| JDunk04-10-07, 10:38 PM | What genre? Military, superheroes, horror, crime? d20 Silver Age Sentinels has some interesting ideas for pulp superheroes (the time frame you are interested in); for a military adventure I would recommend d20 Modern and a couple of good books (both fiction and historical; for WWI I recommend BG S.L.A. Marshall's book World War One and Robert K. Massie's Dreadnought for the historical side, and Erik M. Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front and Ernest Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms for the fictional aspect; some of the episodes of 'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles' works well as well). For WWII, I recommend Arthur H. Sulzberger's World War Two history; fiction-wise, if you can find it the old TSR Marvel Super-Heroes RPG had an adventure titled All This and World War Too. For the period between the wars, the old Doc Savage books and reprints of the old Bob Kane Batman comic books give a good feel for the pulp superhero stories. Just my opinion. |
