Well when I go to buy equipment I'm not that good at it, so I was thinking about throwing up a thread for some ideas :D I'll start it off

1.Bag of Holding
2.Wand of cure light wounds
3.The standard +whatever to your main stat
4.Cloak of Resistance

Replace CLW with lesser vigor.

Potion of invisibility at low level.
Dust of disappearance at high level.

Survival Pouch (RotW, 5,000gp) lets you pull out useful stuff 5/day. This includes a pack mule.
Immovable Rod (SRD, 5,000gp) versatile. Good for everything from an impromptu stepladder to barricading a door to... well, use your imagination.:schemes:

Also, see Bunko's Bargain Basement (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=657626).

Wands of mage armor and/or shield depending on the character (my warlock made use of shield in every single fight). Potions of shield are handy for big fights.

Skill kits and masterwork instruments and tools are particularly good at low-levels. They're reasonably cost effective particularly important at low levels where you need to squeeze out every single bonus that you can.

The ones I love:

Eternal Wand of Explosive Runes: Pure joy, if you can use it. Every day, scribe two more explosive runes. You'll be bound to find some use for them.

Eternal Wand of Shrink Item: Another endlessly amusing toy, this one is perfect for rogues. Your DM just described some huge ornate gold statue? Shrink it and steal it. Either sell it later, or drop it on someone's head. This is a great spell, and very handy to have in eternal form.

Heward's Handy Haversack: Lightweight, auto-organized storage. A must have for every small sized rogue who wants to actually carry what they steal.

Eternal Wand of Knock: Because the Open Lock skill is worthless.

Rust Bag of Tricks: Cheap and effective insta-summoning for all classes. Nothing says style like throwing a bear on someone.

Ioun Stone of +2 to one stat, with Continual Flame cast on it. Hands free light source!

Immovable Rod: Yeah, this one's just handy in so many ways. Two Immovable Rods is an even better idea.

This thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=657626) has a pretty good list of cost effective items.
