| blue_ghost1109-02-07, 11:58 PM | I was thinking of converting some of the characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG into the D20 system, and I was wondering how much support I'd get. (I'm talking about the TCG, not the anime. Sorry, I didn't really know where to put this thread.) I don't think there is really an all-encompassing formula for translating all the cards, so I'd have to take them case-by-case. And obviously it's impossible to translate every card in the game, so I'm going for some of the more popular and commonly seen. I've come up with a general formula for calculating an appropriate CR for the monsters, but not any of their actual stats. My formula is this: CR = ATK/400 + DEF/200 + LV - 8 If anyone else has a formula that works better, please suggest it. I don't know if I really have the dedication to follow through on this project, but I'm wondering if anyone here will support me. I would appreciate any contributions and/or suggestions. |

In the (non-canonical) Capsule Monsters arc of the anime, they seem to be mortal enemies. http://www.yugioh-cards.net/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/promo/huge/SD09-ENSS1.jpghttp://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/5462/2h/mikeloda.safeshopper.com/images/p0kzhv9.jpg |
| SkippyDawg2509-09-07, 05:36 PM | I'm not a fan of Yugioh, but I'd like to see more on this ^_^! I can always use STUFF. |
| dr0wwarr10r09-10-07, 01:20 PM | monster manua has a section on creating mosters right? so just se that. or if someone not as lazy as meself wants to track down a monster generator. i'm actuall inspired to comment on the anime aspect of it. it's based on "shadow powers" (no i'm not including the GX series, which sucks) which are present in all persons, but those strong in shadow powers can summon pockets of the shadow realm (with the aid of the melenium items (rare masterwork wonderous magical item) and subsequently summon monsters to duel and banish the losers soul to the shadow realm |
| blue_ghost1109-20-07, 09:46 PM | I didn't know if anyone was intererested in the project, so I didn't do much on it. But since a few people have replied, I guess I'll continue with it. By the way, the core rulebooks are my only resource. I hope you can live with that. I'm not very experienced at this kind of design, but I'll try my best. Here's my first creation. Please tell me what you think. Jinzohttp://www.yugioh-cards.net/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/psv/PSV-000.jpg Medium Construct (Evil, Extraplanar, Lawful) Hit Dice: 15d10+20 (102 hp) Initiative: +2 Speed: 30 ft. However, his programming was corrupted, and he now resides on the Material Plane, where he seeks to spread corruption and destruction. COMBAT Jinzo disdains physical combat, preferring to use his psionic powers as a mental exercise. He uses his psionic powers to seed confusion among his foes. Jinzo’s natural weapons, as well as any weapons he wields, are treated as lawful- and evil-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. Mind Blast (Sp): As a standard action, Jinzo can produce a wave of debilitating mental energy in a cone 60 feet long. Anyone caught in the mind blast must succeed on a DC 26 Will save or be stunned for 3d4 rounds. The save DC is Intelligence-based and includes the Ability Focus feat. Psionics (Sp): At will—charm person(DC 18), confusion(DC 22), disguise self, fear(DC 22), hold person(DC 21), invisibility, magic missile, mirror image, suggestion(DC 22); 1/day—dominate person(DC 23), hold monster(DC 23), improved invisibility. Caster level 15th. The save DCs are Intelligence-based. Vampiric Touch (Su): As a melee touch attack, Jinzo can steal life force from its victim, as the vampiric touch spell (caster level 15th). Knowledge Base (Ex): Jinzo’s programming includes a huge knowledge database. He makes all Knowledge checks as if he was trained, and has a +25 racial bonus on all Knowledge checks. Perfect Sight(Su): Jinzo can see perfectly in any condition. His vision is not affected at all by darkness or lighting conditions. He also has a constant true seeing effect. This effect can be dispelled, but Jinzo can resume it on his turn as a free action. Psionic Defense (Sp): Jinzo can deflect enemy attacks with the power of his mind. He gains a deflection bonus to AC equal to his Intelligence modifier as long as he is conscious. Regeneration: Jinzo takes normal damage from weapons that are both chaotic- and good-aligned, and from spells with either the chaotic or good descriptor. Yes, I based him largely on the Kolyarut. That was the easiest way to go. PEACH, please. Are there any suggestions or requests? If not, I'll just continue making these in no particular order. |
| ArgulFraster09-22-07, 02:49 PM | Jinzo's not a construct though, so far as I know. He's a powerful cyborg psychic. Unless you're using rules similar to that of a half-golem, in which case it's perfectly justifiable. Bahamut would be a Blue Eyes Ultimate if anything. Just add/remove the required heads. |

| ArgulFraster10-01-07, 03:35 PM | BESD is most likely a Living Contstruct. |
| Prime3210-02-07, 01:59 PM | I just realised... why the hell doesn't Jinzo have trapfinding? |
