They should run the gamut of stereotypes from Meathead Jock to Comp-Sci Nerd but are all friends regardless. The catch here is that the supernatural threats they face are legitimate and scary, with real nameless horror style monsters and freaky deaky sacrificial cults being behind all of the "small town mysteries". Throw in some Evil-Dead style macabre comedy, plenty of immature bickering and lots of nail biting horror action and you've got a recipe for awesome! |

Rolls will keep them beliving that they are just more preceptive or are getting "special" powers. Keep them on the surface just dealing with cultists to start with, then slowly draw them in. The problem with CoC is that every one knows they are in a Lovecraft story so no one acts like a Lovecraftian protaginist who is convinced that there is nothing to this superstisious gobeldy-gook. You know that Thelma from Scooby Doo would read the Necronomicon front to back convinced that there is some sort of secret code in its pages. |

What kind of doesn't work though is that CoC isn't very funny and one of the goals of this game is Evil Dead style Macabre humor in addition to the real scares. Examples of what we've faced so far in this game... - A reanimated Museum Skeleton of a T-Rex - Evil Insect Clones of ourselves and the other townsfolk (we killed them with bug spray, it was truly funny). - A group of canabalistic hikers who have become Wendigo's (One of the other party members started dismembering them with a chainsaw). - Currently we're battling Magic Enhanced Football Players who seem to have been made slaves of the evil cult and are seeking some magic artifacts we stole from a museum. |
