| Maliseth Tyranis03-22-06, 11:21 AM | Here is my concept. I'm making a good character in a primarily Evil party. His job is to mix in with these people and pretend to be one of them the best he can. My Dm likes this idea and it is a secret between us and he is very lenient with the way I am designing this guy. Like for instance some requirements are ignored like Alignments and a few other things. My main goal is to bring two of the evil guys to justice but I will end up staying with them to try and bring down everyone eventually. I am able to use almost every book and Dragon Magazine. We use a 40pt buy system for stats. We use Unearthed Arcana for Defense,Variant class and Flaws. First build I have in mind is the one someone from these boards came up with. Monk(passive way)6/Paladin2/Apostle of Peace2/SacredFist10 (This build is fairly straight foward. The second build is one I came up with and the one I think I may like the best. Human Str-16(18) Dex-15(16) Con-8 Int-16(18) Wis-10 Cha-16 1st Level (1) Monk(passive way) IUS(monk),Combat Exp(monk),Carmendine Monk(flaw),Faerie Mysteries Initiate(flaw), Way of the Crane(human), Combat Reflexes(1st level) 2nd Level (1) OA Samurai Ancestral Daisho 3rd Level (1) OA Ninja Dodge(ninja), WF: Unarmed(3rdlevel) 4th Level (2) Monk(passive way) Improved Trip(monk) 5th Level (2) OA Samurai Mobility(Samurai) 6th Level (1) Shou Disciple Improved initiative(6th Level) 7th Level (2) Shou Disciple WF: Katana(Shou) 8th Level (1) Iaijutsu Master Weapon Finesse: Katana(Iaijutsu Master) 9th Level (2) Iaijutsu Master Iron Will(9th level) 10th Level (1) Holy Liberator 11th Level (1) Blade Dancer 12th Level (3) Iaijutsu Master Mercurial Strike (12th Level) 13th Level (4) Iaijutsu Master Spring Attack(Iaijutsu Master) 14th Level (5) Iaijutsu Master 15th Level (2) Holy Liberator 15th Level Feat? 16th Level (3) Shou Disciple 17th Level (4) Shou Disciple Bonus Feat? 18th Level (5) Shou Disciple 18th Level Feat? 19th Level (6) Iaijutsu Master 20th Level (7) Iaijutsu Master Is this a good build? Like I said ignore the alignment restrictions and also ignore the rule about leaving Monk and then going back. If there is anyway you see to make it better, let me know. I plan on keeping Bluff as high as I can and also keep Iaijutsu Focus Maxed. My Dm and I come up with a weapon that is a Spear with a hook on the end that I will use and it will have reach and can also be used to make trip attacks but just counts as a spear Weap Prof. wise. Any feedback is appreciated. |

Well, I'm not so much worried about breaking any of the vows with the first build because I can do those.....just do non-lethal damage, but my only worry about it is breaking my cover. Is there any way to improve my second build? |

I would be worried about breaking cover with that build, the abilities of Vow of Peace are not exactly subtle, especially considering that you can't deal lethal damage, so it's easy to test. "Here, there's no danger. Kill this rat to prove your with us." Is there any way to improve my second build? You can't qualify for Shou Disiciple before level 5, thanks to the jump requirement, so push up the second monk and samurai levels. Unless Bluff is a class skill for OA samurai, which seems out of character, you might want to take Versatile or some Human Paragon to get it as a class skill. Mercurial Strike (Dragon 310) or Flick of the Wrist(S&S), if they're available, are helpful in any IM build. Raptor School (CW) would also be a good choice. You do know that Improved Feint doesn't let you make an Iajutsu Strike, right? |

No, Samurai doesn't have Bluff as a class skill and I had thought about taking Versatile to keep Bluff maxed. Hmm, I need to read improved Feint again I guess whats keeps me from using it with Iaijutsu Focus? Does the weapon need to be drawn already? |
| Maliseth Tyranis03-22-06, 03:17 PM | Ok, now I see, using a Feint isn't the same as making them flat-footed right? |
