This popped up on the news ---> news link (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17862138/)

Ok , so you read it and realize that regular D&D takes way Way WAY too much time.
So , is the TO Board a secret development project ?!

And would this make D&D more palatable to time pressed suburbanites, and their HarryPotter-esque kids ?

If TO was a secret development project, it might explain the increase in game breaking supplements of late...

see, what we need for speed DND is a telepathic link with a HUD die roller and character generator, so that you can really see what your DM is invisioning without wasting the time for description, and actions at the speed of thought

Seeing as it took me an hour just to understand the first page of "The Ghola Character", I don't think that TO is making DnD go any faster.

However, the newly released DnD 4.0 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_Fools'_Day) (which is not being developed by the TO boards) promises much faster gameplay.

sadly enough the hoax that WotC pulled a couple years ago announcing the release of 4.0 wasn't in the Wiki

Belive it or not, I wasn't trying to post an April Fools.
That link on the OP is a real news article, in almost every major newspaper.

Amen.

Consider the Deck of Many Things - Comet card.

If instead of "slogging" through an entire 13.333 encounters to gain a level,
you just needed 1 monster within 1 encounter.
Retreat would be part of a players vocabulary again.
And it'd be a very low treasure + very low gear game.

"I slayed the dragon !"
"OK , you can marry my daughter"

We realize that the news article wasn't an April Fools. However, your belief that TO is helping to develop a "faster" DnD definitely is an April Fool's joke.
