Dahreen Illurienne 11-02-03, 10:12 PM	((Note: This thread is a continuation of a specific chat storyline involving Silk, Jaenefer and some others. It is also related to the Veykayan threads on this board.)) Dahreen waited... Her pack on her shoulder, her grey coat buttoned to her throat against the cold, her hand resting lightly on the hilt of her sword, she stood at the side of the road to Greyhawk city. Silk killed Siobhan...Siobhan dead....It was true!
JaeneferSilverleaf 11-03-03, 09:00 PM	Jaenefer allows Silk a few hours rest in a room at the Cross Roads Tavern while she sat in a chair with her back to the door, her eyes on the window. She sat in quiet contemplation. At the allotted time, she stirs and moves to waken the resting Silk. "Come, Silk. It is time to be on our way. The sooner you are cured, the sooner I can be at ease again. Here, let me give you aid." She rests a hand gently on his arm as he wakes.

After making sure they are both properly equiped, he nods to Jae softly and makes his way downstairs: :sliping out of the tavenr slowly. His jacket is closed tight, his face slightly covered by a hood, but not enough to hide the paleness in his face. He breaths quick and shallow,as if walking is a labor and he makes his way to her side. He waits a moment to make sure Jae is still there before turning around: So which way to this temple?

JaeneferSilverleaf 11-04-03, 11:41 PM	Jaenefer nods and shapeshifts herself into a tall, graceful buckskin mare, whickering for him to hop on for the ride. she carries him most of the way at a smooth lope and stops before the rendezvous point, whickering and shaking her shoulders for him to get off again whereupon she shifts back to her usual form. Instead of her usual dresses however, she wears cottony leggings and blouse, both tightly fitted for silence and seem to shift color. .o0((you will not do more than you need to and for now, you do not need to walk. Save your strength for when we will need you to have it.))
Dahreen Illurienne 11-05-03, 11:06 AM	Dahreen cannot help but be relieved when she sees Silk riding up the road toward her. She is about to speak but pauses as the horse Silk road becomes Jaenefer. She nods to them both. One way then the other, she casts her gaze upon the road. Satisfied she turns back to Silk and Jaenefer. She gives Silk closer scrutiny.

Dahreen Illurienne 11-05-03, 10:31 PM	She kept her eyes on the road, most of her attention their surroundings, and her voice low. "Not a clear one I am afraid. Siobhan is dead and she had no known acolytes. But she did have Illithid body guards. I have only seen two at any given time, but that means little with their kind." She fixes them both with a grim expression. "The temple is constructed in the form of a maze and there is no natural light, only magical. It's location is somewhat obscure." She looks around again, obviously waiting for someone. "That does give us the advantage of a very swift mode of transportation," she says as robed figure with long silver hair approaches.

Though if your stories on the matter are to be believed it is not confidence but arrogance." "Arrogance? I am not so sure," Dahreen answered. "This one," she indicated Silk, "did Slay Siobhan Veykayan." "Oh yes?" Said the stranger, appraising Silk. "Then this should prove quite interesting." "Hello Aydin," Dahreen said, smiling. "Hello your h...hmm Dahreen." He winked. Now he stood just before them and began to shimmer, his form growing large, and when the shimmer faded, there stood a silver dragon. "Most days I am an archmage, right now I am your ride," Aydin said drily. "Now up with you all."

Dahreen Illurienne 11-08-03, 07:32 PM	Dahreen gets up on Aydin's back in one smooth familiar motion. "I don't know if they ride often or..." She began in the best approximation of draconic a human tongue allows. "Already ahead of you," Aydin answered in the same tongue. The travelers get a sense that a form of magic holds them gently in place on the dragons back from their waists down. "So you dont try to break of my spines or wings or anything else holding on," Aydin explained with a grin in the best approximation of common tongue a dragon mouth could form. Without another word, Aydin the Silver Dragon spread is wings and took to the sky, up over the trees toward the aerial portal area.

She appears to find the riding spell confining, but tolerates it, and carefully watches the lands below them slip by as Silk rests.
Dahreen Illurienne 11-09-03, 07:17 PM	Dahreen rides at ease. Aerial riding is nothing new to her. After less than a half hour in the air she pulls a pendant from under her coat. "This is where we leave Greyhawk," she said. She held up the pendant causing it to glow, her eyes straight ahead. She called out a word of command. A Gate opened in the sky before them and Aydin flew through...into another dark, star filled sky. The Gate shut behind them. Below them a the a small dark village broke the treetops below. "This is Kan Homa," Dahreen said, "the last village anywhere near the temple to MajKall. We will soon reach our destination."

Dahreen Illurienne 11-12-03, 11:23 AM	Dahreen leapt off Aydin's back in another smooth and practiced motion as the dragon landed on a rocky ledge in the wood. She then stood by to see if Silk needed any help... It was getting toward midnight. There were no clouds obscuring the stars. It was bitterly cold. Around them the trees were bare and winter and white as bone in the starlight.

"I will be right where you left me when you get back...and that means all of you." He finished in a very fatherly admonishing tone. "This way," Dahreen whispers and beckons Silk and Jaenefer to follow her into the shadows.

Dahreen Illurienne 11-21-03, 12:12 AM	((and it only gets busier)) She held up a hand against further speech and led them on finally pausing with her hand on the upper rim of the mouth of a cave. She motioned as best she could that she would go first and that Jaenefer should go last with Silk between them and then reached for Silks hand and motioned Jaenefer to hold his other one. The cave beyond was black as pitch.
JaeneferSilverleaf 11-22-03, 06:30 PM	Jaenefer takes Silk's hand and squeezes it lightly before following him into the cave. Her eyes flicker a second once inside and she seems to be able to see as if it were daylight, glancing around at their surroundings. Her footsteps fall in absolute silence.

Dahreen Illurienne 11-28-03, 11:02 AM	Out of memory, Dahreen led them down and down toward the heart of the temple. Nothing hindered her and her companions. No sentinel observed them. Nothing barred their way. Eventually, a faint green light permeated the air. They were very close.
JaeneferSilverleaf 11-28-03, 07:55 PM	Jaenefer offers a silent prayer, "Bahamut, Great Father..I beseach thee. My task is great and my love the price if I fail. Give me the powers and strength I once had when I was younger, a very long time ago." Jaenefer's eyes begin to reflect light much like a cat's afterward and she seems to have more confidence in her silent barefoot stride. She squeezes Silk's hand softly and walks on. .oO (let this last long enough...I have been alive too may years...)

Dahreen Illurienne 12-05-03, 11:48 AM	As they moved closer Dahreen began to walk more carefully. She led them to a specific doorway and paused, listening. After a moment, she nodded, satisfied. Into the room, she led the, keeping to the wall. She looked back to Jaenefer and motioned back to the door with her chin and then made the motion stay there with her other hand. The green glow was brighter in this room...bright enough to see well. There was little to guess in what this room was used for. Dahreen, beckoning Silk to follow, made her way through the bloody slabs for a series of shelves with draws underneath them. She tucked her hand into her sleeve and pulled open the drawer. She knew exactly what she was looking for and where to find it. Out of the drawer she pulled a small vial of a dark liquid. This she unstoppered and sniffed it just as she had the last time. She had to be certain. She smiled relived as she turned to Silk. This was indeed the antidote. She held it out to him. ((Note: when Silk drinks the antidote it will most likely render him unconsciouss, unless he has a very high constitution score or equivlent. It will cure him completely but it is powerful stuff. ))

Who were they, what were they doing?... Invaders? Yes! Fool! Invaders and Thieves! See them steal your grandmother's brews! Without further hesitation, Melandi began to chant...

Dahreen righted herself quickly and held a hand out to steady Silk. The ground shook... A low and terrible moan rose around them. Dahreen bit back a curse. Hurry! She mouthed, gesturing that they have to run...now.

JaeneferSilverleaf 12-14-03, 06:30 PM	Jaenefer's ears perk as the footsteps come into her hearing range, the color of her skin shimmers momentarily, from her normal Elven to a silvery blue metal and back as she seems to take hold of her emotions. She presses for them to move faster, praying fo Bahamut to grant her the use of a Haste spell

He hears the voices coming from behind: o O ( figures ) :turns around for a second a quickly draws forth a string of 12 peral like crsytals, each nearly an inch in size. crouching down he quickly removes all 12 from the string and rolls them gently out onto the floor before turning back towards the ladies and running again: just run, don't ask ( 12 crystals. each crystal is hollow and filled with grease before resealed. A modified firetrap spell protects each of these crystals. While the others are still strung, one can be removed and thrown at a target. Once the crystal breaks it trigures a fire trap spell causing 1d4+15 damage withing a 5ft radius. The explosive nature of the spell causes the grease within to fly out, causing an additional 1d6 rounds of fire damage to the target, unless otherwise countered, either magically or mundane. Should more then one crystal be removed from the string at any given time, then the activation of the first trap will automatically cause the traps of all crystals currently removed from the string to activate as well in a spell chain. ))

Dahreen Illurienne 12-15-03, 10:44 PM	Dahreen started as a series of pops, squeals, a loud rush and red glow were suddenly behind them. Well that should hold them a while... She felt nothing from her calling...which meant none of those following them were living people. Zombies maybe? She didn't bother to finish the thought as more footsteps sounded and the horrible moan grew louder.

WizO_Silk 12-20-03, 09:21 AM	:turns before jae and crouches low to the floor, resting his hand against the surface and whispers softly. 3 feet from where they just ran a wall of stone quickly forms, sealing off the passage. (wall of stone,2inch thick). Nearly falling to the floor in exahustion, he leans againsts Jae and looks for a help up: Sorry...not going to let you pull one of those heroic stay behind moves.... goes against the thieves code and all. :smirks tiredly:

Dahreen Illurienne 01-05-04, 11:14 PM	((Here I am! Sorry about that. Just got back from overseas.)) They were pressing on...and doing so unmolested. Their foe had been woefully unprepared. Up they went, faster this time along the path Dahreen knew very well. Unfortunately, Melandi had one more surprise... At the cave's mouth it was still dark, perhaps an hour or two before dawn. Dahreen led them out of the cave, back over the icy rocks, under the winterbare trees. Snow fell heavily, making hard to see. Fortunately Aydin was hard to mistake. "Well, he's still standing which means you found the potion. Very good. You'll forgive me for rushing you, but flying will be nigh impossible if the snow gets any heavier."

"Several. On their way out of the cave. But no worries," he grinned his draconic grin. "We will be long gone by the time they get out." Dahreen sighed. Quietly, she checked the sleeping Silk's vital signs. She grinned. He'd be allright.
JaeneferSilverleaf 01-11-04, 07:36 PM	Jaenefer holds Silk tightly to her, as she hisses between her teeth. "Fly as if there were no tomorrow," She said to the Great Creature in it's own language. "For there may not be for us if we do not escape!"
Dahreen Illurienne 01-13-04, 01:46 PM	Aydin flew. You do know you are going to have to go back and fix that... He said in Dahreen's mind. She sighed and said in his mind. Yes. I know. But they will keep until I get these two to safety and that is what I will do. Dahreen opened the portal back to greyhawk and safety at the right moment and Aydin flew them through. "Allright now," she said as the portal closed behind them. "Where shall we bring you?"

Dahreen Illurienne 01-15-04, 03:54 PM	On they flew for a while, back toward Fordskeep. Aydin brought them down in a wood. "This is where the flight ends," he said, "though I will help you now on foot if there is a need." Dahreen slid of the dragon's back and stood by to help Jaenefer with Silk if needed.
JaeneferSilverleaf 01-15-04, 11:01 PM	Sliding from the beast's back, she pulls Silk onto her shoulders. It looks quite awkward actually, the tall man bent over the tiny elf. She does not falter under his weight however and she nods to Dahreen and the Dragon. "We will be forever in your debt and shall not forget what you have done. If ever you have need, call upon me or my kin for service." She nods again and trudges off into the woodand finally to the Cross Roads Tavern in Ford Keep where she takes him to his room, setting him carefully down and slipping off his boots. She gets him as ready for bed as is polite and tucks him in, sitting nearby, her eyes never closing as he sleeps, watching his every breath.
