and takes off his goggles to read it, exposing his silver-orb eyes to the room. "Is there a student admissions or tutor enlisting person around here?" |
| SeptimusMagistos05-21-07, 05:45 PM | "Yes. Lead the way!" Meanwhile, a many-leged creature arrives to answer the door. "Greetings, friend." |
| Dex05-22-07, 01:13 AM | Shaitan looks down at the paper again, and carefully reads it. Satisfied that he's remembered the whole thing (there are only two words on it), he looks back to the polypoidal greeter. "Greetings to you, fellow dishuman. I was sent here to learn magic. It's not that I can't do magic, it's just the Black Below says that I don't know how. Like how a fly does what it does, that is, the fly flies, but it never knows what it does, or rather the fly never really knows that what it does when it flies is flying." He stares vacantly into the multiarmed creature's head for a while, amused by watching electrons spin and gyrate, then the gradual settling of dust on the wall directly behind the creature, until he snaps back to reality and puts his goggles back on. "Sorry. You have a most intriging mind - and wall. Is there some fee for becoming a student here? If what I have is insufficient, I can offer the service of teaching languages to other students. I know quite a few, or I could work as an assistant in the library." He stares are the creature for a moment longer. "Have we met? A family reunion, perhaps?" |
| SeptimusMagistos05-22-07, 05:22 PM | "I do not believe so. Sorry. No, there is no fee. If you are here, you are an essential part of this school. Otherwise you wouldn't be here. Just select your classes and get your books checked out at the library, and that's it." |
| Dex05-23-07, 05:46 AM | "Ah, thanks and many spawn to you. Don't bother showing me the way - I doubt I can go anywhere my presence is unwelcome." Shaitan leaves the room, absentmindedly passing through furnishings and, where the magic of the place permits, even walls. In his wandering he comes across Paraclesius's lecture on Offensive Magical Philosophy, and he takes a seat. Lifting his goggles, he begins reading the textbook through the body of the student in front of him, quickly catching up to where the rest of the class is reading from. Several of the students near him fidget uncomfortably at the sight of his talons and his weirdness. He can't think why - a lot of them are much stranger. |
| Larz_Fang05-23-07, 08:30 AM | "Follow me to my tower, quickly!" The ghost of Thelron hovers away towards the tunnel that leads to the sage's wing of the school. Once there, he flies up towards the very top of his tower while others climb up the stairs. The top room looks like some kind of an observatory with complex machinery, a few small metallic constructs that are cleaning up the place and doing other chores. At the eastern side of the room lies a few cages with some magical creatures and on the southern wall right next to the doorway are a couple of bookshelves. In the northwestern corner is stationed a great machine with Thelron's body in it, and the ghostly form of the old sage hovers right in front of it. |
| SeptimusMagistos05-23-07, 05:23 PM | "How can we help?" |
| Larz_Fang05-24-07, 05:17 AM | The ghostly Thelron turns around towards the others. "Ah, yes. Come over here to this piece of machinery." As the others come to the machine, Thelron shifts halfway to the inside of the machine, but leaves the upper part of his ethereal body outside to instruct the others. "Okay, so first, push the green button down there... O-kay, the machine is now running, good good. Now, turn that little wheel until it's red arrow reaches the picture of sun... Excellent! Now, push those three buttons in the following order: green, green, purple, orange, purple, green, purple. Good! Now, for the last thing, pull that chain once I say 'Go', but ready your spells and other weaponry in case this goes wrong, we cannot afford letting Xarius get the control of my body. Okay, I'm going in now." Then, the sage's ghost slips finally inside the machine completely, and after about seven seconds, you hear "GO!" emanating from the machine. |
| dragor_shadowfury05-24-07, 05:27 AM | While Thelron was in the machine, Munchlord wrote serveral runes in the air around him. |
| SeptimusMagistos05-24-07, 05:45 PM | Septimus pointed his staff at the machine, fully intendind to reduce everything in its viscinity to null if something bad should happen. |
| Larz_Fang05-25-07, 05:24 AM | Grugol raises his right hand with it's palm open, and when a glowing red orb appears little above it, the golem pulls the chain. When the chain is pulled, a brightly yellow light glows from the tank where Thelron's body is inside the machine. The complex device whirrs and clanks and some gears on the machine's sides spin around until the machine stops glowing and the liquid inside is drained away. Then, all parts of the machine stop and the glass-like tank splits open, releasing the sage's wet, robe-covered body. The sage opens his eyes and steps out of the tank. "Uuh... am I... alive?" |
| dragor_shadowfury05-25-07, 07:06 AM | "you appear to be, and if that is not enough, I could put up a few divinations to make sure" Munchlord grasp the runes around him and put them into a small linen bag. "now that the crisis seems to be avoided, maybe we should go take a look at that device you were having problems with" He turn around towards the door. "By the way, if you need a teacher in the arts of magical crafting and rune magic, I'd be happy to take that place" |
| SeptimusMagistos05-25-07, 05:48 PM | Septimus does not yet relax. "Yeah, yeah, sure. That's great." |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-25-07, 10:10 PM | "Master?" Derek interjects, before the student begins, "Are we dealing with the mental aspect, the pseudomagical aspect, or the metaphysical aspect, of these theories? I mean, are we discussing the mental preparations for the casting, the spell-spell interactions, or the measurable (though not necessarily physical) results?" "Ah yes, good question Derek. We will eventually cover all three of these aspects and perhaps more. First of all though we will be covering the ideas behind the casting of offensive spells." Paraclesius nods to his apprentice and waits for his response before allowing his troublemaker to read aloud. |
| EpicEvokerElf05-25-07, 10:21 PM | "Thank you for clarifying, master. Oh, and there is a new student here." He gestures at Shaitan, sitting in the back of the room. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-26-07, 11:10 AM | The wolf devil nods to the gestured student, "Ah so we do, pleased to meet you Shaitan. Where do you hail from?" |
| SeptimusMagistos05-26-07, 12:59 PM | Septimus keeps his staff pointed to the newly risen man. "How do I know you are who you say you are?" |
| Dex05-27-07, 07:07 AM | The wolf devil nods to the gestured student, "Ah so we do, pleased to meet you Shaitan. Where do you hail from? Shaitan looks up from his reading, "I hail from Below and Beyond. Khyber, among...other places. I do not always remember them. I think I am fortunate not to. Actually I have a question about offensive spellcasting theory." He slides his dark goggles back on and takes one of his neighbor's textbooks, pointing out a line. "It says here that offensive spells should have a negative psychological as well as physical effect on an enemy, and that they are often based on the emotional state of the caster. Wouldn't it be more efficient to use whatever negative emotions exist within the target to cause harm, rather than rely on the caster to provide the harmful impulse?" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata05-27-07, 09:56 AM | Paraclesius walks slowly to an extra book and takes it to Shaitan while he answers the student's question, "Khyber? hmm I've heard of it somewhere. To answer your question, It really is no more efficient when you get right down to it. There are spells that do such things if you'd like to take that path. These are usually spells of good that will make the 'sinner see his sins'. Although there are evil versions that will turn even the slightest negetive thought against oneself. Magic is a tricky and mysterious thing, often defying logic. To use your example, it would seem that to create an emotion in someone would take more energy than to delve into and enhance an already underlying emotion but this is oftentimes not the case. In fact sometimes the latter will take more magical energy to cast." |
| Larz_Fang05-28-07, 06:13 AM | "Well... I guess you don't!" Thelron jumps up with his hands raised, and except for Grugol, everyone else is trown back about 10 feet away from him. "Your precious Thelron was too late to stop me, and I managed to catch him off-guard when he arrived... wait a minute... you actually resisted my move, golem?" "Grugol be like stone wall, not that easy to knock down. You not be the nice old man you look like!" "Indeed I am not, construct. This is more like me!" An there, Thelron's body changes as it spontaneously combusts into terrible flames that burn away the robes of the old sage. When the flames die down, they reveal what appears to be a sinister, twisted human creature about the sage's height but otherwise with only a few of Thelron's features. He has dark brown hair (but no beard), red eyes and pale, almost albino-white skin. The man is wearing a green-black uniform (with a large golden badge with the letter-combination: SDG) a red-black cloak and red-green boots. "Aaah! Me stop you, Xa-... something!" And Grugol launches his red energy orb towards Xarius with his right hand, and even forms another, green-colored energy orb and throws that, too towards the sorcerer. The red one simply dissipates in Xarius' vicinity and for the green one he raises his hand and the orb is reflected back towards Grugol, who in turn is knocked down by his own magic. "Now that that thing is out of the way, this is what I think of your school, Magistos! This is what I call a Meteor Storm!" And he speaks with words of power, releasing about thirty large meteors from the sky towards the school, and one of them rips right through Thelron's tower's magical defences and hits it in the middle way. The tower begins to fall as it is separated from it's basis. "So long, suckers and farewell! Hahahahaha-HA!!!" And by merely pointing his finger, Xarius opens a portal and disappears through it. The portal (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=12524765#post12524765) slowly begins to close... |
| dragor_shadowfury05-28-07, 02:51 PM | As Munchlord is thrown back he reopen his bag, and pulls out the runes, just in time to stop the fall of the upper tower and block the other meteors flying at the school. He then inscribe yet another rune, this one glowing green. After floating in the air for a short time it flares up in a bright falsh and disappear, but it unleash a wave of energy that repair the damage caused to the school. "Dammit, I let my guard too early dammit." Munchlord seems to be speaking to himself mostly. "well lets get going, we need to prevent him from destroying this place completely." Munchlord continiue, this time clearly to Septimus and Grugol. "and I need to avenge this humiliation" He continiues in thought. Then he inscribe an ice blue rune in the air around the place where the portal were earlier. It surge out some energy and bring Munchlord to the place where Xarius went, bringing Grugol and Septimus along unless they resist. |
| Larz_Fang05-29-07, 04:01 AM | Grugol seems immobile and unconcious. His massive fivehundred-pound mass is too great to be taken with, so the golem has to be left lying in the ground when the rest of the mage crew goes through the portal. |
| EpicEvokerElf06-01-07, 05:14 PM | "However," Derek comments, "Holy spells often require a certain level of devotion not commonly found in spellcasters of the arcane discipline. To bring out another's sins takes absolute purity. Lacking this, the spell will affect you and the intended recipient equally, as you are serving as a channel for holy power. "In the arcane, offensive terminology, the spell simply requires a great deal of willpower and concentration, not necessarily a negative value like greed, gluttony, et cetera. The negative psychological aspect on the target(s) derives from fear of the power unleashed and other often reactive emotions. So, Adversary, to enter your adversary's mind and empower an underlying emotional current would usually defeat the purpose of offensive spellcraft by replacing the primary effect with a paltry side effect. "There are exceptions to this, usually found in necromancy, enchantment, and illusion. "Necromantic fear spells can enhance the target's fear of the caster, which could involve your suggested technique. "Enchantment often revolves around manipulating emotions, whether positive or negative. A mage could make him or herself appear friendly by altering the opponent's perception or by appealing subconsciously to the enemy's preconceptions. "An illusionist uses this to make his or her images conform to the target's expectations and/or alter (or inspire) the emotions triggered by the illusion. "So, your technique is not unknown; it simply plays a smaller part in our magical discipline." At the end of what could be construed as a speech, Derek flushes slightly and turns to his master for confirmation. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata06-02-07, 07:19 AM | Paraclesius smiles widely and nods his confirmation. The class is wide eyed with awe at the formerly quiet apprentice's long spiel. The professor nods again to Derek, "Yes yes quite true, good job Derek. A great addition to my explanation." The wolf-devil then turns to the class, "Do we have any more questions before we begin. I actually rather like these random questions more than reading out the book and such, and I'm sure you all do too." |
| Dex06-03-07, 08:01 PM | Shaitan raises his claw again: "Begin what, if I may ask yet another random question?" |
| Sorcen_Anenooata06-04-07, 08:41 PM | "Ah yes, well I suppose we can let young mister Jimi off the hook this time, next time though pay attention or I'll conjure a paddle." The student identified as Jimi feigns a scared look at the professor's threats. As soon as Paaclesius turns his back though, the student contorts his face into a humurous position and and sticks his tongue out at the teacher's back. Paraclesius's smile and eyes seem to tell that he is aware of Jimi's antics, but he makes no move to do anything about it despite his knowledge. "Moving on, because we got sidetracked, which is not a problem at all, we have to be moving on to the main part of our lesson for today. Shaitan, what offensive spells do you know?" |
| Dex06-05-07, 08:47 AM | "I don't know spells. Spells don't know me. I had a spellbook once, but it ran away. I got someone's familiar, but it died. Sometimes I need magic and it comes if the Black Below wants it. I've a little power, but I'm told that's different. I can always try, though. That's why I'm here." OOC: He has a number of spell-like abilities, but no actual spellcaster levels. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata06-05-07, 12:10 PM | Paraclesius nods his understanding, "I see, Well then we shall teach you some spells soon then. Derek, could you cast a splash of acid at the students?" The students shift in their seats and mutter to themselves and some of them even begin to move out of the way. |
| EpicEvokerElf06-05-07, 05:00 PM | "What, you mean all of them?" Without waiting for a reply, he cries, "Zuur spritzen!" and thrusts his hand outward, fingers contorted into a circular pattern. An orb of viscous green fluid, illuminated from the inside by an ephemeral glow, flies from his hand. Then, as if striking an invisible sieve, it smoothly flows out into two dozen identical droplets. Regaining their momentum, they continue to fly, stopping only about a foot from the students' faces. |
| Dex06-05-07, 09:56 PM | Shaitan vanishes in response to the attack, but reappears a moment later when he realises the acid isn't going to hit him. |
| dragor_shadowfury06-06-07, 04:41 AM | Someone knocks the door. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata06-06-07, 09:04 AM | The wolf-devil grins, "Ah good apprentice. Perfect actually, now each student has their own piece to study now." Paraclesius waves his hand and the acid lowers to eye level for each student. He waves another hand and two boxes of glaves begin to levitate and fly around the room. "Everyone get a pair of gloves, these will keep you from being burned when we dissect this acid." The students begin taking gloves and slipping them on, a few students have claws but the gloves dont seem to be harmed by the sharp claws. One student, a half-dragon, claims he is immune to acid and reaches out carefully and pokes it, and realizes that he is indeed immune. Notiving Shaitan disappearing and reappearing, Paraclesius smiles and calls over to him, "Ah was that one of your powers Shaitan?" It is now that he notices the knocking on the door and slips over to open it while waiting for Shaitan's answer. He opens the door and peers out, "Yes?" |
| dragor_shadowfury06-06-07, 10:08 AM | Outside the door a blackrobed person stands. His left hand, still raised from knocking, is extremely pale. His other hand is hidden in the sleeve of his robe. His neck is normal, exept for an extreme paleness, but his head is the skull of a draconic creature, with diamonds for teeth. "Greetings, I am Artak. I wished to join your teaching, and hopefully assist as well. I am aware that I'm late, and i apologize." |
| Dex06-07-07, 12:58 AM | Notiving Shaitan disappearing and reappearing, Paraclesius smiles and calls over to him, "Ah was that one of your powers Shaitan?" "Quite so." Shaitan replies, "I tend to be keeping me out of harm's way, rather than in it, even if it means my opponent is unscathed for the moment." |
| EpicEvokerElf06-07-07, 10:15 PM | "Ah, but leaving your opponent unguarded can be a dangerous move." So saying, Derek fires another orb of acid at Shaitan while muttering an incantation under his breath. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata06-08-07, 11:46 AM | Paraclesius smiles at the new student, "Alright, welcome to Offensive Magical Philosophy. Try not to be late next time." He winks and motions for the student to come in and find a seat. The professor smiles widely at the sight of Derek attacking Shaitan. "As much as I like to see such enthusiasm to learn, we are not at the dueling level of our class just yet. Good point though Derek, but that is why Shaitan is here, so that we may teach him of magic and how to best hone his natural abilities as well. So on that note, I will let this duel go for now, if anything it will give the rest of the class a taste of what is ahead." |
| dragor_shadowfury06-08-07, 12:47 PM | "I thank you much." Artak walks to sit down in a chair near Shaitan. |
| Dex06-08-07, 11:35 PM | Shaitan fades again in response to the second attack, and reappears behind Derek, pulling off his hat and stretching it to more than five feet in diameter. As quick as he can, he tries to capture Derek inside it. |
| EpicEvokerElf06-09-07, 12:25 PM | When Shaitan tries to fade, he feels an inexplicable pressure crushing him in place. He has a sensation of intense claustrophobia before it fades with the force, leaving him still in his seat. The orb of acid is still hovering in space, now about an inch from Shaitan's eyes. "Never repeat your tricks. You'll become predictable," Derek says smiling slightly. He twitches his hand, and the orb jerks back and splatters harmlessly to the floor, dissapating in a cloud of mist. "Now, how do you do that?" |
| Dex06-10-07, 02:29 AM | Shaitan is not a little surprised at not being able to fade from the attack and dimension door behind Derek. For a moment Dark Speech hisses on the end of his tongue, but he knows that he's been suitably chastised. "A magicians never tells how their tricks work, but since this trick wasn't mine to begin with, I'll say that once you've been some places, some walls never seem as solid again. I doubt I'll ever be able to teach anyone how that works, but on the other hand, I'm here to learn whatever I can before I need to leave again." He looks at the spot where the acid spash has burned into the floor. "I know when I'm outclassed, so you've no need to fear anything permanent from my direction." |
| EpicEvokerElf06-10-07, 02:53 PM | Derek laughs. "Outclassed? Not really; I just learned that one this morning. Even if you could teach me to fade, I doubt I'd be able to manage it more than once in a day. Now," he says, turning back to Paraclesius, "What were we discussing again?" |
| SeptimusMagistos06-15-07, 01:45 PM | A small tornado spouting lightnings enters the room. It circles around for several seconds, then falls apart, leaving only a few smaller tornadoes. A young boy who was previously inside the tornado proceeds to stamp on them. "Sorry. Sorry. I have absolutely no idea how that happened. Uh, is this Offensive Magical Philosophy? I get kinda lost when I'm trapped inside tornadoes." |
| Dex06-15-07, 11:20 PM | Shaitan says to the newcomer, "Me too. Do yours have teeth and prolonged digestive tracts? The ones I'm sent through do. And about Offensive Magical Philisophy - yes, we have lots of that here." |
| Sorcen_Anenooata06-16-07, 12:09 AM | Paraclesius is about to answer Derek when he notices the new student, "Yes as Shaitan said this is Offensive Magical Philosophy. I am the professor, Paraclesius. Who might you be lad?" |
| Larz_Fang06-16-07, 10:07 AM | At Thelron's tower, Grugol the Flesh Golem finally wakes up. He sits up and instantly has a look of horror on his face. "No, they fight him wrong! Grugol... me must help!!!" Then the golem stands up, digs up some reflective sand-like powder from his pocket and throws it on himself. In two seconds, there is a sudden flash of light and then Grugol is gone. |
| SeptimusMagistos06-17-07, 01:19 PM | The boy responds as he stomps the last of the mini-tornadoes into nothingness. "My name is Nickolobold Brightstar, but most people just call me Nick. I'm here because I'm supposed to begin study at this school to either prevent or perpetuate a paradox-definitely one or the other. The tornado thing-No, they aren't usually alive. But it still happens to me a lot. It's not chaos magic if that's what you're thinking-I have friends who are chaos mages, but my magic is mostly normal. It's just that I'm still kinda new at it, so a lot of things go wrong." |
| EpicEvokerElf06-18-07, 10:48 PM | "I'm Derek Schmidtke, Paraclesuis' new apprentice. I hope you prevent the paradox, as they can get fairly nasty. And if you both prevent and perpetuate it, then you've got another paradox on your hands. I'm glad you aren't a Chaos Mage, as they can get quite nasty. Though, about mistakes with spells, you're not alone. My first week, I even botched the cantrips!" Derek flushes redder than before, as this time his soliloquy was not even philosophical in nature this time. He ducks his head and shufffles back into Paraclesius' shadow. |
| LostMage06-18-07, 10:55 PM | A slender young man in a black wool jacket enters the classroom behind Derek, and addresses Paraclesius: "Pardon me, are you the professor here? My name is Sash Sirsay. I've been trying to find a Mr. Magistos, I've been invited to teach Basic and Advanced Transmutation...but I can't seem to find the headmaster, and after I got lost in the carpet on the first floor the second time, I thought I'd ask for directions." He smiles, almost chuckling at his own misadventure. |
| SeptimusMagistos06-19-07, 11:39 AM | "Ah, Master Septimus is busy right now, I think. He can usually be in several places at once, except when he needs as much of his magic as he can get. Then he needs to focus on a single part of himself, letting the 'clones' fade away. I think I have something that can help, though." Nick pulls out a silver disk. It lights up and projects the image of Septimus. "May I help you?" |
| LostMage06-19-07, 09:52 PM | "Well, first, where do you get these disks?" Sash asks the tiny image with a grin, "And second, where's my classroom? The letter I got didn't say. 'Sides, thought I ought to check in with the headmaster before dispensing Erren's Words of Metamorphosing to random students." I thought I ought to have Sash secure his position at the school in character before posting lectures. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata06-20-07, 12:05 PM | "Paradoxes, again, seems to be a theme for today. A good topic though. Alas, you are welcome to join me for my lectures Nick, and thank you for helping Mr. Sirsay." Paraclesius says to Derek and Nick before turning to Sash, "Master Septimus would be the one to speak with yes. Good luck on your teaching and I'm sure we'll meet more properly later on in the teacher's lounge." |
| Dex06-20-07, 07:30 PM | Shaitan is examining the acid that Derek conjured in the first casting. He is rather amused by it: when he takes his goggles off it seems to be an opalescent globule, with thin blue field lines running through it. "Master Paraclesius, I'm seeing these strange blue field auras in mine. Is this the binding force that stops it dissipating?" |
| LostMage06-20-07, 07:38 PM | "Yes, I look forward to speaking to you again, Professor Parclesius." Sash is about to leave the classroom, when he hears Shitain's question. "See for yourself," he says, striding over to the bead of acid "Try removing the knot right in the center, a simple cantrip should - ah. My appoligies, Master Parclesius, professional interest got the better of me!" he says with a slightly apologetic smile. |
| SeptimusMagistos06-23-07, 05:10 PM | "Uh, Master Septimus gave me the disk. He gives me stuff like this. It's supposed to take care of things when he's not around." The disk then answered the question by creating a larger image. This one was a map of the school, with the proper classroom highlighted. |
| LostMage06-26-07, 10:35 PM | "Thank you, I'll begin my class posthaste." Sash promptly vanishes to reappear in his classroom, a circular room with neat, dark wood cabinets filled with books, scrolls and plenty of practice materials. As soon as the stools around the class are filled, he begins to teach... "Now, for this evening, I'll begin Basic Transmutation. My name is Professor Sirsay, and as I'm sure you've ascertained, I am teaching this course." A young man, with a slightly crazed look in his eyes raises his hand: "Will this be a practical lesson?" "No, not the first one. It's just a basic course, mind you. But there will be practical lessons later in the year. Now, as I was saying, the art of Transmutation is one of the most complicated schools of magic you will ever study. There are few, if any, branches of magic that require the understanding of so many variables and forces to perform successfully. Yes?" Sash says to a young woman. "I thought modern spellcraft eliminated the guesswork from transmuting, professor." "Yes, very good. Even the most lowly cantrip of this school has been carefully perfected and written so as to eliminate the need for the transmuter to pay anymore than minimal attention to complications such as Elementary Bases, Reactant Series or Product Circle. However, we will be learning that all the same; knowing how to work the spells you will need for a successful career as a transmuter is important, yes. But to be a true master, you must understand the classics. I have no interest in the modern method of teaching transmutation, it skips - ah. Wake up, over there. Perhaps we'll go right to the first cantrip. It was a simple indicator, and the instructions are on the board. Your samples," Sash waves his hand, and underneath the student's seats, all a manner of objects appear, from yarn to marbles, "Are under your chair. Begin, please, and record your results in your notebooks. Now, this cantrip is doubly useful, for if you'll look to the second verse, you can see that it will identify both..." |

| Sorcen_Anenooata07-04-07, 09:49 AM | Paraclesius smiles at Sash's answering, "No problem friend, I'd ask you to continue but you seem to be in need of leaving soon and I do wish to delay you further, luck in you teaching." As Sash is disappearing he turns to answer Shaitan, "Yes my pupil, those blue lines are the manifestation of the fields of energy that serve as binding forces to the acid. I'm actually surprised you can see them so easily, not many can see such detail with an untrained eye." |
| SeptimusMagistos07-05-07, 11:52 AM | Septimus flies into the school at breakneck speed. |
| Larz_Fang07-06-07, 04:26 AM | And shortly after Septimus arriwes, Grugol runs inside about as fast as the magician. However, he trips at the last step of the stairs and falls to the ground. The golem rises up as quickly as he fell and runs towards the bottom floor where the mysterious machine was placed. "Come, Septimus! We use the machine's power and stop The Void! " |
| SeptimusMagistos07-06-07, 12:16 PM | "Right! The Void is a bad thing. Here, I'll use my Headmaster's key." Septimus pulls out a weird golden device with a gem sticking out of it and presses the gem down. They are instantly transported to the machine. |
| EpicEvokerElf07-10-07, 11:45 AM | "But do you see the lines connecting the orbs to each other? How about to me? These are the lines you have to sever to dispel or counter a spell like this." Derek rummages in his pockets for a moment before pulling out a tiny bell on a silver wire. He raises his hands, holding the wire taut, and speaks three words. "Bezirk, avverte, stretta." Similar lines extend from the bell to form a shimmering cage around each student. Though only Shai'tan can see them, he asks, "How would you go about identifying and dispelling that?" The rest can see them with an Arcane Sight spell.__________________________________ ______ |

| Dex07-18-07, 05:02 AM | "But do you see the lines connecting the orbs to each other? How about to me? These are the lines you have to sever to dispel or counter a spell like this." Derek rummages in his pockets for a moment before pulling out a tiny bell on a silver wire. He raises his hands, holding the wire taut, and speaks three words. "Bezirk, avverte, stretta." Similar lines extend from the bell to form a shimmering cage around each student. Though only Shai'tan can see them, he asks, "How would you go about identifying and dispelling that?" Shaitan pauses for a moment, and the quicksilver surface of his eyes seems to ripple before he replies. "Ah, yes, I see the connecting lines now. Wrong frequency, like usual. My Master was training me to see less specifically before, but I think it has given up for the moment." He taps a clawed finger on his chin. "With regards to your imprisoning weave, I would hazard a guess that it is a sonic evocation, wherefore I would use a scroll of Silence if I had one in my possession. Of course, I haven't seen many spells this powerful before, so I might be wrong. I might also try destroying your focus, that bell or cutting the silver wire. Then again, if this was a wild magic zone..." He trails off into his thoughts, and his eyes snag on Esmalda, her outfit, and the concealed horns. He wrinkles his nose for a second. "Do I know you?" |
| dragor_shadowfury07-19-07, 08:56 AM | Artak turns to face Esmalda. "What happen to be the problem?" |
| technomagi07-19-07, 08:46 PM | Esmalda smiles. Think of it as a little magical mystery I need solved. Are you interested in a challenge? She hops down off the desk walking towards them a sensual sway to her stride. |
| dragor_shadowfury07-20-07, 02:35 PM | "If I am interested depends on the nature of the challange and the eventual reward if I succeed. My speciality is necromancy" |
| SeptimusMagistos07-21-07, 10:59 AM | "I don't know if that's such a good idea. Girls are crazy." Nick complained. |
| technomagi07-21-07, 09:36 PM | She looks thoughtful This is more of a portal problem or maybe a problem with doors. The feathers of her wings brush suggestively at her thighs. Who would know the most about the subject? |
| dragor_shadowfury07-22-07, 07:26 AM | "There I may be able to help as well. I have played with some of those. But if the problem involve evocations I cannot help." |
| technomagi07-22-07, 07:55 PM | the problem arises when the portals are used in combat. At the moment it is possible to block or redirect the energies. I'm trying to figure out how to prevent that. She looks stretches backwards slighltly displaying her profile to shaitan and showing of her assets in the process. |
| dragor_shadowfury07-23-07, 10:42 AM | Munchlord seems to be searching his memory and thinking for some time. "I may be able to help... I invented a process were prevent interruptions when I summoned undead from my fortress. It may work... But maybe we should seek the assisstance one of the other soulforgeans... his name is Munchlord" |
| technomagi07-23-07, 07:02 PM | Esmalda cocks her head to one side as if listening and her face draws up with concern. I apologize for cutting this conversation short but Saran's forge is under attack by some creature from the Abyss and I must go help. I will return and continue if I can. Thank you so much for your help. She blows munchlord a kiss. She waves her hand and a portal opens she then steps through. |
| kalestarveteran07-23-07, 09:10 PM | Darius walks in to the school of magic.Hello I was wondering since youre the resident school of magic I would like to know if you could help me find a chaos mage named Ecenda.I understand that shes gone on a quest to arborea and I was hoping that you could help me find a portal to that place. If you can't then is there anyone at this school who could teach me wild magic. |
| Lord_Bahamut07-23-07, 09:57 PM | The wind sighs inside the School of Magic, and with a ruffle of feathers and a soft breeze Giovanni fades into view. "Hello. I heard there was a school of magic here, so I decided to come and see what it was about. I am Giovanni." |
| EpicEvokerElf07-28-07, 06:04 PM | "Your conclusion is commendable, but not quite right. The warding is a simple alarm spell, and thus cutting the lines would trigger it. A silence spell would do the trick, assuming I had set the alarm to be audible (which it is). "As to the spell's power, you are absolutely correct. I have layered the alarm with multiple wardings, making it much harder to dispel. That would be done by forcing the spell through a gap in the lines, and thereby open a doorway. "Indeed, destroying my foci would end the effect, but the point would be neglegible unless you could weave the spell through my wardings. Even then, I suspect I would notice if you, say, shattered the bell in my hands," he finishes with a wry grin. |
| SeptimusMagistos07-29-07, 12:54 PM | Ms. Strict entered the lobby. "Welcome. This school is 'about' teaching those in need of teaching to control and use their magic. I should think that would be obvious. We may also be able to help you locate said mage. Please proceed to our divination laboratory." |
| Dex07-30-07, 03:21 AM | Shaitan smacks himself on his forehead, and puts his dark goggles back on. "Of course, an Alarm. I rarely see the more...subtle side of magic. Usually spells directed at me have a somewhat more, ah, direct and obvious effect. At which point I rift over and open up some veins," he says, grinning and resting a hand on his shortsword. To Paraclesius he says, "What other material are we covering today, teacher?" |
| technomagi07-30-07, 09:49 PM | A portal opens and Esmalda steps through. She looks around for Munch Lord. |
| kalestarveteran07-30-07, 10:10 PM | Darius xan proceeds to the divination chamber while telling the teacher that he dosn't need teaching just help remembering.I am a archmage after all. OOC:That wouldn't be the same mage I'm looking for would it technomagi? |
| technomagi07-31-07, 09:07 PM | ooc: Munchlord is played by dragor shadowfury. I'm not sure if it is who you seek but this is probably a good place to hunt for a teacher. |
| SeptimusMagistos08-01-07, 01:23 PM | "Oh, no, I'm gonna be late!" Nick runs out of the classroom. |
| technomagi08-04-07, 06:09 PM | She spots an apprentice that isn't hurrying off. Do you know if Munchlord is still here? |
| dragor_shadowfury08-05-07, 01:00 PM | The apprentice replies "no, I dont think Munchlord is here. Last time I saw him he was with master Septimus, going to the tower where Xarius was imprisoned. I have heard that he has been seen heading towards the observatory with a chunk of rock just 20 minutes ago though." |
| technomagi08-06-07, 06:10 PM | thank you says Esmalda and she vanishes sparkly dust falling gently to the ground the she just occupied. |
| dragor_shadowfury08-07-07, 01:43 AM | The apprentice stands still for some time, seeing Esmalda in his mind. Suddenly he seems to wake up and hurries the way he was going before while thinking "Dammit, late in divination again!" |
| technomagi08-11-07, 03:27 PM | There is a puff of pink small portal opens. Sparkly pink glitter floats slowly down around it. Esmalda steps through the portal holding a young child's hand in one grasp and an ice cream cone in the other. The child also has an ice cream cone in her other hand. She looks around finding someone to ask for directions. Hello, sweetie. Could you be so kind as to direct me to new admissions. I want to enrole my niece here. |
| pbs08-11-07, 04:13 PM | I'm gona do some magic! |
| Xanaphina09-02-07, 06:25 PM | A strikingly handsome young man enters the school, he is dressed with an undershirt and a loose, open leather jacket over it, the man also wears black pants and has an off-kilter bandanna on his head tipped so it covers one eye. A rapier hangs loosely at his waist, "hello, I am looking for someone who can teach me how to enchant items, I am a blacksmith on a ship that harbors in these parts and there is a strong demand among the crew for magic weapons, so high that I figured it would be easier to learn enchantments rather than send them to some spell caster every time I get an order. Would there be anyone here willing to teach me?" he asks hopefully "I am sorry if I am intruding upon this, I can leave." |
| SeptimusMagistos09-05-07, 08:40 PM | A man walks out to greet the newest student. His long white hair suggests old age, yet his face and his walk speak of a young man. "Ah. Welcome. Now, am I to understand you are interested in enchanting weapons and nothing else?" |
| Xanaphina09-05-07, 08:47 PM | "Well, that is what I wish to focus on, but a few minor offensive and defensive spells wouldn't hurt," the young man replies. |
| SeptimusMagistos09-06-07, 05:34 PM | "Hm. All right then. I believe it would be best if you learned these two separately. Enchanting weapons is, for the most part, harmless, so you can do it without understanding the theory behind it. Unless, of course, you wish to create particularly powerful weapons or sentient ones. But I fear such a course would take more time than an entrepreneur like you is likely to have. So I'd like to offer to teach you a simple technique for sort of bottling spells and placing them into weapons." |
| Xanaphina09-06-07, 06:09 PM | "I believe that would do perfectly," The man nods. "And you are correct, i do not have that much time." |
| SeptimusMagistos09-07-07, 05:08 PM | "Yes, well, nobody does nowadays. Used to be the day was thirty six hours long and everyone had plenty of time to spare, but what are you going to do?" the man shrugs. "All right, come along then. I think it would be best if we had our first session right now. Let's see if we can't find an empty classroom." |
| Xanaphina09-07-07, 05:41 PM | The new student nods and follows the man to a classroom |
| Dex09-11-07, 06:10 AM | Assuming that the lessons for the day have finished, Shaitan leaves the classroom and wanders the corridors for some time. He examines pot plants, chases motes of dust throughout the halls and eventually finds a black cat resting on a bench in one of the gardens. When he sees it, he draws his shortsword, and sets towards it with a murderous glint in his aberrant eyes. "Hello you cute little kitty, you!" Startled, the cat leaps off the bench and races straight through a solid wall. Unperturbed, Shaitan chases it, fading though the barrier as though it were evening mist. Gradually, he and the cat begin to vanish wholly from the school of magic and its surrounds, finally disappearing from sight and sense completely. OOC: Shaitan has left the building. |
| SeptimusMagistos09-11-07, 05:46 PM | Student and teacher locate an empty classroom. "Oh, by the way? Call me Heo." "Right. Now, for the first step, I'll teach you how to make your weapons sharper and more manageable. It's not as glamorous as making them flame up or make light, but it's just as good and people demand it more. Now, here is the secret to this kind of enchantment." Heo holds up an egg-shaped object. "This is kind of a bottled spell. Now, this is a special version that can be used for temporary enchantment. If you learn how to use properly, we can move on to permanent enchantment and even manufacture of such spells." Heo pulls a masterwork sword out of a Bag of Holding on his belt. "Here try putting that spell into this sword." |
| EpicEvokerElf09-11-07, 08:45 PM | "If the class is over," Derek mutters, "May I go to the Library? I have something I must research." Hardly waiting for an answer he ambles out of the room, his hands pulling one of his paperbacks out of his voluminous pockets. |
| Xanaphina09-17-07, 09:27 PM | Student and teacher locate an empty classroom. "Here try putting that spell into this sword." So do I just lay the egg on the sword or is there some power word or something? Sorry, but I honestly don't know anything about enchantments. The man laughs at his own inability and examines the bottled spell. |
| SeptimusMagistos09-17-07, 11:42 PM | "You try to put the egg into the sword, yes. But how you do it is different for everyone, so you must figure your method out on your own. It would not do for me to prejudice you." |
| Xanaphina09-18-07, 10:03 AM | "okay then," The man takes the egg and mutters something in some foriegn language. He then tries touching the spell to the pommel of the sword, that doesn't work so he tries doing the same to the tip of the sword, and fails again. After a few more tries he sighs and attemps to slide the egg down the blade of the sword, slowly as he slides the egg, it slowly starts to fade, by the time it has reached the tip the egg has vanished. "I guess that worked, cool!"The man grins and turns to look at Heo "By the way, my names Garet." |
| SeptimusMagistos09-18-07, 05:19 PM | "Excellent. You have indeed mastered this very fast. Keep in mind, however, that you are working under perfect circumstances. You have a weapon used to receiving spell, a simple temporary spell that's designed for easy usage, and someone to oversee you in case anything goes wrong. I'm not saying this to undermine your achievement, but to warn you that you have only taken the first step on a road of moderate length. I'm not saying 'long road' because it's not nearly as long as it would take you to achieve enough as a regular spellcaster to learn to enchant weapons properly." |
| gordonml09-21-07, 08:52 PM | A flickering cat with bat wings flys into one hallway in the school, carrying a small model towerAnyone here? Shadewing calls out, I may have something new to teach about. But really I'm just teaching use of it. |
| SeptimusMagistos09-22-07, 04:09 PM | The cat's query meets with silence. It's late in the day and most of the students have found it expedient to sneak out to watch the activity in the arena, along with some of the teachers. |
| EpicEvokerElf09-22-07, 04:14 PM | Derek slips back into school, still reading from a colossal tome which hovers in midair before him. He stumbles down the hall, walking into a pillar in the process, before finding his way into his dorm room. He trips and falls, landing on his bed. The book flops onto his desk, which sags ominously. |
| SeptimusMagistos10-28-07, 01:21 PM | Loud chimes rang across the campus followed by an official announcement. "Attention, faculty, students, and everyone else. Any classes remaining in the day are canceled and so are any other activities. The reason for this is that there is a party outside. Anyone who wishes to engage in said partying will please report to the main courtyard." |
| SeptimusMagistos11-01-07, 05:17 PM | The main courtyard of the school turned into a giant party. A mob of people-mostly students and teachers, but also some of the other arena inhabitants-filed in. Refreshments were served and some music was played. In the middle of it all a group of children one of whom was the cause for the party came in unnoticed. "Not a date." "Date." "Not a date." "Date." "Not a date." "All right, enough already." One of the others responds. She looks like a paladin girl with big decorative dragon wings attached to her pure white plate mail. "How about we just do that weird thing you normally do and agree that Gem is on a date and Nick isn't?" "Fine." "Fine." After that, peace seemed to settle down for a little while while the group got snacks and beverages. However, this could not hold for a long time at a party. Soon enough, Gem had another idea. "You know what? We should play." she said. "I don't know." Nick answered cautiously. "Please?" "Okay." And so it was that a few minutes later Nick and Gem were on stage along with the rest of their band. Nick was holding an odd instrument that looked like a lyre that had very weird things done to it. Gem was holding a harp. In the background, the paladin girl, known as Kate Dragonwing, was sitting down near world's most complex drum set and the twins, known as Ceptim and Ceptima, were grabbing their instruments-a keyboard and a strange-looking flute respectively. As they got into position, waves of energy were emanating from them. This wasn't any magical energy, just pure excitement. The crowd became riled up. Before anyone actually played anything, Nick made a speech. "All right, while I'm glad to be here and I'm hoping you are too, I should warn you that I just got back from a battle and I have an itchy spellfinger. So I'm prepared to deal with anyone who tries to get on the stage. Let me make this absolutely clear. No one rushes the stage. All right, ready?" The band began to play and Nick began to sing in a surprisingly good voice that seemed to get even better and clearer as it went along. "Somewhere in a deep, dark cave, there stands a small locked box. It holds a manuscript from the past, hidden behind its locks. The scroll it hides is scribed in runes not of the mortal realms. It holds a secret that's beyond a spell, a charm, or balms. Hidden knowledge No one knows what it is. Hidden knowledge From a mystic abyss. Hidden knowledge From the skies far above. Hidden knowledge Beyond anger and love. The cave is hidden well enough, and no one has yet found The box that holds the secret, though search was paramount. And still inside the box does lie a secret manuscript The one to find it would be made the scribe of King Acrypt Hidden knowledge It's absolutely true. Hidden knowledge Nobody has a clue. Hidden knowledge The secret is well kept. Hidden knowledge Many wise men wept. The box does hold the secret well and rather well it's hidden Until one day a stranger comes, expected though unbidden He'll find the cave, open the box, and read the secret scroll And then he'll know the joy of rise without the pain of fall. Hidden knowledge Beyond mystery. Hidden knowledge Obscured by history. Hidden knowledge So secret it hurts. Hidden knowledge Too important for words." When the song finished, it was greeted with loud cheering. And then the audience rushed the stage. Nick and his friends managed to get off it just in time. "They never listen, do they. Why do I keep doing this?" he asked, walking back into the crowd after it calmed down. "Because you find it easier to go along with things than argue?" "Right." |
| Sorcen_Anenooata11-01-07, 06:13 PM | Paraclesius hears the announcement as his students speak. "Well students it seems that we have a party to attend." He winks, "Your homework assignment is to get to your dorms and dress down and report to the party within the hour. And dont forget to enjoy yourself, theres bound to be some good entertaintment there. it is Magic School after all." He waves his hand to dismiss the class and the miscellaneous students begin to file from the classroom and spill out into the halls. As soon as the students leave the room, the werewolf devil pulls a wand from his belt and waves it in a circle around his head. As he does this his formerly brown robe erupts in tiny red tipped spikes even as it plunges into darkness and fades to an utter blackness. A silver crown appears on his head, it is a plain metal band and dips into a point that points downward onto his forehead. He smiles as if satisfied and walks from his class room, waving his wand behind him to lock the doors before replacing the wand back into his belt and proceeding to walk outside to the party. OOC: Sorry for my absence from this thread and the questions I left unanswered. This thread is so well done and so intellectual though that it drains my brain too much to keep up with it, after this party I will attempt to get back to it though. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata11-01-07, 07:49 PM | A man walks among the party at the School of Magic. He is of ordinary heighth and even gives an aura of ordinaryness from him, despite being heavily cloaked with a shadow veil and leather armor with none of his skin showing. He dones a dark purple metal mask. The man passes nearly unseen throughout the crowd, he is quiet and reserved and no one thinks to speak to him. Everyone seems to forget him as soon as they see him. OOC: Just Sythidor the half-wraith assassin. This was the best place to introduce him finally. He'll become a bit more relevant later, perhaps. For now though he is just here and aloof. |
| SeptimusMagistos11-02-07, 05:27 PM | "You know what this party needs?" "Let me guess...roller coasters?" "Yes! Roller coasters, and hot-air balloons, and catapults that shoot you from one to the other and back, and a mountain for climbing, and a pool, and a twisty-whirly thing of light and water, and...and...a rainbow!" "Really?" "Yes!" "Eh, why not? It's a party." Nick threw his book open and started conjuring, making the party bigger and louder than ever. |
| munchlord11-07-07, 05:53 AM | A young man, maybe 16 or 17 years old. He's higher than average, but not much. He's wearing a purple robe with the hood drawn back. His hair golden hair is a few inches in length, and it has a certain look to it, not unkempt but wild is some way. He approaches Nick and the other young ones. Nick would recognize him as the boy who pulled Munchlord out of the crater. |
| SeptimusMagistos11-09-07, 04:43 PM | Nick notices the boy. Since in Nick's experience everything has something to do with him, he assumes the young man is here for him too. So he greets him. "Hi." |
| SeptimusMagistos11-09-07, 04:45 PM | Unbeknown to most people at the party, an invisible shield stretches over the school and the main tower prepares some of its heaviest offensive spells in response to a detected threat. Septimus Magistos quietly rushes out of the school. |
| Sorcen_Anenooata11-09-07, 08:28 PM | OOC: I'm only doing this due to Paraclesius being a devil and a teacher at the school. IC: Paraclesius stares off for a moment and stops in his tracks in the middle of the crowd at the party. He snaps back to reality and slowly makes his way back through the crowd to the school, he keeps up appearences and smiles at anyone he passes so as not to disrupt their fun. He makes his way back inside the school and mentally contacts Septimus, I will go to the towers and watch the fight, I do not wish to presume too much but I offer my services to defend the school if the celestial should break through our defenses. With this said the werewolf-devil makes his way to the parapets of the towers and watches the arena via a clairvoyance pool. |
| Khael11-10-07, 06:45 AM | Suddenly a small missile drops out of the sky to land *Psmlat!* against the shield, bounce off and impact with the ground with a rather pathetic little "Paff" sound. As the dust clears the missile can be seen as a viciously dangerously deadly... bundled cloth thing, about the size of a small human. Well... cloth thing that now sits up. OOC: Yup, the invulerable (It's been dropped like a meteorite at least three times now and still sits up, I think it qualifies for the title. Or at least a bulk discount on usage of cartoon physics.) little figure returns. |
| Khael11-11-07, 03:04 PM | With a cloud of dust in their wake three dark forms screech to a halt by the bundle, their master gone in to chase the gathering of celestial pwer elsewhere. It turns its top as if looking plantively at them, as one reaches over two long tendrils from its back to lift and bind the form to its own, the others watching the school, before they turn as one to flee... |
| SeptimusMagistos11-12-07, 12:18 PM | Paraclesius receives an answer. I thank you. Have to go now. |
| EpicEvokerElf11-12-07, 06:41 PM | Fully conscious of the party raging outside, Derek continues reading, absorbed in his book. After about twenty minutes, he begins to feel restless. He gets up and paces for a few minutes, but to no avail. Experimentally, he chants, "Glob-feuer knallkugel echad. A tiny bead of orange radiance drifts from his hand as if through molasses, hovering outside his window for a moment as he chants, "Shtayim, shalosh, arbah." The bead detonates, pulling the surrounding night into itself and illuminating the sky with a burst of effulgence. Through the glare of the spell it is just possible to make out a grand staff inscribed across the sky in orange fire. Derek steps lightly out of the window, descending in perfect fluidity to alight upon the stage. "May I play?" he asks in his minute voice. |
| SeptimusMagistos11-14-07, 05:46 PM | The crowd cheers for Derek. Of course, at this point they would cheer for mayonnaise, but that doesn't make it any less meaningful. |
| EpicEvokerElf11-14-07, 06:44 PM | "I take that as a yes," he says, holding his hands up as though supporting a violin. He spits a single syllable of power. "Bratsche!" There is a warm, mellow humming that emanates from his hands, melting the very air into the fluid form of a viola. He puts the bow to the strings, looks up at his score emblazoned across the heavens, and begins to play. The sound is beyond mortal imagining. It speaks of cosmic sorrow, of the pain a god feels at the loss ofits child's life. It is low, rich, yet it pierces the soul like a knife. He slows to the end of a phrase and allows his bow to cease its motion for a split second before springing into motion across the strings again. Now the tone is merry, like a dance, though one too fast for mortal feet to follow. Suddenly a recognizable tune emerges from the bright notes, that of Vittorio Monti's famous Csárdás. Before he has hardly begun, the song is over. The tones fade into silence, broken only by the soft chords of a piano as he spring into Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 5. This, too, is over all too soon but he continues along a seemingly inexhaustible repertiore, taking requests from the unusually quiet audience. Then, with no warning, Derek's form fades with the last note of a song. The staff in the sky fades to black, and the frantic pace of the party resumes. |
| SeptimusMagistos11-17-07, 12:56 PM | Somewhere within the tower there is a loud grinding noise followed by some hidden doors opening and the sounds of catapults and ballistas going off as stones and sharpened logs fly out and cross through the shield. The doors then close. Everyone looks up in surprise, but then most people go back to partying. At this point it would take something much worse to kill the mood. |
| SeptimusMagistos12-03-07, 05:04 PM | "Something's wrong here." Nick remarks. "Really wrong or just slightly wrong?" "Really wrong, I think." "Oh. Are you going to do anything about it?" "Probably not. This seems like something someone else can handle." "Good." |
| Gideon_Gideonson12-29-07, 08:27 PM | "ATTENTION BAATOR! APPARENTLY WE'RE ABOUT TO SUFFER SOME SORT OF CATACLYSMIC DISASTER. THE NEXUS OF THE WORLDS IS OVERLOADING, AND KAYLEE'S DUMPING SOME EXCESS HERE. EVERYONE MOVE TO THE SAFEST PLACE WITHIN EASY TRAVEL AND FORTIFY IT IN WHATEVER WAY YOU CAN. NOW." Coin's voice dies away, leaving the entire plane of Baator ringing. |
| SeptimusMagistos01-01-08, 12:22 PM | The party stops abruptly. The students and guests flee within the towers and cellars of the school. As the courtyard clears, the party supplies, the stage, and the rides fade away. A translucent globe of interplanar boundaries raises itself and falls over and under the school. |
| SeptimusMagistos02-07-08, 06:39 PM | After some time a little device on Nick's wrist pulses and emits light and sound. "Okay. I think that we successfully prevented the paradox. We can go home now." "Do we have to? I was having fun." "You have fun everywhere. And yes, I'm afraid we do have to leave. Otherwise bad things might happen to the time-space continuum. Well...worse things." Just as Nick finished the explanation, the interdimensional bubble momentarily disappeared and a small white portal opened behind him. "I'll miss this place. But hey, who knows, I might decide to come back again someday." He and his friends walk through the portal. As the portal closes, the bubble reappears. |
