I've been itching to run a game, not necessarily a specific animu, but one that uses anime-inspired themes, like how magic works, classes, and whatnot. I have an idea... * Magic Variant from Unearthed Arcana: Spell point system. SP is awesome and probably more accurately reflects magic in anime. Alternatively, replace magic with Psionics, because that makes sense too (i.e. A Lv. 20 Psion using a fully augmented/maximized Energy Wave sounds a lot like a Nanoha-verse magics like Divine Buster, Starlight Breaker, or Trident Smasher, does it not? BEAM CANNONS FTW) * Replace fighters with Warblades, monks with Swordsages, and Paladins with Crusaders as base classes. Tome of Battle is pretty much anime-style attacks anyway (besides, "FIVE SHADOW CREEPING ICE ENERVATION STRIKE" sounds like it was ripped from Fate/Stay Night or something.) * ...lol factor: The requirement that your character has to shout out the name of his/her attack before/while doing it. (see FSCIES above). * Anime references everywhere; enemy constructs that resemble Zakus, a boss character that might as well be Sesshomaru, the characters using something like the Gurren-Lagann, etc. etc.) * On that note, Mecha! If someone can BS mecha rules that don't suck, that would be awesome (if all else fails, rip out the Mecha Pilot base class from Mecha d20 and make it less like the BESM d20). * A fantasy setting is out; I'd want to do something set in an alternate modern world using the fantasy classes and some altered skill sets. |

| Kagerou08-04-07, 04:00 AM | In the Nano-verse, magic is performed by using devices (i.e. Items of Power or foci) of the Intelligent, Armed, Storage, or Unison variety (though the 3rd Season StrikerS introduced Boost Devices). To actually do the spell, one has to perform some sort of mathematical equation in his/her head as well as some sort of incantation. For example, if the title character Takamachi Nanoha (using BESM d20, a 15th level Magical Girl) wants to cast Starlight Breaker, she'd not only do a formula in her head, but she would also have to focus her energy within Raging Heart (her device) in its Excelion form, and also chant the following incantation: "I summon the light of destruction upon my prisoners. Stars gather, and become the light that pierces all. Tear through everything in a blaze of light. Starlight Breaker!" *ahem* I don't have a set idea yet. I currently have three options: * The one from before. Alternate modern world using fantasy-based classes (Using the D&D rulebooks). The story would revolve around the characters trying to stop a century-long war from continuing. * A cyberpunk/post-modern setting with a dark theme, using the d20 Modern rules. This campaign would be something along the lines of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Witch Hunter Robin, or even Hellsing. *A catchall third theme that incorporates the BESM d20 rules. The characters, agents of an Outer Plane administration that spans the planes, with the mission to prevent the spread of the Lower Planes and to ensure the safety of citizens everywhere... especially the Prime Material, as the humanoid races spread from Earth and venture the stars. |

Once again ( :P ) Nanoha goes from being fairly light hearted to pretty dark in the span of an episode. Depending on who wants what, I'll be willing to do just about anything. |

The anime section of the site seems to be having the least true roleplayers, but maybe that's just me. |

Which I'd be interested in both :D Currently there are a lot of animes i'd like to rp in, like Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy BeBop (Not really a DnD setting, but w/e), Inuyasha, Bleach, Naruto, and Tattoon Masters (Please tell me some one here has seen it) would be cool places to have a game. Just make sure you LET ME KNOW!!! which one you're planning on running, and when you would want to meet, and what time zone you're in. |

Well, I'm not running it. I'm having enough problems with my game in real life :P But for rules wise, just run regular DnD. Just change the special effects of whatever you want to fit whatever. Maybe change some slight things with the rules, but keep it basically the same. And this is to wolf_fighter. What kind of internet problems are you having? |

| SharpShot199011-10-07, 02:49 PM | well samurai 7 is briefly a story about kanna village being used for producing rice for the bandits and leaving kanna village with very little rice, so they sent out a water priestess to gather samurai and she came back with 7 samurai (hence the name samurai 7) and when the samurai returned to kanna village they prepared for a war (which 1 time they made a crossbow/balista which was the size of the town and it was BIG) and after the war 4 out of the 7 died and 1 out of the 7 quit the samurai way, the rest continued their life as samurai. that explain it all? |

I can play on sunday nights, or on weeknights late at night. I don't get home from school till 10pm (Mountain time in Colorado), so I can't paly till night. So we're going with a regular oriental adventures game? Sounds cool, can I get a list of everything that is allowed so I can start coming up with a character? |
