| Ashaman Nash05-31-05, 08:41 PM | I'm thinking of entering a contest, with rules as such. I have a few builds in mind, but thought I'd ask advice from you wonderful minds as well. If you feel like posting, just put in as much work as you desire; no need for fully progressed builds if you don't want to. ;) 1. ECL 10 2. Standard point buy system, 40 points. This would be your base scores before any racial adjustment and before any level adjustment. Nothing higher than 18 allowed via point buy system. You may get above 18 with racial adjustments and/or level adjustments but the highest score you can "buy" is an 18. 3. Start with maximum hit points 4. Core Books only-3.5v PHB and DMG 5. Start with 60,000g 6. Races allowed-all PHB races, aasimar, tiefling, azer, bugbear, centaur, doppelganger, dragon, drow, ettercap, gargoyle, githyanki, githzerai, gnoll, goblin, grimlock, half celestial, half dragon, half fiend, harpy, hobgoblin, kobold, krenshar, kuo-toa, lizardfolk, minotaur, ogre, orc, flamebrother salamander, satyre, troglodyte, xill, yuan-ti pureblood 7. No Lycanthropes 8. No item creation (ie wizards and such cannot use feats to make magic items, have to buy them straight up like everybody else) 9. Can only buy those items listed in PHB and DMG. No custom made items. 10. Max spell level for scrolls is 5th level. 11. No "preperation" before battle allowed. (ie cannot cast a spell right before combat starts or take a potion or apply poison, etc) Each round starts "as is"’ with just your equipment that you bought with your 60,000gp. So if you want to do these things you will have to spend a round in combat to do them. 12. No cohorts, animal companions, familiars, etc will be allowed. Its mano-a-mano, one-on-one, just you and the other bad ass in the ring. 13. Characters will be approved by myself. Gross cheating (as interpreted by myself) shall cause disqualification. Misinterpretation of the rules will be corrected at no charge to the offending party. 14. Single elimination bracket play-winner take all. 15. Time Cap-each round will be limited to one minute per player real time. Each player must declare and perform their actions within a minute each round. After 24 minutes a time cap will be applied so that combat ends after each player has completed 3 rounds. If both combatants are alive after the end of the time cap (thirty minutes real time maximum), the player with the least HP damage is the winner of the combat. 16. After each tournament round a day passes so all spells can be rememorized or new spells chosen. Also all wounds and ability damage are healed by healers associated with the tournament at the end of each tournament round. 17. No items, magic or mundane, can be bought during the tournament so come prepared with everything you think you will need. 18. Tentatively tournament to have sixteen players and four rounds. Total players and rounds will be announced before character generation to allow characters to buy their equipment appropriately based on anticipated number of rounds. 19. Feats from the monster manual for monstrous characters are okay as long as you meet the pre-reqs 20. The tournament will be played in a 60ft circular arena that is 20ft tall roofed by a fine steel mesh which has a 3ft tall 5ft wide fountain in the center that is full of water and sends a small spume of water up 6ft high in its center. This arena is fairly shady so that there is no penalty to light hating races such as drow and duergar. The floor off the arena is earth with chunks of granite in it to provide earth and stone for spellcasters use. |
