1008th level character needs optimizing [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-20-05, 04:24 PM The character is currently a Bard 404/Evoker 404/Royal Explorer 200 - The important part is that he's completed the Royal Explorer progression (originally in Song & Silence - but I don't think updated to 3.5 yet). The charcter will be used in a Ravenloft meets Oriental Adventures campaign. His background is that he comes from Har'Akir where he was magically created as the 'evil' twin of a fire elemental - despite which he is a Human. He worships Ra as his deity of choice. He currently has 408 ranks in Profession: Journalist and this can't be dropped below 23 Ranks. He started out an Evoker and picked up his first level of bard at 4th level, 4th through 15th were Bard levels, 16th through 20th Royal Explorer levels

His Stats are Currently: Str 45 (+17), Dex 60 (+25), Con 51 (+20), Int 58 (+24), Wis 50 (+20), Cha 59 (+24) and his strength has had few level boosts these going instead to Dexterity.

He has Improved Inititive as his 6th level feat and Skill Focus: Journalist as his 15th level feat.

He speaks 9 languages (4 domain, 5 racial - including Ignian as a racial and Akiri as native as well as local Rokushimian).

He knows Simple Illusion, but the rest of his spell list is blank.

This character will actually never see a game - orginally designed as an exercise in designing 40th level NPCs then levelled up, but I want to finish him off including correct number of feats and skill points - even if you could just assist through 40th I'd be happy.

09-20-05, 04:50 PM Wow your stats started low, 71 points before the leveling up [thats like 5 x 12's and an 11 pretty suckful]. Secondly as a Bard without Sublime chord, you will be owned by wizards, who won't even consider you, so if you ever actually play this character put that in, or play a wizard, especially one who spend his billions of GP only on IOUN stones and uses Blasphemy / Holy Word exclusively [via extra spell slot].

Seriously what GM is insane enough to run a 1000+ game? And whats the point of a theoretical exercise of that level. You end up as a Hulking-Sublime-Ur-Wizard-Cheater-Thing. Who throws suns and has a caster level of 78000. Not to mention that it'd take hours to calculate how much gold he should have [via standard wealth gain per level].

Seriously dude, whats the point?

So I've actually got a Wizard (Evoker) 3/Bard 12/Royal Explorer 10 that needs leveling up to 40th but that I'd liked levelled up higher to a maximum of 1008th.

And isn't complete for the full 20 levels either.

Which book does the Sublime Cord come from? Complete Adventurer?

Normally the following books are allowed at my DMs table:
PHB, Complete Series, Relics & Rituals (first and second) - but I don't think there's actually 303 feats across them.

He was actually intended as a quick-die NPC, but the players never actually killed him, his current level should actually be 27th. I'd like to turn him into a proper PC however. And as for the low starting figures: Roll 3d6 - so his figures actually included more low numbers and a high number of 14.

This character is really meant to exemplify the Royal Explorer PrC. As for the remaining 20 levels, the same applies - just those three classes and SoulKnife please. If your taking it out past 40th then anything goes.

As for my prohibited schools - one is stuck as Evocation but the other is not set yet. (So no Fireballs or Magic Missles for example)

You... are an evoker with a prohibited school of evocation? How exactly does that work?

09-21-05, 01:26 PM It makes about as much sense yes. The prohibited school should be conjuration, unless the speciality changes as a result of this thread in which case that becomes evocation.

This is the stupidest idea anybody has ever come up with, and that includes keeping Dan Werner as offensive coordinator for the Canes. Quadruple-digit ECLs are flat-out unplayable. Don't be a fool.
