| WizO_Autumn03-02-06, 08:31 PM | The Optimization Challenge board is a place for theoretical optimization. Any thread or discussion that focuses on non-playable characters, or tricks using classes, races, feats, spells, skills and rules for the sake of increased power and rules bending (while still staying within the rules) belongs on the Optimization Challenge Board The Character Optimization Board is a place to post playable character builds for community review/ assistance. Questions and comments that support creating playable builds also belong on the Character Optimization Board. Please see the thread Moving threads here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=597332) on ways to help get thread sorted into their appropriate place. Also- to exemplify what threads belong here, a new thread will regularly be chosen as a Highlighted Thread and be stickied for a period of time. To nominate a thread for "highlation", report it, and put in the message "OC Highlighted Thread Nomination" with the reason why you think the thread deserves a (temporary) sticky spot. Previous message: Optimization has 2 functions- 1) to make optimized characters designed for play and 2) to see how powerful you can get while still staying within the rules. This board is for the latter. If you are challenging rules in order to make a character, leave it on the main board. This board is for discussion on rules, classes, feats, spells etc. Check out the thread Moving Threads here on information for... well, moving threads here. Break it all! |
| Epic_Meepo03-06-06, 02:20 PM | Thanks to whomever is responsible for creating this new board. It's nice to be able to tell in advance whether a thread is an optimization challenge that tests the limits of the rules or just ordinary optimization advice that is more likely to see use in an actual game. |
| PhaedrusXY07-04-06, 07:32 PM | Which board do the "compilation" type threads belong on, such as the Alter Self thread I started a long time ago? They are really more for practical optimization than for "pushing the envelope", at least that's the way I always thought of them. I know alot of them are linked in the Optimization Library, and hence people should be able to follow links to them wherever they are. I am just wondering about the logic used in moving some of them. I also still see some threads of this type on the "old" board. |
| Tleilaxu_Ghola01-24-07, 12:57 AM | You know what, I'll be damned if my current project (the Ghola Character) goes under due the lack of traffic on these boards. Per your definition here, the following threads of mine should be moved here: Legion, Omnipotent Trinity, Technicolor Mage, Arcane Nova, Dirty Trick #5, Crusader Recovery Mechanic, Fun with Statistics, Temporal Workshop, ToB Tricks & Combos, Mindswitch I'm all in or not in at all. |
| Tleilaxu_Ghola02-01-07, 12:36 AM | W00t! New board name! |
| Bill Bisco: Average Adventurer02-01-07, 10:26 AM | Yeup Yeup. Now we just need to get this board as a Sub Forum for Char Op |
| HaikenEdge02-01-07, 12:17 PM | TO, instead of OC, eh? We went from a being a television show to an attention-***** football player. =) |
| The_Mad_Linguist02-01-07, 04:42 PM | Since the forum's name has been changed, this thread's name should be changed. |
| Autumn_serene04-30-08, 12:15 AM | So the decision was made, and the d20 Design boards were essentially eliminated. There will be 1 Character Optimization board, but the rest got the ax. There are exciting things on the horizon, but if you are still interested in Theoretical Optimization, I have an alternative. Visit http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/ - there are boards that can house these topics so Gleemax can make way for the new WotC products to come. Play like you have to. |
| awaken_D_M_golem05-01-08, 05:47 PM | So ... this board is gonna get re-folded back into the CO-board, Yes ??? You know that'll let a short blast of Commoners get their grubby mits on Pun-Pun. Is the CO-board gonna stick around ??? |
| JWT06-09-08, 11:40 AM | Will we get a TO board for 4th Ed? |
