| Sarnack Matai'11-15-03, 12:44 PM | {A brilliant flash of light accompanied by thunder... Replaced with a slightly singed and unmoving form} The half elf awoke suddenly, his body awash in blinding pain. Teeth clenched with raw will he forced his eyes to open and his head rise. White globes of light obscured his vision briefly but were replaced with a sight both relieving and strange. A mirade of colors and motion threatened to overwhelm his already befuddled brain, as did the cacophony replacing the dying ring in his ears. In sheer desperation he pulled himself into the nearest alley, almost crazed in his need for dark and quiet. He needed time to assess and analyze the situation-- to plan his next course of action. As trusty shadow enveloped him, he muttered quietly... Where am I? |
| HeavensRose11-15-03, 01:26 PM | She looks around at the source of the lightning thinking it was a bit weird. Hearing noise she walks silently over to where the source came from. Now standing before the half-elf is a cloaked figure that smells like sweet roses. If he looked down at her feet he would see she wears no shoes, underneath her feet are pink and white rose petals. Her voice softly echos out to him, "Are you alright? That lightning didn't hit you did it? It seemed to have come from nowhere...a bit odd if you ask me." |
| Sarnack Matai'11-15-03, 01:34 PM | [He glances up at the sound of her voice, responding in a rasp whisper] Not lightning. Portal. [Pulling his cloak around him he recoils further into shadow] Who are you and where am I? |
| HeavensRose11-15-03, 01:38 PM | She softly smiles, though the cloak hides it. "You, sir, are on the material plane. I am Rose, a dryad wandering and searching for new things. So, it was a portal, not lightning?" She laughs, which sounds almost like a heavenly laugh, "Forgive me for I do not know very much about portals." |
| Sarnack Matai'11-15-03, 01:44 PM | [The half elf stands slowly -- moving cautiously towards the light. He speaks softly -- a hollow whisper almost completely devoid of life] You are kind m'lady. So this land is not named Barovia? |
| HeavensRose11-15-03, 04:31 PM | She shakes her head, "No sorry sir, it is not. As a matter of fact I have never heard of the place before. Would you mind telling me about it whilest we walk to a local tavern? I would gladly pay for a meal if you would like." She lowers her hood and a soft smile could be seen. As her hood falls behind her, she flips her long silver hair out. Her hair gently rests to the middle of her back. Her skin is pale and her eyes of a deep blue color, reminding one of the ocean. Her skin color didn't hinder her beautiful looks, somehow, it only seemed to magnify it. |
| Sarnack Matai'11-15-03, 06:40 PM | [Moving gingerly into the light, the half elf lets fall his own hood. A sneer grips his face -- not born of malice, but the vicious scar stretching from just below his left ear to his upper lip] I would join thee m'lady -- but I doubt very much one of your stature would tolerate my company. Can your fey nose not smell the blood on my hands? |
| HeavensRose11-15-03, 06:43 PM | She nods, "Yes but I think there must be a reason for it and I never judge others but their smells nor looks. Everyone has a reason for what they do." She offers him another sweet smile before continuing, "Please I must insist that you join me for a meal." |
| Sarnack Matai'11-16-03, 09:45 PM | [He nods curtly] As you wish m'lady. Lead and I shall follow. |
| necrodude1611-17-03, 12:06 AM | a figure aproaches as you walk towards home rose thank goodness i found you youve been out for days and youve met a ....friend? sorry i am aramil a mage. and you are....? |
| HeavensRose11-17-03, 01:05 AM | As she starts leading him toward the town, she stops seeing someone appear in front of her. She looks at Aramil, "Forgive me sir, do I know you? I suppose you could call him a friend.... I had went to see if the lightning, which turned out to be a portal, struck him. In which I offered to pay for a meal and talk. Wait..why am I explaining this to you if I do not know you?" She shakes her head at herself then looks curiously to the man. |
| Sarnack Matai'11-17-03, 11:02 PM | {The half-elf quickly draws his hood over his head, casting his gaze slightly downward as the cloth again shadows his features. His voice still a cold rasp barely above a whisper} I am Sarnack. I have traveled dark and dangerous paths which have brought me yet again to a place that I do not know. What is this place? Who rules these lands? |
| HeavensRose11-17-03, 11:05 PM | She looks to Sarnack as he lowers his hood over his eyes. "Mind if I cut in a moment Sarnack to ask why you cover yourself? Do you fear something that may be around here?" |
| necrodude1611-18-03, 12:12 AM | your name is rose and i can see why.....you have the buety and you have the thorns ... i was told by a god to search the world for rose and you look exactly like her...:D |
| HeavensRose11-18-03, 12:18 AM | She looks to the stranger, "A god told you to find me? Why would a god do that? I am not special, or at least I do not think I am." As a light breeze floated past them and her long silvery hair gently touched her figure. Her hair moved gracefully to the side of her, it brought out her beauty even more so. Her deep blue eyes looked to the stranger as she waited for an answer. |
| necrodude1611-18-03, 12:24 AM | the god told me you would lead me to a portal and you have thank you ever so much  becoming happeir with evry word |
| HeavensRose11-18-03, 12:34 AM | She looks suspisciously to him as he seems to grow happier by the minute. "I'm glad I could be of some help to you sir. My friend here and I were on our way, I believe it is time we got going." Her voice never losing its cool, and continues to speak sweetly and softly without anger. |
| Sarnack Matai'11-18-03, 10:17 PM | [The cowled figure waits silently for the exchange to end. His whisper becomes even softer} Fear m'lady? No. I fear nothing. I feel nothing. I mask my appearance to prevent fear in others. It has been my experience that many will attempt to flee from that which they fear or try to destroy it. Those that flee provide me no information. Those that attack are they themselves consumed. |
| HeavensRose11-18-03, 10:24 PM | She nods, "I understand that." She smiles to him, "Though I ask that you not worry about that near me, for I have nothing to fear from you nor do I have a reason to flee." |
| Sarnack Matai'11-18-03, 10:47 PM | {The half-elf shifts slightly} My apologies m'lady and please do not misunderstand me. I do not conceal myself out of 'worry' for you or anyone else. I merely seek to encounter as little trouble as possible. Trust me -- analysis points to this as the best course of action and experience reinforces said. Forgive me for my limited knowledge of your race. I do not know what can and cannot harm you. I am very aware of what can harm me however -- I am merely mortal. If we encounter anyone or anything that would seek to do me harm I shall defend myself with rapid and overwhelming force as my training and conditioning dictates. This will create either corpses or enemies: the former are useless and the latter create more problems than they solve. |
| HeavensRose11-18-03, 10:54 PM | "I do not take offense of your words Sarnack. As far as what I am... a dryad. We tend to be peaceful creatures unless we are provoked into attacking. I am a rare one though, as many are not allowed to leave their trees. Mine granted me freedom in exchange I return every so often to share of my experiences. Many believe our presences inspire plants to grow, but that probably is due to our looks. However, you will rarely hear of me speak of my beauty for I wish to be treated no better and no less than anyone else." She smiles to him, "Does that shed some light on part of my race to you?" |
| Sarnack Matai'11-18-03, 11:05 PM | {The rasp whisper loses a touch of it's edge} A little m'lady. Your presence should put most that would approach more at ease. This is good. I shall follow you to our destination a pace or two behind you. This will suggest subserviance and the likelyhood of my being questioned or accosted will be signifigantly lessened. This is also desirable. What and where is our destination m'lady? |
| HeavensRose11-18-03, 11:11 PM | Again she smiles, "That is good to hear, I think. Well, our destination is the town up ahead and there in it is a small tavern. {ooc: The Flute and Boot Inn...a thread on its own} The tavern is called The Flute and Boot Inn, the people there are very friendly from what I've heard." |
| Sarnack Matai'11-18-03, 11:15 PM | {No sound is made as the half-elf falls in to his appointed place} Very well m'lady. Lead on. |
| HeavensRose11-18-03, 11:27 PM | She nods, "Okay, is there anything you'd like me to share with you while on our walk?" She sets out toward the tavern with a moderate pace. However before doing so she tucks her hair back within her cloak, then places the hood back over her head. |
| Sarnack Matai'11-19-03, 12:25 AM | {A long silence.... Broken by that same cold rasp} What would you have me share m'lady? Some things are best left unsaid. Some questions best left unanswered. Some things I do not even know. {Another pause} Know this m'lady: I am Sarnack Matai', only known survivor of the Saabahn. My name was given to me by my creators -- everything else that I have was taken from the cooling bodies of my assigned marks. I am that which my creators intended and more than they dared imagine possible. I have walked in places few mortals have tread and done things no deity should be implored to. My one and only purpose is to eliminate any and all problems my master assigns me. {The rasp stops suddenly.... Another pause broken by an almost-but-not-quite forlorn whisper} And now he too is dead. I now wander seeking new purpose.... Would m'lady like specifics? Analysis suggests that she would not. |
| HeavensRose11-19-03, 01:24 AM | She smiles, "Not unless you care to provide me with the details anyway. So, could you tell me what you are exactly?" |
| Sarnack Matai'11-20-03, 06:35 PM | {A long drawn out pause} I am a problem solver m'lady. My duties have included espionage, infiltration and thievery over the years. My primary function however is wet work. |
| necrodude1611-20-03, 11:44 PM | aramil is consumed in a bolt of lightning you here a fading voice" thankkk youuuu" |
| HeavensRose11-20-03, 11:51 PM | She looks around hearing the voice of the man, "He was strange...." She thinks on Sarnack's answer, "Wet work? You mean like work in the water and marshy areas?" It was obvious she was a bit confused on this and probably hasn't learned very many terms for things yet. Almost as if her life has been nothing but sheltered from the world. |
| Sarnack Matai'11-21-03, 04:29 PM | {His raspy voice takes on a semi - 'teacher to student' tone} 'Wet work' is slang m'lady. It refers to the killing of other beings, usually utilizing stealth. My master would provide me with varying levels of information on various enemies and I would eliminate said. {His hooded head lifts slightly, casting glances left, right and ahead} Are we nearly there m'lady? It would seem I'm suddenly very parched and hungry. |
| HeavensRose11-22-03, 12:29 AM | She nods, "Yes we shall be there within the hour." True to her words, after walking for awhile longer they soon came upon an inn with a well made sign reading, "The Flute and Boot Inn" followed by a picture of a silver flute and a pair of leather boots. {ooc: meet me at the Flute and Boot thread :) } |
