Fifty years ago, the last immediate member of the Cilsutt family--a house of minor lords native to the Highfolk region--died without leaving any obvious next of kin. Since that time, the centuries-old estate of the Cilsutts has stood entirely uncared for, and it has fallen into ruins. The sight of the setting sun throwing its crumbling walls and jagged, broken towers into sinister relief against the evening sky has inspired any number of local ghost stories and sinister tales of woe and betrayal, and given the place its new name: Black House, a monicker used to scare little children into behaving to this very day.

Only recently, a man claiming to be the descendant of a distant cousin of the family's late, last member, came to the region with claims upon the property. Eager to put the local suspicions to rest and, hopefully, shore up what had become quite an eyesore, Highfolk's officials didn't really question the man's origins or motives, and after only a cursory check into his background he was allowed to officially reclaim the building. Highfolk was instantly abuzz with rumors... all the moreso when the young man appeared again, not two days later, looking to hire a group of capable individuals to handle 'some minor difficulties' with regards to his getting settled in.

I am currently looking for a few players to pick up a homebrewed adventure of my own devising. It'll start off as a typical haunted house sort of deal, but there's a great deal more to it than what readily meets the eye. There are old secrets, terrible truths, and powerful magics to be found... if you're willing to brave the darkened halls of the Black House.

1. This game will take place here, on the WotC boards. I'm going to avoid chat if at all possible, due to the fact that it seriously restricts who can participate in the game.

2. The Black House is Greyhawk-based. Players are expected to know a little bit more about the setting than what the PHB has to tell them.

3. Dice will be done on the honor system. This will be a dice-based game, and character sheets conforming to Version 3.5. of the Dungeons & Dragons game will be required. Characters will start out at Level 1.

4. Characters may be created using the Player's Handbook, the Book of Exalted Deeds, and the class-based supplements (Sword & Fist, and those which came after it along the same vein) without question. Other sources, such as Dragon Magazine, must be run by me for approval, but the v.3.5 update issues #310 and 311 may be used without checking first.

5. No material unique to a setting other than Greyhawk may be used. This includes the Hierophant, Red Wizard, and Archmage Prestige Classes from the Dungeon Master's Guide. It doesn't matter how generic they may or may not feel.
