I know there is a stance from the white raven discipline in ToB that lets you make 2 5ft steps. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any other 1 to do a full attack and move 10 feet to get skirmish going?

If 3.0 is usable in your game, there is an item called a 'Training Dummy' (or something like that) in Arms and Equipment Guide. If you're a Monk, and train with it for (I think it was) 48 hours non-stop, you gain a 10ft step.

I need to get Tome of Battle (and Dragon Magic, Complete Mage, and Faiths of Eberron for that matter).

The item that Ryu Katsuragi refers to is the Sparring Dummy of the Master. After training with it a certain amount of time, anyone with at least 1 level of Monk can move 10 ft. instead of 5 ft. when they take a 5 ft. step.

So, combine that with the stance you speak of, and you can move 20 ft. in a round without provoking attacks of opportunity and still taking a full round action afterwards.

I was toying around with an Elocator build that took advantage of the Sparring Master of the Dummy. The Elocator gets an ability that allows 2 five foot steps in a round (like that stance), so I was toying around with a very mobile fighter. I'll have to check the stance out when I get the book.

Does the stance say 'one extra 5 ft. step' or something like 'you can take two 5 ft. steps each round'? I wonder if it can stack with the Elocator's ability.

The stance is called Press the Advantage. It states you may take "a second" 5' step immediately after you take your five foot step for the round. I see no reason why it wouldn't stack.

There's also a nice Tiger claw stance called Wolf Pack Tactics that allows you to move 5' with every attack.

You should definitely get ToB before those other books, it's one of the best 3.5 books ever released in my opinion.

Also, with a DC 40 Tumble check, you can make a 10' step instead of a 5' step.

If memory serves, OA isn't even WotC material. To add insult to injury, it's 3.0 as well.

Um, it was made by James Wyatt, has the Dungeons and Dragons symbol on it, and has the Wotc logo on the Credits page.

It was 3.0 but was a reasonable use of a high tumble skill in my opinion.

Oh Hewro.

So I'm just wondering where I can find wolf pack tactics. I seem to recall reading it, but I don't have ToB. (maybe CA, CW, PH2?)

Considering the fact he said it's a stance, and Tiger Claw, it would be in Tome of Battle.

So, in essence, we have multiple stacking "additional 5' step" game mechanics here, yes?

Without ruining a build too much by over-specializing (wasting too many feat slots, etc.), what's the maximum *step* one can reasonably get using all the 3.0 and 3.5 stuff mentioned in this thread?

At 7th level, an Elcator (XPH) gets Capricous Step as a class feature. This allows him to take an extra 5-foot step in a round that they do not make a move action (other than the given 5-foot step). Combine this with the Inconstant Location power and you get:
1. Teleport next to enemy
2. Full attack
3. Step 10 feet away
4. Repeat for 10 rounds
(this may be better for sneak attackers than skirmishers)

Monk 2/Psychic warrior 2/Warblade 2/Elocater 7/Warblade +7, three 10 ft. steps in one round, thanks to the Sparring dummy of the master.

No one specifically mentioned the hustle power from the EPH (Expanded Psionics Handbook). You use it as a swift action and gain a free move action which you can use to make a 5 foot step. Then you can use your normal 5 foot step and still full attack.

regardless, that's an interesting build.

You can take them one after the other to get the effect of a 30' step, but anyone who has Thicket of Blades or something similar can get a free attack for each part of the step.

You can't take a 5' step if you use other movement in a round (unless you're using an ability that specifically removes that restriction, which Hustle doesn't do). So you use hustle to move your *speed* and then do the full attack.
