08-09-06, 01:55 PM Bah, beat me to it, oh well, here's the stats for it.

Size and Type: The creature's type remains the same, but it gains the earth subtype. Size is unchanged.

Speed: The mineral warrior gains a burrow speed equal to one-half the base creature's highest speed. The base creature loses its fly ability, if any.

Armor Class: Natural armor improves by +3.

Special Attacks: A mineral warrior retains all the special attacks of the base creature and also gains the earth strike ability.

Earth Strike (Ex): Once per day, the mineral warrior can make an exceptionally vicious attack against any foe that stands on stone or earth. The mineral warrior adds its Constitution bonus (if any) to its attack roll and deals 1 extra point of damage per racial Hit Die.

Special Qualities: A mineral warrior has all the special qualities of the base creature, plus the following.

Darkvision (Ex): A mineral warrior has darkvision with a range of 60 feet or the base creature's darkvision, whichever is better.

Damage Reduction (Ex): A mineral warrior gains damage reduction 8/adamantine. If it already has damage reduction, it retains both versions and uses the best one that applies.

Abilities: Change from the base creature as follows: +2 Strength, +4 Con, -2 Int (minimum 1), -2 Wis, -2 Cha.

Environment: Same as the base creature and underground.

Challenge Rating: Same as the base creature +1.

Level Adjustment: Same as the base creature +1.

Damage Reduction is very expensive as far as LA costs go.

You might want to take a look at the other 3 +1 LA kick-my-mom-in-the-teeth templates.

1) Lloth Touched - Evil Alignment, + 6 Str/+6 Con, +4 (?) Move Silently and Hide...no DR or Fast Healing

2) Feral - too many goodies to list with some NICE Fast Healing

3) White Dragonspawn - Too good to be true for casters...+7 NA AND a +1 level of Sorcerer casting...did I mention that you are pimped on thursday nights by your White Dragon master? Kinda embarassing seeing as how Bill the Muckshoveler is smarter than a white dragon.

You should also check out Voidmind on that same site I gave you. +1 w/Damage Reduction

Are you nuts? The general consensus is that Mineral Warrior is overpowered as hell for LA+1, and the negatives are very minor compared to the benefits. What in the world are you wanting this for, a spellcaster? A Palladin? Why would a -2 to your mental stats be such a turnoff?

Just about any truly powerful template with a low LA is going to have drawbacks somewhere, that's how they balance them out. It's the only +1 LA I can think of with DR.

And Voidmind is +3 LA, in MM3.

08-14-06, 12:18 PM Well, there's always ability damage/drain to worry about if you tank your mental stats and then you apply a dumbing-down template like Mineral Warrior. That's one reason to be concerned. Who likes the thought of becoming a gibbering pile of stony flesh?

The MM2 update booklet gives Half-Golems a LA of +5. :)

A warforged with Adamantine Body has +0 LA and DR 2/adamantine. You could slap a +1 LA template on top of it, but there aren't a whole lot that make a lot of logical sense to add to a construct (YMMV).
