| Traveler01-18-04, 01:39 PM | (OOC: This is the thread for Alighan, Varnevian and Raphael. This is not open to the general public. However, should you read this and can think of a really good reason why your char might be involved, please email me at dahlell83@juno.com. Random posts will be ignored as spam.) Alighan led Varnevian and Raphael down out of her tower and into the cool starry night. "Raphael, I am interested to know more about your will and word. I believe I have heard of such things before..." She said, leading them toward the vale's edge. |
| Rapheal01-18-04, 01:55 PM | Rapheal shrugs his shoulders and says "Well it's fairly simple I picture what I want in my head, gather energy, and make it a reality. I can do basically anythig this way, from creat a flower to change my own shape." Rapheal closes his eyes briefly and seems to mumble something under his breath. A rose appears in his hand. He hands it to Alighan. "It's pretty simple to use, but does have limitations. One I can't undo anything. Saying "Be not" or anything else that would cause something to not exsist will turn the power back on me and cause me to not exsist. Second is that in order to do these things I have to pull energy from everything around me. But this can cause problems if someone else is casting a spell or anything else that uses large amounts of energy, I will get an bad backlash of power that can cause my work to not go right, or even throw me a good distance from where I am standing. Makes for some bad headaches. But advantage to this style is I don't have to memorize spells from a book everytime I do something and it makes my average recovery time from most spells much faster then most others. There are a few that take a lot of energy out of me, but I try not to use them unless I have to." Rapheal pauses here in his explination and looks up at the stars as he follows Alighan out of the vale. |
| Traveler01-18-04, 11:00 PM | (OOC: Yay Eddings! :D ) "So you said before... It is very intersting. I would caution you though. That type of power tends to work not very well on this particular plane." She shot him an apologetic look. "The gods are like that. Small things..." She smiled at the rose appreciatively, " are no issue. But in the heat of...things we may face, I'd advise againt it." She was leading them up a fairly steep hillside and along no discernable path. There was no sign of the path any had followed in. |
| Rapheal01-18-04, 11:21 PM | Rapheal nods his head in consent. "I will take your advice to heart my lady. I have ran across sevral plains with this particular problem, I know who to deal with it. Aldur* can not watch over all his disciples at once." He follows closely. ((OOC: *= It's been so long since I read the book that I forgot the name of the new god... :embarrass )) |
| Traveler01-20-04, 11:49 AM | "A common hazard for we who both serve gods and walk the planes I suppose," she said with something like a grin. She led them on until further ascent seemed only possible by steep slope of sharp rocks. "Rock fall again," she muttered. |
| Varnevian D'Saer01-28-04, 11:44 PM | (( my deepest apologies to all, I somehow missed the change in thread titles!)) Varnevian listened with great interest to Raphael's explanation of his spell-casting style, but otherwise remained silent as they trudged along the seemingly endless slope. The expression on his face spoke volumes, however, when they reached the rock fall. He turned to Alighan and spoke with dry humour. "Dearest lady, are we yet out of range of that very restricting spell of yours that prevents easier travel? If so, may I suggest giving me a good description of our destination and perhaps we may avoid further discomfort?" He balances on one leg to pull off his boot and shake out a couple of pebbles that had managed to work their way in, then sighs with relief as he replaces the footgear. |
| Rapheal01-29-04, 08:57 AM | Rapheal says nothing else as they move to the rock fall. When they get there he leans up against one of the rocks with his arms crossed as he looks down into the valley, almost like he's memorizing the sight, and waits to see which way they go now. |
| Traveler01-29-04, 12:01 PM | Alighan smiled sympathetically. "Aiy Varnevian...the spell does make things inconvenient to travelers. That is why there are so few. "This is more to the benefit of this place in general, but I am sorry... The city of Weatherhaven is nestled on the farside of the mountain. When we get there, easier modes of travel will be possible again." She studied the rocky slope. "If we take this carefully, we should be allright." She nodded as if satisfied with something and then led them on. "Follow my steps," she said. "The path is less than intuitive." She rolled her eyes at that as she walked. |
| Rapheal01-29-04, 12:55 PM | Rapheal follows Alighan up the slope, but not her exact path. He eyes the slope for a minute or so the starts walking up it, sometimes in her path, sometimes off to the side, but always slightly behind her. ((OOC: He's part wolf, climbing slightly difficult slopes is a little easier for him then most. Unless you need him to follow directly behind you, then I'll change the post.)) |
| Varnevian D'Saer01-29-04, 04:27 PM | He eyes the slope with mingled distaste and distrust, then sighs deeply and follows Alighan, muttering to himself: "This was not part of the job description, you know? Danger, yes... long treks in the wilderness on little sleep without adequate refreshment? I might have thought better of your offer had I known... " But he chuckles low as he sees the ease with which Raphael tackles the climb. |
| Traveler01-31-04, 08:21 PM | Alighan grinned. "It's not my fault you didn't eat before you came. Relax it isn't as bad as it looks," she said seeming to find the walk as easy as walking across a meadow. "When we get to Weatherhaven there will be a tavern on the main road near the gate. The food there is excellent and the drink...well let us say that were this city any better known it may well have too much business." |
| Varnevian D'Saer02-05-04, 12:45 PM | Varnevian chuckles even more and stops to bow to Alighan. "Milady, I thank you! for I will keep this tavern in my mind and with that promise this tedious journey of treacherous footing will become no more than a delightful afternoon's stroll... " He eyes her easy walking pace. "... as you already seem to find it." With a barely repressed and so still noticeable sigh, he continues to follow the others. |
| Traveler02-05-04, 06:05 PM | She laughed. "I'm used to it, I suppose." Before long they found themselves at the top of a ridge with a narrow but mostly smooth path winding down from it. The mountain was nearly bare on this side. A lone tree clung to the steep slope here and there, but the rest was jagged rocks...and a high walled city. It's lights shone in against the night sky. |
| Rapheal02-05-04, 07:40 PM | Looking at the high walled city, Rapheal pulls the hood of his cloak up to cover his ears. "I assume this is Weatherhaven." He says this more as a statement as he contuniues to follow Alighan. |
| Varnevian D'Saer02-07-04, 10:48 AM | For all his grumbling, Varnevian seemed to have no lack of breath as he crested the top of the ridge. But he grinned in appreciation of the promised city. "Ah, civilization again! You have led us from the wilderness, milady, and I'll treat you to whatever you wish in this tavern in return!" With a lighter step, he follows her. |
| Traveler02-09-04, 01:29 AM | The city's back gate, the North gate as some called it, was closed but at a rapping of the wizards staff upon the barbican window sill, the grate began to turn. The Night Watch bowed to Alighan respectfully as the party entered the city. They did not ask questions. The tavern was indeed right inside the back gate. It was a brightly lit building, just before the rows of closed shops. Faint music, and the sound of laughter and loud chatter wafted out to them. "When we go in there, listen well..." she told them soflty. "This is our first gathering point for information. Listen specifically for contracts being made and pay special attention to people for foreign lands." With that, she led them in. |
| Rapheal02-10-04, 12:11 PM | As they walk into the tavern Rapheal flicks his hands out, adjusting his travlers cloak ever so slightly to cover his tail. He looks around the room from under his hood, taking in every detail of this tavern. He spots a corner table near the back and indicates it to the others with a slight nod of his head. "Prehaps that is the best place for what we are trying to achieve yes?" He says in a low voice. |
| Traveler02-10-04, 03:33 PM | She smiled appreciatively and nodded, walking that way herself. Even as they sat down...the tavern keep himslef was headed their way. "What can I offer you all tonight?" He asked in a freindly tone and then began a list of hearty foods and choice drinks... |
| Varnevian D'Saer02-11-04, 08:39 PM | He looks on in amusement as Alighan's rapping allows them in past the shut gates. "You are that well known here? A good thing that we travel with you, milady." Varnevian keeps his eyes open as they enter the tavern, noting in a sweeping but seemingly casual glance those that might be of interest to their mission. He sends a friendly grin to the barkeep. "Proper manners says the lady should choose her meal first, good sir. And I, for one, am willing to let her choose for all of us, trusting to her recommendation. But for drink I will leave it up to you instead, for you know what ales are now in stock and which have suffered least from transportation or other affront. Whatever ale you think best represents your tavern." While the others talk, he takes careful note not only of those that might interest them, but of those that seemed overly interested in Alighan and her companions. |
| Traveler02-17-04, 12:27 PM | As Alighan orders food for her small party... Varnevian does not notice anyone paying particular attention to them...but there is one pointedly not paying attention, a red cloaked woman who seems specifically to avoid looking their way. |
| Rapheal02-17-04, 01:34 PM | Rapheal just nods his consent to whatever Alighan orders. ((OOC: I'm assuming Rapheal is sitting oppisite of Varnevian and there fore can only see the door.)) As they await there order Rapheal keeps on eye on the door in case trouble seems to walk in. He's also listening for anything that may trigger him to an conversation worth listening to. While doing this he asks. "Alighan, just how well known are you here? " |
| Varnevian D'Saer02-24-04, 08:22 PM | The ale is good indeed and Varnevian finishes the mug quickly. He grins at the other two. "Now that's worth the travel! But so much travel does build a thirst, so if you'll excuse me, I'll bring back another to go with the meal. Anyone else? No? Then I'll be back the sooner." Pushing back the chair, he gets up and walks over to the bar. On the way back, the care he's taking of the refilled mug seems to make it awkward to put the change back in his pouch and some coins are dropped and roll away in a perhaps unexpected pattern. Varnevian bends to retrieve them and then smiles up at the red-cloaked woman at whose feet they ended their journey. "My apologies, milady, I seem to be on the clumsy side tonight." |
