| Joan02-29-04, 04:02 PM | Joan was walking seemingly aimlessly in the long, too richly decorated room, using her decorated sword as a light cane, marking her delicate steps with metallic, sharp notes, precise metronome, reflexion of her own calm heartbeat, methodic. o O ( Now, no worries, Joan, you know what tenebrous shadows you have to lift from the scarred face of the hallowed Toril, brilliant herald of the Order of the Radiant Heart. That excruciating mission is of critical importance for the church's well-being, for further developpment of the ancient traditions, of the comfortable statu quo we established eons ago, that oinly a few sages among the living suspect." She turned around to face her visitors, brought within the temple's sturdy walls through emissaries, gossip, and other unreliable forms of information. They sat comfortably, waiting for her to present the motives of her request, the obscure reason justifying the employ of unknown mercenaries by the repected and esteemed Church of Tyr. |
| Thogroar02-29-04, 08:37 PM | One of the most unreliable of these sources of infromatoin sits in the back, gently reclining. People around her keep looking to her, as if she had the answers to their questions, but they are too timid to ask. She stands out in her stature, of course, but she also stands out in her appearance. If you were to imagine the most collorfull quilt you have ever seen, and then had it mate with a coat of pockets, the product would look something like what she is wearing. The colorfull garmet definetly makes her stand out. She's watching Joan carefully, waiting for what she will say. |
| Zanovie02-29-04, 08:44 PM | Standing silently in a corner Zanovie leans lightly on his staff and his eyes watching Joan from beneath the shadows of his hood. He appearce seems to be misplaced from his surrounding with the gray robes standing out with a dry look compaired to the elaberatly dacorated room. All that is really noticeable of him is a uncanny smile and his crimson tented eyes that always seems watchful. His long sword, which is odd for a mage to carry, sways as if he just stopped. |
| Agudo Archmage03-01-04, 03:05 AM | http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongladyhoot.gif http://www.members.shaw.ca/gordquigley/pictures/portlongagudo.gif Artwork copyright © 2003, Gordon R. Quigley ((OOC I hope this reaches the DM standard of well thought out not some one line post ;) .)) “Yes Bishop Orlando, my latest book… (How to Slay Vampires by Agudo) … is more than perfect for your needs.” The Archmage of Light put his arm around the Bishop and gave a reassuring look. The Bishop for his part did seem pleased by having Agudo’s latest book. For Orlando was sending out his disciples on a valiant treck, to vanquish an evil horde of darkness, in a near by haunted forest. Yet his purse strings were a bit empty at the moment. Clearing his well-fed throat he rubbed his sweaty hands on his vestments and made his offer. “I tell you what Sir Mage, the church of Waukeen is building a cathedral in town and all my extra coin is tied up in it.” Rubbing his plump stomach he continued. “And well” Cough “ I was hoping to make a trade…lets say a possibly rewarding Quest for another church… of Tyr…perhaps?” The Bishop was starting to sweat, for deal making, no matter how honest always made him feel desperate. Agudo took a few puffs from his corncob pipe, filling the air with the sweet smell of apple cinnamon as he considerd this trade. “What do you think Lady Hoot? The ever so lovely snow owl, sat quietly on a statue of some forgotten hero. She flapped her wings and smiled like all enchanted owls can. “It would be the chartable thing to do for the Bishop, as well as helping a good church like Tyr; and would be beneficial in long term relationships with our Cathedral of Light.” The Archmage of Light considerd this and smiled as well. “Not to mention the opportunities to convert Tyr followers to the Light” Bishop Orlando was most pleased as well. “Then we have a deal then, excellent! Now I believe the reprehensive of Tyr for this Quest is Joan. She can be found just down the street in their temple….you cant miss it, for its richly decorated, somewhat gaudy if you ask me…. Just like your Wizardry robes” The Bishop winked at that last statement, and walked away happy that he had gotten such an expensive book; for a Quest that had nothing to do with his own church of Waukeen. Lady Hoot flew over to Agudo, landing on his right shoulder. “As a Lawful Good person I knew you would help Orlando out Agudo. Yet I was surprised that you didn’t give the Bishop a taste of your own sharp wit.” Agudo chuckled at the thought. “Yes well my dear you see... I for one must admit that wizards do prefer the most colorful of cloths and it would be hard to deny it. Never the less the Bishop will be coming back to me sooner or latter.” Lady Hoot took the bate willingly just to hear the pun. “And why is that?” Agudo snapped his fingers for his magical staff to appear, as he started walking. Then replying to his friend he gave a sly look. “For he was in such a rush to go... that I never had the chance to tell the Bishop one thing.!” Just then Agudo stopped and looked up and the ornate temple. “Ahh here we are” As the companion of Agudo for many years Lady Hoot had learned patients, when getting a complete answer form wizards. “Before you lose further track of the conversation Agudo what did you forget to tell Orlando. The mage was just taking the fist step up the marble walkway when Hoot distracted him. “What? Oh yes! That the small print in all my books say…. Not readable until final payment is paid!” The wise white owl knew what a hard bargainer Waukeen priests could be, but they had nothing on Agudo. The owl turned her head to look at the temple then at Agudo. “So in other words, until this Quest is done and the rewards Orlando spoke of happen….” Agudo winked at his wise owl. “That’s the problem with magical books…their so Magical!” Within a few minutes the two adventures had walked in and taken note of all who were there. The first person they saw was a man standing with his staff, in a simple gray robe, with only his reddish eyes showing. (Zanovie) Like most wizards they could feel each other’s power. It would tell them who was the strongest in the pecking order, for each magic user. Sadly this often led to Egos butting heads on just who was better. Never the less Agudo prided himself on his diplomatic skills, and would often humble himself to others less powerful in the Art. But in this instance that would not be necessary Agudo thought. For while no Elminster! This gray robed wizard with the crimson eyes, was more than he seemed. A strength could be clearly felt radiating form him, someone to be respected and if crossed by some... feared. The Archmage of Light gave a polite nod as he made his way past the man. Lady Hoot had seen the colorful outfit on a woman who stature gave her dignity and grace. Yet Hoot was struck by the words of Agudo just a short time a go. That being …Wizards wear the gaudiest cloths. Seeing others sitting and waiting quietly Agudo mumbled a few words and began to float off the ground. He sat cross-legged with his blue and white robes slowly swaying just three feet off the ground. His staff vanished and he took off his hat holding it in his left hand. Revealing his long blond hair that was done in a sharp ponytail. Agudo then reached up grabbing hold of his corncob pipe from his mouth causing his magic rings to sparkel as he did so in the well lit room. Seeing the lovely woman in the front, who walked some what nervesly. The good wizard smiled and he assumed this was Joan. With that done and enjoying his clasic pipe once more, having a few puffs giving the air around him, the sweet smell of apple cinnamon. Agudo and Hoot waited for the information on the Quest. |
| Joan03-02-04, 04:01 PM | Her eyes widened slightly, when they landed upon the only three adventurers, who did heed her whispered call, a small group of courageous heroes or never-do-wells, complete strangers to her expanded knowledge, apparently totally unrelated to her beloved Church, some pure souls dedicated to unflinching justice, brave hearts ready to sacrifice warm family, comfortable homes to run in the murky sewers of tempting torments, in which the thin fibre of their valuable lives could easily be cut, desperately precipitating their horrible departure to the Fugue Plane. A faint, invisible sight left her red lips as she silently sheathed her blade, a marvel of professional craftsmanship, a relic upon which the lively light of the torches hanged on the stone walls created lightning flashes, hurtful to the unwary eye. “Greetings, my distant friends. It is an immense pleasure to me to have sought your desired sympathy to our problematic situation, in these dire times, in this dramatic period in which terrible foes and helpful friends seem to be made of the same complex material, in which even the proverbial purity of our good churches is at stake, their solid stands, their most profound beliefs threatened by nauseating political turmoil, by treason coming directly from the less suspected members of their own ranks. It is in such a situation that I welcome you today, more as a humble servant than as an exalted hostess, relieved at the comforting thought that some did not leave us without support, that our high ideals, still, are held in esteem by the people we strived for so long to cleverly protect. Now, listen carefully, for I shall pour, like a sweet juice, knowledge forgotten for most but old, desiccated murky tomes and strange oracles, only encrypted in stones’ memories and scholars’ staves. The story that is of interest to us brings us to the Dawn of our times, when the Moonmaiden was only newly born, at the primal creation of this yet untamed universe. Upon its creation, the twin goddesses, the dark, jealous Shar and her antonymic counterpart, battled violently, fought many encounters directly, for the first and last time, and of this swirling storm of disruptive energies came to existence Chauntea, goddess of agriculture and crops, divine embodiment of Toril itself, Mystra, the Lady of mysteries, the Witted minister of the Arcane Arts, as well as Tempus, a chaotic, uncontrollable mass of whirling blades and destructive strength. Happily, and this despite the miserable unreliability of the Lord of Battles, these children fought with the Moonmaiden, pushing Shar further into her primal essence, nothingness, yet still without totally gaining the upper hand, killing in the egg the lethal threat she was, and continues to remain nowadays. Bitter as she was, jealous of their success, of the potential growth that may be Toril’s new future, she devised a vicious plan, the first she ever crafted for this very plane of existence, and brood in the deep entrails of the Underdark a dark stone, big like the fist, a treasure of evilness radiating her corruptive abilities, meant to twist the good gods creations as they would be born, transmuting life to decay, as if she let upon her departure a nauseous child, sickened with a lethal, contagious illness. As soon as they noticed the strange effects of this vile trick, noticing the creation of horrible monsters, tyrannical hobgoblins, destructive orcs, repugnant Ogres, the invincible forces of Good sent halucinating visions to their most trustworthy followers, warning them, instilling within them the scaring knowledge of such a menace, urging them to create hunting expeditions, scouting teams to find and neutralize Shar’s poisoned gift. Many descended into the Underdark’s maw, deep in the dense obscurity, encountered horrors best remain unseen, went to distances so abyssal that they could feel some unbearable heat. Many encountered civilized races never met before, were painfully tortured and enslaved by Illithids, tortured by drow matrons, spied upon by svirfneblins. Several tried to parley, a few tried to defend themselves, but only a miserable handful came back alive. Yet, despite these saddening news, a light did shine upon the skirmishers, as one of the few groups that came back returned successful, holding in one hand a blackened stone, its surface undulating, as though it was made of blackened water, of soiled molasses, the other hand of the bearer missing, gnawed by the solid jaw of a red dragon that found them in the tunnels. Strangely, unlike most other groups, these adventurers were not all of the same beliefs, were not all encouraged by the same Church, nor a common association. “ Finally, she shut her lips for a few seconds, trying to catch her breath, looking to see if her interlocutors were able to follow her speech. “Before continuing, is there any thing I should clarify, about what I formerly said?” she gently asked. |
| Zanovie03-02-04, 09:28 PM | He glances over at the blonde hair mage with a smirk on his face, a strange feel of power seems somewhat similar to his, but maybe the other amge has more power. Zanovie then listens in silence, his crimson eyes studding each movement of the others. As he takes in the infromation a curious grin crosses his face at the mention of forgotten knowledge then his eys widen at the mention of what is hidden bellow. A some what mectioned fear stricks in his eyes, but his facely expestion tells nothing. |
| Thogroar03-03-04, 03:58 PM | The woman Listens intently. . o O (So... where do we fit in?) |
| Joan03-05-04, 07:34 AM | "The impressive diversity of most of those bold adventurers is where lie the problem we must face today, prisoners of Shar's villainous trap, odious backstabbing attempt. As it was their diversity that granted them sahe haven, that allowed us to delve within the inferno of earth and return from barely alive, if not well, as it was the weird combination of a mystrran archmage, a savran hierophant, a tyrran soldier, a selûnite rogue and a skerritan ranger, most clergies concluded that this adventuring party was a distant sign of their powerful gods, the new bases of an eternal treaty that should remain observed, if only to keep the faintest hope of survival against the rampaging forces of evil. Quickly, high priests and massive delegations met on neutral ground, and composed a reaty of mutual help, a paper upon whin the conditions of the stone's safekeeping would remain clear, defined for the future generations to come, and would allow no tergiversations, no doubts, no endless protestations. Days of conversations and negociation were needed, before the quill finally left the paper, leaving in its wake the print of fresh ink, the signatures of the different religions' chiefs of that ancient , savage time. The severe terms of that contract, however, are anything but lenient. In that bloody period, in which might made power, and cruelty gave rights, and in which the Gods themselves were not constant allies but shifting, nebulously understood even by their own clergies, a constant mist of internal mefiance filled the new allies' hearts, urging them to add, with their new union, new punishments, harsh rules that could let a potentially betrayed faith the right to get back what it lost, to fight back any treason. These rules were harsh, yet they seemed effective at the time, and never were they amended. Still, their terrifying application would have left any of us frightened, nauseated by the new suggestions, alternatives we could use in these frightening, violent possiblility. The rules encrypted on the simple piece of paper, the course of action we could take if, for some reason, the Stone was not passed around, allowed us anything to get it back from any hoarder, be it subtlety, lying, theft, or even....murder. Now, I know, most of these possibilities break the scope of the dogma we distribute generously while speaking to our children, our devotees. However, none of these actions is vile in itself, as long the mean crowning it remains clear, and would be worse left untended than attended in this way. Already, many churches employ divine seekrs to retrieve stolen treasures and lost artifacts, Slayers of Domiel masterfully eliminate threats to the faiths, and war itrself, those brilliant, inspiring war we wage in honor of our benevolent gods, are not without their victims and mourners. That is such a situation, and such a situation in which, even, any actions we could take won't be judged, will be upholded by a precedent agreement, for every course of imaginable action probably was thought of at the composition of the treaty. It is such a time, I say, for, for the firsdt time in History, a church refuses to cooperate anymore. The terms of our accordance were simple, yet binding: Every Faith of the mystic Union would have to take, every fifty years, the burden of keeping the Black jewel, of securing it from the hands of the chaotic forces of Evil, constantly shifting its possessor in hope of foiling Shar's minions, of keeping it away from their darkened claws. Recently, however, Selûne's clergy decided that rules were not important enough for them, that they could instantly revoke a solid system, upon which our world's well-being stood since the dawn of times, and decided that the stone would now remain in their caves, indefinitely, confidant in their overestimated capacity to decently protect it. The sad fact is that most forgot about the existence of that stone, counting its story while forgetting its accurate veracity, twisting it slightly, giving it the blurry distinction of a metaphor, forgetting that events really happened in a distant past, perhaps also scared of the direct means of retribution and retrieving contained in their precedent mutual agreements. That is why, today, I decided to contact you, I preferred not to send a team of trained clerics and of heavily armored paladins. Here, that would cause heavy ruckus, would begin with an official delegation sent to the Selûnite Pontiff, warning him of our approach. Then, a heated debate would ensue within our own walls, tearing our own community, divided about the means we should use to get it back, would weaken us from within. For conclusion, an all-out war could ensue, leaving the population in fear, leaving our fleshy flanks unprotected from the rusted spears of the legions of Hell, who would probably benefit from that dissension among our ranks. For these reasons, and maybe others that aren't on my mind at this very moment, I preferred to employ a small force, skirmishers. Up to now, I am confidant that Tyr does not scowl at my method, continues to reply to my prayers, enlighten me with his visions. Will you accept this task, and should I trust in your silence, leave in your hands both silence and force of arms, ask you to retrieve our prize, yet without spreading word of it, without being noticed by other faiths, mine as well as others?" Quickly, she added, joining her hands: "“Tortured words, entwined with vileness, Deformed speeches, brood in darkness, Repel, silence, and leave that tongue to rest, May you be the clear reflect of the soul’s truthfulness.” |
| Thogroar03-05-04, 05:12 PM | The woman nods, indicating that she's ready for the task. |

Quigley Next to the Archmage of Light was his never-ending history book that he kept with him for just such an occasion. It floated with him, the red an tan leather binding open as a magical white feather, wrote every word that the priestess Joan spoke that for some reason always made Lady Hoot roll her eyes at the sight of it. Agudo could not help but think how fortunate that he was given the opportunity to record this grand moment of history. Not only was he hearing the views of Tyr beliefs, about the false gods and their manipulations of people. But a civil war maybe brewimg as well! Oo… I wonder if I should title this chapter in my book…. Dirty secrets of the Faiths…oO As the wizard was musing at his writings, Joan asked for commitment from everyone. With Lady Hoot still on his shoulder Agudo stood and gave a polite bow and added. “By the Light we shall endeavor to uphold righteousness and goodness were ever we go. And may this artifact we look for be brought back to those of Justice and Truth” Lady Hoot nodded her head and winked at Joan. “That’s a Yes from Agudo!” Agudo raised his brow at Hoot then chuckled and as he did so his History of the Realms By Agudo kept on writing. |
| Zanovie03-08-04, 11:55 AM | Zanovie smirks and nods once teh preaching is over. "I will do as I am asked to do. Though I care not if light wins or darkness prevail. I am under your comand and will do my job with little complant, if any." Tapping his staff on the ground, it shimmers then vanishes, as he folds his arms into the sleaves of his robe. |
| Joan03-10-04, 06:36 PM | "All this is excellent, my friends", she said, a large smile adorning her fair visage. "Yet, some small problems could arise, that I have to tell you of. Primarily, everything I do is closely watched, and it is probably already reported that I am in here, speaking to three strangers to the church, and I will have to answer of the reasons motivating this spontaneous meeting. What I will tell them is that I sent you after an unknown spell, a goodly ward meant to protect you from the evil influence of the stone itself, when you will carry it back. They will simply think you were sent to discover or create a new abjurative incantation. What is really important is that you memorize the location of a strange loremaster, an hermit living alone by the mainroad leading to the city of Hurjil. Sadly, this very town is beyond the sea at the West, and thus at an incredible distance from here. However, it is my own, fantstic pleasure to offer you a shortcut, if you do want to consider it. Within the Ardennes forest, the shapeless mass of trees next to town is an old temple dedicated to Amaunator, Father of Light. It is said that any being foolhardy enough to enter its hallowed grounds, yet sharp enough to answer the riddle of the guardian, can cross the Sea walking, keeping both feet dry. I know nothing more precisely, and am only offering you this choice, at your own risk. Good Luck." |

Quigley As the Archmage of Light was musing the possibilities that Joan had laid before them. A lovely if somewhat silent woman, in a colorful outfit found her voice. Agudo looks to the woman who had just spoke and gave a polite bow. “Yes well? I believe your right it would seem dangerous to take such a chance. I am Agudo and my titles are many, so I wont bore you with them. Yet as you can see…” He points to his magically floating book. “I am writer and a wizard of magic.” He then gives a nod to his loyal companion on his shoulder. “And this lovely snow owl is Lady Hoot High Cleric of the Light and my wisest friend” Lady Hoot smiles like all enchanted owls can and replies. “I am pleased to meet everyone and I hope to share in your wisdom soon” Agudo then turns back to the colorfully dressed woman. “ May I have the honor of your name my lady?” He the chides himself and smiles at the mage Zanovie “Oh and your respected name as well Sir, I hope you understand that as a gentleman I spoke to the lady first.” |
| Zanovie03-17-04, 08:28 PM | With a sly smirk Zanovie glances in Agudo's direction. "Well if one like yourself wants to know, my name is Zanovie. It is a pleasure to meet a fellow magic weilder. Though I am not here to look for friends but toe consult the matter at hand and deal with it as quickly as possible." His gaze turns to Joan, "So where do we start." |
| Thogroar03-18-04, 03:09 PM | *The woman looks up at Agudo* "Agatha. They call me Agatha Blaine, but perhaps you may know me better by my stage name-- Spellbinder. I am a bardess of the highest reknown." *The status of her gear, in addition to the smell coming from her, suggest that she isn't as 'reknowned' as she would like, and only barely scapes by.* |

Quigley “Ahh a Bard, nothing can compare to the joy of singing, writing and even acting. To guide an audience into a world of adventure and fantasy, just by your words.” Agudo then thinks for a moment “ Spellbinder did you say? In my early days of traveling the Realms, I may have run into one by that name.” He then shakes his head and smiles. “O’ well my dear Agatha, I have written of so many people and places. That I often have to look them up in my book, humbly titled History of the Realms by yours truely Agudo... just to remember them.” Lady Hoot considerd the words of Zanovie. “Yes that would be a wise thought! Where do we start? I believe Agudo and the others, were not to ken on the idea of trampling through a forest, to some mysterious temple. What of a ship for travel?” |
| Thogroar03-19-04, 05:17 PM | Spellbinder keeps glancing between the owl and agudo. "That's quite a parlor trick you've got there. How do you do it? Throwing your voice, and using ventriloquism, obviously, but how do you get the owl to look like it's talking?" She reaches up to tap the owl "No.... not an illusion... how are you doing it?" |

Quigley As the wise snow owl was talking to Joan, Agatha taps her feathered head. Turning that same head all the way around like most owls can, she razed an eyebrow then spoke. “Agatha it’s understandable that someone of your upbringing lacks culture, education and wisdom. Sadly that is a reflection on your parents, and there is little I can do for the first part. But as for the other two dealing with education and wisdom, I shall endeavor to give you a quick tutorial” She flaps her wings, as the lovely owl turns around on Agudo shoulder. “ I am an enchanted owl, and yes that means I can talk.” She pauses and smiles before continuing. “I have an education that would be the envy of most royalty of any land. Agudo is my friend and companion as I am his. So please young one, wisdom dictates that in the future you should think wisely before speaking or acting on your high-strung impulses. With that Lady Hoot retuned her attention to the Cleric Joan, and waited for the reply to her question she had asked the priestess. Agudo took out his corncob pipe that he had put away during the speech by the Cleric. But now that the introductions were done, and the rather awkward situation created by the now questionable Agatha. Agudo felt this was a good as time as any for a distraction. Taking a few puffs and breathing in deeply the sweet smell of apple cinnamon. Agudo winked at everyone and then asked a question to Agatha. “Seeing your rather well worn cloths to put it gently… Are you sure you’re up to this Adventure? For you seem sweet enough, if a bit of a nave. Or to put it bluntly wet behind the ears child! What skills can you offer for this obvious dangerous Quest? Have you been on any real adventures?” The Archmage of Light, smiled as he asked these question. But still it seem wise to find out just how helpful some of the others will be in a fight. |
| Joan03-21-04, 09:21 AM | o O( Constant inner fighting will separate that group pretty soon, that is for sure. Let's hope they will satill be able to carry on that respectable quest that is now their duty. Hopefully, I cans till revoke my link with them anytime.) " Lady Hoot", Joan intervened, hoping to cut the dissession between the wizard and Agatha, " sadly, I can not offer, nor fournish equipment to you, and even less a ship in itself. The church, I already mentionned it to you, won't support these activities openly. I merely suggested a simple, efficient mean of transportation for you. Some are anchored at this very moment, in the harbor, and I bet many transporters would love to carry you to a destination, maybe for heavy woprk on the ship or for a respectable fee. I prefer to leve these binding choices to be yours, rather than forcing you to do everything the way I would've done it. " |
| Thogroar03-21-04, 10:45 AM | The woman of song's eyes bulge at Agudo's comments. She opens her mouth to let out some acid comment, but then closes it, with some obvious effort. . o O (Accusing a bard of having no culture! The nerve!) She storms off to stand next to Zanovie. "I'm not riding next to him", she states, motioning towards the mage. ~E |

The wise snow owl shook her head and smiled. “No it was something I said, and it looks like what they say about some Bards are true” Agudo thought for a second, then asked the question that he knew Lady Hoot wanted to say. “And what pray tell is that?” The white owl flaps her wings for a moment then gives a wink. “That Bards need nether Intelligent nor Wisdom, just their Charisma to get by in life” Agudo cant help but chuckles lightly. After a moment he considers what Joan has pointed out them. “The open sea is a wonderful way of to Travel. By the way Joan , what is the name the locals of this town call the sea? For I find each region has their own local dialect for important markers.” |
| Joan03-25-04, 07:58 PM | "Yes, wizard, it surely does a have a name for the local. The lively body of water you'll cross, hopefully, is called the Dragonmere bay, a carpet of water imprisonned deep within rocky slopes. From here, hwoever, that adventure will be lengthy, for you will have to cross the river going down to Selgaunt, even before reaching the great Sea. Ho, an please, never misunderstood the gracious influence a bard's charisma can carry in a party of adventurers. Many innocent lives were saved by the delicious words of an accomplished tale teller, and many more found solace under the sweet melody of their songs." |

May she always inspire others in her words and deeds.” Agudo then returned his attention to Joan. “Ahh yes Dragonmere bay! This will be a wily adventure to survive such a crossing.” Looking around he continued. “should we wait for others? Or leave now as a group?” |

The smell of salty air was refreshing ,the sound of ship bells being rung and sailors running about were inspiring. “Ahh Hoot this will be a grand adventure indeed!” The wise snow owl nodded her head. “Yes but let us choose wisely for a ship captain. I don’t want any repeat of that last sailing adventure.” Agudo gave a silly half smile to in jest. “As if I was to know that was a cruse for lonely Halfings” They came upon several ships, some were barely held together others more for war than passenger hauling. A scummy looking half org had a ship and crew that just reeked in illegal trafficking of some band product. The blond haired wizard looks away while taping his magic staff, as he walks along deciding. |
| Thogroar04-03-04, 10:19 AM | "A ship, A Ship" Agatha hums a sailing tune. "Just gotta find the right one. And a cheap one, too, if that can happen." Agatha wanders around the docks, trying to find recomendations for a good ship. ((Yep, that's a use of bardic knowlage)) ~E |
| Joan04-03-04, 04:16 PM | Under the close looks of the wizards the orcish clan grew tense, giving orders more brutally, making more efforts to hide what they were doing at the time, what kind of merchandise they were carrying throughout the seas. One of those, a highly ranked member of the crew, a brutish haf-orc, blessed with arms large as a tree, brought a hand to his chest and took off an insignia from it, too fast for the eye to recognize it. After having finished to unpack one whole box of the unknown material, all merchants were called back for an impromptu break in the ship's large belly, away from prying eyes. Agatha, lighthearteadly walking around, chatting with strangers, asking probant questions aboutthe the many ships kept in the small bay, found but a few informations. She learned about an old merchant who lost much, his precedent ship caught in a deadly storm, the eye of the mad hurricane swallowing his whole merchandise. He lost much from that, many valuable contracts and precious goods, and needs every help to rebuild with reputation, from strange, magical artefacts of tremendous power to cheap, working workers. Furthermore, she heard of a strange group of sailing minstrels, called "the arythmic waves." These fantastic bards, principally halflings and gnomes, would give shows in the bay itself, at night, on their small boat. They would light flamboyant torches, dance, sing and play exotic instruments, many of them using water to create harmonic, yet inventive sounds, to delight travelers and get some money. It was rumoured they would leave soon, leaving on their possible enchanted boat for another city, where they'd meet new spectators. |
| Thogroar04-03-04, 07:27 PM | Having thanked her informants, Agatha goes to find her new companions. "The ruined merchant will probably be a good choice for passage. He's a good merchant, or else he would not have been trusted with so much. But since he had recent misfortune, we can take advantage of that and get a good price on passage." She Hesitates. "Also, there are some specialty bards playing tonight. If at all possible, could we stay to watch? I'd like to, perhaps, find them and talk business." ~E |

Quigley Seagulls were gathering on the pears edge, as the sunset came into its majestic view for all to see. The blue and white robe wizard and his companion the lovely snow owl; were leaning on a few discarded crates, admiring the work of art in the sky. When Agatha returned rather pleased at her news, of unlucky ship merchants and musically talented short people. Lady Hoot was the first to respond. “Most seamen feel it’s unwise to sail at night my dear Agatha. I for one, see no reason why we could not enjoy the bardic tunes of your fellow thespians Agudo gave a cheery nod, as he turned form the lovely view of the setting sun. The mage also let out a small sigh of pleasure, as a romantic couple walked by; kissing at the end of the colorful display in the sky. “Its seems before setting sail then for tomorrows trip… We shall be entertained with music, of these dancing Gnomes and singing Halflings. Reaching into one of the many folds of his wizards outfit. He pulls out a few silver coins and hails a small crippled girl. “May I buy a few of your sugared chestnuts?” The young girl smiles as she sits on the pear, showing many gaps in her toothy expression and gladly hands him a bag full. Turning back to the others Agudo offers some, to Agatha, and anyone else in the adventuring group “So Agatha, do you really think that the curse, of this unlucky sea captain. Who barely survived a storm, is the right choice for are important needs? |
| Thogroar04-04-04, 01:21 AM | Agatha takes some chesnuts. She tries to carry on the conversation between bites. "Nope, not a.. mmm... curse. He wasn't cursed. I would have heard if there was a *munch* curse on him. He just had a bit of Bad Luck. A stroke of *chew chew* bad luck." She leands back against a wall and waits for the show to start. ~E |
| Captain Binkle04-08-04, 08:52 AM | Sailing threw the night Captain Binkle squints his sea-green eye through the darkness. "Lucius, tell me what you see," the gnomish captain yelled to the halfling bilge-rat. "Docks," came a reply. "Mr. Krurg, we are to make port to restock supplies," Captain Binkle began ordering. "Someone find Hale and Thorn. I'll need there arms." Both Lucius and Krurg replied. "Aye" The ship came into port without a problem. Captain Binkle set up the order for his supplies, while the barbarian brothers moved the cargo onto the ship. |

Quigley The Archmage of Light was enjoying the night breeze, by the dock. With his fellow adventuring companions, as they made small talk. When a sea faring vessel made dockside, not more than a few yards from them. “I say Hoot isn’t that a Gnomish captain?” The wise white owl turned her head all the way around and looked at the crew. “Yes Agudo, your right, and you know what they say about Gnomes right?” The blond haired wizard smiled and winked at Lady Hoot. “No Danger to small, No Dare turned down!” The snow owl nodded thoughtfully. “They are known for their adventures spirit, and more importantly, they work and charge on the cheap” Agudo rub his short blond beard as he agreed whole heartily. “Most likely any other ships captain will charge us an arm and a leg, for safe travel to where were going… Even then if it’s to dangerous, they may just dump us off at some island if things don’t go well” Lady Hoot considerd that thought. “Yet Gnomes are more interested in the adventure, than the guaranty of treasure. Not to say this Gnome won’t want some payment in advance. Yet he will be just as excited at the possibility, of what were doing as we” The Wizard straightens his blue and white robes. “Well their no guaranty this captain Gnome or not will be available for are dangerous quest. But I shall endeavor to find out.” Agudo picks up Hoot and walks over to the ramp, leading up the Gnomish ship. “Ahoy! May we speak to the captain of this grand sailing vessel, of the high seas?” He waits for a second then adds “I am Agudo the Archmage of Light and this my wise friend is Lady Hoot. Agudo points politely at her as she sits on his shoulder. Lady Hoot smiles. "We have come seeking a brave crew to take us on a voyage across the sea" " |
| Captain Binkle04-09-04, 09:26 AM | "And you'll not find a more braver crew," Captain Binkle stated proudly. "What is your destination, good wizard? My ship my be able to take you. If the price is right or your spells, and arms," added Captain Binkle noting the others on the dock." |
| Myranthor04-09-04, 10:08 AM | On the wooden deck of the gnomish ship, Agudo found himself encricled by laborious workers, by falling ropes and folded sails, lone beacons of white in a dark sky, the blackened stupor that covered the city, night after night. From the highered ground, Lady Hoot's piercing gaze, her luminous eyes, capable of tearing through darkness like a bullseye lantern, distinguished, slowly arriving, a bulk of passerbys near the calmed harbor, seemingly attracted like bees around a honey bowl. Farther in the se, in places where the untrained eye can't reach, a loud, ominous sound cae to birth. It was a cosntant expansion, the overcoming, slow yet progressive crescendo, a sound invisible at first, to become impossible to ignore. It seemed at though it came directly from the sea's depths, an indistinct impression of tension and unspeakable fear, creating in the anguished hearts of those assembled and called the same anxiety that would cause the long awaited arrival of a frenzied, megalomaniac kraken. |
| Zanovie04-09-04, 11:55 PM | In silence Zanovie has been following the others. Thoughts drifting in and out of his mind, if any where try to make understanding from his thoughts they would just be confused. With simple smirks lingers on his face as he thinks, of what no one knows, only that it deal with a hidden agenda of his own. Turning about he studies his surroundings and his fellow companions. .oO( This will be a most enjoyable trip....) |

Quigley The Blond haired wizard gave a small bow and smiled joyfully at the stout Gnome. “Well met Captain Binkle, may the seas always be gentile and the wind at your back.” He and his owl walk up to the Capitan, and start negotiations. “ Yes myself and a few other daring souls, are on a quest of utmost importance.” He waves his hand and points to the others down on the dock. “We seek a strange Lore-master, a hermit living alone by the main road leading to the city of Hurjil. Sadly, this very town is beyond the sea at the West, and thus at an incredible distance from here. Thus is why we shall need your expert hand at navigation.” Agudo taps his lip with his right hand, as he considers his next words. “Your request for the use of my spells, during the sea trip, is a wise one. As for the others I shall let them decide.” He smiles as he continues. Yet know this, we seek an ancient Artifact that may hold great treasure as well. If you give us free shipping, I will give aid of my skills during the voyage. I shall grant you 1/3 of booty that we find.” Lady Hoot then adds a last extra insensitive. “ Or… As an added insurance for you; If we find nothing that you find valuable on this endeavourer Captain Binkle. Myself a High Cleric of the Light, and Agudo an Archmage of Light. Shall sign a legally binding contact that guaranties are magical services, for six months, “after” are quest has taken place” Agudo nodes his head. “Yes. Yes my Captain Binkle think about it! You would not have No mir-wizard, but an Archmage at your beckon call; and No small Cleric but a powerful High Cleric for six months. Capable of healing hundred of people at once if so commanded. Or I your Archmage could cast a Time Stop spell that would put fear into your so named enemy.” The mage gives another small bow “So what do you say Captain?” As Agudo and the Captain finish talking the wise white owl feels something just beyond. Lady Hoot looks out and sees movement and hears a disturbing sound “It seems Agudo and Captain Binkle something is going on out in the darkness. |
| Thogroar04-10-04, 04:48 PM | Agatha frowns, and grumbles something about Agudo giving away all of our treasure before we even set our sights on it. |
| Myranthor04-13-04, 08:08 AM | The ominous crescendo, after having reached its fantastic summit, a point too extreme to become louder, became a rythmless constant, a continuous sound coming from the sea. Two faint stars, fallen from the sky, floating above the watery surface, lighted from their wooden torches the black water's surrouding, iluminating dark swimming bodies. At a dazzling speed they circled around the two high torches, themsleves set extremely high, rooted on two still of those unidentified creatures. Each movement, each propulsive motion of their powerful paws provoked a different sound, the chatic tinglings of different bells, none having the same voice than its neighbor. |
| Captain Binkle04-21-04, 08:49 AM | Captain Binkle eyes the talking owl (Lady Hoot) curiously. "Where did you find a talking owl?" the one-eyed gnome asked Agudo. "Well, mage you seem to know your negotiate very well..," the captain stopped suddenly. "Mr. Krurg," the captain yelled to his half orc first mate. "Did you feel a shift in the water?" "No, sir," He replied. Hale, one of the imfamous The Brothers Rage, walked to the captain. Though he didn't say anything, his mannerisms and the tone of his grunts suggested that he had felt what Captain Binkle had felt. Each movement, each propulsive motion of their powerful paws provoked a different sound, the chatic tinglings of different bells, none having the same voice than its neighbor. "All hands, On deck!" Captain Binkle yelled. "We have guests! Lest show them our hospitality," He said with a grin. Thorn (the other Brother) was on the deck twin longswords in hand. "What are they, captain," Thorn said looking around. "Scrags," the experienced sea captain said. "Sea-Trolls. Make use of your spells wizard. Don't dump the bodies in the water. That is how they heal," yelled the gnomish captain drawing forth his saber. |
| Zanovie04-22-04, 03:15 PM | Zanovie smirks as he see the uncoming entertainment. As they drew near he begain to resight the spells he knew in his head to be sure to cast them correctly. He then waits till the opportune moment. |
| Myranthor04-27-04, 07:33 PM | Higher, over the bewildered gazes of the many spectators, danced multicolored lights, bruised fragments of fallen stars, swirling parts of a beaten, shattered rainbow, circumvulating around each other, eerily going down, instilling upon the merry eyes of any witness a subtle serenity, an atmosphere of sweet comfort, of well-being unequaled by any other mortal sight, until they dramatically fellinto the black sea to be forever drowned, their intense joy strangled by the oily substance, the opacious waves. When the slow current, cruelly, murdered the faint lights, the illuminated butterflies coming from the sky's womb, all sound died, slowly, in a long decrescendo, leaving to the attent ears a period of obnoxious, uncomfortable silence... ...until all sounds grew back, this time melodic and tuned, graciously linked, as an intense eruption of luminescent water, coming directly form the deep ocean itself, exploded like a renversed rain, revealing to the precendently blind eyes a troup of gnomes, playing and dancing, surrounded by tamed turtles, carrying, over their solid shells, torches and bells. |

The snow owl appreciated the artist work before her and rested comfortably on Agudo shoulder. “I say everyone it looks like we get a free show before we launch. I wonder who they are? Do they travel the coast performing?” He snaps his fingers and slowly levitates a few feet off the ground, Sitting cross-legged Agudo waved over a passing merchant and bought chocolate strawberries passing some out to the others who were hungry. “Food and a show! What else could we ask for?” He smiled at everyone and listens to the music. |
