I've got a 5th level fighter, which you can find here (http://www.dndonlinegames.com/view.php?id=26882). It is a house rule race, as is the paragon class. The rules for them can be found here (http://invisionfree.com/forums/Thee_Forsaken_One/index.php?showtopic=10667). I'm going to be taking a prestige class that is currently in the works, it will either be 5 or 10 levels, that hasn't been ironed out yet. So I want to plan my character to level 10. Some things that can't change in the future are taking the remaining two levels of the paragon class, and he will be a shield basher.

Any suggestions for my next 5 levels and feats for the rest of my career? Definately two levels of paragon class, and then I'm thinking two levels of fighter. I'm not sure what to do with the last level. And as for feats, I'm thinking Impro ved Shield Bash, Shield Specialization, and Agile Shield Fighter for the shield bashing. After that, maybe Armor Specialization, Melee Weapon Mastery, and Improved Initiative? With my prestige class, I think I'll be able to get DR 2/-, so with Armor Specialization, I'd have DR 4/-. And since I have a Scabbard of Keen Edges, the Melee Weapon Mastery would come in handy if I need to use any other slashing weapon. I've had to do that once already in the campaign when I was captured, so it's possible it could happen again.

Bump.

I've been thinking of taking a level of barbarian, the rage fits in with my character idea. Is there a better optimization single level?

I was thinking about some shield bash synergy yesterday. Look at the wording for Driving Attack. It says "if you use a full-round action to make a single melee attack with any piercing weapon and succeed in hitting, you can initiate a special bull rush attempt against the target..." Which means any time you make a single attack as part of a full round action, say for Shield Slam, not only do you daze them but you can either push them back or make the prone. Which means that if they fail the save, they are dazed for the round and prone, which means they're stuck there for a turn.

All you need to do is invest in shield spike and piercing weapon mastery. Morning star comes to mind as well.

I don't think it quite works that way, although I will admit that the wording on Driving Attack is not as clear as it could be. I think the more likely interpretation is that both feats require their own full-attack action in order to function. I'm not 100% certain of this though.

Hmm...that never ocurred to me. I'd read the rules as being able to do both, but I'm not sure I can make that work with my character. I'd have to take Improved Shield Bash, Shield Specialization, Agile Shield Fighter, Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization, Melee Weapon Mastery, Driving Attack, Shield Charge, and Shield Slam, which is 9 feats. With my current level choice plan, I'll only get 6 more feats. I guess I could take more levels of fighter, but that would cut down on the levels of the prestige class I plan on taking, which I'm not sure I want to do.
