ruthia 04-26-04, 09:09 PM	...And no I don't mean in real life here folks. Hi it's the ever loveable GM Ruthia here, bringing you a new game I have been introduced to. It has great possiabilities, so read the basic rules and sign on up if your intrested. Welcome to Little Italy, a small town in upstate New York. It is like most small towns-- with a bar, a doctor, police station, and rampant mafia problem. All right, so most towns don't play host to the mob. But here in Little Italy, the town is plagued the Giovanni family's killings, prostitution rings and drug cartels. The upright citizens of this town have decided that enough is enough, and have decided to root out the Mafia, once and for all. Unfortunately, no one knows who is friend and who is foe. Citizens, cops and gangsters all look alike, and it's hard to find out who a person really is until after they're dead... Roles: Roles will be PM'ed out to people; you do not get to choose your role. Above all else, do NOT reveal your role during gameplay-- the whole point of this game is to figure out who everyone is. (See rules for more information.) The roles are as follows: Citizen The most common role. The citizen's only job is to try to figure out who the mafia is and to vote for people who they think are in the mafia. In order for the town to win, all of the Mafia members must be killed. Mafia Depending on how many people sign up, there will be two or three mafiosos in this game. The mafia will communicate by PM to decide who to kill each "night". Once they have made their decision, they will PM the GM (me) with their choice. The choice will then be whacked, and the citizens will be left to decide who to lynch in retribution. If you are a mafioso, your goal in this game is to kill off all the citizens and turn the town into a den of crime and corruption. Cop There is one cop in this game. The cop is on the citizens' side, and is probably one of the hardest roles to play. The cop can investigate one person each night (by PM'ing me the person's name) and find out their role. The Mafia desperately want this person dead, so saying "I investigated so-and-so last night, and they're guilty/innocent/weird," is a surefire way to get yourself killed. Doctor Another pro-town role, the doctor can heal/protect one person each night. They cannot protect themselves. If the person they are protecting is attacked during the night, that person won't die. Serial Killer As if the Mafia wasn't bad enough, there's also a serial killer offing people every other night. The Killer has a pattern to his victims-- if another player can figure out the pattern, they could get a hint from the GM on who the killer is. Rules: Taken from the official Mafia game site: "The first step of any game of Mafia is to decide on the roles. In a basic game, this may be as simple as "I want a game with 20 people. 3 Mafia members seems a good number for this size." The next step is getting players. Generally, the Game Master will start a sign-up thread, and players will sign up until the game is filled up. The Game Master will then randomly assign roles to players, and send them out. The Mafia know each other, and can communicate at night to decide who to kill. Each night, they send their choice to the Game Master, who then posts the death and reveals the victim's role. During the day, everyone can post whatever accusations they like. Voting is generally done in some specific format (such as Vote: IS) to make it easier for the Game Master to keep count. Once someone reaches a majority, that played is lynched and the rest of the players find out whether or not they have lynched a Mafia member." This game will be limited to 20 people. I won't start it if I have less than 13; between 13 and 17 players will result in the loss of the Serial Killer and Doctor roles. If there is enough intrest in this though, I will be more then happy to ajust my numbers. These are just my starting points. In order to vote for someone, type Vote: Ruthia or whoever. You don't have to justify your vote if you don't want to, but if someone calls you on it during debate, you better have a good reason. The first vote is usually random, since no one has posted anything to be used as evidence. I will keep track of the votes and how many are needed to lynch. I also reserve the right to place time restraints on this. One "night" may not last longer than three real life days; if the Cop, Doctor, Serial Killer or Mafia does not send their choice to me within this time, they will not investigate, protect or kill that night. Also, days may have time limits. If nothing has happened for two or three real life days, I will declare the day over and the person with the most votes will be lynched. However, if a day has lasted two real life weeks, but there is lots of discussion, I will allow people to continue until a majority is reached. VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE: YOU ARE FORBIDDEN FROM DISCUSSING ROLES WITH EACH OTHER OUTSIDE OF THE GAME. The only people allowed to know each other's roles are the Mafia and the Cop (after investigation). If I find out that people have been sharing information about roles via e-mail, PM, phone conversations, smoke signals, whatever, I'll expel the person immediately from all future Mafia games that I GM. If you're interested in signing up, post here! Once I have enough people to play, I will randomly pick roles and PM people. The game thread will begin when I recieve the first kill choice from the Mafia. Also, if you have any questions about game specifics (either now or during the game) post them here. I'll answer them to the best of my ability. So here it is in all it's glory, once I have enough people signed up look for the starting thread and PM's letting you know who you are.

ruthia 04-27-04, 10:57 AM	Ok a little more clearing up for those of you who might have looked at this and said "Great sounds like a good game, but I don't want to have to make another character." This game real it's about the character build up more then it's about minipulation. So no character stats needed, no background unless you feel you need it, as a matter of fact you can really just be yourself in this game. The only chacter change you will have is the assigned role you get. And for the record this is how I'm picking roles, I'll stick everyone's name in a hat and let my kids pull them out on at a time! That way the roles are truely random. So far I have three members, that just leaves 17 more to go! Thanks for signing up Exiled, Dragon Master, and Malicious. I'm sure it's going to be fun working with all of you.:)

Dragon Master 04-30-04, 02:50 AM	Just a suggestion Ruthia, finding about 8 more players might be hard. I know that when I want to enter a new thread, I usually sign up at the begining, like I did with this thread. If i were to be someone just skimming over this thread, I might be interested, but would see that several people have already put down 'sign me up', and would probably think that this thread is full and its too late to join (this being that I don't read all the threads that I skim over in exact detail- I'm sure there are people out there that do this as well). It might be an idea to put on the top of your post that this thread is for a lot of people in big capital letters, if not to attract more attention, but to get posters like myself who would see a lot of people on this thread as full, and not read further into it to find that its rather a thread that needs a lot of people. I'm not quite sure how many posters out there do what I do when skimming through a sign up thread and see more then four or so people as full, so this is just a suggestion. Can't hurt to try.

So PM's going out today telling you your role. Thread will start up as "Little Italy" ((Yes MA I know it's not origanal, but I was told I could copy cat it :) )) Keep all OOC chatter to this thread. ruthia 06-08-04, 10:06 AM	Vote in the main thread. Ok here's our list of people in the game, ones in Red are mob Killed. Ones in blue are lynched by town. Once some one has been killed, I'll place their role next to their name. This way we won't try to kill some one twice and you won't have to dig back through the whole thread just to find out. Also perodically I'll tally the votes and post them here so we can see where we are at. Also for referance there are 3 Mafia memebers, 1 police person, and 9 townies. If more people join I'll adjust the numbers accordingly. But I think this way is more fun. Freedom of Destiny applies to ALL stories I GM. Including this one. Now granted you have no control over who gets lynched in the night, but everyone does have control over there own characters during the day time. Now if you are going to place someone elses character into a setting/action that they might not have had in mind it would be wise to PM them about it first. I use Freeform Roleplaying in all my stories, and I truely believe it is politer to ask first. Ok?? Thank you everyone, this is turning out great...In fact we almost have enough players to add the Doctor and the serial killer! Now if we end up with a few more people I will PM the ones who's roles will change, so I you don't get a role changing PM that means you stay the same.
Dragon Master 06-27-04, 08:16 AM	A question. If someone gets lynched with 6 votes, are the votes then reset or is it that when they get 6 total votes over the period of the game they get lynched? For example, Poster A has 6 votes, and poster B has 3. Poster A then gets lynched, does poster B still have 3 votes on him/her? And, is it possible to change votes once you have already voted, as long as you justify the reason IC on the main thread?
ruthia 06-27-04, 09:05 AM	Ok we need a majority to lynch, with the numbers as they currently stand that means 8. Yes you can change your votes as many times as you would like. No your votes don't count against you in the next vote.....But they could mentally count against you. If you had the second place votes at the last vote, some one my say that proves you right there!
