A riveted brass dome rises up from the ground, nearly buckling at the bolts holding its enormous metal plates together. Protruding from the top, out a large slot in the dome, extends a long, thick tube, also brass. This appears cobbled together, and isn't altogether straight. The metal seems very old, though it is burnished to a golden sheen. With a hiss of hydraulics and an ever-so-melodramatic cloud of pale steam, a panel at the dome's base slides open. From inside, you see an ancient dwarf laboring away at his star charts.
http://www.thespaceexplorers.com/hayden_telescope_50p.jpg

He looks up, and you see he is indeed as old as his posture indicates. His beard, which was once night-black, is now as pale as snow, and his bald pate glistens in the candlelight. Contrasting wonderfully with his beard is his deep blue robe, nearly black, embroidered with the astrological signs and runes. He wears a pair of crystal glasses, though he squints slightly anyway. He steps around his desk, avoiding the stacks of sky maps and horoscopes on the floor, and speaks in a quavering voice:

I am Heftig Sterndrache, of the sign of the Beholder. The stars foretold our meeting. Come in, please, and let me show you their great plans for you.
LostMage

06-15-07, 10:49 PM
Venti d'Sylph enters the observatory, and looks at the dwarf: "Aye, friend. The study of the stars is a noble art."
EpicEvokerElf

06-15-07, 10:57 PM
He turns slowly, his bones almost creaking audibly, and fixes Venti with an unblinking, pale-eyed stare.

I sense a geas of magic about you. Under what sign were you born, startouched?
LostMage

06-16-07, 10:37 AM
"I am geased indeed, sir. I was born under the sign of the Mage, but the geas was my own doing."
EpicEvokerElf

06-16-07, 12:35 PM
Sterndrache thinks for a moment, then scratches a few calculations on a scrap of parchment. He speaks again, with an air of academia about him.

The mage... That could be the Hydra under my stars... Fitting, I believe. Optimistic? Durable? Positive?
LostMage

06-16-07, 08:43 PM
"Aye. The Hydra, the Mage, or the Flare, depending on whose system you use. But, sir, tell me, do you look to the stars for magic?"
EpicEvokerElf

06-17-07, 01:03 PM
The magus smiles, his wrinkled face scrunching together in an almost comical manner.

Quite literally.

He gently lifts a thick case, black and bound in brass, from a drawer in his desk. Opening it gently, he shows Venti row upon row of glimmering crystal lenses.

My spellbook. They fit into my telescopes.
LostMage

06-17-07, 09:40 PM
The elf nods, impressed: "May I see, sir?"
EpicEvokerElf

06-17-07, 09:47 PM
Certainly. But please, be careful.

He lifts a lens out of the case and holds it up to the light, allowing the candlelight to illuminate the single rune carved into the crystal. He sets the lens down in the velvet-lined case once more, and pulls a 3-foot long brass telescope out of its leather case. Picking up the lens again, he slides it into a slot in the telescope barrel. He then angles the scope upwards at the sign of the beholder, high in the sky.

Here, take a look. Maybe you can decode my formulae. What spell do you think that is?
LostMage

06-17-07, 09:59 PM
"Ah, sir." Venti says softly, looking through the telescope, It is a beautiful piece of art that you have here. When you look at the angles in the rune over the lines of the Beholder...I can see most of the angles of Stone to Flesh, but..."

Suddenly, another person runs into the observatory, a young man wearing a black wool jacket and monocle. He looks around, and then exclaims: "D'Sylph! I was wondering where you've been all this time!"

"Sash? Were you the one who called me here?"

"Yes, but you botched your geasa - your magic couldn't tell the difference between the real Baator and this one. Oh, well, I managed without you. Well, I'll see you in the Taverne, I've taken on a class at a local school." and the transmuter disappears with a wink.
EpicEvokerElf

06-18-07, 09:12 PM
The astrologer hardly bats an eye at the transmuter's appearance. Once he leaves, Heftig resumes the conversation as if nothing had occured.

Thank you. You're very nearly, windmage. The rune is a Salt to Flesh spell; If you notice the last angle's acute instead of obtuse. One eccentricy of many in my collection.

The next question would be, could you prepare it from my rune?
LostMage

06-18-07, 10:49 PM
"No, I can not. I only work my spells by listening to the wind and looking at the stars. I am a sorcerer."
EpicEvokerElf

06-19-07, 06:49 PM
Ah. Indeed.
LostMage

06-19-07, 10:00 PM
Venti is about to respond when a young elf runs into the observatory: "Dr. Sterndrache! Something's fallen from the sky! Come see, hurry!"

Mind if I throw that in? Something mysterious falling from the skies of hell could make an interesting plot twist for the arena. If you'd rather I cut it, just let me know.
cog_n_taz

06-20-07, 06:17 AM
Mind if I chip in with what exactly falls down? It would be an awesome entry for one of my characters. One, E3, that you happen to know.
EpicEvokerElf

06-20-07, 07:46 PM
Heftig's contemplative manner dissapates in an instant. He stares intently at the elf with his milky grey eyes for a moment. Then, he grabs his staff from the bench and flips the lens case shut. He runs to follow the elf.

Where is it?

You'd have to ask LostMage, he may already have an idea. And Cog? Merithale's dead. Remember that. His rapier is in shards in the center of the arena.
LostMage

06-20-07, 07:56 PM
"It's just behind the Taverne! Please, hurry and look - I haven't gotten close to it yet, but... Mr. Venti, you come too, please?"

Cog, I'm okay with whatever you chip in, so long as it works for E3, since he mentioned something about someone or other being dead.
cog_n_taz

06-20-07, 08:33 PM
hey, nice guess! Also, he is not dead. The rapier may have been wallpaper'd, but the spirits that were in it are still around and still angry at the world at large, so yes, I will bring him back. Just asking if it would be okay to do it here.
EpicEvokerElf

06-21-07, 06:05 PM
The astrologer continues running in short yet loping strides, nearly passing the elves as he runs towards the Taverne.

A good judgement. The object may be dangerous, or it could harbor deadly magics. Or this could be another bid for revenge against someone here. Possibly one of the Moonlords, who harbor a special enimnity for those who study the stars.

Ask LostMage. It's his perogative, though I'd also like you to make sure he has nothing else planned. If his idea sounds neat, please either try to combine them (if possible) or just ask permission. I'm okay with "M" coming back as loong as there's a good reason. Maybe he and either Siveleth (again :P) or Heftig could fight.
cog_n_taz

06-21-07, 06:10 PM
Well, I'm waitin' on lostmage, than.
LostMage

06-21-07, 09:56 PM
I'm cool with whatever you decide to do, cog n taz.
cog_n_taz

06-21-07, 10:10 PM
What seemed to be a comet at first appears to shimmer as glass when the two near it. Soon, they see it in its entirety: it is a rapier. A perfect rapier, crafted from smooth glass, and radiating bitter cold and evil. It is stained red, as though filled with fresh blood.

The ground it strikes immediately becomes covered in black ice, rumbling harshly. Soon, the earth beneath it seems to scream in pain as it is torn asunder, exposing a yawning chasm down to the uttermost depths, where even devils dare not venture. From the chasm flows a terrible, tragic music, making all who hear it recall their worst fears, their saddest memories. And yet, soon, the music changes drastically.

Amidst the mourning is a note of vengeance.

A sheet of frozen flame roars up from the chasm, tinkling with glass. The sheet strikes the rapier, and shatters. From within it appears the glass sculpture of a man. Demonic horns and barbed wings rip out from their glass confines and into the world, radiating malign evil. Tongues of lurid black, cold flame whip around the figure as it bends down and grasps the handle of the rapier, pulling it from the ground. It stares at the two with dark eyes, eyes that burn with the hatred of millenia, and turns its back on them, walking toward the arena.

"The hour of the reckoning is at hand, siveleth. Soon, we shall have vengeance.."
EpicEvokerElf

06-21-07, 10:21 PM
Heftig stands, staring into the distance as the glass demon strides off.

Vengeance, indeed.

He turns abruptly and walks slowly back to his observatory, leaning heavily on his staff. His face is pale as he mutters to himself.

Vengeance indeed. I must study the stars. These events intrigue me.

That was abrupt. I'm still open for horoscopes and such, as well as discussion. Consider the first post restated.
LostMage

06-21-07, 10:47 PM
"I believe I will accompany you, Dr...Sterndrache. I too would like to see what the heavens foretell." Venti follows the dwarf back into his study.
dragor_shadowfury

06-22-07, 11:03 AM
A big black spider comes running towards the observatory. On its back sits an utterly black Thri-kreen. In his belt dangle four daggers, and from a strap around his shoulder hangs a heavy tome with a motive of a black mantis claw on the front.
"Greetings Heftig. I have heard that you hold great wisdom from the stars, and wisdom is to be ever prized. I wonder if you were ready to share a bit of yours."
EpicEvokerElf

06-22-07, 06:22 PM
Heftig turns to the ebony thri-keen and fixes him with an opalescent-eyed stare. His pupils dilate to fill his eyes, and he speaks with a voice filled with the volume of the stars.

Wisdom... We always quest for it, search for it, wish for it, yet true wisdom is only to be found in the searcher. Look deep inside yourself, god's child, and you will find that which you seek.
dragor_shadowfury

06-23-07, 08:52 AM
Suddenly another voice emerge from Loex' mouth.
"He does so, or rather, he look in the one who hold part of him in more than one way."
EpicEvokerElf

06-23-07, 12:01 PM
His aura of power flashes with annoyance, and his eyes clear. He asks the thri-keen civilly,

What, have you no soul? I jest, for you have many, but I ask you, Verminfriend, have you not found wisdom in your god? What is it of which you need knowledge, for only then can I help you.
dragor_shadowfury

06-23-07, 12:46 PM
"You can say that I have one soul and you can say this I have four. The one with whom you speak now is the god, that entity that hold most of the soul of the first Loex. The knowledge I seek is concerning my recompletion"
EpicEvokerElf

06-23-07, 12:51 PM
Heftig's eyes cloud over yet again, and his voice echoes even more strongly than before.

Travel to the true birthplace of your soul, and there you will find direction. Seek out your family, and there you will find redemption. Find your god, and then you will be complete. The stars have spoken.
dragor_shadowfury

06-23-07, 03:55 PM
"Your advice is a strange on indeed, neither I nor my soulbound servant has any family left, our souls are fragtmented, so the birthplace of my soul is a strange one as well, but I thank you for your advice, I will try to figure out how to interprent it and then, who knows what will happen?"

((Holy **** you hit the head of the nail there... That is just about the best prophercy on his completion ever... better than my own... Did you hack into my computer and read my notes on him?))
EpicEvokerElf

07-11-07, 11:54 AM
He speaks softly as the thri-keen rides off.

Who, indeed? Only the stars know.

Then he turns to Venti, and begins to discuss their disparate methods of astrology. Heftig swivels his large telescope towards the constellation of the wyvern for a moment, before examining others in turn. He mutters to himself, musing out loud about what he sees in the stars. He asks Venti,

How do you see the stars, d'Slyph? You carry no telescope, nor can any magic that I know of allow you to see that far. If you know of a spell, please speak of it, but you may use the telescope if you wish.

At that, the ocular swivels towards Heftig and a second eyepiece telescopes out of the barrel toward Venti.

Munchlord appear in the horizon, walking slowly towards the observatory carrying something heavy. As he stop outside the door and use an inchantation to make the sound of a bell, his burden becomes visible. It is a stone block of one cubic foot, made from red stone. Each side is inscribed with a green rune. It seems to weight down Munchlord more than its size would imply it to weight.
technomagi

08-06-07, 06:16 PM
The air begins to crackle and pink sparks go off in the air. There is a large puff of pink smoke and as it slowly drifts away Esmalda is revealed standing there. She has a drink in her hand which is rainbow colored and topped with an umbrella. She looks around spotting Munchlord and approaches him.
Greetings. That looks heavy would you like a hand with it.
dragor_shadowfury

08-07-07, 01:39 AM
"I do not need help carrying it, my arms have strength enough to lift it, and its more than a thousand years since I last needed to bother about fatigue" Munchlord says as he turns towards Esmalda.
technomagi

08-07-07, 06:05 PM
Suit yourself sweety. she says smiling demurly and wlkaing around him in a slow cicle that shows her off from every side. I was told that you may be able to help me though.
dragor_shadowfury

08-10-07, 04:09 AM
Munchlord keeps his gaze on Esmalda's face, offering her body but a short glance. "Lets cut to the bone then: What happens to be the problem, and what is the reward?
He pause shortly then add another comment.
"And on a side note, there is no need for your display. I left behind such... desires long ago"
technomagi

08-11-07, 03:19 PM
Esmalda drops all the flirtatious behaviour and becomes all business. I am told that you are an expert on portals. I am seeking to strengthen the power of a portal to somehow prevent anyone from interfering with it once erected. As for reward, what do you want? I have yet to give an estimate to my prospective customer so ask what you wish and i will factor it in to my price. That is if you can help.
EpicEvokerElf

08-12-07, 02:31 PM
Heftig turns to the two beings and speaks softly.

Pardon, children, but can I help you in any way?
technomagi

08-12-07, 03:07 PM
Esmalda smiles at the new arrival. Perhaps do you have any mystical expertise. She doesn't bother commenting about being called a child. Though she has lived for millennia she knows there are being more ancient still.
EpicEvokerElf

08-12-07, 03:58 PM
Heftig stares at her piercingly, looking about as affronted as an old dwarf can manage.

Of course. What is your dilemma? The light of the stars illuminates the answers to all problems.
technomagi

08-12-07, 07:58 PM
Well actually I am attending to some research on portals for a potential client. It seems that my client wishes to employ a means of protecting the portals that he summons from interference. She ruffles her wings a little and summons up some chairs for all of them to seat themselves and an unseen servent with a tray of drinks and hordeurves. Shall we discuss it.
EpicEvokerElf

08-12-07, 08:28 PM
Indeed.

Heftig sits and rests his elbows on his knees. He steeples his fingers and leans heavily on them, staring into the demon's eyes.

What sort of portals might these be? To where, and for what purpose? I must know more.
technomagi

08-12-07, 08:38 PM
The unseen servant pours a glass of wine and offers it to him. Esmalda takes a seat. Well it is a kind of power source. It pulls energy out of a different plane and allows the caster to do damage with it. The trouble is that the portal's energy can be redirected or blocked sometimes.
EpicEvokerElf

08-13-07, 10:00 AM
Heftig waves away the wine, shifting his chin on his fingers as he thinks.

From what plane? Generally no portal is foolproof; this just means the spell is normal. A runeguard might help, but I need to know where the energy originates.
technomagi

08-14-07, 08:01 PM
"positive material plane" she states. "nd that's the rub. You are right no portal is fool proof that I know of. Most magical practitioners use spells that briefly access one plane or another to create an effect or summon something to the field, but this is different. It stays open and for a time and makes the energy accessible. That is its vulnerability."
dragor_shadowfury

08-15-07, 08:04 AM
"At firts, you are wrong in that my speciality is portals. Rather, my speciality is runes and magic script, closely followerd by permanent magic effects. My runes might very well be able to help though, and my expertise on magic items might as well, dependant on wether your customer create a permanent portal... But said portal need not be present all the time to actually be permanent... Also I wonder who has directed me to you." He then turn at Heftig and speak "If I am not wrong, then you are the astrologist who work here. The expert in the night sky so to speak"
EpicEvokerElf

08-15-07, 10:42 AM
He asks Esmalda,

I believe you are referring to the Positive Energy Plane, yes? Am I right in saying the energy can tend to leak?

Heftig turns to Munchlord.

I am an astrologer. If you seek the knowledge of the stars, you have come to the right place.
technomagi

08-15-07, 07:02 PM
she says to munchlord. "someone at the school of magic said to seek you out.
dragor_shadowfury

08-16-07, 09:23 AM
First, Munchlord speak to Esmalda. "Hmm, The only ones I know on the school is septimus, grugol and Artak the father of the Undead. The latter is probably the only one of them who has much understanding of my powers yet... I would like to speak with the customer, for I belive the risk of misunderstandings is smalles if messengers are used no more than necessary. No offense ment of course. Concidering reward I would prefer metal of magic properties, and by that I do not mean enchanted metal, but metal that is magic by nature."
He then turn to Heftig.
"I have an object here" He lifts the cube slightly "With quite a mystery attached to it. I think we might both be able to profit from solving it... And I think we need the knowledge and capabilities of both of us to solve it."
EpicEvokerElf

08-16-07, 09:27 AM
Indeed?

He raises his eyebrows.

Then why don't you step inside and we get to work. Watch out for the star charts.
NorthWind

09-10-07, 08:18 PM
"Pardon me, sir, but could I have a word?" Ender Chant strides easily into the observatory, carefully moving so as not to disturb any of the delicate apparatuses of the astronomer's sanctum.

"I've heard from a few of the diplomats in the arena that you have several old spells in your collection...if I might have a look?"
EpicEvokerElf

09-10-07, 10:24 PM
Indeed. Who is to say what might be found in the stars?

He gestures toward the case on his desk.

My spellbook. Lenses, you see, to be lined up with the sign of the Beholder. Slot them in the telescope like so.

He demonstrates, the ancient magus seeming to grow more animated as he speaks.
dragor_shadowfury

09-11-07, 02:22 AM
Munchlord looks for some empty table space on which to place the cube. As he doesn't find any, he mumble an inchantation that summon a table on which he place the cube.
"This cube came into my possession around a hundred years ago. A merchant had found it on the road while travelling between two towns. I sensed much power emenating from the runes, so I did not hesitate to buy it. I have been unable to dechipher or copy the runes though, and I began wondering if more could be learned about it. It provided resistant to most spells though, but some of my more powerful divinations revealed that it originated from somewhere between or behind the stars"
NorthWind

09-11-07, 07:09 PM
Ender bows politely, and begins carefully looking through the case of lenses, until finally selecting a thick, crystal piece with a tarnished silver rim. Slotting it carefully into the telescope, he places his eye to it, and pulls from his coat pocket a pen and a scrap of parchment. Leaning on the table that Munchlord conjured, he begins to write, in small, slanting handwriting. After filling about half of the page, he looks it over. "Thank you, I believe this the part of an enchantment I've been working on for quite a while." he says with a smile.

Hearing Munchlord mention the cube, he turns to looks "There are worlds behind the stars...ah - your name? And yours?" he says, looking towards Sterndrache.
EpicEvokerElf

09-11-07, 08:41 PM
I am Dr. Heftig Sterndrache, and this is the Munchlord, whose plight I know not well. You are welcome.

He turns to the Munchlord.

Behind the stars, you say? Surely not-- but I cannot speak of it. Are you certain?

His eyes cloud. He picks up the cube and turns it slowly, examining the runes and muttering to himself. With sudden urgency, he asks,

Are you certain?
NorthWind

09-11-07, 09:30 PM
"You'd be surprised. There are worlds behind the sky - or at least, where I come from, there are." It looks as though Ender is going to continue, when another person speak in the observatory - there is a sudden smell of fresh rain, and the speaker can be seen, standing in a far corner of the room, leaning on a bookshelf as though he'd been there for hours. Young, with features too refined to be human, his white hair is tied up neatly in a ponytail similar to Ender's. "Master Chant, you're needed in the arena."

Ender turns to look at the fairy, almost as though he expected him to be there. "Again? Alright then. Thank you, Moth. If you'd see if Dr. Sterndrache would allow you to borrow some of his books, I'd appreciate it." Ender turns to the two mages, bows again, and walks out of the observatory.
EpicEvokerElf

09-11-07, 09:36 PM
The venerable mage bows, with a sweeping arm encompassing his collection.

My library is yours, Fey One.
NorthWind

09-11-07, 09:40 PM
"I thank you on behalf of Master Chant." the fairy says through gritted teeth.

"Here it is, The Obscura. As if I couldn't tell him how to raise the dead." The fairy promptly vanishes, and if it wasn't for the fact that one of Sterndrache's tomes were missing, it would be easy to forget that he had never been there. The only thing that would suggest his presence would be the smell of rain mingling with that of aged parchment.
dragor_shadowfury

09-12-07, 03:18 AM
"Although there is a risk of mistakes with any divination magic, I am fairly certain... As certain as one can get when concerning magical research and science."
EpicEvokerElf

09-13-07, 10:54 PM
Heftig turns away from Munchlord, hunching his shoulders and bowing his head. He speaks ina voice heavy with remorse, talking into his cowl.

I hope with all my heart that you are wrong. A great evil lurks there, waiting to creep in to engulf the world. If it has broken free of its bonds, the multiverse itself is in danger.
dragor_shadowfury

09-14-07, 03:11 AM
"Then it is indeed needed that we work together. What knowledge can you share about the coming danger?"
Meanwhile Munchlord think without betraying his thoughts with his face and shielding them with the most powerful anti-divination magics.
"That power could be useful indeed... I must find and allert the master at once, for I might require his aid."
EpicEvokerElf

09-14-07, 11:20 AM
Heftig whirls around faster than you thought possible for the decrepit dwarf.

None. I cannot be assured that you, having brought this here and possessed it for some time, are not in league with It. I have nothing more to say to you.

With that, he pulls a raven quill out from his inkwell and begins once again to fill in his star charts.
dragor_shadowfury

09-15-07, 06:18 AM
Munchlord looks at Sterndrache for a secondupon hearing his comment. Then, without a word, he picks forth a piece of paper and begins drawing or inscribing something on it.
EpicEvokerElf

09-17-07, 05:23 PM
An unseen hand gently lifts Munchlord and sets him down outside the observatory. The doors hiss shut, and a flicker of blue light runs over the brass dome.
dragor_shadowfury

09-18-07, 02:47 AM
Munchlord smiles and mutter to himself. "Now we can't have that."
He then scribes a rune and the cube disappear from the obervatory and reappear in Munchlord's hands. He grins to himself as it easily passes through any defences against such at the observatory. Munchlord had created the rune himself and it worked even if the object was near the spire in the outlands... as long as it was not touching it.
He then walked back to the observatory and knocked the door.
EpicEvokerElf

09-18-07, 03:09 PM
As his hand touches the dome, the blue light lashes across the brass surface and into his hand, flinging him bodily back twenty paces. Dr. Sterndrache's voice echoes across space and time to his ears.

Do not trouble me, runescribe!

Only then does Munchlord notice the cube is again missing from his hands.
dragor_shadowfury

09-19-07, 02:41 AM
Munchlord does not rise his voice at all, but somehow Sterndrache can hear it clearly.
"Although I do not know the nature of the power inside of this cube, I do know how to learn more. I can open it and let the power loose uncontrolled and I need not enter or touch it. I have placed a rune on it that gives me enough link with it to invoke runes on it at a distance. And trying to remove the rune will break the seal and open the cube. Now I suggest that you begin to treat me a little nice unless you want its power to go loose and, if what you say is true, threathen the existance of the multiverse."
EpicEvokerElf

09-19-07, 06:06 PM
He sighs heavily, the sigh of an old man whose years weigh heavily on his proverbial back.

That would be a power to be feared, except that your runes cannot penetrate the wards on my observatory (thank the stars for that). Now, if you don't show some respect for an old man's privacy and leave me in peace, I may become angry.
dragor_shadowfury

09-20-07, 02:54 AM
"I do not think you really understand... I do not care if you get angry with me at all, but you should probably consider the fact that you have insulted me heavily by throwing me out, and I am usually not one to let an insult stand... and my master whom you have insulted by extension most certainly isn't"
EpicEvokerElf

09-20-07, 07:16 PM
This bothers me not. The stars do not want but for the sky. Leave now, and you may do so intact. Fail to do so quickly, and you may never leave.
dragor_shadowfury

09-21-07, 01:57 AM
"Do not make the mistake to think that I fear you stargazer. I have faced more fearsome and powerful foes without flinching and I have come out on top every time."
EpicEvokerElf

09-21-07, 05:03 PM
He snorts derisively.

Do you know what you say? The power of the stars is beyond comprehension, even by those self-styled 'Gods' whom I understand you mistakenly worship.
dragor_shadowfury

09-22-07, 02:16 PM
"Mocking the Purple Dragon is not a wise action. I know that even the power of gods is limited, having slain more than a few myself. Trust me in that I wish not to destroy the multiverse, nor to destroy any other multiverse, after all one cannot rule what he has destroyed."
EpicEvokerElf

02-09-08, 03:54 PM
Heftig's eyes shimmer like moonlight, illuminated again with the terrible light of prophecy.

Again you talk of ruling, of destruction, of power. Know this, runescribe! You are not fit to rule! You may have power now, but there will come a time when you shall crawl upon your knees begging for a scrap of the majesty you think you now possess! Know this, and beware! Your power shall yet be your undoing!

The glow of starlight leaves his eyes then, and his frame is wracked by a spasm of coughing. His voice does not boom so much then, as he speaks again.

Go. Leave an old man in peace, runescribe. Please.

His voice cracks on the last word, and it is with a sense of finality such that it is most certainly the last word he will speak to Munchlord. He bows his head and slowly begins scratching away at his star charts again, glasses glittering in the candlelight.

"It is not for your sake, or for the sake of your begging that I leave you now, and be certain that I will return for what is as rightly mine as it is yours."
With those words Munchlord turns around and leaves the Observatory to find his master and plan.

As Munchlord leaves the Observatory, Ender Chant pushes past him and enters before the grand doors can even shut. Moth, his faery servant, becomes visible, and picks his head up from the table he had been napping on.

The magician's golden eyes flash with the light of the distant stars, and he wears a deep blue silk robe, gold turban, and gleaming scimitar at his waist.

"Look to the skies, Sterndrache! Tell me all you can see of Stella Hart -- is she safe? Where is she?!"

...whoops. Continuity error here. I forgot I made this post, so Ender now seems to be in both the Nexus and the Observatory.

Shameless retcon: Ender Chant, after dying in the IC III match, could have been raised in two different ways. Being allied with a number of supernatural powers has charmed his soul, thus, both potentialities happened, and (unbeknowest to him) he rose from the dead in two different places -- on the same timeline.
