| Hadel Ionque11-05-03, 03:34 PM | After seeing hundreds of builds where people get only 1 level in a class to access a certain ability or requirement (1 Monk for wis to AC, 1 Horizon Walker for immunity to fatigue, etc.), I began wondering if it was possible to create a 20th level build where you would have only 1 level on each class. Yes, that is 20 classes, including base classes and prestige classes. The only restriction, would be that any material from magazines or unofficial sources are not allowed. This would probably result in very nice saves, but a generaly poor base attack bonus, unless you go for 1 level only on fighter BAB classes, which can be very hard to do ;) So, what builds can you people think of? |
| eudas11-05-03, 03:46 PM | are you fixed on level max=1 per class, or is that negotiable? there are lots of classes (such as rogue) where you would result in much better builds if you could do 2 levels (get the +1BAB at rog2, plus evasion). max=2 will result in better builds.. eudas |
| Hadel Ionque11-05-03, 03:53 PM | Yes, the builds WOULD be better, but what would be the challenge in that? :D |
| Kalanth11-05-03, 04:00 PM | Gods, I can't think of how to pull this off. I am gonna have to spend some time on this, but I like the idea. |
| eudas11-05-03, 04:04 PM | well, if they have lots of nifty level 1 abilities but **** for BAB, then they're just going to suck mercilessly, too, so coming from the opposite side of the question: yeah, they'll be neat, but they'll suck mercilessly, so what's the point of that? the reason i asked is because i think 1 level is a bit too restrictive for the purposes of this contest simply because of the BAB issue.. i suppose it would generate some very interesting non-combat builds... but, alot of the builds are going to look similar; they are of course going to all have ftr1/rog1/sor1/wiz1/etc , the differences will be a) the prc's chosen b) the skill point distribution feats will be primarily chosen based on the prc's used, and only secondarily on the creator's style. just some more $0.02, eudas |
| baoban sith11-05-03, 04:16 PM | (Using OA mixed with standard, and miniatures) Something like bard1/sorcerer1/wizard1/cleric1/druid1/wu jen1/shaman1/shugenja1/strong soul 1/war mage1(this isn't a prc, right?)/maho tsukai 1 (the point of the build)/ other prc's 9 you cast at 20th level, spells known can be chosen from any list, and there's a great deal of flexibility as to when you take stuff. I'd get Maho-Tsukai as soon as possible, though (6th?) Of course, your BaB is 0, which is pretty cool. |
| Hadel Ionque11-05-03, 04:42 PM | Actually, you had to get your maho-tsukai level at 20, cause it says: "each level of PRIOR spellcasting ability counts as one aditional level" |
| Southernskies11-05-03, 06:43 PM | A limit more like: Maximum number of classes without XP penalty. Gives some flexibility to qualify for P-classes and gets the more useful abilities of some classes at 2nd & 3rd. LG Dwarf Rgr1/Pal2/Ftr2/Clr1/Templar1/Mnk2/Sacred Fist1/Horizon Walker 1/Dwarven Defender1/Gladiator1/Red Avenger1/Foe Hunter1/Hunter of the Dead1/Knight Protector of the Great Kingdom1/Knight of the Chalice1/Knight of the Middle Circle1/Warmaster1. BAB+18 with minor spellcasting. |
