It all appeared one day: a dark, mysterious forest with a small cabin town inside its boundaries, abandoned except for the small, local tavern with a worn wooden sign. The sign had the picture of a red dragon around the tavern's name, The Dragon's Talon. Yet, despite its sudden appearance, it felt as if the forest and the town with its tavern had been around forever.

However ragged the tavern may look on the outside, something compels you to have to enter, to investigate the laughs and exotic scents coming from the inside. It seemed all the life that remained in the small town was held within the tavern, coming and going along with its customers. Appearances can be decieving, as you come to realize upon stepping inside.

The Dragon's Talon looks a lot bigger inside than it does outside, looking like a tavern one would find in a big city rather than a forest in the middle of nowhere. An oval-shaped bar fills up the space in the center of the room, fully stocked with a minotaur serving all types of drinks, and young maidens waiting on tables and chairs scattered about all around the room, with booths along the walls. On the opposite side of the tavern is a fiery hearth, where patrons lounge around in plush leather couches and cushions, exchanging stories and sharing drinks. A stairway in the corner leads up to the second level, where there are more tables for people looking for a quieter setting, or just want to look down upon everyone else.

To those who are keen to it, magic radiates throughout this entire area. The forest itself exists on several different planes and worlds at once, allowing interaction to take place inside the confines of the tavern. The tavern itself is heavily warded against hostile actions of any sort. The use of magic by anyone other than the tavern staff is prohibited, and impossible due to the wards. For safety reasons, certain dweomers placed around the entrance spirit away any weapons that a customer has on them, returning them only when they leave.

Darshendros strained with the spell, pulling against every fiber of his being and threatening to tear him apart. He had performed this spell many times before, but never with this many places at once. He would persevere though, he knew that much. The undead did not tire, which gave him at least that small edge of an advantage, but the spell did more than simply push the caster's physical and mental abilities to the limit. It pulled from their soul as well.

A symbol flared and burned itself into the trunk of the tree before the dracolich, who had to shed the illusion of his lively human form in order to retain as much energy as needed for the spell. More symbols flared to life upon the trees around him, burning out almost as soon as they appeared. With a sigh of relief, Darshendros dropped to the ground, feeling as if he had just flown across the world a hundred times without stopping.

"It is done," he rasped, the cold light in the dark, hollow sockets of his horned skull dimming.

Several other figures were around him, having watched the casting since its beginning. The minotaur Barriso had long been serving as the bartender for the Dragon's Talon, ever since the last one, a frost orc, had met an untimely death. Darsh favored using non-humans for bartenders. It made the drunkards think twice before starting any trouble. There were several human and elven barmaids around watching as well, along with Chaszmyr, the drow who served as his eyes and ears throughout the worlds.

The minotaur came forward, but Darsh raised his head and glared at him, causing him to take a step back. "I'll be... fine in a few... moments. Leave me be... Open up the tavern..."

Barriso nodded and brought the barmaids with him. Chaszmyr lurked in the shadows, as always.

"How many?" he asked in his whispery tone.

"Toril, Krynn, several others. I'm not sure how many, exactly," Darshendros replied. "Maybe more than I expected. Maybe not. We'll see when the customers start strolling in, and the gold starts pouring into my coffers once more."

He pushed himself up on his haunches, still looking drained. "I'll be in my lair," Darsh said, vanishing before the drow could give a reply. The drow disappeared as well, slipping into the shadows.

As the forest rooted itself into the new planes that it had just been connected to, the lamps inside the tavern were lit and the doors were opened. The Dragon's Talon was now open for business for a slew of new potential customers. Inviting music began playing from a phantom piano, filling the room with sound that spilled out through the ajar door. Barriso went to work wiping out some mugs and getting them ready for drinks to be poured into, while the barmaids lounged around and waited for customers to come in and take orders from.

As the young elf was strolling through the solitude of the forest, the flowing sound of music caught her attention. It was faint... but not far off. She bent to pick up her pack, her long earthy brown hair falling over her shoulders as she did. She swung the pack over her shoulder and curiously followed the sounds. The elf wore plain loose black pants tucked into leather boots and a button-up dark green shirt that was a little too tight. Strapped to her belt were several small sheathed daggers and around her neck were three tiny charms on a cord. She was an average elf, part sun elf and part wild elf, and was slender.

As she crept closer towards the sounds, she came upon a clearing where a lovely building sat... a tavern. A slight smirk came to her lips then. This was the last thing she expected to find out here, but it was good enough. Perhaps she might meet some interesting people... maybe adventurers!

Inspired by that thought, she continued to the door and pushed it open to slip inside. It was rather big inside, and that took her by surprise. As she gazed about the room, she was soon drawn to the hearth where she now stood.

The elf was starting to feel lighthearted once again, something that hadn't happen in a long while...

One of the barmaids lingering near the bar, a tall, petite figure with a seemingly too-perfect body, wearing naught but a string bikini with a slip of a skirt wrapped around her waist, carrying a tray in one hand. She walked over to Velwyn, hips swaying with the clip-clop of high heels on the floorboards, coming to stand near her and giving her a welcoming smile.

"Something I can get ye, my Lady?" she asked in a sweet tone.

Velwyn doesn't turn to meet her eye to eye, but remains turned towards the hearth.

"No... no, there's nothing you can get me," she speaks timidly, her eyelids fluttering down. She stays still with her eyes closed, a sudden expression of deep sorrow masking her face. It seems she had recalled something... something that she'd rather let go of as she stared at the fire, leaping flames reflected in her clear green eyes.

And in an instant the sorrow was gone, buried away again and replaced with a meek smile.

"Actually... wine... merlot, please," she requests, glancing at the scantily clad girl.

Oh... she's so lovely... I bet this tavern's a hit with the men...

They had to stay in business somehow. The barmaid gave her a smile and wrote her order on a slip of paper on her tray. "Merlot coming up, my Lady," she said before strutting back to the bar to take her order. Since she was the only patron so far, service was quick, and her glass of wine would arrive a lot quicker. As soon as it was poured, the barmaid came back to her, with the red wine gently swaying around in its glass.

"Here you go, my Lady. That'll be five coppers," the barmaid said as she placed the glass upon the small table next to her, placing a leather coaster down first for it to sit upon.

"Thank you dear," she said, slipping her more than enough coppers to pay for the drink. Velwyn glanced at her wine and held it carefully, gazing into the scarlet liquid before tipping it to her lips. It wasn't as sweet as Elven wine, but it was satisfying.

Hopefully more people would arrive soon, it was a little unnerving to be the only guest amidst all these barmaids...
