| BrimstoneAsh07-16-06, 09:45 PM | A few buddies and I are having a Tournament of sorts with level 20 characters in 1 on 1 matches with single elimination. I want to make a Shifter Druid/Wizard/Mystic Theruge with the Beast Spirit Shifter Sub-level from Races of Eberron. I'm looking for hints and tips, maybe some interesting magic items to help boost my longevity in battle (i.e. cloak of displacement etc.) and I've only got about 300k gold to spend on equipment. I just started working on this earlier today in my spare time and my strategy would go something like this. Cast Sanctuary Cast Summon Nature's Ally (Something like a Dire bear with +12 str from Beast Spirit) Sic my Ally on opponent (Dire Bear = much Grapplage) Sit back and blast them both to death Something like that anyway. Im not sure on the requirements and I haven't had the chance to research much of it yet. My only concern is can I command a Summoned monster to attack someone if I'm under the effects of a Sanctuary spell? I would think so but you never know. |
| Bill Bisco: Average Adventurer07-16-06, 09:52 PM | You most certainly can, but your monster still has to make a will save to successfully attack. Also what books are allowed? If Races of the Wild is, then Arcane Hierophant is better than Mystic Theurge. |
| NoldorForce07-16-06, 10:54 PM | This assumes you have MM3. Thanks to whoever is working on the most recent druid guide for the mention of the most broken druidic summon out there. Crank up your druidic spellcasting as much as possible. Assuming you devote as many levels to it as you can, 9th-level casting is barely within reach (yes, even with all ten levels in Mystic Theurge or Arcane Hierophant). Cast Summon Nature's Ally IX. Summon 1d3 greater storm elementals. In case you're wondering, that's 36d6 damage as a supernatural ability from each of the storm elementals (this is once per minute, effectively one-time). Plus 12d4 nonlethal per round as a free action from each. Ouch. Once you run out of 9th-level slots, do the same thing with Summon Nature's Ally VIII, but instead grab 1d3 huge storm elementals. Instead of a wild 36d6/12d4 per elemental, they'll "only" do 24d6/8d4 per elemental. Just make sure your opponent DOES NOT have immunity to electrical and sonic damage, as all that damage comes from those two types. |

Likewise, a well-optimized level 20 character is going to regard a Dire Bear (even a jacked-up one) as a minor nuisance at best. Your best bet on build is probably Druid 3/Wizard 3/Mystic Theurge 4/Arcane Hierophant 10, which will net you level 9 spells in both categories. |
| Bloodlust_the_Bold07-17-06, 12:09 AM | You can try to go for Fochlucan Lyrist since it gives full BAB and full Casting. There are many ways to get in ... I suggest dip in bard for bardic knowledge and get a ring of evasion or shape shouldmeld impuse boots + least chakra (2 feats for evasion .... Also check if your game will allow you early entry into MT using Earth Spell or sanctum spell ... |
| NoldorForce07-17-06, 09:29 AM | Fochlucan Lyrist is one of those PrCs that looks nice, but is highly restrictive to enter. There's a specific thread on these forums devoted to finding the easiest (relatively speaking) ways to enter Fochlucan Lyrist. I wouldn't recommend it, myself. |
