| TrackStar08-05-06, 05:36 AM | OK, so I have a very stong Centaur (la+2; RoW) that I want to be able to do lots of dmg with! He has the Mineral Warrior Template (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20031003e) (la+1) and is barb1/fighter2/Frenzied Berserker6 (CW). So basically he is a 12th level character. Here is where I need help! I have the option of picking 10 feats to accomplish this goal! (1start, 2fighter, 2flaws, 3leveling, 2race) I want to fight with 2 great swords so I need to have two weapon fighting. I also need cleave, destructive rage, inimidating rage and power attack to qualify for FB. This leaves me with 5 feats left to pick. What else should I pick?! (Also, keep in mind that I have diehard, supreme cleave, deathless frenzy and improved power attack as a FB) |
| VonRichthofen08-05-06, 05:54 AM | What else should I pick?! First of all, grab three more fighter/barb levels to get you the +6 BAB required for Frenzied 'Zerker! |
| Carnon08-05-06, 05:55 AM | First of all, grab the four Monstrous Humanoid levels you're supposed to have. Or mention them in the build if the two racial feats refer to those levels... After that, well, you can just Power Attack away for massive damage. |
| VonRichthofen08-05-06, 05:56 AM | BTW, I don't have RotW, but since you get racial feats, I suspect you're in for racial hit dice as well? In this case, your ECL is much higher than 12. |
| VonRichthofen08-05-06, 05:57 AM | First of all, grab the four Monstrous Humanoid levels you're supposed to have. After that, well, you can just Power Attack away for massive damage. Here we are, you're a level 16 character... |
| TrackStar08-05-06, 05:58 AM | Just some thoughts of my own to throw out there: -Imp 2 Weapon Fighting -WF: Great Sword -Greater WF: Great Sword -Weapon Specialization: Great Sword -Greater Weapon Specialization: Great Sword However, I think these are very vanilla feats and that I am missing out on some really powerful damage dealing feats! |
| VonRichthofen08-05-06, 05:59 AM | Oh boy, you don't seem to have even a remote idea of the game rules. Weapon Specialization: 4 fighter levels needed Greater Weapon Specialization: 12 fighter levels needed |
| TrackStar08-05-06, 06:00 AM | WAIT! Help... now I am confused. Why am I lvl 16? I just advanced myself useing the +2 la under the Centaur Racial Traits on pg 95... Did I do that wrong? |
| VonRichthofen08-05-06, 06:01 AM | BTW, your attacks are all at a -4 penalty... |
| TrackStar08-05-06, 06:01 AM | Oh boy, you don't seem to have even a remote idea of the game rules. Weapon Specialization: 4 fighter levels needed Greater Weapon Specialization: 12 fighter levels needed I do, but its late and I wasn't looking at the requirment for that. I've never taken it before. Sorry. |
| TrackStar08-05-06, 06:02 AM | BTW, your attacks are all at a -4 penalty... This I know. But what about my mistake with the Centaur race? What did I do wrong? |
| VonRichthofen08-05-06, 06:03 AM | WAIT! Help... now I am confused. Why am I lvl 16? I just advanced myself useing the +2 la under the Centaur Racial Traits on pg 95... Did I do that wrong? Yes. You take the centaur. LA+2 Mineral warrior +1 Then you'll take the required 4 humanoid levels. THEN you start off picking class levels. Bang, you're a level 16 character as shown in your build. |
| Carnon08-05-06, 06:42 AM | WAIT! Help... now I am confused. Why am I lvl 16? I just advanced myself useing the +2 la under the Centaur Racial Traits on pg 95... Did I do that wrong? The +2 LA is what you pay for the stat bonuses and everything, it's levels you don't really have but are used to balance things out a little. The 4 racial HD are levels you do have, in a way they're the same as class levels. Instead of taking four levels of Fighter (or whatever) as your first levels, you must take four levels of Monstrous Humanoid. So you're a LA +3 char with Monstrous Humanoid 4/Barbarian 1/Fighter 2/FB 6 for a grand total ECL of 16 Luckily for you Monstrous Humanoid levels are actually not that bad, giving full BAB and two good saves - the good will save is very nice if you want to be a FB. RotW will tell you exactly what you get for those levels. And you don't want to fight with two greatswords. A longsword and a shortsword is what you can handle without penalties (apart from the typical TWF penalties), two longswords if you take the Oversized TWF feat. Two bastard swords if you take OTWF and Exotic Weapon Prof: bastard sword. |
| TrackStar08-05-06, 06:53 AM | OK, thanks for the explanation. However, the Centaur is large, so doesn't that allow me to wield a large weapon as if it was a normal sized weapon? |
| VonRichthofen08-05-06, 08:12 AM | OK, thanks for the explanation. However, the Centaur is large, so doesn't that allow me to wield a large weapon as if it was a normal sized weapon? The weapon size stuff is gone in 3.5. Only difference comes with general size type, no longer depending on the specific weapon. |
| Endarire08-05-06, 06:26 PM | As a centaur, you can probably do some spiffy charging tricks. -EE |
| GaffeR08-05-06, 08:00 PM | As a centaur, you can probably do some spiffy charging tricks. -EE Indeed. Power Attack+Leap Attack+Shock Trooper+Combat Brute = Instadeath. Definately grab those ones if you can. Skip TWF, you're FAR better off with a two-hander. Other than that, you'll need your pre-reqs for FB. You would wield a large greatsword (if you picked a greatsword) for 3d6. If you wanted to TWF, you'd wield a large longsword and large short sword for 2d6 and 1d8 respectively. Mechanically identical to a sword 1 step up, so your DM might let it fly.
