| Revlis_Nogard11-11-06, 12:18 PM | ((NOTE: PLEASE GO TO THE OOC THREAD IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN. Once you get the okay from me, you can post here. Sorry if that seems inconvenient, but I want to be sure I don't have more than say 5 or 6 PCs)) After the alliance of the Nine, the world turned dark. It seemed that in a matter of months, they had managed to subjegate almost every other kingdom on the continent of Azherna. The only reason that the other continents and kingdoms were kept out of the war for as long as they were was because of the Last Kingdoms' stand at the city of Vivex. Despite the Last Kingdoms' pleas, other continents were reluctant to join them against the Nine. Then, one day, a group of unknown heroes gathered together. Their exploits would pave the way for some of the most important events of the war, and would ultimately change the outcome of history itself. --Enialas Galonadel, from his work The Great Azhernan War, Volume VII: The Nameless Backstory: The nine kingdoms of Azherna, Dergth, Sivitir, Aquitane, Cericres, Volaren, Plust, Miilt, Livna, and Tyros, have allied together in a grand plan to take control of not only the continent of Azherna, but to eventually gain control of the entire world. The kingdoms who have not immediately surrendered to this great threat have been leveled, with no survivors to tell the tales of the atrocities that the Nine have commited. The other kingdoms of Azherna who have not fallen to the Nine have created their own alliance: The Last Kingdoms. They have been the only force that has been able to temporarily hold the ever-continuing march of the Nine. This has been accomplished through the ongoing defense of the city of Vivex, which so far has lasted eight of the twelve year war. While the Nine are slowly gaining ground, Vivex is truly a stop so that the Last Kingdoms can get aid from the other continents and races that have not yet claimed sides in the war. But so far, the efforts of the Last have been in vain. General stuff: You can pretty much play anything you want. Try to keep the power level pre-epic, but other than that, I should have no problems with what you want to play as. Just nothing overly bizarre, unless you PM me and I say it's okay. Other than that, pretty much any race and class work. Just no evil characters pretty much. Format: Actions in italics, speech in quotes, thoughts in a (readable) different colored italics |
| Revlis_Nogard11-11-06, 12:27 PM | It is a surprisingly sunny day in the normally rainy village of Terakh Mol. In Yurrik's Tavern, a well-built elf in a rather ornate yet functional uniform sits, his two swords at his side. His long brown hair is kept out of his face by a red headband with a red metal plate that reads in Dwarven "Rock you!" This is obviously not his first drink of the day, however, the alcohol has not affected the judgement of Karel Bladestorm. He watches patrons that enter to bar, looking for something in them not readily apparent to the normal eye, but obvious to a trained warrior. He is looking for new soldiers. I don't know what Garret sent me out here for...there's no one in this village worth trying to recruit. I might as well head out. As he rises, a new batch of people catch his trained eye. He takes his seat once again and watches the actions of the new strangers. |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 08:34 AM | ((I'm sorry to do this, but she's been jumping PLANES)) In a flash of smoke and a huge bang, loud enough to shatter glassware, an elf appears in the middle of the bar, cursing like a demon. She slaps her arm to put out the small fire on it and checks to see if anything in her massive collection ((the picture didn't do her junk justice) of junk. Seeing that nothing is, she looks about, puzzled. "Umm..Kitten, you know where we are?" "Noooooooooo, Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistreeeeeeeeeeeess." "Well damn." Acting as though this was an everyday occurence, she takes a seat and rests her head on her hands, thinking. |
| Revlis_Nogard11-12-06, 10:39 AM | A rather gruff and overall unfriendly half-orc behind the bar watches the spectacle. Once the smoke clears, he looks at the elf and her companion. "'Ey, you! I dunnae mind ya comin' in 'aer with all yer smokin' and cussin' and shotin', but I dunnae serve 'is kind in ma tavern! Understand?" He points directly at the elf's familiar beast. "Now, either 'e goes, or yew go!" Karel watches the bartender. In a loud, deep voice, he only speaks briefly enough to get his point across. However, his red eyes seem to flash with an inner maelstrom of rage and malice. "Yurrik...she's with me. Stop." Yurrik looks shocked for a moment and quickly returns to his business, mumbling to himself. Karel resumes watching the newly arrived elf and takes a long drink from his mug. |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 10:43 AM | Endeca looks up, absentmindedly, about five seconds after this occurs. "Wha'? Sorry, I'm sorta tired right now. I just had to flee across six layers of the Abyss and the Plane of Prancing ponies. You'd think the ponies wouldn't be as tough as the demons, but hot damn, they can get angry." She looks over at Karel. "I'm with you? Have I been here before?" "Nooooooooooo, Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiistreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeess." "Odd." ((By the way, Kitten is reading the surface thoughts of everyone in the room. Everyone.)) |
| Revlis_Nogard11-12-06, 10:53 AM | Karel looks with the same rage at the elf and her companion. "Tell your beast to stop. Just because I have a mind blank doesn't mean it's not annoying. If you do, I may have a proposition for you." |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 10:59 AM | "Oh. Sorry about that. Kitten, quit reading his mind." "Yeeeeeeeeeeees, Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistreeeeeeeeeeess." Endeca walks over to Karel. "I'm sorry about that, but Kitten's very protective of me. He does it to ensure my safety. Now, what's this about a proposition? I could use some work. I don't think Hunger will find me here for awhile yet." |
| Revlis_Nogard11-12-06, 11:08 AM | Karel gives a quiet grunt and pulls out a small piece of parchment that was wrapped around one of his sheathes. It reads: "Adventurers: Surely you have heard of the great struggle between the Last Kingdoms and the Armies of the Nine. I ask, no, beg of your assistance in helping us end the great threat to the world that the Nine present. If you truly wish to make a difference with your lives and save millions of innocents, please, tell my associate, Karel Bladestorm. (Please forgive his behavior. He has only recently joined our side and has lived most of his life in wilderness, away from civilization.) Please, help the Last Kingdoms make a difference. Your humble servant, Samuel Garret, General of the Last" Karel simply takes another drink while he watches the elf read over the note. |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 11:14 AM | Endeca reads the note, then raises an eyebrow. "The hell? I popped into the middle of a war? That's just frazzin' great. Innocents. How do I know you're the right side? What if the other guys are the right side? How can you prove that YOU are the good guys?" |
| Revlis_Nogard11-12-06, 11:23 AM | The patrons of the bar stop. Dead. No one makes a move, no one makes a noise. They all look at Endeca with a bit of disgust before going on a tangent together. "Not the good guys? Missy, the Last Kingdoms saved this village from being a pile of rubble and ash and having it's people be slaves! Or dead!" "Yeah! If it weren't for that elf you're talking to, none of us would be alive right now!" "Anyone who distrusts Samuel Garret must be working for the Nine!" "Ae new no un wit a beast like that un could be goot!" They all begin to rise and move towards Endeca. Karel also rises. "Everyone...CALM DOWN!" The everyone in the crowd again stops and moves back to their original positions. Karel also takes his seat and looks at Endeca. "I don't know. What can I do to make you trust me?" |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 11:28 AM | Endeca extingishes the fireball she had conjured as an emergency plan. "Well, before anyone thinks that I'm a mercenary, gold has nothing to do with it. But I'm new here, and history, as they say, is written by the victors. What I'd need is to speak with whoever's in charge of these 'Last Kingdoms'. Actually, I'd rather be going through his mind, but I get the feeling you people wouldn't like it. So a conversation will do." She shifts uncomfertably. "Are you, uh, always this hospitable 'round here?" "Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistreeeeeeeee eeess" "Not NOW Kitten!" "Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistreeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ss, PLEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASEEEEEEEEE." Endeca curses in no less than four different languages. "Hells, Kitten needs to eat. Umm, do you have any convicted criminals on hand? Or some goblin raiders?" |
| Revlis_Nogard11-12-06, 11:37 AM | Karel gets up and calmly walks out of the bar. Endeca sits confused for a moment, sitting alone at Karel's table. A few minutes later, Karel walks in with the head of a recently unearthed fiend that was obviously at least twice as tall as him. He throws it in front of Endeca and her familiar. "Nothin' fresh, sorry. I hope that'll do. Anyway, if you want to meet my master, I will gladly take you there. But I need to wait for a few more people to recruit from here. If you don't mind the wait." Karel gives the elf another once over and thinks to himself. Fighting this war may be more fun than I thought if all the other people I recruit look like this... |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 11:40 AM | Kitten immediately burrows into the skull. You aren't inclined to look inside. "Thanks. He gets testy when he's hungry, and then he forgets all those lessons on not hurting people I keep giving him. I'll wait around for a bit. Barman, good sir, do you happen to have feywine? Or Icegrip. Actually, I think I'd prefer Icegrip." ((Because she's an ARCTIC elf :) )) |
| Revlis_Nogard11-12-06, 11:48 AM | Yurrik looks at Endeca with a disapproving grimace. "I got seveteen difrent kinds o' Dwarvin ale and twenty seven kinds o' beer. I dinnae got none of them fancy wines ye be wantin', lass. Go somewhere else if ya want that." Karel reaches down below his seat and pulls out a small water skin. He hands it over to Endeca. "My kind has a lot of dealings with the fey. Feywine is a common drink from where I come from. And as far as Icegrip goes, if we ever go to Nadriech, you can get as much as you want there." He looks down at the skull of the departed demon as its brain is being devoured. "I'm glad that bastard did something decent with his body...even if it was after death. Trust me, he really didn't want to die." Karel resumes looking about the tavern. |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 11:51 AM | Endeca takes a grateful swig. "Gods, I forgot how good this stuff was. Now, what exactly is YOUR version of events? We appear to have nothing but time at the moment." ((Because we DO have nothing but time :) )) |
| Revlis_Nogard11-12-06, 11:53 AM | Karel looks at Endeca. "My version? Simple. The Nine attacked my forest. The Last Kingdoms helped stop them. Now, I help the Last Kingdoms. Does that work for you?" |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 11:58 AM | "Eh. Bit skimpy on details, but it works." Kitten emerges, covered in blood, from the skull. "Eeew. Kitten, go clean yourself off, geez. What have I told you about doing that?" "Yeeeeeeeeeeeees, Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistreeeeeeeeeeeeess ." |
| Revlis_Nogard11-12-06, 01:41 PM | Karel continues staring at Endeca. "I don't run into too many arctic elves outside of Nadreich or the Frostfell. What's your story?" |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 01:58 PM | "Long and complicated." Endeca takes another swig. "I suppose I should introduce myself properly. The name's Endeca Spellweaver, Chaos Mage. Grew up north of the Spine of the World, on a place called Faerun. Ran into one Lord Gareth the Cold awhile back. Ever since, I've been spending time as a gladiator in his Arena. Fun times, fun times. A week or so ago I got into a spat with a fella called Hunger, and I've been fleeing across several dimensions ever since." Kitten walks back in, clean and slightly wet. He climbs onto the table, curls up, and falls asleep. "Kitten here's been my companion for awhile. I'm trying to teach him good, but it's terribly hard when you have to eat living brains. Then there's the instincual reflex to re-animate the body, ugh." |
| Khael11-12-06, 04:27 PM | One of the strangers walking by catches Karel's eye, largely by his immense size, over 8ft tall, and nearly that in width. He stalks in battered plate, coated in spikes, with hair sticking out between plates, and a sword which must be easily larger than a normal man by it's handle, can be seen slung over one shoulder... (Kitten detects the following off him: Great pride and a want to sate his thirst, just before something shuts him off from Kitten) The immense man-thing, his attention caught by the attempted mind-reading, looks to Kitten, and strides towards Endeca, "Is it you to dares to try and open my head?" He rumbles, the smell of sulphur spilling out from him. |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 04:37 PM | Endeca looks entirely unconcerned. "Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe. What's it to you?" She takes another swig of feywine, and Kitten lets out a faint purr of contentment. "What can I do ya for?" |
| Khael11-12-06, 04:55 PM | "You can stop trying, for one." |
| Lord_Gareth11-12-06, 04:59 PM | Kitten perks his head up, glaring at the newcomer. "Whooooooooooooo diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistuuuuuuuuuuuuuur bs theeeeee Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistreeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeess?" "Great, now you p*ssed off Kitten." Endeca puts her hand on the intellect devourer's head. "It's okay Kitten, he can't hurt me. Now, sir, until you can prove, as your current attitude has not, that Kitten doesn't need to be picking through your brains, he'll continue doing it as he pleases." |
| Revlis_Nogard11-12-06, 11:04 PM | Karel looks at the huge warrior from his seat. Without moving his gaze, he grabs his two swords and leaps from his seat like a wild animal. He unsheaths them both in what seems to be an instant and begins to swing them in a random fashion, but with some unseen method with them. On his face is an expression of menace, his eyes again aglow in rage and hate. |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-13-06, 12:47 AM | The noise of the blades unsheathing creates a momentary lull in the bar's conversation. In the corner a tall, thin man turn looks up from his drink. His deep blue eyes take in the unfolding scene, and his breath mists in the air before him. Standing up, he wraps a white bearskin cloak around himself, picks up a withered staff, and strides over to Karel's table. The temprature drops rapidly as he approaches, and his white hair glistens with crystals of ice. The stranger raises a hand, and a layer of ice drapes itself over Karel. "Cool your temper, my friend. You disturbed my drinking. Now, what is the problem here?" |
| Revlis_Nogard11-13-06, 09:45 AM | Karel completely ignores the sheet of ice as it falls over him. Steam begins to form as it starts to shrink and fade away into vapor. Without removing his gaze from his target, he releases one of his swords. Despite this, the sword continues slashing madly as if Karel was still wielding it. Karel quickly extends his hand in the direction of the one responsible for the ice. A chain bursts forth from his sleeve and wraps around the man's throat. As Karel looks at his newly restrained victim, he stops. He ceases attacking, releases his chain, resheathes his swords, and takes his seat again. He unwraps two more pieces of parchment and throws them at the two new recruits. He then looks directly at the man with the blue eyes. His voice is fully of malice. "I...expect you to join us." |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-13-06, 03:48 PM | The tall man matches the stare, and his unblinking eyes seem impossibly deep. "Why? Win or lose, spring will follow winter, summer will follow spring, and the cycle will continue. If you would have my assistance, you must first convince me. So far, I am not pleased with your...introductions. Violence is not always the answer." |
| Revlis_Nogard11-13-06, 04:06 PM | Karel smiles and leans back farther in his chair. He pulls an amulet from around his neck and places it on the table before him. On it is a pair of crossed swords in front of a tree. Inscribed along the edge of the disk are the words "Aerathaelvan Maitril." Below the tree, the words "Karel Tahlavin" are engraved. "Someone as wise as yourself should know that the Nine seek to disrupt the Cycle. That's the only reason I'm involved in this. And as far as violence goes, well, it's second nature." He puts his amulet back around his neck and looks at the two possible recruits. After thinking to himself for a moment, he speaks again. "I'm not trying to convince anyone to fight a war. I'm trying to convince you to meet my new master so he can convince you." |
| Lord_Gareth11-13-06, 04:08 PM | Endeca raises an eyebrow. "That's more diplomatic than I'd expect of you. And much more subtle. I think you might know civilization better than you think you do." |
| Revlis_Nogard11-13-06, 04:14 PM | Karel pretends to ignore Endeca's compliment. He resumes staring at her. "It wasn't my plan. It was Garret's. I just want this war to be over so I can go home. Now, who is all coming with?" |
| Lord_Gareth11-13-06, 04:21 PM | "I'll come with. Partially because I might want or have to fight in this war, and partially because when you leave, these poor people might force me to fireball them, and that won't be pretty for anyone involved." Endeca tries to get up, but cringes and sits back down. "Ow. Ow. Ow. Can I lean on someone for the trip? That last plane shift took a lot out of me." |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-13-06, 04:24 PM | "I know nothing of this conflict but what you have told me. But if what you say is true, I will join you. You have my pledge." The tall man extends both hands towards Karel, grasping both of the elf's in some obscure ritual. But the meaning is clear. A promise has been made. "Call me Elm. My true name is unimportant. That will do." |
| Revlis_Nogard11-13-06, 04:51 PM | A flash of lightning and a crack of thundering from outside are followed by the patter of raindrops. Soon, a downpour can be heard outside the tavern. Citizens from the street rush into the bar to escape the new rain. Soon, the tavern is filled with people. It is now extremely noisy and chaotic, a complete opposite of what it was moments ago. "Come on. All of ya. Let's get out of here. I'm behind schedule as it-oh, fantastic." The doors of the tavern burst open as a dark skinned man in black chainmail steps in. Alongside him are two cloaked figures. All of the civilians in the bar look in horror as the man in chainmail speaks. "Karel Bladestorm! You are under arrest for 5,831 counts of murder, 735 counts of arson, and intent to fight against the Sovereign Alliance of the Ni-" The man's statement is cut short as a barstool attached to two chains makes impact with his face. As the stool shatters into splinters and the man rolls out onto the street, Karel leaps again from his seat towards the two figures. He runs across the bar and kicks one of the legs of the broken stool into the thigh muscle of one of the figures as his chains go back up into his sleeves. His swords unsheath themselves and fly after him. Grabbing them, he makes a dive out of the bar after the dark skinned man. He stands ready to face him, and shouts back into the bar to his new compatriots: "Welcome to the Army of the Last!" |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-13-06, 04:57 PM | Why must everyone be so rushed all the time? But...he's killed many people. Should I really ally with such a man? But I've made a promise. Until he proves himself unworthy, I stand by his side... Elm stands up, and strides forcefully out of the bar. He raises his hand, finger pointing at the dark man, and frost flows from his fingers. The biting cold can be felt even in the bar...as for the man wearing metal armor... |
| Revlis_Nogard11-13-06, 05:07 PM | As Elm begins to chill the air, the cloaked figure who is currently without a piece of wood in his leg throws off his cloak and raises the mace that he is holding, swinging it down at Elm with all of his might. "Do not interfere with business of the Nine!" As this occurs, the man in black chainmail begins to rise, although his body quakes from the cold around him. He raises his right hand, and his shuddering quickly stops. Steam rises from off of his armor as the raindrops make contact with it. He pulls out a small sword from his side and points it at Karel. "You had the chance to come quietly! Now, you'll return with us in a coffin!" The man throws the sword at Karel, who deflects it with a simple wave of his left sword. However, the man is already next to Karel, ramming his fists up into Karel's abdomenum(Spelling?). Karel replies to this by bashing his forehead into that of his opponent's. |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-13-06, 05:16 PM | Elm's attacker's blow suddenly goes wild, thrown off by a gust of artic wind. The tall man's hair and cloak swirl around him, as a storm of icicles and frost envelope his body. Shards of ice slash at his attacker, and the chill winds drive the breath from his body. "Can you stand before me? Winter...is upon you! Tremble before the storm!" OOC: A change in plans. Elm's thoughts will be in a different font. His voice is blue. |
| Lord_Gareth11-13-06, 06:52 PM | Endeca scowls, more annoyed than anything. "Kitten," she says lazily, "Take care of this for me." "Yeeeeeeeeeees, Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistreeeeeeeeeeeeeess." The intellect devourer rises, stretches lazily, then lashes at the chainmailed man's mind, trying to erode his will. |
| Revlis_Nogard11-13-06, 07:41 PM | The cloaked figure with the barstool leg in his thigh and his companion both step back from Elm's display of elemental power. The other patrons in the bar begin to crowd around Endeca, trying to get away from the figures in black. The man in black chainmail outside begins to hold his head, writhing in terrible pain on the ground. Karel runs up to the man, swords ready, and kicks him in the side so that he rolls onto his stomach. He raises his blades and attempts to strike at his spine, but as he strikes down, a bolt of lightning hits Karel in a cataclysm unnatural eletricity. The man gets up on his feet and extends his hand, sending destructive impulses into Kitten's mind. He then takes out a small red bead and throws it at Elm. The two men inside follow suit, throwing two similarly colored orbs at him. They begin to glow, and then erupt in an explosion of fire. |
| Lord_Gareth11-13-06, 07:43 PM | Endeca grabs Kitten, then screams out a frantic incantation. The fire passes to either side of her as the flame shield manifests. Panting, she says, "Sweet...mother...of...Chauntea...that... woulda...hurt." She collapses in a dead faint, exhausted. |
| Revlis_Nogard11-13-06, 07:51 PM | Karel rises, panting heavily, and looks at the man in black. "You...call me...a murderer. What about...all of those...civilians?" Karel charges the man. As the man readies his guard, Karel falls, sweeping out his opponent's feet. In one fluid motion, Karel rises while his opponent falls under his own weight. Karel once again lifts his swords, this time striking true into his opponent. A stream of crimson spurts out from the man as he lets out a scream of pain. "Daeldrin, can't you just stay dead for once?!" |
| Lord_Gareth11-13-06, 08:03 PM | Kitten stands on his mistress's back, crouching protectively. He hisses his ire. ((ANYONE coming within 5 feet of this woman is gonna get seriously mind-blasted. Not just, 'scramble your brains' mind blasted, 'scramble your innards' mind blasted)) |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-13-06, 10:13 PM | "Keep him dead? I think I can manage that." Elm walks serenely foward, and his personal snowstorm shrinks and spirals down until it shrouds his arm in cold. He then thrusts his arm foward, sinking his fingers into Daeldrin's open wound. Instantly the man's blood begins to freeze, breaking him apart from the inside. Elm withdraws his arm and breaks off the frozen blood caking his hand. "There. Anyone else want a taste?" |
| Revlis_Nogard11-13-06, 10:27 PM | "That wasn't what I meant, but thanks..." Karel kicks Daeldrin's body towards the two remaining opponents. As they put up there maces to block the corpse of their leader, Karel rushes behind it, sticking his blades through the body. The blades puncture and come out the other side, into the two remaining foes. As they drop to the ground, Karel laughs and rips his blades free, rending all of his victims into a bloody mess across the tavern. He picks up the bodies, walks them outside, and with a quick word, ignites them all until they are charred remains. He returns inside and begins to bark orders: "Okay, we need to get outta here. Soon. Elm, take care of the people who got hurt by those fireballs, especially Endeca. We're putting everyone here in danger if we stay here any longer..." He looks at Kitten. "If there's anything you can do to get her up, I'd do it now. We need to book." |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-13-06, 10:37 PM | Elm walks over towards the fallen and injured, and as he does, his appearance changes. His white hair grows wild and untamed, and turns a vivid green, mixed with yellow, gold, and red. His eyes shift into another spectrum, and the now golden spheres take in the damage done to the victims. His cloak thins and twists, and he now wears a simple tunic and a cloak of ivy and green leaves. "As easily said as done." He touches the gaping wounds, and they begin to close, new flesh sealing the burns and gashes. A gentle caress with his fingers is enough to heal almost all the victims, but Endeca takes a while longer. However, after a few minutes, she regains her senses. Pulling an orchid from thin air, Elm smiles, and his magic fills the delicate blossom with crystal clear water. He hands the cup to the Elf. "Drink. It will help the shock. And then we must leave." |
| Revlis_Nogard11-13-06, 10:42 PM | Karel quickly runs over to Endeca and Kitten, lifts them up, and walks with them out of the bar. He looks back into the bar. "Okay, good, we need to go. C'mon big guy, you too! Let's move!" He begins to walk away, but stops and turns around once again. "Yo Yurrik! Thanks for all the drink! I'll pay ya back when the war's done!" |
| Khael11-14-06, 04:47 AM | Cythar follows after the other, grinning inside, So they are strong ones. Good. |
| Revlis_Nogard11-14-06, 10:36 AM | "Oh, so you're finally awake, huh? Nice of you to join us! Now, come on everyone, let's move!" OOC: Sorry if that seems rude. It's just Karel's personality. He can be a pretty big ass. |
| Revlis_Nogard11-15-06, 03:04 PM | Karel once again begins to leave the town once and for all. That is, until three bolts of energy rip into his back. As he cries out in pain, he drops Kitten and Endeca on the ground. His skin turns a sickening green color as he begins to cough up large amounts of blood. Three badly charred skeletons stand, pointing small fetishes at Karel's body. The three men that Karel thought to have killed have risen again, their withered bodies now truly revealed for what they are. The one in the black chainmail speaks in a grave tone:' "You didn't think that agents of the Nine would be defeated so easily, did you, Karel? Now, prepare to die." Karel looks up at his foes, his eyes now beginning to bleed. "Damn...you..." The figures hold up their symbols once again and begin to chant in a barely audible tone. |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-15-06, 04:05 PM | "What are these abominations? Has the natural order been thrown this far out of alignment? I cannot allow that. Creatures of the netherworld, return to the earth!" Elm raises his arms dramatically, and thick vines spring up from the earth, entangling the dead and pulling them towards the ground, which opens, ready to swallow them whole and crush them to dust. |
| Khael11-15-06, 04:58 PM | "Right you do that, and I'll get these out of the way... Cyther hefts Kerel and Endeca (+ Kitten) onto his shoulders, heading away from the skeletal warriors. |
| Lord_Gareth11-16-06, 12:50 AM | Endeca's eyes flutter open, and she croaks weakly. "Sorry...for the inconvienience. That planeshift...took...a lot out...of me." She slumps, unconcious once again. |
| Revlis_Nogard11-18-06, 08:11 PM | As the ground is ripped asunder, one of the figures falls to his grinding death. However, the other two, one of which is the man in black chainmail, springs from the ground and high up into the air. Ghostly, bat-like wings keeps them aloft as they begin to rain lightning down on the village. It doesn't matter who gets striken; villagers as well as the heroes are targets of this cataclysm of electricity. However, they do seem to attack Karel insesantly. The lightning does not look normal: it has a sickening black color to it. Anything that it strikes looks as if diseased. Off in the distance, the sounds of galloping horses can be heard. Horses wearing heavy armor. OOC: Sorry for taking so long to reply. Busy couple of days. |
| cog_n_taz11-19-06, 08:29 AM | ((okay guys, my username changed cos I forgot my password and my comp went up in flames, sorry bout that.)) A blur of red and brown intercepts some of the bolts of lightning, and a crackling adamantine lance is thrown at the skeleton in the black chainmail. "you know, I don't really subscribe to the "the only good kobold is a dead one" view, so I was gonna leave you lot alone, but this is pathetic...". the figure now turns to be a red kobold in rone-studded chainmail, riding atop an unnaturally large weasel and carrying no apparent weapons. He grins, and asks "mind if I deal with this bonemeal?" With that, he leaps into the air and speaks a few words. Pieces of air from around him detach and form swords, which fly towards the abominations. He then appears to notice kitten and asks, in a slightly amused fashion: "is that really a brain on chicken legs or am I just that hungry?" |
| Lord_Gareth11-19-06, 09:30 AM | Skraal can hear a voice in his mind, and it isn't pleasant. "Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiileeeeeeeeeeeeenc eeeeeeee, liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizaaaaaaaaaard. Yooooooooooou muuuuuuuuuuust noooooooot diiiiiiiiiiiiiistuuuuuuuuuuuurb theeeeeee Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiistreeeeeeeeeeeess." |
| cog_n_taz11-19-06, 10:16 AM | "ah well, can't remember the last time I was sober anyway, nothing outta the ordinary." |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-19-06, 11:02 AM | Elm glares at his foes as his eyes turn a bright, blinding yellow. So...you think that was lightning? A storm of electricity surges from his body, engulfing the remaining soldiers in a crackling aura of energy. The ground bursts into flames and their armor glows with the power behind the attack. When the display ends, Elm glances over at the kobold, his eyes returning to their previous color. Pathetic? No, I think not. But your help is appreciated. Who are you? |
| Khael11-19-06, 12:40 PM | Cyther runs with Karel and Endeca to the nearest piece of cover, Karel's body taking the majority of the blasts for the other two. |
| cog_n_taz11-20-06, 04:01 AM | "nonono, I like not being killed by-ahem, completely friendly godlike druids, let's pretend that was directed at everyone else here..." The kobold returns to directing blades of air at the airborne skeletons. "say, this chicken brain might come in handy after all..." He picks kitten up, and communicates to its mind: "listen, think you can take one of those sacks of bonemeal up there? I know you can get through their head... no? No chance? Ah, what the heck... listen, I'll give you a biscuit if you take 'em down. ...fine, and a lizard brain, happy now? No, I'm not a lizard! Enough of this, get to work!" He throws the tiny brain at the skeletons, deflecting the bolts of lightning from its path. |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-20-06, 03:59 PM | Godlike? You flatter me. I'm no god, nor anywhere near one...and I wouldn't needlessly kill you. Many would, but Kobolds have their right to this earth as much as humanity and my kind. OOC: Godlike? Where'd that come from? |
| cog_n_taz11-20-06, 06:11 PM | ((honestly? Through using an uber-move of pure zappage:P)) |
| Revlis_Nogard11-24-06, 09:41 PM | As the remaining skeletons fall to the ground, the sounds of cavalry draw closer and closer to the village. Eventually, a host of 20 riders in gleaming white armor comes to a stop in front of the fallen. One of the riders, whose face is obscurred by his mask, speaks. "I knew we should've gotten here sooner! Karel's hurt! Someone get him on a horse, take him to the engineers. As for you folks....who are you?" |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-24-06, 11:04 PM | You may call me Elm. We were following this Karel, and were attacked by soldiers. Who are you? OOC: Cog and Taz...really? A descriptive Chain Lightning or Thunderstrike, nothing more. |
| Khael11-25-06, 07:49 AM | "We're apparently his recruits. Though last I heard no-one agreed to anything yet... And it would seem like he has enemies he doesn't deserve the worth of." |
| Lord_Gareth11-25-06, 10:03 AM | ((I hate being knocked out....)) Kitten glares at the speaker, still standing near his mistress protectively. "Whooooo areeeee yoooooooouuuuuu, huuuuuuumaaaaaan?" |
| cog_n_taz11-26-06, 12:06 AM | ((alright, well your descriptions are pretty impressive:))) "Name's skraal. Knight, kobold, and one of those responsible for grindin' some bones around here. As for the chicken brain over there, don't mind it. I hear it only eats smart brains, so you needn't worry." |
| Khael11-26-06, 05:12 AM | Kitten glares at the speaker, still standing near his mistress protectively. "Whooooo areeeee yoooooooouuuuuu, huuuuuuumaaaaaan?" OOC: Assuming thats Cyther... We can quite possibly assume either its not or Kitten's annoyed at being resisted... "Oh, I don't worry about the brain-on-legs, if it comes to it, I'd eat first." |
| Revlis_Nogard11-28-06, 04:41 PM | The rider in front dismounts off his horse, although with some difficulty as it appears that he almost falls in the process. However, he picks himself up and looks at the group. He removes his helm, revealing the face of a weathered old man with long, gray hair and a clean-cut beard. His voice is a gentle, yet intense tone. "Ah, yes, introductions would be appropriate. My name is Samuel Garret, the General of the Last. I see you've already met my associate Karel. Albrecht, take Karel down to Axl and his engineers. I believe they're setting up a hospital near here." One of the riders from the back rides up, takes Karel onto his horse and rides off without so much as a word. "Now then," Garret says, "I assume that Karel has given you some sort of idea about what exactly is going on. Now, I'll give you the full story. OOC: Just assume he's telling you all the crap I wrote in the first page. Now everyone is filled in. BIC: Now that you know our plight, who would join us?" |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-28-06, 04:53 PM | I will. I pledged my loyalty to Karel, but it carries on to his commander. However, do not make me regret my pledge. If you are lying to us in any way... But yes. I stand with you. |
| Larz_Fang11-29-06, 01:00 AM | A big, about 8 feet tall lightly purple-skinned humanoid walks along. He is dressed in green-black outfit and carries a F**kin' HUGE bastard sword and a round shield. He tries to greet the party. "Hello. I am Bakrogg. I am a mage from distant lands travelling because of the rumors of war. Who might you people be?" |
| cog_n_taz11-29-06, 04:42 AM | "eh, alright. Three things though, first: don't complain or joke about having a lizard on the team, I'm the only one allowed to do that. two: don't make me regret it, and three: I will expect pay. Otherwise...well, these swords ain't for show." |
| Larz_Fang11-29-06, 04:46 AM | The large mage looks VERY confused due to the fact that nobody seems to notice him. "Uh... hello? Don't little people and one big guy see me?" |
| Gideon_Gideonson11-29-06, 03:50 PM | Elm turns to the stranger, his skin fading to a pale blueish white. His voice is frosty and cold. Yes we see you. However, I believe we were engaged in a matter of some concern. Still, since you so rudely distracted me, I suppose you could be so kind as to tell me who and what you are? OOC: Nothing personal...just Elm's sudden mood swings. Anyway, Larz...wait a few posts before posting something like that (unless its his personality...don't know yet). Remember...things sometimes move slowly. |
| Larz_Fang11-30-06, 04:21 AM | "Well, as I tried to say before, I am Bakrogg. I am from distant lands travelling because of the rumors of war. As for what I am, I am a half-giant mage who hopes to find some adventure. You may have heard of my master, Xarius the Rebel. Also known as the 'Green Sorcerer'. You are adventurers, aren't you?" |
| Khael11-30-06, 03:45 PM | "I've always taken the titles of mercenary or planes-drifter my-self. But that is besides the point. I stand with the wyrmkin on the matter of our joining your cause. Except for the lizard joke part." |
| Larz_Fang12-01-06, 03:02 AM | The half-giant smiles contently. "If you are indeed adventurers, I wish to join your cause too. It has been too long since I got to taste some excitement. I offer my sword and magic to your party." |
| cog_n_taz12-01-06, 06:41 PM | "oh very nice. So which attitude am I gonna get here eh? Kobolds-Are-Evil-Kill-Them-All, Oh-look-it's-a-Kobold-Let's-Laugh-Our-heads-off? And I'm not even getting near the whole matter of kids thinking that kobolds are cute...damn biscuits." |
| Larz_Fang12-02-06, 08:31 AM | "Hey, lookee! It's a small, bitter lizardman! How are you doing, little buddy? Hehehehee! Kobolds are so funny people." |
| Revlis_Nogard12-02-06, 12:12 PM | Garret looks with a little bit of boredom. "Well, that's good and all. Happy to have you all onboard! Now, I'd like to introduce you to a few people. You already know Karel, but I'd like you to meet Axl. Then, I'll give you your first assignment. Now, if you would all come this way, I'm sure we have some fresh horses for you." |
| Khael12-02-06, 03:38 PM | At Garret's words Cyther gives a disbeliving grunt att he horses comment... "I expect I'll have to walk if you don't have a cart." |
| Larz_Fang12-02-06, 03:52 PM | "Yea, a cart would be nice to have" |
| Gideon_Gideonson12-02-06, 11:03 PM | Elm looks sideways at Cyther. So...you don't like to walk? Easily solved. His form twists and expands, and his skin grows a thick layer of heavy white fur, until a giant polar bear stands where Elm once stood. It pads heavily over to Cyther, and looks at him intelligently. There. Get on, if you can ride. We'll move faster. |
| Khael12-03-06, 10:26 AM | OOC: What he was refering to is the fact if he tries riding a horse it's liable to break it's back under his weight (Over 700lbs by rules at low-level)... "Very well then" So saying Cyther procedes to mount himself on the druid's back. |
| Revlis_Nogard12-03-06, 04:08 PM | "Ah, good then. Onward to hospital." After about an hour of riding through charred forest, still heavy with the smell of decaying ad burning flesh, you all come to a small group of tents and pavillions, surrounded by a makeshift fence. The people in and around the cluster are all hard at work, putting materials together and constructing additional buildings. Everyone is in a tremendous hurry. The sounds of one man shouting around can be heard. As you dismount and proceed through the fence's gate, a short man with frizzy red hair walks out to greet you. In his mouth is a hand rolled cigarette. His right leg and arm seem to be made out of metal. "Yeah, what the hell do you all want?" Garret steps forward and takes the man aside. After the two finish what appear to be arguing, they both return. The man with the cigarette speaks again. "...Hey. The name's Axl. Dersess. I'll be briefing you all on your first mission, as soon as I get that elven piece of trash up and running again." He looks over at Endeca, pulls out a scroll from seemingly nowhere, and chants a few words. "Remove fatigue should do the trick there." |
| cog_n_taz12-04-06, 12:18 AM | Skraal looks amused. "so, for a change someone realizes the truth eh? Kobolds aren't as bad as elves, well well... say, what do you mean our first mission?" |
| Larz_Fang12-04-06, 01:36 AM | OOC: Bakrogg is about 8'3'' tall, but even he weighs only 586 lbs. Cyther must be bigger then, right? Well, I don't think the horses would like to carry either of us. BIC: "Yeah, what is our first mission?" |
| Revlis_Nogard12-07-06, 02:34 PM | Axl looks as Garret and his host of riders exit. He spits out his cigarette, takes out another, lights it, and puts it in his mouth. "Your first mission is a relatively simple one, but important nonetheless. Since you are our newest batch of troops, odds are, the enemy's not gonna know to look for you. Therefore, we need you guys to infiltrate enemy territory and meet up with one of our contacts, take his notes and information about the enemy, and report it all back to here. What do you think? Can you spoiled brats handle that?" |
| Larz_Fang12-08-06, 03:12 AM | Immediately when Axl finishes speaking, Bakrogg stands at salute. "Yes, sir!" |
| cog_n_taz12-09-06, 03:22 AM | Skraal slaps bakrogg on the head. "Idiot, how long have you been ripped off for? Look buddy, I ain't working for free, 'cause unlike Bakrogg here, I have a brain and, well... sure, I do charity, but not the kind that might get me killed." |
| Larz_Fang12-09-06, 08:38 AM | "Ow! Don't you even dare to slap me again, puny lizard! I don't carry this sword here just for the show! I was going to ask how much we get paid, you know. I'm not so stupid that I don't ask payment!" OOC: Umm... how can a kobold who is under 3 feet tall slap a 8 feet 3 inch tall half-giant to the head? |
| cog_n_taz12-09-06, 10:04 PM | ((psionics are your friend:P)) The kobold laughs, "yeah right, I'm sure you were going to... so, what's the pay?" |
| Gideon_Gideonson12-10-06, 07:13 PM | "More importantly, were are we going?" "And, incidentally, if you ever call me a spoiled brat again, I'll leave your frozen corpse for the birds to pick apart." Elm's voice calms back down to its normal tone. "So...where are we going? And what is this man's name and appearance?" |
| cog_n_taz12-11-06, 08:14 AM | "he has a point, I want some answers. As for the spoiled brat comment, I go with what his tallness said, except I won't be as kind..."He flashes a reptilian grin, and awaits his answers. |
